MetaCritic has gathered over 50 reviews for Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 to date, and it scored an 82 and 80 out of 100 on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 respectively.I don't take reviews on fighting games from the likes of IGN, Giant Bomb, Gamespot...etc seriously, mashing is not the way to review a fighting game.
Really it comes down to one thing, did you like MvC3 and are you into it enough to pay money for more characters and balance tweaks?
A review score means nothing to me. I think it's laughable it scores less than MvC3 when it's basically the same game with more content and less bull**** Phoenix.
Wasn't it supposed to be DLC but the Japan tsunami screwed things up? Not really much you can do about that.
The gameplay is great, and the changes are for the best, for the most part.
As for the package itself, it's an 8/10, very bare bones. The last game that felt this empty was VF5, even though it still had that "conquest" mode.
Capcom should have released UMvC3 with more modes and, instead of saving it for DLC. Also, they should have added the two DLC characters that you still have to pay for.
@3 I agree reviews for fighters are always wrong in my mind and the heros and heralds mode ain't out yet
They added quite a bit for it be DLC.. imo.
If it were DLC, would it have costed more than a sum total of $40? I would think so..
I like the game.
Do people still not understand that this all would have been more than $40 if the game was all DLC? Capcom did a huge favor in making it a disc.
I thoroughly enjoy this game more than vanilla. I like the new characters, most of them, and the changes that were made to help balance the game out. If I were to place a score, I'd say between 85 - 90.
80/100
Pros:
+The 12 new characters that were added really shake things up, and the diversity really makes people mix and match their teams so it's not a simple update from vanilla.
To me, they gave alot of good things to the new 12, as if they're saying: "Hey, here's 12 new characters. PLEASE USE THEM.", but that's just me.
+Rebalancing the returning characters make it a breath of fresh air, forcing vets to further adapt and put their existing knowledge to the test in a new environment. Buffing low tier while lightly nerfing high tier makes it interesting.
+Colorful main menu and UI: Although it's the exact same format as vanilla, the added pictures in every menu and the character selection screen seems more inviting and more comic-book like. Again, a breath of fresh air.
Cons:
-Too much, too early: 2 releases in the same year is too little of a timeframe for an update to 1 fighting game.
With all the new air that's coming out of this game, I find myself having to step back to square 1 to properly adjust to how much the game/characters have changed.
To be honest, I felt a little discouraged when I was on the character selection screen for 5 minutes. Just staring at it. Not knowing what I should do. It's like I'm crawling again, trying out the new characters while re-learning the old ones. I haven't even done arcade mode or online, I've been in Mission and Training Mode all this time.
I dunno, it's a great game, but It's not a perfect one, especially how it actually came about shortly after it's predecessor.
If it was released sometime next year, it would've been more well received.
I feel like companies who review games should have a panel of at least 3 reviewers. One who's followed the franchise and is a big fan. Another who's into the genre and is a fan of the game's competitors. And lastly someone who is either not into or unfamiliar with the genre (basically a 3rd party/control Point Of View). Granted that it's possible that 1 reviewer is allowed per company in order to cash in on which ever game wants to buy their higher review score, I would understand why my first suggestion would NOT work out AT ALL.
it's definetly better than Vanilla to me it should have been DLC but I can understand why it wasn't (they could have made more money if it was I think)but there's defenitly a difference between Ultimate and Vanilla and I like the difference and worth the $$ imo. I would give it an 85/100
I didnt' buy vanilla MVC3 because I was unable to (life you know), and of course the announcement of Ultimate was a rush of fresh air for me, I even bought a new 360 motivated in playin this game and I didnt regret that decision, the game is great.
Some of my friends (like most of the people in here) bought vanilla earlier this year and the great majority of them are not willing to buy Ultimate, they feel cheated, and I think thats their reason to put an under 80 score to Ultimate. Capcom is the most respected company in fighting games, and they learn fast from their mistake, Ultimate fixes every single error from the past game.
