"It's just a poster in the background," Killian said. "On the original comic [cover] there was a character in that position who was also not slain or apprehended. But I guess we didn't have to put Mega Man in there."
With all the flack that Capcom has received about Mega Man's disappearance from gaming you'd think that they'd pick a different character to be in that slot, rather than a guy with such a strong following.
"Yeah, just tweaking the Mega Man fans," Killian joked. "I haven't had my nose broken in, so we need to bring them back... and a rage storm for me."
There was an awkward pause after Killian said this followed by a tentative "sorry," which to me kind of leaves the door open for the blue bomber's return.
Sorry doesn't cut it Seth. It really doesn't. :( You just added fuel to the fire. Just bring Mega Man in the game and be done with it. No need to troll us nor aggravate us. Just say that Mega Man will be in DLC and it'll stop. There. Plain and simple. Such a jerk.
Also, in regarding Galactus Mode and the hack... in the console versions of the VS. games (except MvC2), you can play as the boss characters. That was really nice that we can play as the planet devourer, Galactus.
Poor Seth. Capcom Japan decides to troll everybody by putting MegaMan in the poster and cause an uproar, and Seth is the one who has to handle crowd control for something he had no hand in doing.
Doing that with Mega Man is just rude by Capcom.. out of all charcters and they know he is the most wanted Capcom character to make an apperience!
That's just pure trolling and something I hate them for..
The final result of the new reveals and the overall new charcter roster is great and I love Capcom's work on that.
But why they put in Firebrand instead of Mega Man (X) is beyong my believe.
Capcom, think about your fans, they are the ones who keeps feeding you with money!
Also, I hope that artwork comes with the game somehow. Both look awesome. Always love Shinkiro's work.
@6
They didn't put in Firebrand instead of X, they put Zero in instead of X. And they are putting in X!... as Zero's alt costume. Niitsuma has confirmed that Zero's alt costume is "blue", and considering that they took away that alt color...
And that comic book art is the coolest thing ever.
At #5 Agreed. Anyways, everyone should get over the Mega Man sh*t. He's just a video game character ffs.
Shinkiro's art is amazing as always and that other picture doesn't look too bad either :)
its a million times better than that other piece of crap that was put out by some Marvel artist for Ultimate
@5: Not that I blame him. After all, CAPCOM's actions are causing an uproar as it is.
@6: Actually Zero's alt costume color is based off X in his armored form from Maverick Hunter X.
@7: Shut your mouth. Mega Man deserves a chance and I won't give up until he does. Mega Man will not die.
@8: Exactly.
@12: But not everyone isn't getting over it. They are still reeling in disgust.
@13: *whacks him with a lump of two-by-four*
Why do that? So then we can hear all the whining about how low tier he is? He sucked in TvC, Mvc, and Mvc2. They still would find a way to complain. I still think Capcom should listen to their fans although I don't care to much for MM. Guess that is what happens when you don't appreciate your character and ask for Zero and Phoenix Wright.
It is very funny that two characters from Super Ghouls and Ghost got in before he did though.
They should make Mega Man a unlock-able character. You have to 100% the game with all the achievements to unlock him. That would be hilarious. Make people go into mission mode and learn the game so we will have more competition.
There are more people whining about Megaman fans than people whining about his exclusion from the game, Seriously, those guys need to quit their bitching.
I'm a huge magaman fan too... I grew up with the series but please.... for the love of god.... SHUT THE HELL UP ABOUT HIM YOU DESPERATE FOOLS!
@24
I wish you and i were could convince the fans that hes not comin, and they should just enjoy the roster.
On one end, you have the outraged fans who keep getting tossed and given the run around with their favorite childhood hero whom many would like to be at LEAST given a chance in MvC3 due to a heavy absence in any new game for a long while, and more than 4 canceled games back to back.
