This is good. I'm hoping they add the other sequels too like Nightwarriors, Darkstalkers 3 and hopefully Vampire Savior 2 (Darkstalkers 3+ I think).
But of course, not on XBL. I still got my PS1 copy and a PS2, anyway, so it's all good for me, anyway.
I like this! But why the Playstation Version? It was great when we were kids, but it's all chopped up compared to the Arcade Version! Port the Arcade Version!!!
Except for Alpha 3. I want the Dreamcat Version of that game. Complete with World Tour Mode and the extra characters that the Arcade didn't get.
Quick Story:
When I was a young teen playing at my local Arcade I was actually saving money to BUY an Alpha3 Arcade Cab (how delusional I was lol)!
Then it came out for PS and then Dreamcast! Boy was I happy!
@10 i agree everyone needs to take one for team if we actually want another this is how they porrly collect there data soo ima buy in hopes of just this
For everyone complaining about it being the PS1 verison, that's what PSone Classics are the Playstation 1 version of a game. Yes the arcade version might be better but sony has distribution rights for the playstation version only.
Initinal R I doubt it
boosterdetector
It's not laziness it's just what sony's been doing with every from KOF 99 to Final Fantasy 7 to freaking Crash Bandicoot it's the original game untouched
EVERYONE WHO BELIEVES THIS A TEST FOR A NEW DARK STALKER:
THIS ISN'T THAT or else this would have been made a BIG DEAL BY CAPCOM!
Nobody is comparing games. And are you telling me that if this game does as well as MvC2 in sales, that they will not even think to make a sqequel? and last time I checked, Ono kept bringing up the fact that he wants a darkstalkers remake or sequel, how is that not a big deal?
What PS1 classics are:
6(Most fighting games like KOF99, Alpha series and Tekken 1 was 6) to 10 bucks (10 for the big popular titles ones like FF7) of games that are no longer printed and or rare and or just classic that you'd only find for like 30 bucks for a good condition copy. Also it comes with a digitized version of the old school manual
What PS1 classic aren't:
Upgraded/remixed games with Online modes and blah blah which usually go for 15 bucks.
Basically I want you to find a copy of Dark Stalkers 1 for PS1 for 5.99 because that's what Sony's offering you with manual and never being able to scratch the f***ing disc
See, this is why it's always better to own both systems, if possible...
(SO TO ALL THE CONSTANT DARKSTALKERS WHINERS: HERE'S YOUR CHANCE TO SHOW CAPCOM(WITH YOUR WALLET) WHY A NEW DARKSTALKERS SHOULD BE MADE!
LET THE SERIES RISE BEYOND OBLIGATORY CROSSOVER SPOTS FOR MORRIGAN AND FELICIA!
(Besides I wanna see Anakiris again :())
Initial R. with your logic we should have had an FF7 direct sequel or Remastering announced a year ago, or Alpha 4(which Alpha 1-3 has been out again for a while as a PS1 classic) BOF6, a New Syphon Fliter, Parasite Eve 3, a new Puzzle fighter, A new GEX the gekko game, a new Mana game, a New Medievil game. Not to mention A new Legacy of Kain game, a New Chrono game, A new Dino crisis,Resident Evil 6, because they're all PSone classics like this DarkStalkers and more then a few of those are from Capcom.
This isn't a test to see whether or not they should release a new Darkstalkers game. This is the same reason they released all the other PS1 Classics - so people can enjoy the game they first played on the PS1 back in the day. This game will do nothing to the release of a new Darkstalkers game.
For the XBox people, blame Microsoft for not having released an XBox when the PS1 came out so they could make a port for it back then.
By the way, Sven has told me that each Capcom office handles the PS1 Classics for their respective region, IE: Capcom USA handles PS1 Classics for North America, Capcom Japan handles PS1 Classics for Asia, Capcom Europe handles PS1 Classics for Europe, so Ono has nothing to do with this release.
