Evil Geniuses member Momochi recently spoke with his sponsorship team about the changes to Cody in Super Street Fighter 4 Arcade Edition. He analyzes what effect the various tweaks to this character will and won't have.EG: With the many buffs to Cody’s knife attacks, do you think it will finally be a viable tactic in high level play?
Momochi: The knife buffs are a great addition, but the fact that it still drops when you throw or focus attack the opponent makes it too impractical to use with any consistency.
EG: Do you feel that Bad Spray is as much of a threat as Ryu’s Shoryuken in the wake-up game, since you can now FADC and Super-Cancel it? Do you see yourself using it in any creative ways?
Momochi: I don’t find it very useful at the moment. However, I might find new ways to use it as I spend more time with the game. The mere fact that it’s available is useful in itself as a way to make the opponent cautious.
Also, there's an interview with EG|fLoE covering Devastation 2011, Juicebox and more subjects.

exactly what the cody community thinks about the changes, over at shoryuken.com.
the buffs are shallow except the walkspeed increase and won't influence cody's gameplay nor the matchups/tierlist.
I'm already thinking of Cody's possibilities in AE 2012 and so far what I've come up with and I could be wrong but since Bad Spray can now hit twice it should have alot of more options like:
Bad Spray > FADC > Ultra 1
Bad Spray > Ultra 2
Bad Spray > Super LK, MK, or HK
Bad Spray > EX Bingo > FADC > Ultra 1 or Ultra 2
Bad Spray > EX Bingo > EX Slide > EX C. Upper
and also Bad Spray should be harder now to jump over since it hits twice and with Cody now being able to hold on to the knife when he gets hit should open up more counter pokes
STRATEGY.
I played this cat a while back that had me READ in the 1st 20 seconds of the match.
He used Sagat.
Soon as he got meter, he ANGRY SCAR'D. And all he did was TS and S,HK.
I saw that I was being punked. And changed tactics. I slide and got close, he ran to the other corner, and ANGRY SCAR'D again!
But he NEVER Uppercutted.
I enjoyed raping him. He was a challenge.
But HAVING a loaded gun, and your opponent KNOWING that you do, plus he KNOWS you can shot VERY well?
It's all strategy gents! Plus Momochi figures that he wont get knocked down much anyways!
Bad Spray > EX Bingo > FADC > Ultra 1 or Ultra 2
Bad Spray > EX Bingo > EX Slide > EX C. Upper
=> how can ex bingo combo after bad spray?
=> second combo isn't possible either
and also Bad Spray should be harder now to jump over since it hits twice
=> they didn't change the hitbox... so now, still as free to cross up
and with Cody now being able to hold on to the knife when he gets hit should open up more counter pokes
=>i think you misread something... cody will lose the knife immediatly, no matter if it's a teched throw, a trade with a c.lp or a focus attack. that's the reason the knife is ignored, it's simply not reliable and takes away your command normals. they simply buffed the wrong departement of the knife.
The last one i mistyped I meant Bad Spray > EX Slide > EX C. Upper and if I'm able to Focus Attack > dash forward > throw a rock > and juggle EX Bingo with Cody in AE 2011 then I don't see why I wouldn't be able to EX Bingo after Bad Spray in AE 2012 since it now has more of a juggle state but like I said I could be wrong
@7
well lets see...
I'm 6'3" 290lbs.
I know how to do an "arm-bar".
Don't be scared. I aint under your bed or hiding behind that 4'tall plastic Voltron model in the back of your closet.
Im a GAMER. I speak violence in the gaming world. I also believe in castration of pedophiles, and that "serial-killers" should be airdropped to some uninhabited desert somewhere...
Relax. It's called "wicked-sense-of-humor". Plus I use Dhalsim to "rape" other gamers. So it kinda balances out.
@#11 cos after focus crumble and rock u can juggle EX Bingo > FADC into Ultra 1 or reg. Bingo or HK Ruffian or whatever you like
I can appreciate some of the changes, as a Cody player. I'll have to reintegrate myself back in SFIV when '12 is out though.
ah I have my friendly day....
focus crumble => rock puts the opponent into JP1, ex bingo FADC puts the opponent into JP2, only JP2+ attacks will combo now, which are ex cu tornado hits and some dust hits from u2. u1 will miss, bingo will miss, hk ruffian will miss.
also would it be a waste of meter AND damage due to scaling...
crumble => rocks => followup should only be used in 3 cases...
1. Focus Attack, backdash (if you don't anticipate that your focus will hit/crumble the opponent but it does). lp rocks will "pick up" the crumbling character and enables to followup with most commenly mk ruffian or normal bingo, if charged.
2. crumble, rock, f.mp as reset for mixups, although should only be really used if you stun your opponent with a rather long combo, due to scaling.
3. for the lulz to end an round for the flashy bit.
I tried out Bad Spray and Knife during a loctest and I share his thoughts completely. Please don't let him drop the knife so easily... 2 hits on MP feels really nice btw.
And in the last question, he actually says: 'make more adjustments to his knife as its an unique ability for him. at least i want it not drop during throw or FA. Capcom, take note :D
@#20
He is just being smart and not saying anything stupid that could be proven wrong or ridiculed. He is only addressing the things he knows benefits Cody and being neutral on the things he could understand better when he gets his hands on the game or is more experienced. Its the best approach when it comes to answering questions.
The most interesting part about that interview to me was finding out that Wong is still alive
"The mere fact that it’s available is useful in itself as a way to make the opponent cautious."
I wish more people thought of that aspect with regards to options/moves for other characters...instead of instantly writing them off as useless etc.
