Mega Man in poster on new Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 stage

Updated: A screenshot showing that the bottom left person in the poster which was previously obscured by a car is Rogue.

In the background of a new stage shown in the gameplay trailer for Phoenix Wright and Nova for Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3. You can clearly see a poster on the wall with multiple characters from Marvel vs Capcom 2. Everyone except Mega Man has either slain or apprehended over their character portrait.

So Apprehended means Captured and Slain means... well Dead!, so honestly megaman seems to be the only one that has a chance to appear in an update or DLC.

I love that they recreated one of the coolest comic book covers in history for an entire stage and payed tribute to the removed MvC2 characters on top of that. Regarding Mega Man being in Wolverine's place, I honestly just feel like it's a way of saying "He's not dead" to the Mega Man fans, whether that means he's getting in this game or not. It also indicates that he's still Capcom's mascot, which I like.

It's amazing how sad I got when I saw Psylocke on there, though. I really wish she had returned.

Hope it means DLC characters but I suspect it is nothing. Customers/fans will say it is cruel trolling and Capcom will soon say it is only intended to be an Easter egg to fans.

Unfortunately, if you watch the video again and pay close attention, Captain Commando has "Slain" over his picture. But then again, I think we're reading too much into this.

Maybe, just maybe, these are characters considered for future DLC? Capcom loves to troll most of the time, do not forget that.

Maybe it does mean he'll have a shot as DLC, but honestly, you shouldn't have to ask for Megaman of ALL people in a Capcom game. His face is pretty much synonymous with them.

Activision, the company that charges 14.99 per map-pack, yeah i heard of them(who hasnt really). what i'm saying is..........you know what F@*k it.a company gots to do what a company gots to do to make money. we'll see were capcom is going with this game when it's releses to the public .i dont really know what they really attending to do with megaman and the other 7 character that have supposedly been apprehanded, but i smell UVC3 extended version in the works >___>

Apprehended - Can possibly be added on the next version (Arcade Edition anyone? needs fan support, has an upcoming movie or for comic promotion)

well apprehended means taking to custody so theres chances of some characters making it in but pretty much slain means there out but please people I know everybody wants gambit and mega man in but I really want Hayato in. PLEASE PUT Hayato IN UMVC 3 as dlc.

B.B. Hood has only been apprehended, there is still a slim chance she gets in!.......lol who am I kidding they put who thet f*ck they want we have little to no bearing on who is in. PW was being made for TVC and they scrapped him cuz they couldnt figure out what to do in time for release so they saved him for MvC3. Maybe strider got in because of fan demand but for some reason i think they wanted him in to begin with and lied about the fans being why. Just my opinion based on the other 48 characters selected in MVC3, trish who is she??!! i playd al the devil may cry games and she was not memorable enough to add for real and why add Hsien-ko, who i loved in darkstalkers, when you got waaaay sicker characters like talbain jedah raptor q.bee b.b hood sasquatch( who is a generic character for real) just to name a few that would have been much better to implement into the game. My 7 1/2 cents yo.

Just an FYI to everyone, Days of Future Past was an alternate timeline in Marvel in which a lot of X-Men were arrested or killed due to rampant mutant racism.
So, since this stage is based on that alternate timeline, I wouldn't read into the characters that are labeled as slain or apprehended too much. The main focus should be on Mega Man, as he's the only one not labeled with either.

...i personally agree with #44...i see characters who got "apprehended" re-appear...though its a big shame in my opinion that Iceman won't get any chances, he's the only man in the whole MVC roster with ice powers and yet he got no chances...also Marrow will be missed by me, i liked her back in MVC2 whatever everyone would have to say...

Personally I like the reference and I can live with out some characters on the poster (even SonSon). But the slain title marked over some of the characters just feels like a punch to the stomach.

There was a weak argument that Megaman isn't a "fighter" so he doesn't fit well into the game... did I just watch the same Phoenix Wright trailer as everybody else? I'm not a huge MM fan, but if you are going to exclude one of your staple characters from the game, give me a BETTER answer than that. People can rip on MM fans all they want about his exclusion, but he is more of a fit in this game than Phoenix Wright (Even though I am a fan of joke characters, like Dan).

