@3. No because what will happen when 10 years from now we still want to play it but servers are shut down and their is no real way too download it? Do we depend on community members to bring old hard drives? That's rough man and a big issue with downloadable stuff I would like a disc as well.

Sf4 is a fun game, but it ain't no third strike. 10 years from now no one will care about anything but vanilla, and that'll be for nostalgic purposes, MAYBE super at best...

5 months to do one patch?
I guess they're pouring their heart and soul into the Gem system after all...

You guys do understand that they have 39+ characters to look at and balance accordingly. Not to mention they are taking our feed back and actually had the right mind to actually do location test and take our feedback. Ono said he wanted to take his time with AE 2012 and it seems they are working hard for a free patch. They are not getting any money from this patch WE DEMANDED IT lol.

Capcom take your time and balance this game correctly and im looking forward to the end of november for the final list. Thank you for taking time out and balancing this game.

@7 I love me 3rd Strike but only reason it lasted that long is because of no SF4. With 3s being a no-show at SBO 2011, I feel like everyone has moved on now. America has never cared about 3s and now that Japan has seemingly moved on, it's pretty much dead.

You would have been better off using Super Turbo as an example. Now that game is a classic. It's always at SBO and was always at Evo either as a main game or as a side tournament (ex: Casino Cup @ EVO this year)

@Mikado
Third Strike along with other games are going to be at SBO2 or whatever, this winter.

There is an issue of cost as patches cost money so Capcom is actually losing money with 2012 and doesn't have the luxury of making mistakes. While Mortal Kombat's balances are saved online which bypasses patching but must be synced everytime the game is launched or you're back to the default version.

#7 Its not really about which ones the best SF. Most of the time, its the fighting game that really hooked you to the genre that you will want to pick up even after a long time has past. And there it will probably be the latest Version that you can hold on to, if the feel stays the same. So i think, its a valued concern that its not on Cd even thou i think its not necissary to make a Cd out of a small update. And its probably not going to be the last version anyway. In 10 years we will have a remake that has a better resolution and updates the online features or something.

#8 2012 takes so long because of testing. And i think the Mortal Kombat system isn't very good. Just imagine going online one day and all of a sudden your links dont work anymore because the frame data has changed. And if you arent a tournament player, you should just play the game. What do you care about tiers?

#10 The reason why Third Strike has such a faithfull fanbase is because its the most unique Street Fighter out there. And yeah, the fanbase is small, but i would say its the most faithfull one, because for the guys that are left, Third Strike is the best Street Fighter ever. At least the Guys that were left before Online Edition came out. Now a lot more picked it up, and maybe they will develop that same love.

Gonna be a long November for SFxT.

Maybe another teaser in Nov then announcement of Gems removed in December along with Sakura & Karin jumping from a plane trailer.

lol.

The announcements for SFXT are reaaaally slowin' down. I'd assume that all the characters in the final teasers are probably the final characters to be included. At least for now.

Also, people need to quit complaining about gems. Seriously.

I really hope they give T.Hawk something good this time around, he needs it. Being able to do light moves into EX Condor Spire would be nice.

Id like to see any of those changes happening to cammy
-increased throw range
- lessened cannon strike(dive kick) height restriction
- faster startup on spinning knuckle.

But also i feel like chars like t.Hawk, hakan, gen needmore love, for the sake of variety capcom should buff them also.

Man I must say I *Love* the fact Capcom is putting so much care into this free balance update. I'm confident things will overall turn out well in the end...I mean the amount of time, taking feedback both from unity forums and high level players suggestions from the multiple loketests they've had? Any reasonable mature person could not ask for more ^_^

I hope Capcom fixes the matchup between Guy and Zangief. That's totally 9-1 in Gief's favor :\. Not likely though since they keep mindlessly buffing Zangief X_X.

#25 i think you are playing it wrong. If Gief vs. Guy is a 9:1 what is Gief against Makoto? At least Guy has range on his normals and can cancel into specials without getting spd'ed even on hit. For makoto to actually cancel into a special always means one ex meter.

I hear there's a bug in 2012 where Ryu's fierce dp can't be fadc'ed hope they've fixed that. That change makes less and less sense each day.

I still can't believe people still talk about balancing this this game. Capcom could throw a grenade at AE and it wouldn't change anything. Viper will still be good and Hakan will still be crap etc...

@28
I don't think that's a bug. It seems like a conscious decision of Yoshinori Ono and his battle director (the guys responsible for the Gem system and the downfall of SFxT)

street fighter has no "servers". the matchmaking is handled by sony / microsoft's master server. the actual "lobby" is p2p based.

@26

You still don't get it do ya. Some of these whiners complaining about balance really don't want a balanced game at all.

They talk about balance to decieve others, but at the same time, they do things in order to try to manipulate the producers into making their own favorite characters into the strongest.

Many people want Capcom to rush, they hope that if Capcom rushes, then there's a chance that their own favorites might be buffed to top-tier status.

Announcement doesn't rule out teasers. And remember Ono said this will be his biggest SF roster ever. And SSF4 AE has 39 characters. So we are not close. Look for teasers this month. Just no gameplay or system announcements.

@ #16, Smorgasboard: what are you talking about? MK patches are a single download. The only way to go back to v1.00 is to erase the game data.