We all know Capcom likes greed, but let's face it, I've spent 60 or 40 bucks in more stupid things, and for the hours of fun this game has given to me, and the quiality factor that still reamins in it (that intro sequence is awesome!), I prefer to give now my money and motivate this industry to keep on growing. I believe.
Reviews are like character tier lists. I don't take them seriously. The only thing I take seriously is when I actually play the game for myself and I rate it accordingly. If I like it, I'll invest time and get better at it. If not, I'll play it every now and then.
Also, people, like post #1, are the salty ones who want handouts. "I don't want to buy the whole thing, just bits and pieces of it so I don't have to waste money on other parts of the game I don't want." Apparently, these same cheapaszes don't realize Capcom is a company who are in it to make profits, not to break even on every game to satisfy their customers. Capcom is nice enough to give what players want through Capcom Utilities and have FREE DLCs to patch things up. I think buying the whole content is fair as a consumer.
90 or so for me. The 40 dollar price tag and the timespan in which it came out don't mean much to me. Capcom fighters are so deep that I'm easily gonna get more time out of this game than any other one I've bought this year just by figuring out new combos and perfecting them in training mode. It did come out pretty soon in relation to Vanilla, but imo that just means more new content at a faster pace. I think all the new characters are great additions to the game and the balancing tweaks really made every character viable if you put enough time into them. I don't really care much for online but it's nice to hear they improved that a bit. I could also care less about additional modes as I've always felt that was a way to pad out a shallow fighter. Overall great game. There are some characters I wish made it in that didn't, but I won't hold that against the overall game. Where the game loses 10 points is from that f-ing interface change. The lifebars shuffling was completely unnecessary and jarring but honestly hasn't been as bad as I first imagined.
Regardless of your beliefs of how this game should have been released it is a good game none the less. I would say an 80/100 is a fair score based on content released and overall gameplay. CHARACTER ROSTERS PREFERENCE SHOULD NEVER BE INCLUDED IN A REVIEW!!!. That being said I see alot of people playing this game for quite some time. I really think people put way to much of there personal feelings about character roster into there rating of this game and there beliefs had become jaded because of that. Sure there are some characters I would have liked to have had but I can't judge the game soley on that alone. The game play is solid and fun and sure there are cheap teams but what fighting game doesn't have that. Online got a major overhaul and is much smoother because of that not to mention spectator mode was a must from the beginning. I can't wait to sink my teeth into Hero's and Heralds mode that looks like uber amounts of fun and completing the challenges to get titles and cards is going to kick my collecting obsession into overdrive. As a hardcore fan of both franchises I would have liked to see a story but truthfully I would have played through it once and had been done with it or just watched the clips on youtube. Really what matters to me is Online, Versus and Training and this game has all three anything else is just a bonus. The game overall is a good game and doesn't have as many balance issues as MvC2 had. All the character models are great looking some being better than others and while the game does have flaws it really is at the end of the day hard to say its a bad game.
they should have made this game as an option like how they did street fighter 4 arcade edition. you can select which version you want to play. i didn't want another disc-based game since the costumes are transferable.
(*wants to make a comment about the PS3 version rating higher than the xbox version but won't*)
Most of the reviews I've seen have had this same line in some shape of wording in & that's " It doesn't do enough for casuals " & that's good because they need to get of their butts & learn, I'd much rather it be unforgiving like KOF13 which says screw casuals we're not adding comebacks or Gems but that's just me. I give UMvC3 a 95/100 because it's way better then Vanilla.
#15 shut the games only been out for 2 weeks.
This whole Capcom is greedy for releasing another game disk update 9 months or a year people still complain but COD release MW2 again & EA release Madden 09 again every year it's cool throw them another 60$.
a good 85~, its a good improvement. idk if it warrants a new disc tho :p
People now days complain about the smallest things.
