Season 7, episode 3 of Cross Counter is up from Gootecks and Mike Ross. Here's what this video covers.
Gootecks and Mike are back from a brief hiatus, following Season's Beatings. They talk game breaking glitches and cover the results of the BT|IFC Yipes' Curleh Mustache invitational tournament in NYC. They also give a preview of Canada Cup, coming up on the 5 and 6 of November in Calgary Alberta, before getting to the meat of the show with a gemtastic discussion of Street Fighter X Tekken.
@1
It's because it's optional and just made to have fun. I think Seth even said it's broken and unbalanced.
just made to have fun
JUST MADE TO HAVE FUN
TO HAVE FUN
FUN
FUN
FUN
That's why there should be a discussion BEFORE the patch.
If a combo of Cards is too powerful like 1 hit death or Kitty Pride (You cant be hit) Time Manipulation (Opp. frozen in place forever)
THAT IS NOT FUN unless you are a tier-trolling-whore.
Nope Gems wont work. Gootecks couldn't adapt to mvc3. He barely wins in SS4 so he jumps back to sf3. Now he wants to be pro gem so the A.I. will play the game for him. Wont be surprised if he sucks in SfxT gem edition and goes back to Magik.
Ultradavid, Keits, James Chen. Good job!
Mike and Gootecks are saying just what I was saying. This would probably work well if it was on USB drivers or Memory Cards were eac individual can upload their gems, characters, and set up at the start. This would keep tournaments from buying every gem set or banning gems because it puts the responsibility on the player.
At the end though we still havent played it so wait till we see what happens then we can start crying.
@7 Sellout to what? No one even knows how this is gonna work. Ultradavid does'nt even know how this is gonna work. It's all speculation ande paranoia. I think people just needs to wait and see what happens. Before making an ass of themselves.
I wish this show would go back to actual game-play analysis. So tired of their dumb talk show :\. Loooooooved CC when it first started off.
@9 part of being a smart consumer is to analyze and makes decisions based off of the information a company is giving you before purchasing. They announced sfxt people were one board. They announced gems people jumped off. To like or dislike a game before it is release is based off of the same principle.
@10 That is what happens when you get commercialized and that money starts to come in. They got to eat. So, they got to appeal to the masses. 2 years from now they will be on g4tv. Just a little prophetic word.
The main problem I see with the usb/memory card idea is the cross-platform issue. You would need to have both systems to make sure you can play at any tournament. That's not really an option for every player. I'm hoping Capcom is paying attention to the concerns and has plans to streamline it.
@7 How is he a sellout? Gootecks brought a very different perspective to the table being a Magic player. Anyone who has ever played a card game knows that there is no one deck that beats all. That's the beauty of it. You customize it to your own particular traits and strengths. If anything, Gootecks is one of the few not simply jumping on the hate bandwagon before actually playing the system. On top of that, he stated a way that the gem system could actually work in a tourney if the game allows for it, which is MUCH more than most of you complainers offer. It's obvious Capcom wants the gems in. Offering possibilities is better than whining about it.
@9 So I guess it's only okay to speak out when it's negative, but if someone likes the possibility, it's no good? Biased much?
Funny thing that rarely gets mentioned is that all of these gems have activation triggers, and we don't know how they are going to work yet. Frankly, regardless of what James Chen says, I REALLY doubt that we will see many pro players wasting a gem slot on autoblock. Meter is used for far too many functions in this game to be wasted on a fundamental. Guess that remains to be seen. I can only see Autoblock being a used gem if that cross assault technique ends up being very powerful. I can't see good players foregoing a speed or power increase of some sort just for blocking or teching assistance.
A smart consumer has all facts and details about the product that they are inquiring before making any decisions on buying.(no shade, just marketing 101)
lol this is capcoms way to keep you buying something for the same game. itll force people to buy it in order to keep a strong and updated character.
No thanks.
So the essence of the matter for me is gems are good. It is the way Capcom announced it that it questionable. I am not against a certain pool of gems that you can customize your character with. However, when they say Magic, you can expect it to get a lot of additions over time and requires purchase in order to stay competitive.
Capcom didnt make that announcement for nothing. They already planned their business strategy as Wizards of the Coast as opposed to static characteristic.
Here is to hoping they can actually make people who dont want to spend extra dollars still happy. If they can do that, props to them.
I hope the Gem System got some sort of saving mechanism so that people can roam around tournaments and gatherings without wasting like 15 minutes to customize their characters. The only viable solution is a central internet based database (Cross platform) where you just need to login and use your credentials and get all your settings.
Only problem is if there is no internet your screwed.
we all knew they werent gonna bad mouth it, they want more viewers and they want people to stay interested in the "new" stuff. Even if its terrible they will still film episodes playing it(just like third strike).
Why do people keep assuming that they'll have additional gems beyond the initial release? Sure some might be DLC or exclusive from the offset but at this point it hasn't been confirmed that you'll need to buy even a SINGLE gem to be competitive. And if you believe that Capcom will make DLC gems the best, please tell me WHY Jill and Shuma aren't top tier although they are DLC? These are not information but just rumors that spread fear and anger while impeding discussions.
To be fair, Capcom created this mess themselves by releasing half-baked ideas and being shy with information. But two wrongs don't make a right. Ever.
They didnt even think about talking about the UMVC3 Heroes and Heralds mode on the live stream last week. FAIL
