after looking at some photos for RR i now know who groot is. lol sort of.
Glad to know that Daigo isn't blinded by nostalgia and he recognizes a good game (SF4) when he sees one.
Can't wait for SF5 to come out. I bet some of same people who bash the SF4 series now will praise SF4 as if it was the greatest thing to happen to them and shun SF5 for being "scrub friendly."
@5
Of course...It's the game that is giving him money today. When released SF 5, will be SF5, when released SF6 and will be SF6 and 7,8,9...
SF4 is a kid game. Scrubs alltime. Game, USA cry, patch, USA cry, Patch 2, USA cry...Infinite...
Same with MVC3...Same with MK...Same with non released SC5...
No more good games, only USA cry babies...RIDICULOUS.
I wonder what Tokido thinks of Daigo's comments.
"Oh no u didnt!"
@11
True. It's nice to see members of the fighting game community take pride in their appearance.
*glares at Justin Wong and Marn*
@9: I def agree with your last statement. I dont think people realize that SF4 will probably be the last game of its kind..as in, a fighter (From CC at least) that can still be taken serious and that isn't TO beginner friendly or casual.
SF5? Nah man, SF X Tekken is pretty much what itll be like. Casual fighters are the future.
(@12, If you think MVC3, SFIV, and MK9 suck, I don't think you'll handle the future too well, buddy.
I won't spoil it for you.)
Rare footage of Daigo actually looking like a Mr.Suave.

I do think SF5 will be able to come with the success of other Capcom fighters like UMvC3 and SFxTekken. I also want to say that SF5 quite possibly may be dumbed down.
Capcom is a company and has the same goal of every other company, which is to profit. My case is that online gaming is taking over big time, and most people who play online are casuals. With that being said, much of the online community is casual; Ergo, most of the money lies within casual gamers. They're making games more easy to play because the casuals just want to have fun and not have to spend time practicing to get good.
Evidence to my case is Third Strike. It may be an incredibly fun game at a high level, but the barrier is just too high for most casuals to even bother. Why do you think it took ten years for the next SF game to come out? Because everyone was content and happy with Thrid Strike? NO! It's because it didn't sell that well and a lot of people just never got into it.
@3 Groot is hilarious in the Guardian of the Galaxy comics with rocket raccoon. That is all he says "I am Groooot!" cracks me up. I hope he is in Rockets lvl 3 hyper.
there is no reason to assume SF5 will be "dumbed down." You can't assume SF5 would be like sf x tekken...which many of you haven't even played yet in itself lol. Capcom has already said numerous times that sfxt is meant to be more crazy and flashy. Let alone the fact that it's a versus game. Way different dynamics.
In my opinion, SF4 isn't even dumbed down really from third strike. All SF4 did was ease up the execution of motions with leniency and shortcuts. This allowed people a lower barrier to entry. But SF4 in some ways is just as tough to master. The only thing about third strike is due to parrying and the dependence on hit confirms, footsie mastery is probably more important in third strike than the other SF games. To be able to survive, you need to know the entire arsenal of the character you are fighting to stand much of a chance. Plus, parrying rewards very fast reactions and the ability to read people to a much higher degree than reading people in other SF games. Things like the ability to truly zone, and having a fear of jumping since it is such a risk, are major parts of SF that are back in SF4 but absent from third strike. Third strike is amazing, but it barely feels like an SF game in comparison.
That being said, Daigo is right that the general public would probably be much more excited to hear of a SF5 to be released in the near future rather than another update. Personally, I think this game deserves more time in the limelight now that the final version (hopefully) is almost here. I really don't want to hear about another SF game in development until like 2013 lol, and hopefully to be released in 2014 at the earliest.
@26
yea, diago has already said its sf2 and alpha 3. Like most of the older guys they play sf4 cause its popular/is credited with bringing the fighting games back but i doubt years from now they will give a crap about it.
