Capcom's Christian Svensson dished a little infot on some Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 details recently on the Unity Boards. Subjects covered include mashable hypers, where you get more damage from repeatedly tapping the attack buttons, when Rocket Raccoon and Frank West may be revealed, and a few other subjects.Could you please take mashable hypers out of Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3? — ACBreaker
Svensson: It's in because it was requested by so many people in the first [place]. There are no plans to remove it.
So Sven... Any chance of getting Rocket Raccoon and Frank from NYCC too? Since this is the last event before launch and all :P — Chaos_GuyXL83
Svensson: Who says it's the last event? [Editor's note: The London MCM Expo takes place on October 28 - 30, and it's possible Sven is referring to this event here. This is speculation, though.]
Now that we know that parrying is possible in UMvC3, could you give Dante a parry in normal modes? — RBpills
Dante is already like one of the best characters in MvC3 and will be high up there in UMvC3, no ones need a parry in normal battles. — Ryu334
Svensson: Indeed, Dante doesn't need any more tools.
Did Marvel keep Spider-Man villains off the table in MvC3/UMvC3? — 2n2
Svensson: There were limitations around Spider-Man characters due to the new movie (which is completely understandable).
I read about the gem system in SFxT and it sounds like a blast! Please consider putting a gem system into Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3. I mean, haven't you heard about the Infinity Gems? — Breathfires
Easy: Two games. Different universe. Different developers. There. — Uncle Ruckus
Svensson: Yep. That. And what fun would it be if every game used the exact same systems?
Big thanks to Nyoro for contributing to this story.
Keep the Ffffing Gems out of UMVC3 You cock boy! don't ask about such evil.
I really hope the damage isn't as hard to maximize as Haggar's hyper. You have to press that thing like lightning to get the 'level 3' version.
Oh Cool! Capcom listens to the fans! Maybe if I request a well known fan favorite Capcom character, they'll put them in the game!
Or maybe instead they'll troll me with other characters from those games, and references to his stages, or references to his outfit, ha, how about references to his absence in the game!
FREAKIN LOVE CAPCOM!
At least we got a reason why Spider-man's all by his lonesome. Thank you Svensson! I hope I'm right about this but @everyone: If you are concerned with the damage output I'm sure you can lessen the damage scaling like in the first one.
PassionCle Please stop people don't want it to be a core-mechanic, and its not in MVC its a seperate mode....anyway though where was I when people was making all these damn request? I mean I mash in MVC3 just out of habbit but I seen nothing about fans asking for this 0_o all i seen was "Give us X" or "Give us Wright" I want to request something dammit!
wat idiot would want mashing in the game? -_- wouldn't u rather just get uniform damage instead of having to damage your control faster or tire out your hands? dumbasses. if they were gonna listen to fans, they couldve @ least gave us something more relevant, like idk one of those 8 ADDITIONAL CHARACTERS U WERE PLANNING. o well, my top 3 favs got in, so im good
Regarding the Spider-Man villains thing, maybe they should have added the Lizard mostly due to the new Spider-Man movie coming.
@13 psshhhh give me Megaman.EXE and im happy as can be. cant wait to play with wright and vergil!
i've been on SRK and eventhubs, and not for once did I see that many people requesting for mashable hypers. I really don't know where these Capcom employees get their demographic from.
Mashing could have been interesting for some hypers, but it seems like they picked boring ones to implement it.
it would have been nice for example, instead of Nova's beam hyper always taking away your red life, instead you could power it up by mashing, which would drain your red life when as you mashed. It certainly would make the hyper more interesting to use.
Mashing a hyper for no other reason than for its own sake is dumb and boring.
"Svensson: Yep. That. And what fun would it be if every game used the exact same systems?"
So, the one asking for Gems in UMvC3, he obviously doesn't know about Heroes and Heralds, because that's the crazy custom mode he's asking for.
Except, y'know, Heroes and Heralds isn't a vital part of the game and should be a separate mode (for all intents and purposes) to be "What if" fun, unlike Gems.
Could Dante have a parry? As if Dante didn't already have every advantage in the world. C'mon now. Let's get some real questions.
And asking for the gems to be in UMvC3 is just evil.
Raise your hand if you requested mashable hypers in UMvC3!
Its okay, I'll wait.
Fighting games are becoming to casual.... Thank god for KOFXIII, a game that actually takes skill. Unlike, hmmmmmm idk.... SFXT OR UMVC3!!!!
I don't get it how's the Spiderman Movie effecting Spiderman characters not to be in the game. The movie is clear out there in July. That part just doesn't make sense there unless the third version is coming out sometime after the movie or at San Diego Comic Con.
To everyone who requested mashable hypers.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6tyJNL...
What exactly is 'noob friendly' about them?
It's not like if you mash these hypers, they will magically connect. They essentially made select hypers more powerful.
You still need to connect with them.If you think this adds to 'noob' factor or makest he game worse somehow, I think you need to re-evalute how you play the freaking game.
You should not lose to noobs under any circumstances, unless you are one yourself.
Unless you have oh so sensitive fingers and wrists or something, in which case I still do not really care.
@38 it's not really about doing *WELL,* more about the fact that it DOES indeed take more skill; #35's right about MvC3, but I haven't played SFxT yet, so I can't say.
@43, most people dislike having to attack their control/joystick just for that little bit of extra damage. Unless you're playing a mash-specific character (Chun/Dante) it can be a pain.
Note: I'm not complaining, I actually like the fact that Doom's photon arrays can do some worth-while damage now.