Look at it this way, if UMVC3 had an arcade version you would have to spend $1 per game just to play. Now add $1 every time you play a game and I can guarantee you that it would be over the $40 you spent to buy umvc3.
And for those complaining it should have been DLC. well would you rather spend $5 per character which is $60 or would you rather spend $40 on a non DLC disc?
ya...thought so.
#27 lol your opinion means nothing. Just because you can't figure the game out and get bodied every time does not mean the game is crappy. It just means you are crappy at it.
You have 2 choices, accept the fact you suck and get better, or just accept the fact you suck and stop playing.
choose one.
#6 They can't include the 2 DLC characters for free in umvc3 cause that would be a big slap in the face to those who actually paid for them in vanilla.
Clockwork reviewed the game for X-Play & G4TV.com, and his review puts it best.
www.g4tv.com/games/xbox-360/65671/ult...
Personally, I wasn't shocked when Capcom announced that an update was coming for MvC3 so soon after it's release and for anyone who has been in the fighting game scene for a long time wasn't either. SF Alpha was followed by SFA2 in less time. There used to be a new KoF every year. The span of time between SF2 to Championship edition to Turbo/Dash was pretty short too.
Granted, many of us didn't mind it, because we primarily played those games in the arcade, but I know that I also bought them when they his consoles also. Having an update is much better than letting a game just go stale. Is CvS2 still being played at Evo as a marquee game? No - as good as that game is, over time, the luster wore off and folks moved onto to other titles. 3rd Strike was also out of the rotation of marquee games at Evo, but with Online Edition putting it back into the spotlight, it might have a shot next year.
The only exceptions to a fighting game having unbelievable longevity is ST & MvC2, although I think one year at Evo it fell by the wayside due to waning interest. It's debatable but, that game was in desperate need of an update & retooling during it's long decade of constant play. I never want to see a popular fighting game go that long without an update again. And for those who a enthusiasts of this genre they should look forward to them too. They inject new lifeblood into the games we love so much and give us new experiences with each iteration. My preference though is that they wait a year before they do it, but sometimes things don't pan out the way we'd like.

LOL what? speak english please.I have no idea what you are trying to get at.
It's more content than what SSF4 brought to SF4 (new characters and old character changes) and because I ordered from newegg it was only 30 bucks. Somehow I didn't forget what happened hardly a year ago like basically everybody above me and I enjoy the game.
90/100 for me. Replay mode would've made it a 100/100. An actual single player story like they boasted before Vanilla release would've made it a 200/100. I'm happy with the game though, despite the suckiness of having to update so early.
The reason Capcom didnt make this all DLC is cause the Netcode. its really really really hard to patch net code via DLC depending on how much work is needed in it to see noticeable improvements and we all know how bad it was online especially PS3.
Well when looking at UMVC3 and UMVC3 alone as a game without factoring in MVC3 and the same year release (Which shouldn't come in to play when you review a game) then I would have to say
Gameplay 10/10 Game is really fun to play with so many options available with an open engine like this.
Graphics 9/10 Just because i'm not a fan of the HUD change
Netcode 8/10 Its great when you got 2 players with good internet but horrible when one does not.
So I guess that averages out to a 9/10 overall.
but gameplay is all that matters to me in the long run.
Funny the Ps3 Version has a worse user score than the 360.
PS3 users 5.5
360 users 7.2
Whats up with that I thought Fighters are better on the PS3? Then again people do play fighters more on the latter so the users would be higher on the PS3 than the 360.
zUkUu
It's because of the amount of changes done to the core of the code just wouldn't work as DLC
besides like i stated earlier if it were DLC
DLC would be 12 characters x $5 = $60
disc was $40
I mush rather buy a new disc at $40 and save my limited HD space.
just my opinion.
The game is a solid 90/100.
The new characters added even more variety to the existing roster and they're a lot of fun to play. The balance changes and tweaks were good (for the most part) and gave more breadth to the gameplay, which is always a good thing.
