Now while I am amazed at the two new characters, I noticed an AWESOME Easter egg in the background of one of the stages. Watch the Phoenix Wright video and stop at about the 30 second mark. There is a large wanted poster with the characters of Marvel vs. Capcom 2 that didn't make it into this game like Ruby Heart, Cable, Cyclops, etc...Some of them have the word "Slain" across their picture while others say "Apprehended." I don't know if that will play any larger role than a easter egg, but I still think it's awesome.

Yeah, a lot of people saying Nova looks boring...but he has several OTG moves including one that is full screen he can combo into. Honestly that right there means he will be a solid anchor, and assuming he has a beam assist and/or a OTG assist... what more do you want?

Anyone who wants to see another Megaman troll by Capcom, pause the Phoenix Wright video at 0:33 and look at the poster in the background.

That poster is from a famous X-men cover where all the mutants have Dead or Captured written across their portraits. Notice how Megaman is the only one who's still at large :P

Notice that in Nova's trailer, in the level with the Sentinel in the background that looks like a cave, there are wanted posters of other characters from Marvel and Capcom. Each Poster says something like "apprehended" or "slain". Mega Man's wanted poster is the only one that doesn't have anything written on it.

@28 They already have a ton of Avengers in the game. They put Rocket Raccoon and Nova in because Marvel wants to promote their Marvel U comics.

If you look at the poster carefully there are several characters that haven't been "Slain" or "Apprehended". The bottom row is hidden (I assume unannounced DLC) and Mega Man is obviously unmarked and out in the open. Think that might be Capcom's way of saying he is still out there to be in the game and that is pretty obvious, the rest not so much.

That or it is one of the greatest Trolls of all time.

Both of these characters look extremely interesting. I'm trying to figure out how Phoenix Wright's attacks were hitting people. Looked like he was barely doing anything. Lol.

And it looks like Capcom has so much in store for everyone. Talk about trolling.....and potentially coming up with more ways to take people's money. I'm definitely getting this game, but I can only wonder what else they have up their sleeve.

Nova has no Level 3, it seems. I guess with all his OTG potential, he doesn't need one? Who knows..

@55 Dan was a complete joke character when he first premiered in Alpha, no redeeming qualities except for trolling. Nowadays he's more than capable, just with a stigma of being a joke character (he'll be S-tier in AE2012 with the buffs, mark my words!)

Likewise, I wouldn't be so quick to label Phoenix as a waste. With the re-emphasis on zoning in Ultimate, he seems to have a number of good zoning specials, good supers, and viable normals, and that's just without knowing details.

Don't mistake a "silly/cheesy" character for a "joke" character. Separate categories.

Nova looks boring but useful ALA She-Hulk. Still wondering why they went up with Nova/RR... Thanos, Gamora, Star-Lord; pretty much any other cosmic character is better IMO.

So, some more P.Wright observations

-He has stances. I think the best comparison is probably Silver Samurai in MvC2. At a cursory glance, it would seem he has a stance for (1)finding clues/evidence, (2)presenting evidence, and then (3)accusation stance.

-He has a *ton* of moves. It looks like each possible piece of evidence has unique properties in each stance. Some are capable of being used as projectiles, some as boosts/powerups, and they appear to have individual timers.

Ok unless RR does like 4 million damage in one combo Wright looks like he does a ridiculous amount of damage including when he has all his buffs. He does 25% on Thor when he's buffed without x-factor and 25% on Doom with a standard normal, special, l, m, h, special. HOMYGOD!

Those two are freakin' awesome! Although I was hoping Nova would be more projectile based like Iron Man, but he looks good regardless. Reminds me of Iron Fist a little. His Hypers kind of looks like its a mish-mash of moves from other characters like S. Skrull and Wesker/Spider-Man.

Phoenix Wright looks pretty fun as well. Kind of like Doronjo or Frank West in some aspects where they call other people in to attack.

So far so good.

