Sumoslamman continues his character primers by introducing us to Nova today. If you're not familiar with Nova and the character this article will be of interest to you as you get to read about his backstory and his capabilities.
What do you guys know about Nova? Nothing? Unless you love the New Warriors or the cosmic Marvel shenanigans, chances are you haven’t seen this guy cannonballing into the bad guys’ faces. Luckily I’ve got the lowdown on this garishly clad cosmonaut so sit back, relax, and enjoy the read.
Firstly, Nova is actually Richard Rider, an all ’round average American teen. In a story that eerily resembles Hal Jordan’s origins, Rider discovers Rhomann Dey, a dying alien and the last centurion of the Nova Corps of Xandar. Dey bequeaths the youngster with all the powers of the Nova Prime (flight, strength, energy blasts, etc.) and Rider starts beating the crap out of the thugs in New York City.

BAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHA!!!!!!
Whats with the majority of Marvel guys comin from New York? XD
It's kinda funny; as a result of the latest storyline, Nova is imprisoned in an alternate universe to keep Thanos (the big blue guy from Marvel 2) there.
@9 New York has always been a favorite stage for story in the comic books because it had everything a hero needed to be interesting. A large city, high crime rate, hard times, big corporations, and conspiracy theory. It's always been an example of the American way of life in the comics golden age. So by nature many heroes come from New York.
@9 Read the first series of "Runaways". It explains why there are no Heroes/Villains in the west coast.
Out of all the characters in the Marvel universe, and all the fan request characters we got Nova? Why? He is the most unoriginal, boring and generic character ever!!!! Even his one special move is just a copy of Storms standing H. When Nova is hitting you on the ground he yells out, " YOU LIKE THAT?!" He's so unoriginal that he has to take Spidermans quotes. I'm not even going to mention the hyper moves because we already know who has them already.. I'm surprised most of the fans aren't disappointed with this character since he doesn't bring anything new to the table.
@#16
Well ultimately it's probably a choice from the pool of what Marvel authorize . He's currently popular and a huge character in the Marvel cosmic side .
Finally everyone's favorite will always be called crappy by at least one person , so i'm just gonna disregard your opinion , like most Nova fans .
Either way he was a requested character
what's up with the whole story being a link???