I haven't had enough time to test the online much but so far it feels more responsive/less laggy than vanilla's, at least when playing people with a 4-5 bar connection, YMMV.
Finally, considering most fighting games charge 5-8 bucks per DLC character, the 40 price tag is a pretty good deal IMO.
70/100
Same game, same mechanics, still poorly refined, still unbalanced in some aspects, characters that were broken before may not be broken now but merely replaced by new broken characters, still came out too early and could have used a lot more tweaking. Basically MvC with dlc that is still not worth the forty. Should have taken a different approach.
I guess the price isn't bad but mvc3 was an embarrassment to have the marvel vs capcom name. I dont buy their stories and excuses for 2 games in one year. They knew people would buy it again.
@flungdungfar
no it's not. capcom said they did it this way due to some schedule stalling by the earthquake in japan. it's still unacceptable. 15 bucks for that should have been enough. or 20 since they are 12 characters. also, your DLC pipe dream isn't valid at all.
they admitted it was flawed, and swore that they will never re-release a disc-ONLY based addition.
FOR 40 BUCK I LOOK AT IT LIKE SSF4
MAJOR RE-BALANCING+A COUPLE NEW CHARACTERS+A $40 PRICE TAG IN THIS $60+ GOOD GAME MARKET ITS SOLID TO ME
AND THE RE-BALANCING OF THE NEW CHARACTERS IS A PLUS TOO, NOW BEFORE YOU JUMP ON S#$T LIKE PHOENIX WRIGHT AND FRANK WEST I SAY THIS THIS YOU CONSIDER THE REST OF THE ROSTER AND THE FACT ITS A TEAM GAME AND NOT A 1 ON 1 AND IF YOU ARE SUPER PRINGLES OVER IT THEN YOU SHOULD JUST FIND A WAY TO GET THOSE "ORANGES UP THE STAIRS" 8 1/2-10...... ITS VANILLA REGEARED UP AND I DONT REALLY HAVE A PROBLEM WITH IT, AND ITS ALOT OF S#$T TO PUT ON A DISK FOR THE PEOPLE BITCHING ABOUT A DLC RELEASE, BUT YOU ALL ARE NOT AS BAD AS HARDCORE MVC2(the better game)AND MEGAMAN FANBOYS lol
I think the netcode is better still laggy but I couldn't play mvc3 online it ruined it for me but I play with friends more anyway so online isn't important to me but slot of people love online gaming
zUkUu
Your DLC pipe dream is just that a dream.
If you want to compare AE DLC to UMVC3 disc release then lets do that.
AE cost $15 as DLC and it included 4 characters. Multiply that by 3 u get 12 characters at $45 which is still more than the $40 Disc release. Plus we will get a new mode soon which is a free DLC.
I still don't understand why people are complaining about a new disc release. If it were DLC at $45+ would people rather have that?
The game is incredibly fun and I love it but lets be real, as a fighting game compare to other fighters it fells short in many ways. Even in comparison to SFIV series and they are from the same company. Other games offers way more content without the f*cking need to release an incomplete game and then cash in on another release of the same game. Idiot fanboys who think Capcom is the ultimate sh!t should pick up games like Blazblue, Tekken, Soul Calibur, MK9 to know what Im talking about. The thing is that Marvel Vs Capcom series just happens to be the most fun fighting game ever, but that alone don't constitute a great game.
It may have came too soon but to say the game is dead is false.
I have seen many japanese streams and eurpoean streams playing UMVC3....can't say that for MK9 which is what a dead game looks like.
@flungdungfar
stop calculating with the characters. it doesn't work. you didn't paid 36*5 for the inital rooster didn't you? see what I did here? it's not how things work. like I said, 15-20 bucks for a DLC would be fair for everybody. also, do take note that DLC means NO costs for production and transportation.
@13:
"It's the most uninspired sequel to the biggest let down of fighting game history and people still think it's great."
And yet you made contributions to the guide on this website.
I hate what 09 brought along with it."
