The M.Bison guide here on EventHubs has been updated to its latest version.
Bison is a very strong character with a gameplan of "whittling rushdown" that is meant to apply pressure from start to finish. His defense is also super good with a backdash, an invincible teleport and four invincible EX moves.
M.Bison is a space control character with powerful pokes and fast walk speed. The dictator also has some of the most powerful corner pressure in the game with scissor kick and poke lockdown. Bison also has some of the best defensive options in the game with five different invincible reversals.
Bison isn't without his problems though. He has a lot of trouble dealing damage in almost every situation except a point blank punish. His Ultras can't assist him well in a match and he doesn't have a consistent anti-air option. Bison's jump is also extremely floaty, making him very easy to anti-air.
The Dictator is also one of the strongest charge characters in the game and has been said to handle the top tier of AE very well.
lol it is true that a lot of bison players think theyre the sh1t but i dont hate bison or the majority of bison players. i respect dat Bipson.
wow theres alot of salty people here. and lol @ "ex psycho beats everything".
Bison is my main and there's no way he's a no skill character. Easy to pick up but very difficult to master. His FADC options are very limited and getting good damage on punishes can be difficult also. Plus think of all the bad match-ups he has too.
Bison is pretty cool. I used him a lot in Super and I might use him again in 2012. Great Character to have in your arsenal.
@12 ive used fuerte since vanilla. awful character. also a match in bisons favor. ex psycho is punishable and very easy to OS. obviously my temporarily non main sh1t character Mr.Fuerte cant OS to beat it but he can still safe jump it. as can any other character.there are also many times where its thrown.
again lol @ mashing out ex psycho. i dont main bison but if i did it would hurt to hear you scrubs whine like this. learn the match up guys. please.
I hate Bison but I love the retro theme music from SFII: World Warrior. So intense.
Bison gives me the fits, that darn light scissors kick is ridiculous. So is his standing roundhouse. Total madness.
Super aggressive Dictators are HELL you hear me HELL to handle!!
Out...
Im a bison mainer, he takes skill to use, u gotta have good knowledge of what beats what to excell, otherwise u gonna be taking some bad trades and its gonna end up bein a dirty fight. his damage output is low, some chars punish for like 250+ damage. bison cant punish that much not without charge, and its hard to have a charge for that kinda damage when you are playing footsies all the time. as a bison mainer, no consistent AA is something i struggle with a lot. also people who know how to option select are hell for bison. i barely jump in as bison, its just too risky against competent players. when you play bison u gotta accept that taking risks can be really bad and not in your favor so if you have lifelead you have to remember the timer is on your side and if i have to time out the match so be it. alot of people start picking up bison and start doing what i call "mindless rush down," that still will get u owned by competent players.
wow look at all the whiners, geez
@Boosterdetector....s.f and s.rh are amazing but don't forget about c.short, c.f, and c.strong, those are great too. lt sks are his tool and u want to safety throw out as much as possible, while it is safe on block, it isn't on whiff and it doesn't have invincible start up so most characters can hit him out of the start up. 3 short scissor isn't exactly easy mode especially online but c.jab-s.jab-c.mk-sk is an easy combo and its a true block string unlike short short short sk which can be reversaled. Bison may have options on his wake up but everything he can do is safe jumpable/os'able Learn the match. u2 on wake up works on most characters not all and even less if they have meter. What most people who don't play bison don't understand is his biggest asset is his mobility, he has the fastest walk speed in the game and one of the longest quickest forward dashes in the game. Top tier bison players win by spacing and knowing how and when to get their damage and get out, nothing flashy. Im not saying im top tier, but thats generally what you see Kim1234/AndyOCR/Big Marcus doing
To all the people saying ex crusher beasts everything and hard to punish, seriously have you ever played bison? dps beats ex crusher, hell even ex tetsu trade with it, depending on the distant you block, it can be easily punished after a block. Seriously alot of whiny @$$ trolls here who dont know the game well and pretending they do....
yea Im talking to you #14
yeah i'd say bison has a a easy to moderate learning curve in the beginning, but when people start to get good and know how to take advantage of his anti air weaknesses, and option select against his easy mode escapes (which are really good at a low level of play), bison gets substantially harder to play and it takes some really good mind reading on the part of the bison player.