Okay so Ono constantly bringing up Darkstalkers at most major events isn't hinting or saying anything? also, how many of those games actually did well? Just because it comes out on PSN doesn't mean it automatically deserves a remake or sequel. Thats not what I'm trying to say nor is that my logic. I'm going off the fact that Ono has been trying his hardest to get Darkstalkers going again and blatantly ignoring a CHANCE, which this is, is not going to help at all. Also, Resident Evil 6 is in development, a new chrono game was recently released, parasite eve was recently remade for the psp, and the main character of LoK was also in a new game recently.
Okay, I almost got excited for a minute, too. *LOL* I'm trying not to be a whiner here, but I've been trying to advocate Capcom releasing Darkstalkers Collection (translated of course); the one that came out on PS2 in 2005 in Japan. As much as I'd love to show my support for Darkstalkers, I remember what the PSOne classic was like, and well....you'll see for yourself.
Also, I remember how the PSOne version of Darkstalkers was delayed, and delayed, and delayed.....and delayed when PSX. When it finally came out, people were playing and happy with Vampire Hunter on the Saturn. I dunno, outside of its soundtrack, and graphics/animation, the PSOne Darkstalkers may not be worth the time.
Just a silly little story about stupid ol' me.
I actually grew up on the Alpha games, (I'm a bit young/18 years young) but because of this fatal flaw I grew up thinking that Charlie was the main Sonic-Boomer. It wasn't until Street Fighter 4 that I learned of Guile.
But yeah, I've never owned a Darkstalker game so regardless of crappy port, I'm getting it.
@34
Resident Evil comes out consistently. It isn't like Darkstalkers where the last game came out in '98.
Chrono Trigger isn't "new". It was released as a PS1 Classic. Parasite Eve was also released as a PS1 Classic. All the PS1 Classic games were released for the same reason - for people to enjoy the games they played on the PS1 back in the day.
InitialR
FF7 is hands down one of the best selling PSN games with a reported 100,000 in it's first two weeks alone and it's been in the top selling PSN games constantly since.
Also, the thing is we don't have release date, ono hasn't confirmed this is the chance.
Also going down your list(since you don't know games):
-that chrono game was the PS1 version of Chrono trigger for PS1 classics.
-Neither Kain nor Raziel(soul reaver) have had a game since defiance which was later PS2 title(I just looked it up)
-Third Birthday wasn't a remake of Parasite Eve 1 it was a side story that they don't consider apart of the actual series and was annouced along side FF13 and VS13
-Resident Evil 6 isn't officially in development, the teaser from earlier this year was confirmed to be a fake by Capcom, The man behind 5 has said he wouldn't be doing 6, and the Co Producer of 5 said it'd take 4 to 8 years to make.
I'm not going to set here and continue debating about this. I'm not to fond of darkstalkers, so even if they were coming out with a remake I wouldn't be getting it, but you guys are just being being ignorant if you think capcom will not be looking at the sales of this game after constantly bringing it up numerous times.
@24
So you should own a PS3 in order to pay for an outdated game via d/l...
Lolno you don't NEED two systems in order to play the most inferior version in the series.
@41 Ono is pushing for a few projects to get the green light. What will large sales numbers from the DS game with the least amount of content prove? Not to mention being released on one console.
This port is a$$ in comarrison to the real thing. But I'm buying it anyway to support the franchise.
Good to see some Darkstalkers love, but the best all around Darkstalkers arcade perfect release was the Dreamcast version call "Vampire Chronicle"(it has all characters, fighting groves and stages from ALL Dakstalkers games)too bad it only came out in Japan.Capcom should have used that version, still gettin this for the love of Darkstalkers and support the franchise.
@26 Agreed, though I would have been happy with Darkstalkers Collection that only came out in Japan on the PS2. And didn't Vampire Chronicle also have a networking thing, too?
Either way, either of those 2 versions would have been a better choice to port over. Once people see the missing animations in characters like Anakaris, and Huitzil...well...again, a PSOne release just...well...
No way I'm paying for the psx version of the first one. If they release a decent port of Vampire Savior I'll buy it.
Also Capcom sure knows that fans of the franchise are that stupid to buy this one... this is for people that never got the chance to play any Darkstalkers game I guess.
Only ports worth buying are the PS2 Collection versions of Darkstalkers and SF Alpha/Zero series, which will never make it to PSN/XBL.
And while your at it,please make a Darkstalkers 4.