And yet you PLAY what 09 has brought..
Stay retarded, EventScrubs...
MvC3 was already ass, UMvC3 isn't doing much to help it.
What you should be playing right now?
KOFXIII.
UMvC made the lowest sales even being beaten out by Call of Duty, Call of Duty!!! Not insinuating CoD is a bad game it just not popular amongst Japanese culture thus proving this game was not as good as it could have been.
#63 Initial Game cost vs DLC is always different. You should know that by now.
#66 Ah my darling KoF. So strict so precise...like Heaven people will actually sit down and learn how to properly execute in games with all these titles that are not KoF having short cuts. Still I do love me some SnK. Maybe Capcom and Marvel will learn from this and when Capcom creates SFxTk(love me some Tekken) they will understand to not rush the products.
Personally I don't care what anyone says. Kinda over trying to reveal valid points. People are gonna feel how they feel.
I bought the game. It's fun. I already got my money's worth and will continue to play it even more.
Adding 12 new males to the sausage party.
Nerfing She-Hulk while buffing Wesker and Doctor Doom? Seriously
Not including Jill and Shuma on the disk.
Not doing away with the garbage netcode
Stopping block while dashing.
Not nerfing Dark Jean.
Still a serious lack of singleplayer modes
Making all the powerful heroines nothing but cards yet to be released.
Honestly I could on and on its get a 70/100 from me and thats being generous.
Don't compare ssfiv to umvc3...street fighter is better period...look at the reviews..it speaks for itself..this game was a disappointment for both its vanilla and ultimate..mvc3 honestly has no business being mentioned in the same breath as street fighter(though it did have its issues too)...street fighter revived fighting games...so....yeah...but fluck(lol) all this dlc biz...id like Capcom to sell me a full game for once..all characters and costumes included
@69: Just like UMvC was? I agree netcode on the game subpar but it takes more time and precision to play so I will be all good and those who actually play KoF will understand.
Graphics presentation 8/10: HUD is still trashy, granted as always we will get used to it. But this is widely distasteful among many which isnt a good look. Alot of new stages rehashed but no more noticable OFFLINE lag at times(ps3 ver) when things get going on the screen or after someone dies. Character select screen and menus look good.
Gameplay 10/10: its fun to play and watch.
Online 7/10: its better than before but still off more often than it should, but havent ran into disgusting freezing lag spikes like in mvc3. atleast we got spectate mode now >_<
Offline 5/10: from outsider pov, when my friends dont feel like fight human opponents at times but want to play the game... there is nothing for him to do really as an alternative. He liked the single player aspect of tekken 6/mk9/smash bros brawl story mode adventure which all put a spin on current gameplay mechanics but presented differently for single player use.
Me personally it doesnt matter but i can understand where they are coming from.
Balance 6/10: i would like to see capcom break down there mindset of nerf/buffing of characters at some point in time. It pains me to see characters being overly used at times then to disappear near completely, or under utilized characters get there only incentive for use taken away while get nothing that would make them appealing to use. And while other characters are just lost in mediocrity and stale. Also other general problematic moves taken away from some(warranted) BUT THEN given to others, when they should be tweaked as a whole to stop the reoccurring problem from shifting to another character.
@marvelvsmyass
Yeah because what makes how good and fun a game is, are the selling numbers. That's what matters in a game quality.
Also, love the netcode reference without even experiencing it since everybody knows it is a thousand times more stable to MvC3.
LOL to you. What a joke of a mentality... Average gamer of these days.
@75: I can truly agree with you on just about all of what you have stated...excluding gampelay. Besides that great synopsis.
The game isn't great and the sausage fest Marvel roster doesn't help things at all.
Modok
Ironfist
Raccoon
Skrull
X-23
Shuma
Jill
Ko
Viper
Arthur
etc etc etc
for the most part remain faces on a character selection screen to 70% of all players and 90% of competitive players.
