Ryota Niitsuma and Christian Svensson have been taking to Twitter and the Capcom-Unity forums to answer some questions.
Niitsuma: Finished my work at Capcom America, and am now returning to Japan. Got a lot of details fleshed out for NYCC, so look forward to it!!
Thank for responding! When can we expect the next trailer? — posaydal
Niitsuma: I'm working on the NYCC presentation now.
Can you clear up the rumor of an online pass for Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3? — Shagrath
Christian Svensson: While online passes are increasingly common in our business, to clarify, there is no online pass for UMvC3. Not sure where anyone would have gotten that idea as we've communicated as much to our retail partners.
After the jump you'll see more questions answered and the schedule for New York Comic-Con.
Hello Mr. Niitsuma. Thanks for MvC3. Will Sonson and Juggernaut return later? — PrimalX3
Niitsuma: Hmm. It is difficult…
Today there was an announcement of Zero's alternate colors, but what about his alternate costume? Just a hint will do! — Queza01
Niitsuma: Uh, a hint? Well, I saw a spot of blue... (Laughs)

so hey are they gonna announce new characters at Brazil Game Show??
(yeah, i know its off topic but i just wanna know.)
Thank you based god. Hope there's no online pass for sfxt
I cant wait to see PW and RR, if they're there, if not, I cant wait to see Frank and Nova7
"Today there was an announcement of Zero's alternate colors, but what about his alternate costume? Just a hint will do! —Queza01
Niitsuma: Uh, a hint? Well, I saw a spot of blue... (Laughs)"
Oh god watch the MM fans start talking, it probably WILL be X but then again Nitsuma could be trolling.
Nova, and wright is who I'm guessing. I can't wait to see them in action.
I can't wait for Comic Con. I might go with some students from a class I'm attending. If I were Capcom, I would show the characters before comic con. Everyone knows they are in the game. Why not show it now and get it over with? People are only going there to see gameplay and knowing who the characters are, which really kills the surprise. Besides, everyone is going to comic com to not only see the reveals for umvc3.
The characters will probably be announced way before the umvc3 presentation, because everyone spreads information on the internet these days
Which is awesome. Like I said, the more early, the better. I wished eventhubs had an edit option.
signing/ mega man comic book. Well maybe they will put mega man in there if... the comic book sells well.
I still find it shocking as to why they answer the STUPIDEST questions. Really, any two questions Nitsuma could have answered and he chooses to answer "IS JUGGERNAUT AND SONSON COMING BACK"? Really, what a random ass pair of characters.
Also lol, Zero's alternate is most likely X. Get raped Megaman fans.
"Christian Svensson: I would ask folks to keep in mind, that not every mechanic, design or balance decision will necessary be made with the competitive scene in mind. Sometimes decisions may be made to be fun for non-competitive players."
Well... there you have it. Capcom has to balance out the audience, regardless if they were casual or hardcore. Can't please everybody, you know?
@25 agreed. But remember what happened with Pheonix Wright, fans just kept demanding and behond we have him in UMvC3. Why him over MMX is beyond understanding but like Pheonix Wright, if fans keep at it he will get in one way or another.
People bashing MM fans are just trolls who want attention because they have nothing else to offer the communty but grief.
#25 get a sense of humor. We all have characters we want that didn't get in. So we just give the megaman fans the hard time.
What I don't understand is why capcom would "dumb down" a game for casual fans when its the hardcore fans that help promote and expand a game. Through streams, word of mouth, websites etc... You don't see football, basketball, or soccer changing their rules up so it's easier to play and they still got money coming in.
Casual players are going to play casual players 90% of the time or play arcade mode. So you don't have to balance out casual players they balance out themselves. Give them a chance to grow and learn. Stop babying them.
What Capcom could do is have a settings for hardcore players. Or a option to turn comeback/noob friendly gimmicks off. Still don't understand why its so hard for them to give us the option to turn off Team Ariel combos or x factor lvl 1,2,3 if we want to. Then you wont have to worry about all that extra balancing. Look at Smash Brothers, pros play without items, and casuals play with items most of the time. If Smash Brothers can do it... Wow
If "spot of blue" isn't referring to an X alt costume (which would be retarded), what the heck kind of hint is that supposed to be?
Zero already has a spot of blue (i.e. his crystal), so that means nothing as a hint. That would be the equivalent of saying his costume has two arms.
My respect for Niitsuma has reached an all time low...