I love me some Bison, but at high level play. Bison gets knocked down once and he gets Option selected to hell, lacking good damage in the FADC department and coupled with any good punishing options. Its a predictable up hill battle but all the more satisfying. As the article states, If you can put the pressure on early, you can really finish the match quick. Just want skull crusher to hit both sides :P
Cool to have comebacks with him though.
I've used Bison online. My left hand on the stick and my face, cheek bone to be specific, on the HK button.
Did I win?
Of course I did since Bison is a "super difficult and technical" character... That literally only needs one button to win.
You can literally restrict yourself to one button and still be a pretty big threat in every walk of the game with this character.
Lol, most people don't know how to deal with his aerial moves (same as Vega) and getting past his roundhouse, lol.
Bison doesn't deal big damage, he's good when he lames you out. Bison was so disadvantaged against Guile it wasn't even funny. He has bad match-ups, just learn them.
Bison can be a cheap character....but no cheaper than Ken with his retarded priority DPs.
Ewww man some disgusting comments in here. I really don't get the Bison hate. The guy has no dmg output, weak mixup, and for some reason they make it sound like he has awesome reversals but that's wrong. Like #28 says, in a low-level environment Bison is mad strong and easy to use, but in mid/high-level play he's much much harder. Pretty advanced in my opinion.
Personally I really like how the OG characters are kinda "simple" in their moveset, but all about fundamentals. Characters such as Dictator, Honda, Guile, Ryu, well most SFII characters anyway. I'm not saying I don't like the other ones, but simple moveset doesn't mean simple-to-use character.
I don't understand why they're buffing his scissor kicks. If anything they should make the light one unsafe.
It's the fact EX Psycho Crusher is too good. If your knocked down and in doubt, CRUSHHHAAA. If you predict it and safe jump they still achieve getting out of your face and going to a safe position on block. It breaks momentum and mix-ups. RANT RANT RANT RANT RANT. RANT OVER NOW. ¬_¬
Eventhubs once again proving that the majority of the posters are terrible at Street Fighter. EX Psycho Crusher beats everything... except safe jumps, option selects to throws, option selects to shoryu, and simple baiting. Damn gaiz, this move is so good. Bipson has zero safe wake-up, low damage output, low stun, and low health. He's solid as hell, but he requires a lot of skill to use and win successfully.
@38 You and all the other idiots clearly do not understand what was meant by it beat's everything so I guess I'll explain it more clearly. If you safe jump and block the move it doesn't mean your beating it, because the Bison player still gets away safely, not every character can punish it either.
You can't punish a move that's -16 on block? Good job bro. You can literally walk up and punish it with some characters as opposed to having to do a reversal. Step your game up before bitching about a move that is really not that good.
I main Honda, and I beat most of Dictators I face... I don't think he's that dangerous... he's good at the "catch me if you can" game (somewhat like Dhalsim or Claw), but I don't think he's very hard to beat... I don't play fireballs characters, but I can't really imagine Dictator beating easily characters like Ryu, Sagat or Guile... Dictator is clearly not the character that makes me say "oh nooooo" when I see my opponent picking him lol
@Darkyellow I have nothing against Bison personally but you obviously don't understand the term "beat". It means it either reversals or goes through any move free.
You bring up baiting (which is basically blocking) and frame disadvantage on block...both of which have absolutely nothing to do with the topic. No specials beat block so what you're mentioning is irrelevant to the argument.
Maybe you should actually think about what you're saying to make sure you're actually on topic before throwing insults.
