EG|Justin Wong's second column here on EventHubs has been posted. This time around he discusses tactics you can use outside of the training room to improve, including how to not choke in matches and land your combos on a moving target. What is a Training Mode Monster? A Training Mode Monster is someone who has great execution in terms of combos in the Training Room. Most common problems are that majority of the players are Training Mode Monsters which means that in an actual match, their execution goes down by a lot.
Not being able to land your combos against a moving target (Computer/Human opponent) is what a lot of players suffer from.
There are ways to increase your percentage of being able to land your combos against moving targets or in high pressure situations. When I was growing up, I played against the computer every day. Even though the computer isn’t really challenging, it still gives you an opportunity to land combos in many types of situations and not just a non-movable dummy. The computer will stand, crouch, jump, spam an unsafe move and more, but this is beneficial for the player because you will be able to change up the type of combos due to the situation.
In case you missed it the first time around, you can read Justin's first column here.
I like EH a lot, but one of the minor few annoyances I currently have, is that I regret seeing a lot of very useful info, and guides/videos not getting the attention they deserve..
What I mean by this, is that imo EH has grown so much, that it is time some of the info on here could get indexed better..
For example, Jwong's columns should definitely get their own section on this site, and there's plenty of room to place a button underneath the "submit news tip" button, to link to his dedicated section..
They'll just end up on page 2 by the end of this day otherwise, and what's the point in that?
How about a Youtube link page with links to the most known Youtube channels such as YogaFlame24, Lianghubbb's comeback vids, MrPavy's hype series, ShinAkuma's page... you know, people's vids that get linked anyway if there's a new update.
Would need the channel owner's approval, of course.
A solution could also be the use of tags, like, "sfxt" for example.
Could easily navigate the website for sfxt news by clicking that tag, instead of manually browsing through pages of news posts, or having to use the search for it, which does not always give the correct result you are looking for..
It's just getting hard to filter stuff, because let's face it, a lot of the frontpage posts are fairly random, while some of them are extremely useful.
Manually having to search doesn't always yield the result you were hoping to get.. and there's the fact you have to quite accurately memorize contents of the post or its topic.
Just trying to post some positive criticism here, not trying to come off as a whiny rant.
I highly respect Catalyst and his crew for all the hard work, but it sucks seeing good info get moved to page "X" just like any other post containing just another MVC3 combo video.

What I'd like to see is that tutorials will be embedded under the respectively charcter. I've seen this back in vanilla for ryu or someone. It shouldn't be too hard to implement (again) nor does it cost that much extra time and effort.
it doesn't even has to be sorted by anything, just under the character page would be enough.
JWong, thank you for you recent contributions to the community: on Eventhubs, and other websites such as IGN and EG. But I have to ask: when will we see you in a non-major tourney? Like a weakly or bi-weakly local tourney...
Also, THANK YOU for keeping The Power of Gaia alive.
Wong is once again giving good advice. Nothing can prepare you for either doing combos or punishing properly than playing with an element of randomness. Once you do, and get your stuff down in games you will start winning a lot more.
"I have to admit that I play a lot against the cpu. I'd rather play the CPu than some scrubs spamming shoryuken."
#15 you surely havent played Ken on PC Hardest trial
I agree with what he says with using online. i used to lose literally every match no matter what when vanilla came out ( got it 2 months after it came out and got my ps3 :) ) you gotta get a sparring buddy and fight. in terms of losing to a 15k sagat id say its because nobody tells people how to get around it which isn't fair honestly how are you supposed to learn how to be better in a match up if nobody tells you? sure internet is fine but if someone doesn't show it to you and explain what they're doing your still not gonna know how to get out of blocking and turn the pressure on them
.
@lamesite.... how did you do at evo? thought so.... in reality i think keits is having a rough day......
by "out of your league" he means a beginner playing some1 like him or latif. which I agree with.finding a sparring partner on or at least near ur level is absolutely essential to improving steadily as a player.but its also equally essential to discuss and share information with said sparring partner so that ur strats and tactics evolve enough to open up doors to new discoveries.
I think the links are broken?