If you stop motion at the right time on that nova video with the poster, the bottom row that's partially obscured has two characters that are captured or dead, and two that are unmarked like Megaman. One of those two that are unmarked looks like Shuma, and the other may be Jill, meaning...

@59: Jin was slain in his actual ending in MVC 1. It was one of the only ones I can actually remember because Shadow Charlie and Shadow Chun-Li rebuilt him to be awesome.

@66: There were still plenty of other characters that didn't even make it onto this poster, including all the Street Fighters, Sabretooth, Venom, Thanos, Omega Red, Anakaris, Spiral, Blackheart and Silver Samurai.

Venom would have to be the most requested to return of all these for the Marvel side (or more likely, someone new) and Mega Man hopefully got an upgrade from Light and will return as X (If so, I'm keeping my fingers crossed that he has a Storm Tornado attack). I'd buy it.

@82 OOOO! Good point! I never noticed that. It looks like his evidence finding is instantaneous though so it shouldn't be much of an issue. Wonder if he can be switched out and keep his buffs. If his assists are great then he looks like a top 10 character for sure.

Actually, since Capcom said he'd fight without actually fighting, I always thought of Norimaro. Which I'm totally cool with because joke characters are awesome and would fit nicely on my teams of bad asses. =D

Another thing, I know it's probably different, but the evidence he collects seems to be random... Unless there's a specific button for a specific piece, which is kinda like Hsien-Ko..

ANOTHER THING.. Notice how he presented evidence to Doom before the verdict was given? Would evidence affect the damage/usage of his lvl 3? ._.

I feel there will be a whole lott of @ whatever number I am but this is my opinon.

1. Phoniex Wright is weird he kid of reminds me of a biger version of SERVE BOT for some odd reason. But I will want to use him because he is kind of cool. I had a feeling Phoniex and She hulk would say something to each other, I hope he says stuff to deadpool.

2. Nova, to me he is super skrull + Ironman I mean look at the intro of how he comes in. Nova seems cool he looks like a great fighter and has beam attacks

So Pheonix need to use a special move to get evidence which include stuff life paper, knives, scrolls and even meat that he can eat to life up.

He can also change from Magnifying Glass (to find evidence) to Lawyer's Badge which he can do the 'Objection' and change it to the Mighty Finger.

I totally agree, any character would of been more interesting than Phoenix Wright, he just feels out of place and awkward. As a regular human he takes a lot of damage which is a bit too cheap. He should of been in TvC he fits that concept much better. Frank West is better than PW

It looks like they can be thrown and it seems once you have all three slots filled you use an objection, you glow orange afterwards. That seems to make PW faster (maybe he does more dmg too?, couldn't tell)

I'm guessing the only time he can do objections is when he has all three slots filled, and I'm sure his level 3 might have something to do with it also. It's a pretty interesting mechanic either way, Capcom will probably release details on it eventually.

The attention to detail for PW is pretty damn great, from the sound effects, animations music changes...yeah lot's of love went into making him.

To be honest only doctor strange looks really interesting to me. It seems everyone else being brought in are brawlers (and whatever p wright is considered)
Hawkeye seemed fun but max's assist me showed that he isn't as WOW A MILLION ARROW ATTACKS as I assumed he was before.

Nova and iron fist look WAY too similar for my liking, their fightstyles are like ryu and akuma because they are so similar.
Phoenix wright looks like a major disappointment in my eyes, if you're going to make a gimmicky non fighting character that references the characters original series atleast do it right. Just because he isn't a fighter doesn't mean ABC and Special can't be punches and kicks. I mean, slapping a paper and sneezing is cool and all but not for normals. It's like norimaru all over again.

I have to honest here. I'm not was not looking forward to Phoenix Wright but wow. I think he is my favourite character in the game next to She-Hulk. I love his move set and lvl 3. Never followed the Phoenix Wright games but I'm glad he's in the game.

I'm hoping the apprehended characters on the poster are DLC along with Megaman. If so, Capcom have my money.