On the other, you have elitist fighting game a$shats who swear that MegaMan is a waste of a slot and doesn't fit at all in a fighting game when he's clearly been implemented into MvC1/2, TvC, and Onimusha to name the big ones, and has more than enough clearance to be revamped into a contender but doesn't seem to make it past that barrier that he "isn't worth it"
Which is, honestly, more annoying? The fans? Or the bitter, spiteful elitists who continue to bash Capcom's biggest faces?
Carry on.
@27: I'd say both but you never know.
@25: *pats his back*
@23: Let them go. It's better this way.
Someone said on that page that mega man would be too weak to be in the game. Yeah right he has too many different powers and making him op would help lol.
@27 I'm going with the fanboys, not fans, but fanboys. Roster selection will always be touchy and people will always bitch even when they play and love the game, but fanboys feel as though they are entitled to something that they clearly are not, which is the by far the worst to me.
(Well Mega Man fans, Capcom said he's getting 'something' for his 25th anniversary, also you might be interested to know this:
Inafune, we all know left Capcom, but more recently asked Capcom if he could he work with them to create a Mega Man game. They said they weren't interested.
If you don't get the hint by now, I can't really help ya.
PS: If worse comes to worst, at least he'll be able to hang out with Hakan since they'll be locked in the characters-we'll-never-see-again room
*Sobs Hysterically*)
@34 it's not even a sense of entitlement, Imagine if they added Ken and not Ryu. It's just strange.
Niistuma does like MegaMan...SEE
It's all over his face
https://fbcdn-sphotos-a.akamaihd.net/...
I'm not exactly sure how this leaves this open for Mega Man. This is coming from a Mega Man fan. Unless I'm messing up the context, he was apologizing (after the mentioned awkward silence during the interview) for a joke that the interviewer obviously found in bad taste (because he couldn't even force a fake laugh for the sake of making good conversation). Which is poor journalism by the way, you're supposed to fill the silences with questions or comments, not just sit there. Silly, nonsense.
I'm a MegaMan fan. MegaMa X is top 10 all time best games I've ever played. I'd have love to see him in the game.
But he isn't. And I'm okay with that.
On another note, I thought it was hilarious what Capcom did with that stage and with Zero's win quotes. I really don't see why people were so upset with it. God forbid developers have sense of humor.
It's very easy for all the Frank West fans to talk trash about the mm fanboys.When their beloved character is already in.The truth is no one really knows for sure if mm will be dlc or not except for Seth Killian and a couple of the other people involved in making the game.Just because they say no about mm means nothing.They will say what they have to to keep fans off the trail.Some major Frankwhores are already disappointed that he isn't like his tvc incarnation and I knew they would change him up a little for this game they had to.Tvc and umvsc3 are two completey different games.Enjoy
I still say Gene should be in this game. Seriously. 2 of 3 great games from Clover Studios make the cut (Viewtiful Joe & Okami) but not their third and final good game (God Hand)?
If that isn't shenanigans I don't know what is.
I can definitely move on in life without him though. Unlike MM fans who can't seem to take a hint and move on.
People telling people to SHUT THE HELL UP on the INTERNET............
Anyways im pretty sure Seth had nothing to do with the decision, obviously it was Niitsuma but Niitsuma should have known better, Niitsuma does'nt have to face the American fans 24/7 and is not at ever event getting bombarded with Megaman questions. Seth has to deal with that so people probably should vent their fustration on Niitsuma not Seth.
And if he IS gonna be in the game Seth can't say anything about it, but imagine how fustrating it is to know something you can't speak about and everyone is telling you your a jerk when it's not your fault. Then you have the developers making mean jokes and hints of the character which they think is funny but is really a slap in the face to fans.
The_Taskmaster is right about one thing. If it was Frank West on the chopping block and not Mega Man, Mega Man fans would be doing the EXACT same thing to Frank West fans. Imagine if Vergil got in intead of Dante or even worst they used the NEW DmC model, voice actor, and moves; the amount of seething would be apocolyptic. Capcom kind of needs to grow up if you ask me. Real talk.
Capcom hates Megaman. Simple.