Confirmation that Phoenix Wright will not be the Capcom character revealed at NYCC.
"@Ryota_Niitsuma
新妻 良太@CAPCOM
Sorry, can not play in the NYCC RT @SlayerMaiden666 When will we see Phoen... Naruho... that lawyer in UMvC3?"
@15
Wright will be revealed with Rocket Racoon, Nova will be confirmed with Frank.
@31
Thats looks off, as the answer was presented before the question. More legit proof is needed .
@28 That kind of logic would stunt the growth of the FGC, probably stopping it completely leaving it to die. All hardcore players start off as casual players. If you ever expect to expand the hardcore players, you'd have to not only draw in casuals, but allow them to transition to the hardcore scene smoothly.
And this comes from first hand experience. I consider myself a casual fighter cause I'd rather not spend the time youtubing intermediate/advanced techs. I try to play people on a casual level, I completely dominate them. I try to play hardcore people, only to get owned miserably.
Yes, there are things that I could do as a player to step up my own game. But I'm not the type of person to invest that much time learning fighters. What Capcom has been neglecting to do is not only draw in the casuals, but actually help them learn how to play. The entry barrier to even a respectable level is incredibly high in this game, and Capcom has not been addressing that issue very well.
@28 woops somewhat misread your post/forgot half of it while typing mines up. Still though, Capcom needs to cater to casuals more and yes, the game options need to be a lot more flexible.
Sorry about the double post, no edit button...
stop with the casual crap already. Have a normal/simple mode like mvc3 and leave it alone. Shortcuts, retarded big reversal windows,etc end up takeing away from the game in the long run.
(Guys: Yall need to keep a better track of FGNews, but anyway, I'll answer some questions that have been posed:
BGS: Dunno if we're getting anything besides a new TEASER TRAILER at the BGS. That's the only thing that's been confirmed. Zealous internet hopefuls believe Sean, Elena, or Blanka will be revealed, but I'm betting it's just a reveal trailer.
NYCC: Character reveals for NYCC: SFxT, unknown, but I'd assume characters Americans/comic book peeps like(Maybe another 3rd party character?) and UMVC3: Frank West and Nova(If you don't think they're saving the hype/salt-machine PWright for last, you're crazyyy :P)
Obligatory off-color comment: Woah, Capcom designs stuff NOT for hardcore players?)
Features that are casual friendy?!?!?! Stop making newb friendly games Capcom!!!!!!!!!!!!!
@Soultrigger I see what your saying. But can we have some options to turn casual friendly things off for competitive play. Wouldn't that be the best of both worlds?
@30 No-one is kicking them. I don't think anyone would complain for a extra character in the game. Well never-mind people complain about everything here at eventhubs. What I'm saying is we share there pain, but they are like the little brother you have to pick on for being so whiny even if it works. lighten up... we talking about video games.
@41
Lol It's more like the opposite.
They're picking on MM fans because the franchise is on it's last limb right now and they're poking at him until they close the casket while their over-glorified Street Fighter and Resident Evil games enjoy the limelight more than ever now.
It's not just Eventhubs, it's everywhere. So immature.
@32
That's how twitter works. The message from the respondee goes first then an RT then the original statement.
It's legit... check out Nitsuma's twitter.
I think the fighting games do need some newbie casual gameplay mechanics implemented ala simple mode for beginners my 2 sons play MVC3 and use simple mode all day long against each other because the casuals and the new blood is what is making the games get produced we would all love to believe it's because they are pleasing the hardcore fans but reality they want money and the recent fill of new blood in the scenen is good casual or tourney the more they sell the more us hardcore gamers get in return now I agree it should be a selectable optionbut included non the less
@42
blah blah blah blah.
All I ever see you type on this site is nitpicking/complaints/criticisms on other peoples comments (woo I'm a hypocrite).
Anyways, casuals will be casuals. You don't really need to do anything for them because they'll convince themselves into thinking anything they wanna think. I've got friends that think ironman's d+fierce missle is a great projectile to spam. And that's mainly because everybody in that group except for 3 other people, and mI know how to do quarter circles/hyper combos one character at a time. Sure, the all time low of casuals, but I think the example holds even a tiny bit.
#30
Oh know they canceled 2 Mega Man games, dude what ever Capcom cancels lots of game fighters, Adventure games, etc not just Mega Man, ya'll are just butt hurt because it finally happened to you for once.