Don't know if it was said yet since I'm not reading 200 comments.

So, Phoenix Wright pretty much gathers evidence on the enemy player by catching projectiles with the girl and whatever else he did, I can't tell, and once he has all three pieces and can power up by yelling "objection" which lasts quite a while and overall leads into his level 3. That's pretty awesome.

I'm REALLY liking what I'm seeing with Nova so far. He looks like he got great aerial mobility. Air dash, flight mode, AND attacks that bring him around and can cross-up (not sure if they're safe, though). If that OTG dash strike is also an assist that hits low, imma be making some unblockables with Chun-Li :)

He might need some projectile assists to get in and get to work, though. Which works fine since I'm using Hawkeye, too. :P

Ok, here is my view on the bar for Phoenix Wright's. Whenever he is crouching and picking up stuff he is collecting evidence. Well, in order to win a case, you must have key pieces to the case. So, in order to complete his Level 3, you gotta have the key pieces, such as a murder weapon (the knife), A motive (the roses, refering to a case such as a jelious boyfriend) and then a witness (the folder, stating a written witness to the crime.) He has to collect these things in order to perform the level 3, or maybe its just the more evidence you have, the stronger his level three is.

If you want to be true to yourselves, Marvel side would demolish Capcom side. They had to nerf Marvel characters and buff up Capcom characters in ultimate so they could compete.

Just in vanilla only:
Sentinel, Wolverine, Jean, Magneto, Doom, Storm, She-Hulk, Dormammu, they pretty much rape Capcom side themselves.

I am gonna take an in depth crack at the awesome character that is Nick aka Phoenix Wright. Take what you read lightly because this is only based on these videos but this is how I currently see him.

The girl, Maya looks as though she can create a barrier similar to Modok's however it looks as though it can be pushed back by certain attacks. She also comes to Nick's aid in the form of a hyper... A very goofy hyper none the less with the sounds but w/e. NOTE that this hyper continues as Nick recovers from it before it is done. She also is used for Nicks OTG where she will run in and pick up the opponent off the ground by sliding, however I am not sure if Nick can combo off of this without an assist.

The "Judge" hyper is not shown too much... Im guessing it will be able to OTG but don't quote me on that because it is never shown. I am also wondering if you will even be able to DHC it because it smacks both players.

Notice some evidence look to be food. Not sure if there is more then one food but one is definitely being shown healing him although it only heals his red health and I am not sure what percent is actually restored.

Nick is a stance character. 3 different stances to be exact; magnifying glass, his attorney badge and OBJECTION!.

The magnifying glass allows him to look for evidence and also toss evidence he does not want. The evidence will all probably deal set amounts of damage depending on what item it is. I can't make out each piece of evidence but from what I see he can find food, a flower, a watch, documents, a photo or letter?, a knife, a cell phone, a bottle and something else I can not make out.

The attorney badge allows him to present the evidence, it may also allow him to throw papers out similar to Ammy but with a bigger range. Evidence presented shoot beams that shoot out in different angles depending on what item is being presented. "Judge" hyper if done in attorney stance puts him back in magnifying glass stance.

Objection! seems as though it can only be used if you have 3 pieces of evidence and you must be in attorney stance. OBJECTION! stance has a time limit (looks to be about 25 seconds or more duration currently). OBJECTION! allows him to point out huge arms which look like they cause a crap ton of stun and one also ground bounces. While in OBJECTION! stance the judge does not put you back in attorney stance if used but you still however get knocked down. OBJECTION! stance also allows Nick to use his lv 3. Also it is not really shown in the videos but once OBJECTION! stance runs out he loses all evidence and goes back to magnifying glass stance. OBJECTION! is also cool because it plays the best theme in the series while he is in the stance even if an opposing player loses a character.

SOME GREY SPOTS...

1) Nick appears to have another projectile where he sends Missile, a dog to attack you. It isn't shown too much but it is also shown as an assist in the video where he is teamed with Haggar.
2) Nick slips on a banana in the last video while fighting taskmaster... I don't know what that is about but I hope it is not like Super Smash Brother Brawl where you occasionally fall. I'm hoping it is an attack but I doubt it.