About Akuma:
"Let's see... Well, not all balance changes are written in stone yet, but judging on what is known now, I think his changes fit me the best, so I'm practicing".
The translation was off. He didn't say SF4 was his favorite but credited it for turning him into a pro
i don't understand this fear that you guys have that future capcom titles might be "dumbed down". i'll assume you mean having a lower skill ceiling which has been the complaint of just about every sequel to a competitive game.
starcraft, dota, cs were all considered perfect then a sequel (or in cs's case a new fps title) comes along and suddenly everyone's terrified. they claim that the sequel is a dumbed down version of the original. multiple building selection and being able to view mana bars in plain sight is a sin and it lowers the skill ceiling.
it feels like every time a new fighting game comes out the community goes through this end of the world phase and it's getting tiresome. street fighter 4 may be easier than street fighter 3 but all of the players are still at their respective skill level right? daigo's been dominating tournaments left and right and it's not like our local talents have disappeared into obscurity just because a new title was released.
is it really worth alienating new players for some absurdly technical fighting game? even in its heyday street fighter 3 had a rather niche following.
SF x Tekken will be the dumbest game ever made. I mean autoblocking and autoteching seriously? Are they trying to cater to people with down syndrome? Some autistic kid is gonna make top 8 at evo in this stupid game.
@26 & @27
Alex Valle said SF4 is one of his favorite in the SF series.

First off Daigo needs to back up off Akuma right nao. I don't want him on my character.
Second off #32 please don't talk about CS and the FPS scene because you don't know what you're talking about. CS 1.6 is still the largest competitive FPS in the world. More tournaments, more money, more sponsorships than any other FPS. When CS:S was announced, the community was excited, not terrified. When we got to play the game, we were outraged, and to this day still are. Now that CS:GO is being made, the community is extremely skeptical and already greeting the game with slander and hatred.
You've just been learned.
"First off Daigo needs to back up off Akuma right nao. I don't want him on my character."
How does this affect you?
Daigo's picked characters ranked to be the top since he got sponsored.
But he's won Evo twice with a character he liked and fit him, Ryu. With Ryu getting some good buffs, I wonder if he'll make his way back.
I think it wouldn't be bad if he mained Ryu and used Guile or Akuma for some bad match-ups.
Closed Captions aren't working for me. Is anyone else getting this error?
#45: and just how many people actually watch cs 1.6? any sponsorship can be considered large in cs since most sponsors don't actually pay their members. outside of 2 major tournaments cs 1.6 is deader than dead. it really doesn't help that fps games have exploded since 2000 either.
maybe fps games wasn't a good example since it's in the same boat as wow where it's boring for spectators but regardless your post is outdated by several years.
LOL @12...perfect irony...someone crying about cry babies...gotta love the internet
So Daigo admits to tier whoring... I hope people are satisfied.
Capcom should not dumb down future games.
1. SF4 brought revived the tourney scene like 100x
2. Casual players in their hearts want to be and idolize tourney players: e.g., Daigo, Mike Ross etc. The reason they aren't tourney players is not b/c they don't want to but b/c of the prohibitive cost of money and time.
3. If you come out with a game that the Tourney players do not think is tourney-worthy, it will not be at Tourneys, no excitement about the game.
4. Casual players are unlikely to pick up a game that has been deemed scrub-friendly by their tourney idols. If they do buy it, it just reinforces the fact that they are scrub casual players. No, many FGC casual players think themselvs as hardcore, not scrubby.
hope that makes sense.
CS analogy is apt. CSS is a MUCH easier game than 1.6. I spent two years grinding in 1.6 back in the day, and I can only call myself a decent player. But I am godlike everytime I enter a CSS server. My gunfire is faster, more accurate, and players appear as giants b/c they re-proportioned the maps to players. The first time I played de_Dust on CSS, I thought they shrank the maps.
Dang still no Rocket Raccoon. I am Groooot!
