Capcom has posted a document detailing their predicted sales and earnings for the fiscal year of 2011. Naturally these values apply to Capcom fighting games and are summed up below.Yeah, SF X T is a great game for the Smash Brothers fan base.
i really hope this gem stuff doesnt ruin everything. capcom gives us all the characters we wanted in sf4 only to make the game theyre in awful? that would REALLY suck. please gems. dont ruin everything.
2 milly? No problem. Its obvious they've got some tricks, announcements etc up their sleeves. Safe
2 mil easy before gems. 400,000 barely with gems.
Yeah I think it'll sell 2 million -- The combined fan base of SF4, Marvel, and Tekken should easily make that a reality. The game so far seems to cater to casual fans so it should lead to positive online/magazine reviews helping to push even more sales.
You guy's aren't very smart if you don't think this game will sell 2 million units. It's the two biggest franchises meeting in one game, and to the CASUAL market (i.e 80% of the player base) it looks epic. The casual players don't care about the gems, they just wanna see Ryu and Kazuya beat each other up.You guy's are thinking about what YOU would buy, not what the large amount of buyers would.
If the game sells two million, poongkoo will dance like this
#13 hit the nail on the head. This really reminds me of the pre SSF4 days as it was in the making.
I'm a lifelong Street Fighter and Tekken fan, and I can say I won't be buying this game.
When Capcom and NamcoBandai each do a Street Fighter vs Tekken game, I expect Capcom's game to be a Street Fighter game. I don't want something new and different. I don't want new characters. I don't want gems. I would be happier if they just through Tekken characters into SFIV.
I really hope Capcom meet their sales targets for SFXT because then they'll be able to pour more finance into SF5. That's the game I want to see sell 2M units and more.
:D
I only intended to buy the game if fei long was in it. I never played the game, but overall, the game didn't astound me or whoa me in any way. It actually wasn't even fun to watch at capcom events or streamed ones either. It might have potential to be fun, but im not digging the pandora system, and the gem system sorta just ruined it for me, and many other people as well. First off, the gems are worse than pandora in the sense that you have to use it in order to have a better chance of winning. Second, you have to pay for new ones. Its like what someone said, "a pay to win scheme". That gem system is complete garbage and the way they are taking it, it will be a group of them used in a certain way that will be overpowered or be the best. And good luck to them balancing the game when people find broken was to use them. So to end the ranting, I have no clue if they will reach that 2 million mark and i don't care. With most the details release about the game and only a few new characters to show, the game has lost its hype for me and i can see myself skipping it and just watching it from stream or live events.
This game will sell 2 mil easily. The casuals will see this game and buy it (most will drop it after a month) but since it's so casual friendly, some will play it and actually become pretty decent. EVERYONE posting comments on this and other fighting game websites will most likely buy it and play it religiously. The people that are complaining about the gems and pandora are the same ppl that complain about X-factor and the revenge meter which is dumb because those ppl are pretty good at fighting games anyway.
#24 - Casual-friendly? This game is at least as complicated as MvC3 (which in my experience, just pissed new people off). Throwing in some generic gem settings doesn't make a game "casual friendly" any more than the preset loadouts in Call of Duty.
There will definitely be a WTF factor for noobs.
Nope. Life long fan of Sf and T but I wont be buying it. -1
@ Wolfeyes187
You know only the competive scene are concerned about the Gems controversy not your average gamer. The FGC is only a small percent of those sales. If the FGC community does'nt accept the Gems with open arms it won't stop the sale of the game reaching it's goal or even close. It will sell. This also says that they are looking to make this the only version of the series meaning no Super SFxT for 3 years.
Also this is around the globe not just Japan and the US. It's doable and Capcom has the repuation to achieve it.
And @2
Considering how ridiculously well Smash Bros games have sold in the past, I guess SFxT selling 2Mil in 3 years is achievable. In case you did'nt realize it, you just gave SFxT a huge compliment. Troll harder.
How could it sell without Elena? She might have pushed it over the 2mil mark...
ya lets all judge the game by a system of gems we dont even fully understand yet. Whatever, the ppl here are becoming more and more like COD players. SF X TEKKEN WILL SELL 2 million easily, on my part, i will be buying an xbox ps3 AND pc version and then capcom can milk me all they want, cause the game is looking awesome. Gems or not, its not like am a pro and using gems is going to make me a better player. So judge it all you want, half the people saying they wont buy it will fall for the hype and end upup buying it. Ill be playing pc when it comes out but until then, just like I did with SF, SSF4 AND AE, i will buy a console just for this game.
2 million ?
They're smoking that Charlie Sheen bulls**t. Capcom isn't on Nintendo's level to be predicting those types of numerals.
Every time they post something about sfxtekken the same people come on and the post they not getting the game. Well if that's really true when they put stuff up about sfxtekken don't even read it if you not going to get it. Let the people who is still excited about the game enjoy the anticipation of game rather then coming on here and crying about the same stuff.
i think if they do some mainstream advestising etc. alot of people will buy SFxTK....hell MK9 sold 3 mil. copies so i dunno...i feel almost everybody who plays video games in general knows about street fighter or tekken, i played it and it was really fun can't deny that, but i don't see it being very popular on a cometitive basis
@#39
To be fair they've hit all their targets, with their games so far so yeah they probably are on the level where they can make 'business' forecasts
@Dudicle - How about the uneven competitive ground created by giving people more gems for buying the special edition, and even more for preordering? How about the door to paid DLC it opens, creating even more competitive disparity?
Consider, on top of all that, the fact that GEMS CAN'T BE TURNED OFF? That means if you're not willing to pay the price for gem sets, you still have to fight the people who are?
This goes against what fighting games are all about, and creates an anti-arcade environment where some people have advantages over others. And Capcom is willing to do all this, just to make some extra money on selling gems.
Rereleases, paid DLC upgrades, paid DLC extras, and now paid DLC power ups. Please notice, that over the last few years, Capcom has tried every strategy they can think of to pull more money from customers.
Its cool for the ones that dont plan to get it....your choice.... but for every -1 there is a +10,000.
@47 - I don't know for a fact that gems will be sold as DLC. But they're already giving exclusive gem packs for the special edition and preordering. That, right there, is asking people to pay for gems. And I think it's a perfectly reasonable assumption that they will sell more packs in the future.
2mil nah more like 950k