Can anyone dexcribe novas similarities to other characters in MVC3? I think he's a mix of Skrull and X-23 with flight. I'm liking Nova, Iron fist and Spencer for my team. I can mix and match with Cap Am, Skrull, and Wesker Trish as these guys/gal are also my favs now that Cap Am has an OTG I think he can be a great asset for any team.
will try out Ghost rider and Dr/ Strange too and fiddling around with Arthur as well - such and interesting character IMO.

I want to play spidey but some of his combos are tough for me to do with his reverse DP for his web swing.

I only wih there was a vouple more gal characters in the new roster.

I will definitely give him a try as he does look unique but he does look out of place IMO. I will try all the 'new' characters and see which one's I will continue to integrate in my teams. Most likely will continue with Iron fist Ghost rider and Nova from what i've seen but who knows.

Spencer will always be on any of my teams as he is my favorite.

And I think, more than balancing, this game needs GOOD assists so it's not Sentinel and Tron all day long.

So this may be a pointless note, but a note nonetheless. Niitsuma said that the original plan was to have 58 characters in the game. Now, if you take a look at the Days of Future Past poster, this is what you will see:

List of Apprehended Characters –
Colossus
Ruby Heart
Gambit
Hayato
Psylocke
BB Hood
Unknown?

List of Slain Characters –
Cyclops
Marrow
Ice Man
Jin Saotome
Cable
Amingo
Captain Commando

The list of apprehended characters adds up to 7, plus megaman being at large, brings the total of non dead characters to 8. omgzzzzzs.
The one thing that kind of drives me away from this theory are the actual characters apprehended, i doubt theyd rehash a bunch of mvc2 characters but hey, hopes is hopes, hypes is hypes. I think that as far as mvc2 characters go, those all fit the best with the game. Who knows, we will see.

Agree with "Capcom is Trolling." Cuz when you think about it. The stage that the poster is on is the Days of Future Past, where many Marvel (and apparently Capcom) characters were killed/captured. Well I am just enjoying the conflict throughout this whole thing.... Why do people care so much who is in and out now... This was meant to happen and nothing can be said or done to change it. People hate Phoenix Wright about as much as they hated She-Hulk when she was first announced. Now look where she is. She has become more accepted than she was before. Just give him an official chance, regardless of his video game history. As for the cats... By the looks of it... No argument in the world would have stopped them from making the roster. They are just add ons and the roster has been finalized long ago. We are just slowly getting the reveals little by little just so we can keep interest in their game. Now if for some reason the Vita version of SFXT gets two fighters less in place of the cats then I respectfully apologize but as for right now, the cats are not a waste of a character slot since they are add ons and nothing more. And since sony paid to have them included, I guess their money speaks louder than any of our words.

@268 The whole "slain" part is part of the reference to the X-Men cover that poster is a parody of. I honestly doubt those characters are "dead" just deconfirmed. Same with the "apprehended" characters.

As much as I'd like Sonson and Jin for DLC, I doubt we're going to get them anyways, B.B. Hood would piss off the Jon Talbain and Jedah supporters, (We also have Chris and supposedly Rocket Raccoon for our gun toters) Capcom said they didn't want any of MvC2's original characters so Ruby Heart and Amingo are out, (plus I'd rather those two appear in a Darkstalkers game instead) Hayato, Colossus & Marrow weren't really characters I saw people play as that much to begin with, if I have to mention what the problem with Cyclops is for the 50 billionth time, I'm gonna set something one fire and whether you fanboys like it or not, Gambit is not the A-Lister X-Men character you keep thinking he is. In fact, I don't think Marvel themselves know what to do with him because most appearances I see of him are just as a prop in the background.

I'd mention Cable and Iceman are too cheap to deserve a comeback but that didn't stop the three god tiers from returning.