Somehow Capcom managed to make the game even more unbalanced by buffing characters like Spencer and Wesker and leaving the weak characters weak. And lets not mention putting in new characters that are better than a lot of the existing cast. You end up fighting people who have S-tier teams, and think they're good just because they know how to use OP Wesker or spam arrows with Hawkeye....pretty lame.
The game's really just become a giant spam fest, and it's actually WORSE than the original if you compare them in their respective dates. I'm not saying it's not an entertaining game, it's fun to play; but bottom line is it's still kind of a joke fighting game, especially compared to SSF4AE.
Sadly this news probably confirms there will not be a super ultimate addition meaning I will not see any new women from either company added with is really sad considering 12 new fighters were added.
Seriously modok and a raccoon while purposely exluding Ms.Marvel and Psylocke. Wow! Imma neva get ova that!
Ok I did the math and if you bought the jill and shuma they were 5 dollars each, and everybody was happy. The new roster is twelve character costing 40 dollars meaning it is 3 dollars and 33 cents per character so the balance changes and new mode free of charge so it is definitely worth the price if you think of it that way. Also I give it a 90 like I think Vanilla got because it's not very different and it is cheaper than If we got it is separate DLCs.
@#83
you just cant do the math raw like that, generally its cheaper to have things in bulk being sold on the online store. Having things separated cost more cause is charged per publishing. And seeing how most of the game is done already there is less production time involved so they are able to sell the game at a cheaper price without losing out.
they should be happy it got that high, it is what they promised vanilla would be but when you add all the DLC they have for the game it its more than 60 bucks.
Capcom has been lazy they make games easy and sell half as DLC. The game is ok, but there is no reason to play it other than with friends and that gets boring real quick
game is a 73/100 (when you take into fact vanilla is 9 months old and they didnt have the costumes for free that are on the disc)
@#72
MvC3 had pretty bad netcode too, didn't stop people from playing it.
It's up to the offline community to keep the game going. People laughed at Mortal Kombat, but it had a pretty damn good run throughout this year in the tournament season, I hope KOFXIII can be a hit in the competitive community, even if the netcode isn't up to par.
Hopefully SNK will patch the netcode and work on it more.
#2
Wooooooww. Someone who miserably spends $40 on video games without feeling entitled to an opinion. Your mom's bank account isn't endless.
Eh, I mean, it's okay, I guess. Hit me up with a patch to clear out some of the glitches (Phoenix W. and Morrigan/Hiryu glitches have occurred a few times for me). How long before I stop facing "Dante/Vergil (in the same costume as each other) and Wesker" teams? These things usually pass with time. Oddly enough, I've been fighting more Morrigans than the last version.
Overall, I say if they're going to keep updating it, sure. It definitely is way more "complete" in comparison with MVC3. (well, duh)
all im saying is they made a game that didnt live up to what they promised then they release they game again in the same year and and on stuff they were going to "patch" in the first one and we are supposed to be happy because its only 40 bucks? add that to the 60 (or 70) most people already paid and see if this game is worth all that money.
- SF4 was a terrible game, terrible balanced game.
- There wasnt spectate mode
- Online was awful
- Offline was awful
Then they add the same game ''spectate mode'', ''a few new characters'' ''new ultras'' and all these haters paid full price money.
Then they gave money to another version almost the same game. 2 new stupid characters, 2 clone characters.
Kof13 is the same way with SF4 to SSF4, Mv3 to Umvc3.
But they cant take the same thing to UMVC3 which they cant play.
Why?
Cuz every tournament plays Marvel game and Sf4 series lost the hype. And SfxT looks like sh1t.
So they are hopeless to be on SF4.
But they cant play Marvel.
Thats why haters act like a teenage girl who is in her period.
#92: The only reason koF may be a failure is not for the game itself because it gives tons more balance, diversity, and possibilities than anything Capcom has released that is not Rival Schools, JoJo's, or Darkstalkers. People are just too lazy now a days to sit down and actually have to learn without everything being handed to them on a silve platter which makes SnK games less popular than their easy counterparts made by Crapcom 2.0.