Proof:
-Excerpt from a GameInformer article:
"As if Capcom fans weren't mad enough at the company for axing Mega Man Universe and Mega Man Legends 3, they will probably be even more angry to hear that the company has refused Keiji Inafune's offer to help Capcom finish the now-cancelled Legends 3 via Inafune's new company, Comcept. "I wanted to leave Capcom and recharge my energy, and support Capcom from there," said Inafune, "but it seems they don't allow it."
^^^^^^
Phucked up.
@xShonuffx Capcom needs to grow up? it's the fanboys who are raging, no matter which discussion. Cable, Cyclops, Megaman, Venom, blah, blah, blah.
In the case of Capcom-owned characters, if anyone should be able to make fun of their "own work2 it should be the game developers. Megaman's creator left with quite some controversy and Capcom is now "punishing" him with some (humorous) jabs at Megaman. Nothing serious in my opinion. If anthing, the fanboys need to grow up. Whining, name-calling and threatening doesn't really help these people plead their case.
I think its funny what capcom did. The way guys are talking in the forums and comments on this page, they deserve to be trolled. Especially the reactions on Mega Man not being in the game, if you arent nice to Capcom, why should they be nice to you, and stop hating them for something you do so much of. (there are exeptions of course of nice people just wanting their favourite character in the game but they should thank the trolls and immature people for that poster)
@Geniuzz
I read just as much antagonizing comments about Mega Man from haters as much as disappointing comments from the fans. Don't be biased & naive.
There are two crowds in the debate
1. People who play characters based on competitive viability.
2. People who play characters because they have love for them despite competitive viability.
All in all you guys should be a bit more open-minded about Mega Man's potential if he was redone for this game. Hell I'm curious after seeing how good they made Ryu & Wolverine. Anything is possible. People assume Mega Man would be a zoner when he's was very beastly in TVC.
@tokyobassist
I'm not singling out Megaman fans and I agree that haters are just as annoying.
I have honestly never given much thought to Megaman in MvC3, he might be good, but he's not in and won't be in Ultimate. At least not yet.
My problem is with the constant whining, when vanilla was released the moaning started "Where's Megaman?" "What! no Megaman!?!" and with every announcement the same BS discussion starts again. and again. and again.
How much you want to bet that when the first DLC is announced and it's not MM, that we will NOT go through this rather unproductive process again?
Wow, you guys are really falling for this stuff? Hmm... MvC2 had 52 characters and UMvC3 has 50 while they are clearly trying to surpass that mark, there isn't an arcade port for the game which is bound to happen, and they've gone too nerf crazy with it to not update it. Now put those three things together with the missing slot for a company staple character. This greedy company is obviously making another port with 2-6 more characters so chill out.
@53 I say that because Capcom is adding fuel to the fire. Your explanation of the debacal that happened when Mega Man creator leaving is a prime example. Why take jabs at the Mega Man fanbase because a famous designer and producer has a problem with how they run shop? To me thats childish. It's childish to "take jabs" at a popular character at the expense of cash paying fans, you just don't do that, ever!
I can't stand fanboys too but Capcom is just as easily guilty for feeding the trolls, first with the Days of Future past and even the Zero comments, it's not like they don't realize it. They just need to add Mega Man and be done with it. This type of anti-promoting is gonna comeback to haunt them.
i am huge fan of megaman x but is not the end of the world not to include him.... many important characters were left behind... anyways this umvc3 is a rip off for vanilla mvc3 owners. Who is going to give me back my money... what is that special content that we vanilla users will have on umvc3??? it will probably be nothing important :(
@58 2 of those 52 characters were clones so, it's about even... then again we got two clones in Ultimate Marvel (Akuma and Virgil. Bite me, they are clones.)
When they continue to deny a character like Mega Man, and Tell us over and over that he will NOT be in it. Odds are he IS in it.... But who will Marvel bring with him? The only other name that was mentioned lately was juggernut. They "wished" they can bring him back... hm... One can only hope.