Really the two that baffle me the most on that poster are Mega Man and Psylocke. Mega Man's lack of sticker makes me think they're hinting at something but Psylocke has an apprehended label? Okay Marvel better have a good excuse to say no about Psylocke because I think her being in Uncanny X-Force would be good enough to use her as PR for that series. (Not that it needed it mind you)

Phoenix Wright is... I don't even know how to describe it. I get the idea of trying to make him look like he's not really fighting... but honestly it makes him look aesthetically awful.

His launcher is him sneezing? He just goes from one pose to another with no animation and the hitboxes all extend far past the actual animation.

Not really impressed by him.

Does it really matter how he fights? He has a lot of options and he's one of those characters that is very strategic in a way, collecting evidence to get stronger in his case, he's good the more you see and seth showed a lot on the stream of his gameplay mechanics earlier. Screw the haters who talk crap about Phoenix Wright. I'm going to main him and really try and beat noobs who think he is trash. Then we will see nothing but the truth!

I just noticed something. Every time Nova does his beam super (Gravametric Blaster), he loses all his red life. I'm guessing that that super gets more powerful the more red life you have. Interesting. Deep strategy can be put into it. Should I keep my red life to keep me alive longer, or use it all up to kill the opponent's anchor? I just hope he isn't a glass cannon.

It's kinda weird that a character that has a beam hyper doesn't have a regular beam, at least from what I'm seeing. I thought he was gonna be a better version of Iron Man for a sec. :(

@314 318 s.kill already talked about that on the stream and interview. Hours ago. The super does more damage the more red health you have. It has three levels and it is a way to compensate for not having a lvl 3 super.

Nova and Green lantern are the same in the same sense that Iron man and Batman are the same. Iron man and Batman are both rich and that is there super power resource. Besides money and personality they are different. Yes Nova was part of a galaxy police type force like Lantern and they both can fly, but that is where it stops. Lantern uses a ring that can make anything and he uses that to defeat foes. His weakness is the color yellow... Nova doesn't use a ring and he doesn't make objects out of his powers. He is more like the Human Torch but stronger.

It's cool. I was just confused and was looking around and to why all the newcomers got a Lv. 3 except him. I was looking to see if his supers stole hyper meter or anything special, especially Maximum Nova, which to me, I think should do at least a bit more damage.

I needed a good Meter-user on my new team for this game, and Nova seems to fit the bill. Then again, if RR gets some kind of Hyper Viper Beam super, I'll have to reconsider. XD

@310 U lost all credibility once U opened Ur mouth. Marvel has not used or cared for Gambit in years, he's only useful 4 cameos in X-men 2make Rockslide more powerful and give X-23 someone to talk to. Plus Flash as Venom is kinda lame in his own comic, and since its been decades since Brock was venom I wouldn't want 2C him. Hasn't been a Green Goblin since secret invasion and who really cares 4 Hobgoblin. Carnage and Ms. Marvel would've been good choices thou.

@327 Daredevil is Marvel's Batman, idk Y ppl on here think its Ironman, Bullseye is Marvel's Joker, Green Lantern is mosr easily compared 2 Quasar or Captain Mar-vell, or Phoenix once Hal's turned into the Spectre.

I think the best thing I've seen about Phoenix Wright is that once you go into Objection mode and the cornered theme starts playing, it seems to override whatever other music is playing at the time and won't stop until Phoenix Wright dies.

@322 Na Iron Man more so, both use there wealth to buy gadgets and have that arrogant attitude. Daredevil is blind, but all his other senses are heightened beyond normal. Strip Iron man and Batmans gadgets and wealth and you have a regular. Strip away Daredevils and you still have a hero.

@336 Actually not, DD & Batman R both righteous rich martial artists that lost their parents 2criminals and own a bat-cave, whose main villain is a crazy killer who has an unhealthy obsession wit them (Joker and Bullseye), and constantly hav 2hide their true identities. Bullseye's actually my fav marvel char. Ironman is just a rich genius inventor, unlike Batman who buys all his gadgets and is way more arrogant than Batman who's actually a pretty nice guy.

