The PS3 is infinitely more popular than the 360 in Japan, so it isn't surprising that UMvC3 topped the charts in that version. Hell, look at the whole list, there's only one 360 game.

That being said, there is no "better" console. There are pros and cons to both.

The sales don't really surprise me. There's no arcade version of MvC3 so for the most part, so if people want to play it they gotta buy it for consoles.

Beaten by a Final Fantasy spinoff and something with "Project Diva" in the name... Harsh.

A JRPG and what looks like an anime game beat a game with Marvel characters in Japan. Not really a shocker there.

I'm more shocked at Call of Duty topping the charts in Japan. I thought Japanese gamers didn't like FPS games?

I really like how Sengoku Basara 3 Utage sold more than UMvC3 but that game do not have any characters in UMvC3 specially when Masamune Date and Yukimura Sanada were requested... Oh Capcom you are so lame :P

You do realize that 51,299 (presumably global) sales would make the game a major failure sales-wise, right?

Wow... I'm a big One Piece fan and I did not see this coming, and despite my hatred toward the series I'm not surprised that MW3 did that well. Funny thing though, as big of a fan that I am I agree with HolyGhost, One Piece games aren't always the most entertaining games...

My guess is there are a number of players in Japan who see Daigo etc. on TV and streams making money out of doing what they love. And they are probably thinking the MvC scene is wide open in Japan. Perhaps we'll see some new names come through this coming year as the competition hots up over there.

I haven't seen anyone that's "really disappointed" with Ultimate, and certainly not more so than the original. Most people would agree that it's a vast improvement.

He's some blue robot that put Capcom on the gaming industrial map. I dunno tho. I do hear more people talk about Megaman than any other Capcom franchise though.