Pssh " havent Mega Man fans suffered enough " give me a break.
More Gimmicks means more comeback mechanics which means less skill needed to expand the game.
It's fun to lose to an OTP finish but when you really want to see how well you've matured in a fighting game; you set aside RNGs and DEUS EX gimmick to show superiority.
There's nothing in SFxT thus far that's ground-breaking unlike Marvel where things are so jaded and ignorant due to free OTGs, Ridiculous windows, No-tech roll, Aerial Exchange, DHC-glitch, and X-factor.. you can pratcially walk into a "High-level" tournement and place well with the simple use of Go2characters and a push of all buttons.(See Noah)
The requirement for "Skill" drops drastically as this generation of games get's watered down for it's community.
In business, Fighting game genre took a big hit not too long ago and now that they are HOT again, businesses has to do whatever it takes to satisfy Casual(majority buyers) and Hardcore.
Even if it means shredding to pieces what their franchises mean't beforehand to real gamers.
@46
If you're talking about Universe and Legends 3, it's more than that.
They had planned the Powered Up series, possibly the X series getting another remake with X2, a rumored third ZX game, and others that I can't think of at the top of my head atm.
Take the advantage of being in a fighting game fansite to fight this case, sure, because the elitism here will drown out my comment in a matter of a few posts anyway. I'm sure any franchise following will cry foul when they have multiple games lined up and then promptly shut down one by one.
As far as I'm concerned, every new project Capcom has announced has seen store shelves, adventure games, especially fighters, etc, so please tell me the "cut" games as of late.
I think MM fans need to get picked on. The fans whine and bitched so much that they got ridiculously annoying. If you think back on MvC1 and 2, MM wants even that good. Even though MM should have been in the game, they chose Zero. Its like choosing Shadow over Sonic, which isn't a big deal in my opinion. So just shut the F@ck up and enjoy Zero.
80% of MvC2 characters sucked, where have you been?
Ryu, Tron, Morrigan, they all sucked in MvC2, but it's how MvC3 was designed that made them viable in comparison.
"Enjoy Zero". I have no problem using him, and I've accepted MegaMan's absence since vanilla, that's not an issue to me whatsoever.
Again, it's the fact that others choose to spite MM fans is what makes it "fun" to throw MM jokes on every damn UMvC3 topic.
@#49
They haven't cut any thing as of late Fighting games & just became popular again but back before SF4 they killed 2 of them one Due to poor feedback the other a crossover game due to company changes on both Sammy & Capcom
Cancelled Fighters that will never see the light of day

Oh wow, he really answered my question about Zero's alternate!
The gem system is supposed to be for changing the properties of special moves, which sounds more likely geared towards hardcore players than casual. An awful lot of casual players don't really understand frame data or how to use it, so changing the properties of moves sounds a bit outside of their scope. The whole pandora thing though (which so far to me looks pretty pointless) looks exactly like the kinda thing casual players would use, but pros would barely touch. At the moment it just looks like suicide! But I guess time will tell with later builds of the game...
Me personally I used over half the cast in MVC2 you don't always have to use god tiers me and my buddies would have low tier fights more than anything and they are way More fun I don't care hoe crappy in comparison a character is if I like them I play them and that's how all my friends are people refuse to play characters that suck that's on you but if you have any type of imagination you can make these characters fight we would have no assists fights theme fights like cpt. America vs cpt. Comando ryu vs akuma strider vs hayato (sword fight) Sakura vs Felicia (for some reason it was just always a good fight) tiers competitively yes sure but in a sense all fighting is competitive just think outside the box and you will enjoy these games even more
I used more than half the cast, myself, it's about making the characters work and fight, it's not always competitively fighting.
I've always used Morrigan, Felicia, MegaMan, Hayato, Chun-Li, Sakura, etc, and even though they had very limited combos, they were fun to just play.
What gets me is when people say that "*insert non popular character here* shouldn't be in UMvC3 because they sucked in MvC2."
That's not true in any sense, just because they had no tournament time doesn't mean they're bad characters.
MvC2, in itself, was mostly a copy/paste game, so of course not everyone translated well into it.
MvC3 was made so EVERYONE can have combos, so if Ryu/Morrigan/Tron, etc whom had little/no combos in MvC2 can have amazing combos in MvC3, so can Gambit, Venom, hell, even MegaMan.
Hope we see some Phoenix Wright and Rocket Raccoon action.