Do you guys need some water? Because there is just salt all the frickin' time around here...
So far mashable hypers is my only gripe with this game. It's such an archaic and stupid mechanic, I always hated that from the old vs games. Other than tire your fingers and worn your controller out faster it doesn't really accomplish anything.
Seriously, who in their right mind would request such an inane "feature"? SMH
Ahh ye old mashing, you did always give newbs the sense that they are improving there game when in fact its just a pointless mechanic with no skill involved.
Noob: "I bet I can get my mash hyper faster than you can."
Me: "Oh my god, just shut up."
Noob: "derp derp"
If you don't like mashable Hypers, I'm sure Capcom can give you an 'Auto Mash gem' to help you out lol.
Serioisly though, Keep that Gem BS out of Marvel.
Lol @ These questions.
And why the hell would fans want to mash during supers, you or those people are crazy as hell. I play MVC3 to chill a lot (Since its not rly a game to take srs due to all its BS imo) I dont break my controller everytime I do a super.
YAY! :D
The guy asking about Dante getting a parry makes a LITTLE sense due to Dante's Royalguard ability, though it only absorbs blows and released said absorbed blows as a counter-attack...
@ #65
Exactly. I was reading through the comments looking for someone else who knew about Dante's Royalguard style from DMC3 and DMC4. That was one of his most powerful techniques, so I could understand why the guy asked for it. But yeah, that wouldn't be too fair.
#41 shut up, u prick. idgaf what u say, the game couldve done without it. Vanilla did. only a tard would want it in.
The only thing that should've been added regarding mashing is the ability to mash OUT of combos..
why is everyone mad or hating about the mashable hypers? its not that big of a deal really. what you guys need to be mad at is the lack of intelligent questions asked. first of all, f**k gems, idc what any1 says that ish is stupid, what happened when the games required not skill, not items, for that i'll smash bros brawl. and secondly why would this idiot ask for more dante moves. why cant capcom take "requests" from the real smart fans not these retards who want gems.
@73 I think that he may be referring to a tech button. When I first play mvc3, I was in to bb so when I was caught in a combo rather than holding back to block if it was dropped I would mash one button so just in case the combo was dropped I would tech out of it but, when you do that in mvc3 you pay for it cause you'll end up attacking lol. However I prefer the way mvc handles teching, I'm actually not a fan of having a tech button now.
This whole mashing hyper thing to me, doesn't seem like a big deal, it's only hypers and you put those at the end of your combos anyways, plus the bit of cinematics before the hyper do give you time to prepare for it... idk, imo I think everyone's just over-reacting a bit. I mean it's unnecessary but it really doesn't change the way we will play the game overall.
I loved mashable hypers in the old versus games. I'm glad they're returning in UMvC3
@ #38
That's why he named a specific KOF which was the number XIII. MK wasn't doing so well either but mk9 is or was doing alright. Heard most of the player base is dying for it though which is sad. Most of them were sucky casuals anyway and not the normal suck I mean they were terribad like only knowing 1 bnb combo that works.
#39 No, it just that mashing hypers has been in MvC2 and I'm used to doing that. What's the big deal? EVERYBODY can do it. So you mash it out to get a little more damage, how does that make you bad at the game? Just buy UMvC3 and try it out. If the mashing hypers becomes THAT much of a problem for you, then by all means, return the game to Gamestop and get your 20 bucks. I'm tired of argueing.
#78 is that your only argument...."it was in older games" hmmm a small minority ask for it and bam its in but when a larger audience of ppl ask for real things to improve the game they ignore the crap out of it.
#79 Oh please. That's the only argument I need. If you have you have a problem with it, you can suck my ass. Stop thinking it's gonna be broken. It's in the game, get over it.
#80 "Stop thinking it's gonna be broken"
Lol how u just assume that I think its broken its not, apparently you put yourself in the D-bag category.
You probably cant even give a logical benefit for mashable hypers. Instead of taking the time to give I dunno Thor some changes here and there.
#81 Why else would you be complaining about it? No offense, but if you think it's gonna give new players that much of an edge to beat veterans, then you must not know what you're talking about.
Players dealt with mashing it MvC2 for 10 years, with top players even wearing gloves in order to mash out the supers to get the most damage. I think you're gonna be fine.
A lot of people are forgetting there is a downside to mashable hypers and that you suffer damage deterioration for added hits, so your next follow up is gonna do like less damage than normal. This is important because if the follow up hyper does more damage than the previous one it may do less damage and while you will get more damage over all you may need he last hyper to do the most. Mashing hypers is good for finishing off opponents your not sure may K.O. at the end as well.
Remember there is no DHC glitches so your gonna have to earn your damage, every bit.
I should also note that Mashable Hypers exist in Vanilla, some charactes like Modok's Battering Ram Hyper has to be mashed to get the full hits if im not mistaken. I think the same for Killer Illumination but it's just harder.
#84 Oh, and Haggar's Rapid Fire Fist.
Hmm. So there's strategy in when and where you should be mashing the hypers in your combo. Interesting.
Thnak you Shonuff.
@TheCreator and DunnDeal: #$%^ off. Tourneyfags like you need to stop acting like your superior to the rest of the human race before I @#%^ing lynch you.
@Ninjanuity Yeah sure. I've had plenty of people say ignorant stuff and then say they were trolling as some magical excuse to look smart.
To be honest, I can't tell a real troll from a fake one anymore.
Don't know who was crying for mashable hypers.
Meh, it only matters in combo enders anyway since hit stun would get rocked if you mashed everything.
