Here come the MM whiners and wanna-be fighting game elitists.

Fighting games are likely going to start declining in sales due to casual gamers leaving fighting games. Ono was saying that casual players have left Street Fighter since the hardcore gamers overwhelmed the casual players. He wants to draw in the casual gamers with the Gem system, but that is only one mechanic of SF X Tekken to learn. There are a variety of mechanics that will alienate new players since they will need to know these concepts to stand a slight chance. Tag, Cross Assault, chargeable Supers, Pandora, Ex Attack, Supers and Gems sound a bit overwhelming for any casual player to get into.

Good interview. I especially liked the portion of the interview where he describes why fighting games declined in the past.

Seth Killian is probably my favorite video game industry person to listen to in interviews and such

Good stuff. Seth Killian really seems like a likeable guy.

Anyway, I'm fairly new to the genre, but I think fighting games should be hard and fairly inaccessible. They should take a lot of work and when someone is better than you it should show.

@NoizyChild grow up, f*ggot. that joke is old, geez, u see it on EVERY mvc3 thread. i do expect some MM comments tho, not that i dnt sympathise with it. lol so if fans complain about how hard a move is 2 do, u'll work on it, Capcom? i wish you'd change Spiderman's Web swing back to his b.fireball motion. a backwards dp motion makes his combos so inconvenient, and its not like u gave him a new move to REPLACE the b.fireball command. i think that alone is why spidey users are so rare online, & I mained him in mvc1 & 2. lol what makes it worst is that while Spidey has to do a backwards DP motion, Taskmask's web swing is faster, and just as good 4 combos and pressure(if not better),all while only having to do forward H. lmao wtf capcom. plz patch Spidey's Swing

Funny coming from someone who seems just as eager to complain and has no grasp of proper English, grammar, or punctuation.

The market's already saturated before Capcom can get out anything other than Street Fighter and VS Capcom. I swear Capcom sucks so much ass, now.

Well if you're a fan of anything besides Marvel and Street Fighter, might as well kiss it good bye.

@8: A reverse fireball would overlap with the command throw command.
I use spiderman on the side and I've never found the reverse DP to be a problem.

@8 & 15
At first the bdp motion for spidey was a little strange to me because I was use to the bfireball command but, I got use to it pretty quick and #15 you're I think the bfireball command could overlap with the command throw as well.

But hey, he's a got an otg now and I think that's something all spidey users should be excited about.

i can't stand this "fighting game are too hard talk",
sf2 is easiest to get into than sf3 yes, but how many people are really good with the parry system(i'm not),
i just played about 8 match on psn and only 1 was good at parry, that didn't stop us(other casual players) to have fun, we just played it like there was no parry (tried to do some once in a while to get better),
i know that parry is an essential part of sf3 but even casual players can have great fun with it

the best way for a game such as umvc3 to succed online is to have a good match making, that way casual will have fun among themselves even if they can't make a 99 hit combo cause no matter what is your level of skills fighting game are great fun

@17 Sadly, it's true. I have friends and family that pick up the controller, can't figure it out for the first few minutes, and don't want to play it. And that was MVC3 simple mode. It's not that it's too hard, it's just some people don't want to try and they don't find it amusing.
Who are these people? The overwhelming majority of non-fighting gamers, and non-gamers.

@Snow oh, look, a know-it-all prick. didnt think i'd run into one of those. i guess it's just a habit of texting, or messaging too much, but my english, grammar, & punctuation are all just fine, jack*ss. i didnt mispell anything to the point you couldn't understand it.All i did was replace "you" with "u", and took out the last letters of words like "know", making them "kno", "don't" to "dnt". Do u really not understand. No one is impressed by a smartass, this is the INTERNET, on a GAMING WEBSITE, not an English class, dillhole. now be gone

@15 i see, idk though man, still, it would still be much easier if they just made it a reverse hadoken motion again. you may not have trouble with it, & for that i salute you & all, but MvC3 Spidey just one of those characters i feel is more execution heavy, especially if you're doing all those UWT resets.it hurts to use Spidey under lag, especially when you're up against the likes of braindead characters like Sentinel and Diveki-i mean Wolverine.

& idk about all u Spidey users out there, but i absolutely HATE how ppl can crouch under his standing M. lol my bad if i seem like im whining, idk, i was just a little disappointed by this Spidey. :( his jumps are also too floaty too. that was Guy's and Dhalsim's problem in SF. i dont like how Spidey HAS to rely on his webs just to MOVE.i understand he swings around the city & all, but damn. i dont like the web ball either lol >.>. *sigh*ok...i'm done crying lmao xP i'll see how i like him in umvc3

When you actually shut up and listen to Seth, he makes valid points, and their right when they say that Fighting games decline because of the casuals. They do need to make an easy fun curve for the casuals and a more expert level for the serious players.

For the love of god, stop saying Wright or anyone for that matter, stole Megaman's Spot, Wright was 2nd place with Strider in 3rd, they were technically having reserves to make it. Megaman didnt have "His Spot Stolen", he just didnt freakin make it for Capcom reasons.
I have no problem for you guys wanting megaman, i want him too but dont blame the other characters for it.

Yeah, I love street fighter and capcom vs god knows what, but capcom's made more fighters than just that. It would be nice to see darkstalkers and rival schools again. Hell, marvel and street fighter couldn't exist as they are without darkstalkers.

As far as games that revolutionized the genre, it's street fighter 1 and 2, then the darkstalkers games.

You being someone who is new to the genre probably don't know this, but fighting games being hard and inaccesible was exactly the reason why we went 8+ years in the dark ages.

Let fighting games be accessible to casual players, but rewarding to high level players. Then everyone is happy and we don't have to go another decade without quality fighting games being released.

@8 completely agree, I liked playing Spider-Man casually in all his appearances. But in MvC3, his web swing is so hard to pull off in the middle of combos (for no apparent reason, web throw is HCB, not QCB), which is immensely annoying because of how important the move is. It's basically making an already technical character so difficult no one even wants to pick him up.

@10 maybe because anti-MM trolls are so abundant, they bring absolutely nothing new to discussions, on top of instigating useless fights like these? The fact that you're defending him with grammar is sad.

@27 I see where you're coming from, but the truth is most people aren't like that. I also like games that reward practice and actually show it, but at the same time, most people are too lazy or afraid to commit because it takes so long to get good.

"i can't stand this "fighting game are too hard talk","

Um.. maybe you've forgotten what it's like to try the quarter circle, dragon punch, half circle, double qtr circle and full circle motions for the first time.

Why should people be forced to practice for HOURS to be fast enough and self controlled enough for EACH of those? If someone tries and fails a few times and gives up, that's bad on them. If someone has to try and fail for hours for each game command, that's understandably off putting.

The one and only reason some people put up with it is because they have a hard core attitude and are motivated before they play to learn. Want to try selling it to someone who isn't? And insult them when they fail? That's YOUR bad. And it's people like that who alienate a lot of new people from playing.

Out of all the characters in the Marvel universe, and all the fan request characters we got Nova? Why? He is the most unoriginal, boring and generic character ever!!!! Even his one special move is just a copy of Storms standing H. When Nova is hitting you on the ground he yells out, " YOU LIKE THAT?!" He's so unoriginal that he has to take Spidermans quotes. I'm not even going to mention the hyper moves because we already know who has them already.. I'm surprised most of the fans aren't disappointed with this character since he doesn't bring anything new to the table.
