Ooh, black Shuma-Gorath. (drools)
Do like.
Sad as his tier position may be, I can't stop playing Shuma. I guess, technically, he's my main? My teams usually revolved around him and Tron when I actually bothered to play. ;-p
That said, I'm going to have to really sit in the lab and play around to get a team I like to work with him in Ultimate. And that Red will get put to use!
(I'm thinking Shuma/Tron/Trish again but I need to really think about their synergy this go-round if I'm going to be at all effective...)

*Hot summer day, kids playing Mahvel inside with no air conditioning*
"Man, I wish we had something to cool off with."
"I've got just the thing! Hey, Shuma!"
*Wall explodes and the Old One steps in*
"EVERYTHING BEGINS AND ENDS WITH SHUMA-GORATH"
A celestial howl follows, a death wind sweeping the Earth like a living plague, twisiting everything and everyone into unspeakable bloody, oozing, gnawing, gnashing, thrashing, groaning, crying abominations. Life becomes a mockery of what it once was.
PREPARE YOURSELVES!
SHUMA-GORATH IS COMING!
SHUMA-GORATH IS COMING!
SHUMA-GORATH IS COMING!
SACRIFICE YOURSELF TO THE CHAOS GOD!
...And then their thirst was quenched.
All that is missing is a yellow Shuma and we would have a complete Shuma Rangers group
Dat black alt.
It looks like it'll make him real hard to see on dark stages, maybe even more than any of the other black alts.
If Capcom loves Shuma so much, then why didn't the buff him more in Ultimate? I mean, they clamored enough to get him in, so why wouldn't they want him obviously at the top? I think Shuma is one of the only characters worth having that much bias even though I don't play him.
@18
Not necessarily. Shuma isn't as bad as people think he is. He's like MODOK. He can kick ass, but he's really hard to play. His J. S buff might be the key to giving him a greater damage output.
@20
Isn't Modok better though? I saw an interview for umvc and it said bottom was like Shuma and Wolverine
@17 the obvious reason would probably be because he would become too strong. considering how the high tiers took a large hit in nerfs it probably puts Shuma on even ground with the cast. Buffing him would make him High Tier I guess, won't know till we play, no one has had a chance to play him except maybe Max and he has a gag order till official announcments are made.
They like Shuma but it's still a game, they have to be careful. Shuma is like the Makoto of MvC3, just the slightest buffs would make him OP, you have to be careful.
This is comeing from a person who plays Shuma and Hsien Ko so I know his potential.
@13
Yes, this must happen.
@21
I know what you mean, I don't use Shuma, but I've seen his potential from someone with the gamertag 'Snadmonkey'. That guy has the sickest Shuma I've ever seen, he showed me the hard way that Shuma has crazy combo potential.
@22
*sigh* Sorry you didn't get what I was going for. If you read what I wrote again, you'll see that there is absolutely nothing anti-Shuma in the entire thing. I was making light on the fact that he's so obscure -- not dissing the character himself.
I did say "you have to wonder" why he was chosen for Marvel Super Heroes, and I guess you might consider that "salty," but really...don't you have to wonder that? It's a fair question.
I like Shuma -- I really do. I wouldn't have added the part about the Storm X-Men vs. Street Fighter ending if I didn't. I'm sorry you took what I wrote as being negative rather than tongue-in-cheek.
@11
Thank you for getting it.
I play Shuma and I see his potential. His Mystic Ray is really good, he has some of the easiest jump loops in the game with his cr. H, and he has a great unblockable Lv. 3, and it's one of the best Lv 3s simply because of the many ways you can set it up. My favorite is to call out an assist so the opponent will be forced to block and can't push you back with advancing guard, get up next to them, do Chaos Dimension, X-Factor cancel the blocked hit, and just keep mashing H. Unavoidable X-Factored Chaos Dimension does a lot of damage.
He's not like MODOK all. His normals are solid and can chain easily, and he controls like any other character, unlike MODOK. If you play Wesker, and then play Shuma Gorath for the first time, you'll still be able pull of air combos and stuff. If you go from Zero to playing MODOK for the first time, it's gonna be incredibly awkward, since his normals are weird and he doesn't have a regular jump.
@24
Weird, I wasn't expecting an answer from the very guy who wrote the article (do you have spiral like abilities, or something). I'm sorry, but to me (and judging by the comments on the Marvel blog at least another guy) it just sounded like that.
Every time i see this character it looks like something straight out of a hentai with all those tenticals in a game with hot(some half naked) females in it.
neat.
