People have been postulating that PM start0up gave some invincibility for a bit, but that's probably a property of Chun's super. The pause could be helpful.
Still, though...Chun lost in the first vid due to time out.
And the second vid's PM wouldn't have been needed if Chun, who still had plenty of health, was on point, meaning the player needed better tag management.
But, I'm not against PM having situational uses. Just don't want it to become an inevitability.
^well, you need a really fast fireball immune super like chun li's, and you need to have pandora, and you might even die before doing the last bit of damage. and besides, plenty of fighting games allow you to do 40%-50% damage for less risk and resources.

Hey this isn't half bad, and gives Pandora Mode some legitimate usage.
Essentially you're using Pandora Mode for a quick switch to your other character in order to punish something with a super or whatever else.
Because Pandora Mode's activation is a cinematic, it pauses everything and gets your second character in pretty much instantly. So assuming your second character is capable of doing so, you can sacrifice your first in order to get him/her in for a clutch punish. However, going off those two videos, it seems it's only worth doing if you can get a K.O. off of it since Pandora will likely run out before you can do much else, as we see in the first video.

I was thinking another use for Pandora Mode is using it to punish whiffed specials like uppercuts it seems like it comes out fast enough to do it but i could be wrong but what do I know maybe if u had speed gems it will help out.
Oh wow thats terrible lol. Thats gonna be very overpowered if everything freezes when activating Pandora mode and you can instantly go into an invincible super or EX Move.

See if he would have used that auto block gem he would have never got hit.
Say what you will about X-Factor, but at least it serves a purpose. Good or bad it's there and it functions. Pandora seems like a decent idea poorly implemented. The only proof of it actually working is a highly unlikely fireball punish opportunity. And considering not everyone has a super that can go through fireballs, it's not a very viable option.

I really want to like this game but every time they announce a new mechanic like pandora and gems i just scratch my head in confusion and start asking myself was Ono doing shrooms when coming up with this stuff but maybe its just to early to judge but whatever Ono is smoking he better not share it with Harada cause i want Tekken x StreetFighter to be good.

well for 1, looks like its a 0 frame/ 1 frame switch, but ide like to know more about its properties/cancelability
if you can cancel out of offensive/defensive hitstun it would have a lot of potential similar to X factor cancel in marvel for punishes. ide like to see something similar to haggar's XFC into hyper SPD.
i also just thought about possibly doing a really punishable block string on an opponent, pandora cancelling (if this is possible) then go into your second character, a grappler, and doing super grab, or just a general 50/50 mixup with grab/attack

The gem system for me is kind of like poker variation where you put your money on what you predict will happen in your gameplay. I like it.
The pandara looks ok at first if this last a bit longer. Chunli got time to go on super and one special and died already... how long was it? 15s due to the ultra animation taking forever? that's lame. It should be RESET to 15s every time you hit clean your opponent.
I still believe most people will skip it. It is such a difficult and very situational tool. You can't even use it if you are dying and your opponent has almost full life and it is possible that you input pandara by mistake during the game... making your opponent just defends, wait, and win doing nothing.
You know we're in trouble when the video supposedly showing off this new tech has the player lose anyway.

Except the auto-block gem doesn't overwrite recovery frames, so Sagat would have been hit regardless. Try again.

Please don't bring this Marvel vs Capcom illiteracy into Street Fighter. More proper terms would be "Strategy", "Moves", "Skills", etc.
ok Pandora doesnt look all that bad,but the gems aspect is a heavy leg that might keep the game from being good.
Bring back focus attack w/ new features and animations, ultra and supers, leave pandora and take out gems..
Bring back 1-frame reversal windows so the best strategy for when you're being pressured or actually comboed is to freaking block and wait for an opening as opposed to mashing a special move.

This video is also a good example as it shows Dawgtanian using Pandora to punish a whiffed launcher and win the match.
@50 Well if every fighter played like SF4 i'd just stop buying them. The way I see it if people want that kind of gameplay just go play SF4. Im not even hating, there are a ton of fighters and it's nice to see each one unique and different. If SFxT played like SF4, what would be the point? Just tag team SF4 with Tekken Characters, I got Tekken Tag 2 coming out for that. Just speaking for real here.

the gems will be a core mechanic, but they obviously wasn't when we first saw clips of the game and people weren't complaining as much.
regardless, the "core mechanic" of the gems, if all goes as they have said, will just be gearing the gameplay style to that of the user even more.
in short, i doubt this "core mechanic" will be THAT blatant in the sense that the game is COMPLETELY different to the point it's foreign.
I got to see this...