Whats with the KOF being a failure talk.
Street fighters: popular in north america, europe, japan
KOF: popular in central to south america, china to south korea.
Virtua fighter: Japan
MvC: USA
Tekken:South korea
Each game series have there region of dominant popularity, doesnt mean any of them are failure just not being main stream in a certain country/continent.
Also @#95
I dont agree with snk ripping off capcom nowadays, when world heroes and aof 1 was out i'd agree then. KOF games play very much different than capcom fighters and look different.
Both companies influence each other off each other ideas so they are both guilty.
Samurai shodown(and a lesser extent aof) had the revenge mechanic that sf4 ultra moves boast now. Free high damage move reward for getting beat on.
Arts of fighting first to have super meter and unleashing big super attacks. also snk had fighters with armored/autoguard moves which also another thing sf4/mvc borrowed.
Dont try to make it out that SNK is just ripping off capcom. They are no less innovative than capcom is. Not to mention the original creators behind sf1 was also behind doing fatal fury and arts of fighting so trying to blame snk behind the ripoff of ryu doesnt hold water really.
after playing it and after seeing how much capcom charged for jill and shuma gorath ($5 each) i think this game is worth every cent considering if they would have charge us for each character we would have ended up spending $60 at a $5 rate for each character, so i would rather pay $40 instead of $60 and at the same time i agree with other people about the rebalance should have been a free dlc on vanilla mvc3. they should have also added the ability for mvc3 players and umvc3 players to play together just like ssf4 and ssf4 ae player can play together but without the penalty of not being able to use ur umvc3 characters, on the vanilla mvc3 character select screen the 12 new characters shouldnt show up like if u dont have jill or shuma. but like i said before overall this is worth $40 plus it has new feature the other game doesnt have like the heroes and heralds mode, and playing with galactus
85/100, Gonna keep it short, this game is great but the aftertaste is bittersweet.
@93
So you think you can beat anyone with this basics?
Marvel game has way more creative than the other f.games.
Hard game control doesnt make a game better. It makes it unplayable.
I have friends who does training for 1 hour before ranked matches in SSF4.
Whats fun about that?
Same combos,same stuffs,same gameplay..
Dont you ever get bored and give a chance to this game?
Jezz
I think the reviews would have been higher if the Heros & Heralds mode was already out with the game. I read a handful of the reviews and the major theme in all of them was that yes, this is a great game, better than vanilla but is 12 new characters and the ability to spectate matches online worth a new purchase. Most seemed to think that this version is really only a must buy for the hardcore FG fan.
The H&H mode however, caters to more casual players and I think that if it had been on the disc at the time of the review you would have seen a 5-10% bump in the review scores.
Creativity? In Marvel?
Even in the glory days, it was all about the big three. The only change Ultimate really brought us is a different big three we'll want to see pummeled to dust.
There's even less room for the low-tier characters with X-Factor and increased hitstun deterioration, so what people really mean by creativity is coming up with new unblockables for Wesker and Vergil...
@ zukuu
this guy is the most retarted and stupidest person i have ever seen.
did u not see what you a typing???
u complaining about production and transportation.? get out the house you ugly piece of shiet.
you are jst talking about yourself. i got a few mates that dnt have the net so im glad capcom made it a disc based, plus, would you want to redeem your codes then download it to your HHD? i reckon waste of space.
its cheaper this way and saves ppl the truoble of downloading every single character one by one.
Noobs get discouraged playing online when they get destroyed in the corner again n again with no chance to play... FGS let me get a few hits in, make a few moves ...its no a tournament... my two cents.
75/100. This should have been a DLC update Capcom f-cked up there. Would have got a higher score if not for releasing the same game twice in the same year. Updates were good though balance seems tight. Too bad this wasn't the first release or would have gotten close to a perfect score from me.
