I'm guessing he is one of those people that like phoenix but not dark phoenix. If phoenix is you favorite x-men character and you want to use her on point your kind of screwed. You kind of have to use her last witch is not bad if your a tournament player, but if you just playing around with your friends it kind of disappointing. You also never get to hear any of her cool intro dialogue because of it.
No character loyalty in the tournament circuit is there.

Honestly, the only nerf I wanted Phoenix to have was losing the ability to jump up and spam homing fireballs. Her health was fine the way it was. I've been thinking for the longest time that they should just take Dark Phoenix out and double the amount of health Phoenix originally had.

It's clear that that guy only picked her because of how brain-dead and powerful she was. And on the topic of GFWL, even though I don't play fighting games on PC I still think Capcom should avoid using it as it's a really poor system. Microsoft has more or less stopped supporting GFWL anyway.

And this is exactly why CC is turning to these casual BS systems and handicaps :\ just practice the game. Tbh the ranked & Championship system werent so bad in SF4, you as far as I know can't fight someone that has 3K pp if you have like 300 for E.G Not saying points equal skill, but still.
Yeah, the health nerf is lame at 375,000, even with 420,000 one combo could still knock her out. What are they going to do next, nerf her down to 200,000 lol. I'd say put her back to 420 where she was and trying to make someone use of other characters is also lame. The nerfing business is just lame on it's own, all they needed to do with Phoenix is just simply take her damage down and gave her around 750,000 of health. Phoenix is no longer viable or even the Phoenix she's now a joke to use.

Her damage output is toned down. With hitstun scaling also effecting x-factor. X-factor also to a hit in the damage department. These were all indirect nerfs to dark phoenix.

#60: Oh, no, Hulk is by no means top tier. But his online shenanigans he can pull with his armor and his high damage output can be ridiculous. He's a very easy character when it comes to abusing lag/poor netcode.
Hopefully, that'll be fixed in Ultimate, but with all the buffs they're giving him...

I'll admit the health nerf is a bit much considering how much harder it will be to build meter in umvc3. Honestly they should have nerfd her obnoxious dark damage output and then call it a day. That 1st answer was great. I'm probably going to use Phoenix anyway because I'm a huge X-Men fan and she's always been one of my favorite characters. Her health nerf isn't even that big of a deal. I see people saying if she gets snapped in she's dead...that's exactly how it was in vanilla unless the person dropped his/her combo.

other than that I can't wait to see how I can remake my strategys with nerfs and buffs. although akuma is no longer a high health tier it;s good to see a new glass cannon character I can use (that was in original MvC3)
I am looking forward to making new combos and teams. ;) and SFxT I just wish can come out soon since I wanna use rufus and Ken on the same team. (they are rivals in martial arts, but as a team I wanna see how well it goes)

@63 what you are failing to realize is that she has double the health plus instant combo breaker. That is why they are lowering her health. So Strider wont have the least health in the game.

Online, he's got insane shenanigans. Nearly every 3rd to high lord I come across who uses Hulk has an 80% win rate(compared to waves of Wolvie/Akumas with 60%). I'll let that speak for itself.
Also, my zoning is blown up if he hits an assist with Gamma Wave. He can keep doing that until they die unless I go in(which is what he wants), but without assists, my zoning game isn't too strong(Tron/Sent/Dante. Sent's laser's slow, Dante's projectiles aren't too strong or locking aside from Hysteric, even then.)
Don't get me wrong, I have a friend who mains Hulk, I have no problem against him since we play offline. Online, however, is a much different story.

It's funny how before and after the release of Marvel 3, Seth and Christian were saying how Phoenix was MEANT to be as overpowered as she was (although good luck getting anyone on here to admit ANYONE is overpowered) because she's the destroyer of planets and how there couldn't be such a thing as 'Junior Dark Phoenix'. Less than six months later, they're handing out so many crippling nerfs (both directly and indirectly) that they ARE making Jean Grey a junior DP.

Dumbed down? Well deserved nerfs does not equal dumbing her down.
Phoenix not being able to spam tracking fireballs that don't go away is NOT dumbing her down, it's fixing a brain-dead problem. Limiting the amount of projectiles she can spam at you and making them go away when she gets hit is fair game.
Her health nerf really doesn't make that much of a difference since any character's BnB combo could already kill her anyway.
Her teleport being less effective was necessary because she's already highly mobile as it is, she didn't need an instant teleport that lead to death a majority of the time.
I could go on but I think you get the point.

She did not lose 98% of her effective tools, quit over-exaggerating. All of her BnB combos and deadly traps are still there, and she still does a lot of damage. There's a reason why some players like F.Champ are planning to continue sticking with her.
Only scrubs think she's worthless now; scrubs like the guy Sven responded to that are crying because they can't rely on brain-dead tactics any more and have to put effort into playing her now.

You can still win easily or lose easily. That's Dark Phoenix. Sorry, but Phoenix is not meant to be a "normal" character. You shouldn't have gotten attached to her in that manner, and that's your own issue.
I mean, I use Hsien-Ko, and sometimes I don't even activate the Super Armor (which I always should---because it's not like she's got too much else going for her). I've won a good share and lost a good share---if I can handle that, Phoenix users can handle, gee, idk, a NORMAL character.
(I might agree the health nerf was a teeny bit much).

I dont understand all of you saying that Jean should lose dark and get double health, every character has a gimmick that makes them famous, spider uses webs(not sure why he doesn't wall climb) , hulk is strong, captain america's shield protects him from every attack, and Jean? She is most famous for the dark Phoenix saga which not only does she DIE and RESURRECT like a Phoenix, but she loses control of her power and becomes the dark angel, chaosbringer called dark Phoenix.
Granted Jean never resurrected as dark Phoenix instantly, she always became dark Phoenix at one point after each resurrection. Removing that is like removing ryu's hadoken, it's his defining characteristic.
well... i was a phoenix player in early days, i drooped cuz at that moment my intention was become good enough whit some midle tire character for avoid nerfs for especific characters like phoenix, we all know that is a very broken character and easy the top tire in mvc3, if you look at the dictionary the word cheaper a pic of phoenix appear next to, there is no discution on all that, but in my opinion they nerfed to much... the aerial x factor befit a lot, is true, for that reason i think he takes the most nerfs in game, the TK shot into teleport take away many mix up option, many many phoenix player do only that way, he has much more option but that was his main to me.
for me his nerfs are to much and i think more than he can take, it will be no longer the top tire character that he was (still it is until nov 15) his option are limited and his life? come on even a retard can do 400k combo... but thats not the point... the general game changes afect him much more than his nerf, the TAC changes, the NO LONGER block on air-dash, the assist hitstunn deterioration, the 10% less at building meter, all that plus his nerfs is equal to Death Phoenix, the air xfactor benefit a lot to him also the changes on snapbacks but for me he wil not going to handle.
note: the no longer block on air dash and assist deteriration can benefit to her zooning game but it can kill him too.

It's as if The devs forgot about phoenix altogether and want people to just use dark phoenix. what depth is there left for regular phoenix to use as a character.
The devs should have just nerfed aka 'adjusted" phoenix's and/or dark phoenix's most abusable moves and left hear health alone as it is. now she is almost "unplayable" even as a point character in the end.

Well Phoenix has always been my main worry but thats why i learned ways with my joe and morrigan to stop her at her transformation. Morrigan has always been my phoenix-killer, Even more now in UMVC3 but i wont have to worry about her as much it seems :/
