Buzzfocus did an interview with the producer of Street Fighter X Tekken Yoshinori Ono. Ono-san goes into some of the finer details of developing the Tekken characters, even compares Street Fighter X Tekkn to Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 and even some details about the story mode of the game.

Are we going to have to pay for DLC gems to see the endings of characters?

Nice DB shirt, Ono-san. Im not really digging the gems. Could be ok to make my own style but I will not be paying for no damn dlc gems.

I want to interview Ono so I can ask him this very important question:

In original SF4's ending for Fei Long, Seth is mysteriously stabbed in the back. Who did it?

(You didn't hear it from me, but final boss of SFxT:

If you have gems disabled, you instantly lose round one and have to fight Devil Gem(x5) Pandora Dan. He has 20 seconds to kill you and the testers lose 93% of the time.

If you use gems, you fight a Quad team of Onochin and Onochin Jr. and Harada and Kuma. They both fight with their (respective) partner out, and the trick is to get one of them to use Pandora and make them waste it(killing their partner), but you skill have to kill the pair that's alive.)

If I were to take a wild guess as to who the boss team would be, my guess is Devil Jin & Shin Akuma, both powered up in unlimited Pandora Mode.

I was gonna buy this game, coz I was so psyked for it... and then I saw the stupid Gem system. And now am just gonna wait for the Tekken version of the crossover, coz gems just make gameplay crappy

#9 i don't think those two are even going to be in this game, in fact i think this time around its quite possible we won't see any shin/orochi/devil/evil characters in this game and thank God, so tired of all those really, lets take Ryu give him reddish look, red burning eyes and speed up his attacks and specials and call it "standalone character" boooring...as for bosses of this game, i think there will be two unplayable bosses and i think of something like Oni and Jinpachi (evil form) probably...

Some people need to quit taking this the wrong way. These gems as far as I see are kinda the same in choosing your ultra in SF4 or Super Art in 3S.

That and it'll help with some bad match-ups. Zangief against Sagat/Akuma/Chun was pretty hard for Gief because he has trouble getting in. With the speed boost, it'll make it a little easier and less frustrating. This is just one of many different situations that are balanced out that was once difficult, but made easy.

Another example could be Dhalsim getting a defence boost. When he'd get rushed down, he'd have a poor time and not a lot to get the opponent off of him. With the defence boost, he's able to take more hits and hang in there a little longer.

Just think about your character and how they could get past these bad match ups with gems.

I think the gem system is a great idea kinda like a RPG/FG it makes it possible to really cater to your you type of style and makes each fight way more unique I know most people are wanting a standard FG with nothing to crazy... But it brings a whole new spectrum into the fighting game world ... Now if I have to buy gems I'm gonaa be FU***** PI****!!

It's balancing without updates in my mind so try don't have to continue balacing games and stretching their recourses and can focus on other projects instead o continually balancing the same game so BAM gems

EVERYONE SHOULD READ THIS!

everybody on this damn site is going crazy about the gems in sfxt! NOW, IF U WANT TO KNOW WHAT THESE GEMS WILL BE LIIKE WHEN THIS GAME COMES OUT, DO THIS... IF U HAVE A PS3 GO DOWNLOAD "STREET FIGHTER ALPHA 3" ON PSN FOR $5.99 AND PLAY THE WORLD TOUR MODE. AS U PLAY ALONG IN THE WORLD TOUR MODE U ACHIEVE THESE "GEMS" THAT ALL HAVE DIFFERENT CAUSES LIKE DOUBLE DAMAGE, AUTO BLOCK, AND SO ON..

NOW THE ONLY TRUE DIFFERENCE SFXT WILL HAVE IS THAT THE GEMS WILL ONLY BE ACTIVATED THROUGH CERTAIN EXECUTIONS IN BATTLE (ON OFFENCE AND DEFENCE.) IF U DARE, TRY WHAT I'VE JUST TOLD U, AND BY THE WAY, SF ALPHA 3 IS A HOT GAME!

I think the gem system give a wider variety and people always talk about competitive play well that turns a whole lot of fights into very interesting matchups it's gonna be legendary

Only because old tournament guys try to run tournaments trying to make the most perfect feel of the arcade. Thats why Marvel vs capcom 2 was always made on dreamcast, cvs2 on ps2... and so on.

SxT is the most revolutionary fighting game of this generation. Can just be not that liked and simply not popular, or revolution the way competitive fighting game is played.

@#21- they were saying something about "thinking out of the box" for characters a while back, so hopefully, that might mean Ono making some sort of appearance. That would be hilarious!

At the VERY least I want Ono and Harada fighting each other in the background of one of the stages (dressed as Ryu and Paul respectively)

Capcom said they ARE listening to fans, right? I wonder if Ono knows that most of the SF community doesn't want these gems. Just give em back the focus attack system, take the stupid gems out, and for the sake of the holey moley, please put in Mokujin instead of an ? option. and PLEASE put in the tall grass stage that take place in Australia in SF Alpha 2, the one with the lightning in the background. then... have a coke and a smile

@28

I read somewhere that Harada will start focusing on it after SfxT has first been released. He has his hands full with Tekken Tag Tournament 2 and trying to decide where to have lunch

How many people are still 100% excited for this game after learning about gems?

I would not have been surprised in the least if Ono would have said character endings would also be dlc...

On a different note. Onos translator is really awesome. No wonder hes traveling around with him in America. Hes doing an awesome job.