I hope Capcom keeps on trolling. First Days of Future Past, then Zero's win quote, then his Mega Man color being changed. It's not very professional of them but I think it's hilarious that they'd jerk a fanbase (albeit an annoying one) around so much, I'm not even being sarcastic.
I've always loved MM since the old NES days. Heck, *I* wanted MM in vanilla MvC3 back when the game was announced, but geez, all this constant begging, whining and moaning is making me hate the character already. Just get over it, don't buy the game and move on ffs.
I love the classic Mega Man games. Love them. After MvC2 I was stoked he wasn't in 3, as he was straight up garbage, and putting Zero in instead was a great call.
Seeing Mega Man fanboys bawing used to annoy the hell out of me, but now I love it. I hope Capcom finds ways to keep trolling the hell out of them. What's sad is that with the great Mega Man games as old as they are, the fanboys all come across like 12 year girls getting their first period.
Keep up the trolling Capcom, Mega Manboys tears work better than Viagra.
Wolverine, Akuma, many others are garbage in 2 except for MSS. Doesn't say anything about their MVC3 counterpart, does it?
@72 Nope, but that doesn't mean I wanted them in either. I also didn't complain when they got announced. The point is that I didn't want Mega Man, but I was indifferent on it. I'm not saying he couldn't be made decent, just that I didn't want him after his MvC2 iteration. I wouldn't have complained if he got a spot, just like I haven't complained about Modok, Vergil, or Chris (characters I have little to no personal interest in). Now though, I'm actively hoping that Capcom continues to troll the hell out of Mega Manboys, and never puts him in. If Capcom puts him in, his rabid eight year old (or so they come across) fans won't be happy unless he's god tier, and we'll still have to hear their constant complaining.
Stop for a second and imagine the Blue Bomber does get in, but he's on a Viewtiful Joe/Chris Redfield/Spider Man level. Meaning that players have shown he's viable, but not (yet) widely accessible or commonly used. Hell, put him on that Storm mid range status. The fanboy tears we have to swim through now are just going to be worse because he isn't pick up and play simple mode.
At least if they keep him out I'll have the satisfaction of knowing the people who come and cry like spoiled children didn't get their way.
Zero is way cooler than MM well at least my opinion I'm not really a MM fan but I'm sure he would be a pretty cool character I'm down for any DLC characters they might possibly release would prefer Asura though cuz he is straight dope
more megaman tearjerkers

(T~T)
Mmx should be in cuz he's awesome.Nuff said lol.
Could we all stop pretending that Megaman isnt "potentially" a bada$$? If they incorporated ALL of his abilities(Jet/Power/Super Adapters, Copy and such)in the game, he would be just as awesome as.....hmmmm....dare i say it?....Zero. :)
Scrap his "MvC/MvC2" iteration....they need to rebuild him.
I have been a Megaman fan for nearly my whole life, ever since I first saw X4. I was not unhappy with MVC3. I mean, I didn't like the game personally, but that Zero was in it was cool enough (Even though he was just in Tatsunoko). Megaman was missed, but I was fine. I was fine with Megaman Universe getting shut down. I was nervous about Inafune leaving Capcom. I was heartbroken at Legends3 getting shut down (the only reason I would have bought a 3DS). Now, as a fan, I need to see something that tells me that Megaman isn't going to die. Him not being in a game he should have been in doesn't do that. Capcom refusing to allow Inafune finish Legends3 for them hurts. And then, after all of this, when I'm akin to waiting outside a family members hospital room to hear if they're okay, Capcom shows me this poster, and their actions are akin to a doctor coming out and saying "I'm sorry... He's dead." and then, when I'm on the verge of tears, shouting "PSYCHE! I'm just f.ucking with you!" And then, after several seconds of awkward silence, he says "No, but seriously though... I'm sorry for your loss." I just need to hear Capcom say something definitive, either "He's dead, don't look for him again", "He'll probably be in as DLC", "He won't be in this game, but something should happen soon", something! Stop f.ucking jerking around loyal fans!