Iron man and Batman both lost their parents. Both own corporations. Both are rich from their inheritance. Tony Stark lives in a mansion and Bruce Wayne lives in a mansion. Both are womanizers. Both have no power or super senses

Daredevil and batman both hide there identities. Daredevil get his money from being a lawyer. Daredevil has super senses. Bullseye can't compare to Joker no-one can. Joker is another normal being nothing special besides he is a psycho.

--Ironman lost his parents 2 a car accident, while both Batman and DD lost theirs 2 criminals. Ironman became a genius while both Bruce and Matt became martial artist. Ironman is a playboy/womanizer while both Bruce and Matt respect woman and hav many relationships wit them using charm 2win them over(DD gets more woman than Bruce and Ironman actually). Ironman, Batman, & DD got rich from inheritance, but only Tony got the majority of his money from the Gov't funding of the buisness. Neither Ironman nor DD live in Mansions(thou DD has lived in Mansions B4), Tony lives in a tower, DD now lives in his own building 2help keep his identity secret wit his own batcave in it.

DD's enhanced senses only help make up for his lost sight but give him no abilities that make him anything more than human. Both DD and Batman hav secret personalities & do most of their superhero activity at night unlike Tony.

And both Bullseye and Joker are Psycho's, act out for attention and commit crimes 2B noticed, hav unhealthy obsessions wit their enemy's and a very smart and smiley.
-In the Marvel/DC crossover they also showed that Bullseye is a bit crazier than his DC counterpart, meanwhile Batman is stronger than his Marvel counterpart

HOLD IT!!!! As a fan of the Phoenix Wright games I just have to say this about Phoenix's playstyle..... ITS PERFECT!!!! No seriously this is exactly how I though he would fight he would do all of his damage by accident I mean lets face a fighter Phoenix Wright is not. But he is so great in this game and by god I will have alot of fun playing as him. See that's what the game is supposed to be about but so many have lost sight of that and to that I give a big OBJECTION!!!!! Games are meant to be competitive but fun everyone should be having a good time not just one side and that's what MVC3 allows with its simplistic battle system everyone can join in and have fun. When did we lose sight of this guys when did we stop having fun and it had to be all about the wins. Don't stop having fun guys its why games were created in the first place. TAKE THAT!!!!! Um, no. Moon Knight was created to be Marvel's Batman. Practices martial arts, fight in a cape and cowl, comes out at night, uses gadgets. The only difference is, Batman won't kill and Moon Knight will.

You guys are also forgetting Batman's intelligence. That's the main factor to Batman. It's his intelligence that got him to take down Deathstroke, Superman, Darkseid, gods and martians. He even knows how to take down the entire Justice League. It's not just his gadgets. They help, but his intelligence is the key.

@348 No seriously Marvel publicly announced dat DD was their version of Batman, during DD's creation, the crossover, and multiple other times. While I admit MK and Batman have a lot of similarities in appearance they R nothing alike, which is Y Moonknight was originally empowered by the moon god Konshu(or wateva the hell it was named). However MoonKnight and Batman R extremely different personality wise, just lyk Ironman and Batman R extremely different.
-Bullseye is Marvel's Joker
-Aquaman is DC's version of Namor
-Hyperion is Marvel's superman, along wit Gladiator, thou Thor was proven his counterpart in da crossover.
(And truly DC made Supes more lyk Namor than anything)

And as for personalty wise MK and Batman R still nothing alike MK is crazy and acts on impulses and strange orders from his other personas, while Bruce is more lyk a detective, solving the crime B4 deciding 2engage in battle and carry out his own justice. While both R crazy, night warriors with gadgets the difference is quite clear and its still the reason that even thou DD was not only his original counterpart but is still the most likely candidate 4his current counterpart. As they R much more similar(in their heroism, lifestyle, villains, background, and personality than any other)