Anyone that can't beat, punish, or complains about EX PC being too good is a scrub. Over HALF the characters in the game can punish a BLOCKED EX Crusher with their ultra. It gets beat CLEAN on wake up, on reaction by throws and even weaker moves than DP's like jump kicks and other normals beat it CLEAN and lets not forget the DP. It gets destroyed by option selects. Sagat can punish it from ANYWHERE with kara TU into FULL ULTRA EASILY, even when he has Bison cornered and is right next to him and blocks it so its NEVER safe against Sagat on block. In short.. EVERY CHARACTER IN THE GAME HAS A WAY TO BEAT EX CRUSHER! Which means it doesn't beat everything (and I'm being generous there).
Light scissors does only 90 damage.. I think it deserves to be safe on block. The only time it has this great pressure is when someone's cornered (SO DON'T GET FRIGGIN CORNERED DUH!)and that was in Super.. Now thats been change because of the pushback added in AE so there's less scissor pressure. Anyone thinking this 90 damage SPECIAL move is too good.. What the heck are you threatened by if your blocking? And even if you get hit ITS ONLY 90 DAMAGE!
Bison doesn't have a wakeup game worth mentioning. Cross-up Crusher is weak and gets DP'd or ultra'd on reaction not to mention blocked by even MEDIOCRE players most of the time. Cross-up MK gets DP'd ON BLOCK.. yes.. ON BLOCK
Anyone complaining about st mk or st hk just doesn't know how to space themselves properly or block for that matter... scrub.
everyone listen to #35
hes the best SF player on earth so we should all tell Capcom to take his advice and make Bison weaker. like he said, we should nerf his light SK so thats its unsafe on block...also lets make his st.Roundhouse a 35 frame start-up with 1 active frames and 35 frame recovery...while were at it make Bison lose 10 HP everytime he uses any normal, and if the Bison player has the health lead...he automatically loses.
happy scrubs? if this is the kind of Bison you want, you either absolutely suck at this game, or your just trolling and have nothing better to do with your lives then bash a fictional character. poor EventHubs community :(
btw for the Bison players out there i found out another way to combo into Ultra 1 that i have NEVER and i repeat NEVER, seen.
timing is tricky and it wont work all the time but its something to know if it ever does happen.
(corner only) wake-up Head Stomp (can be blocked or hit doesnt matter), when you see them jump straight up (and trust me a LOT of players jump straight up when they get hit by a HS) use an immediate EX Skull Bash, and then as there landing land an Ultra 1 (havent tried it with U2 yet but feel free). great damage and once you get the hang of it very easy to land.
Bison is only intimidating if you don't know the match up. I main Bison here in Japan and I can't get away with any of the things everyone is complaining about...
1) st.mk/st.hk - focus them. Bison's pokes are not special cancelable, so you can hit him after you focus, or just focus-dash-throw. If you're still getting hit, then you're just being stupid (eg. you're too close / you're jumping)
2) scissors - all scissors can be counter hit with a straight normal at head level. (eg. Ryu's st. mp, Dudley's st. hp, etc.) if a scissor kick is counter hitting you, it usually means you're trying to attack low, in which scissors is going over your limb... bison gets no frame advantage after a blocked lk.scissor, if he attempts a second, your normal is faster and will counterhit
remember that only lk scissors is safe on block, but that only has a certain range... space yourself so that you are out of range for the first scissors hit such that you focus only the second hit of scissors.
nowadays, i can't get away with any scissors at all because most characters can focus the first hit and backdash the second... so any non-reversal/non-blockstring scissor kick gets punished.
3) EX-PC - it's NOT throw-invincible. safe jump, option select, meaty... there are even several cross ups that hit Bison out of it... non-ex Tatsus come to mind (they also option select for back teleports)
4) devil's reverse, headstomp - jump back + hit, focus, shoryuken? some characters have an ultra-low crouching normal that avoids the whole thing altogether.
For all you Bison's out there... I understand your pain. It's such a battle just to get damage in. Anyone that knows the matchup knows exactly how to avoid big damage (don't jump forward). It's like rock-scissors-paper for <100 damage while risking an ultra to the face.
M.Bison is a bitch. This should be the description :D