From the reactions I can see that most people like the idea of Phoenix Wright and his "non-fighting" style in a fighting game. As for myself, I think it's a pretty lazy and poor replacement for some of the true characters that could have been viable in this game. Whether it was from the requested DLC poll on the Capcom-Unity site or whether it was an old character revived from MvC2, there were plenty of better options then some lame ass lawyer who doesn't even have any fighting actions. First disappointment I've had so far regarding the new characters, but he just seems like a waste.

I'm sure there will be plenty of people running their Phoenix Wright squads and their 'Teams of Justice', but let's see how many people run him in any tournaments because I'm guessing he will go by the wayside just like Felicia or Morrigan.

For me, it wasn't that Megaman's not a fighter, it's that he was kind of boring to use in MVC2. If they could do something to spice him up beyond pressing H, holding and releasing H, and then mashing on H while using Beat Plane or Rush Drill, then yeah, I'll be happy to see him.

I'd rather see Megaman Volnutt from TvC as DLC. Sort of a "we're sorry" for the MML3 cancellation, heh.

As for Phoenix, maybe I'm just buying into the gimmickyness but he looks incredibly fun to use.

I'm sorry, did you do anything more than Tatsu and Hadoken into Hyper with Ryu/Akuma in MvC2

Alot of MvC2 fighters didn't go well into the game because it was a copy/paste game like MUGEN.

Look at any returning MvC2 character in MvC3, most didn't have combos like Ryu, Tron and Morrigan, but the MvC3 system gave them combos that are fluent in the engine.

If they took ANY MvC2 character and put it into the MvC3 engine, they will have diverse combos, period. Be it Jin, Venom, MegaMan, you name it, they'll have combos, because that's just HOW MvC3 was made.

...But, I hope it's not just a cruel trolling from Capcom's side... not only for Psylocke but for all MvC2 characters that players loved. If so, I'm not gonna support umvc3 when i will write the review. At least, it's what gamers ask and should get...

I just love Psylocke... She is my favorite from the X-MEN. Psylocke, Jean, Emma and Polaris my dream team... OK and Storm :p

This is what I hope: Capcom, knowing the full character list was leaked, decided to keep Mega Man under wraps entirely. After the last character is announced, suddenly the MegaMan 2 theme starts playing... He's not DLC, he's in UMVC3.

Folks like to use "Troll" a little too frequently. Usually it's said if it's something that instantly annoys them or if they don't get what they demand right-that-second.

This is clearly a nod to Future Past. The "slain" characters may also be a a subtle way to reveal what characters we will not see in future expansions of MvC3, and the "apprehended" characters might be possible additions in future updates.

The untold fate of Mega Man (Classic) is a red flag though. Capcom has been truly hesitant to even talk about Mega Man in this game and I think their ambiguous approach on the subject hints to plans of adding him as DLC in 2012.

I won't be heartbroken if I'm wrong but the outcry for ol' Rock has been enormous. I don't think Capcom will ignore it, and with that poster relaying that he is "At Large" I've got a feeling he'll be fashionably late to the party.

Megaman haters never played a single Megaman game in their life or you guys are just oblivious to the fact that Megaman is what brought Capcom to be relevant today.

Strider (my favorite ninja character aside from Guy) is less relevant than Megaman. I think Megaman is dead and as a huge fan, good riddance. Capcom isn't the same company. They treat fan loyalty like a commodity. They steal your wallet, then makes you pay to get your empty wallet back.

Is it just me, or has it been pretty obvious for a while now that they were gonna put Mega Man in? It would be stupid NOT to from a money standpoint. If this game sells 800,000 copies and just 1/10th of the people that bought the game buy Mega Man for $5.00 thats $400,000 in revenue right there. And thats just for one system. The numbers are probably a little skewed but you get the point. The game is gonna get DLC characters, and Mega Man is obviously on the top of that list.
