UPDATE: Capcom Unity posted their official translation of the blog today. This story has been fact-checked with it.lol they still dont know what the f*ck to do with these gay ass gems.
@ #6 - that's the biggest concern from me. The launch is relatively soon, and they're considering changing absolutely CORE parts of the fighting system. :(
I was really looking forward to this game, but it looks like, that the game is getting more and more fu**ed up now. Well time to look forward to TekkenxSF. The Artwork i saw yesterday was awesome.
"they made the activation conditions harsh"
but the activation conditions quoted dont seem difficult at all
At first when I heard about the gems I was like "damn that has to be the gayest idea". Then after a while I kinda wanted to give it a chance because I really want this game to be big. But man I can't hold it no more, this is really poops. If I was 12yrs old yeah maybe I would've wanted to play around with gems and stuff, but this whole gem idea makes the game feel mad nerdy haha. People are trying to turn fighting games into something big, but this gimmicky game is a step back if they want anyone to take them seriously.
Now that I think about it, maybe capcom wants to attract a younger audience to fighting games, like 10-16yrs old or something. One thing is sure in my mind, Capcom doesn't want to satisfy their hardcore fanbase with that game. As it is right now, the only element that is appealing to me is the awesome roster.
Anyway that's all personal opinion, so if you don't agree it's fine, just don't act like a moron and throw flames all around.
I think there should be no gems with the same activation so there would be more variety on the gameplay. Having too many gems with the same activation leads to the same scenario more often.
Hey dont forget ladies, these gems that they want to push so hard has a secret agenda. Its their way of cashing in more money as DLC's. More gems = more options. More options = advantage.
I'm pretty sure they said that YOU DON'T HAVE TO USE THEM - which is probably how tournaments will be run.
when i first heard of the gem system, i thought it would be similiar to pocket fighter where you collect gems and your moves will be "souped up". i was disappointed that it wasn't. i wish they made a sequel to pocket fighter.
DLC Gem After Life:
Regain 50% health after being low and landing a 5 hit combo.
@28 they should make a sequel to puzzle fighter too. i love the chibi style of graphics.
One more week till The Kingt of Fighters XIII's coming out. So glad...
"they made the activation conditions harsh."
Gem: (50% meter gain increase)
Conditions: Guard four attacks
THIS GAME WILL BE BALANCED.
If you condone this type of marketing then you are an idiot.
Capcom's Fighting games is turning into the CoD of FPS...half assed money milking marketing.
Although Ive never played this game or used it's gem system yet I'm going to make ignorant comments anyway because I'm an elitist member of the fighting game community and also because that seems to be the trend everyone else is taking and I want to be popular on the intarwebz too!
Has nothing to do about being elitist or being "cool" on the internet. If you have half of a brain, you would see and understand everyones concerns.
#32 do you work for Crapcom or something?
I looked forward to SF4 but it took loads of time to balance and even still they are re-balancing. Should tell you something. MvC3 was garbage. Sorry I realize there are fans of the game here but most people that played the previous versions don't think well of this release. Yes I have the game and I let my pet play with the damn box and dvd, it's utter trash. SFxT for all that we want badly for it to be good, it's going to be trash. The game is near launch and Pandora sucks, they think so too. This gem non-sense is a money making scheme. They are jumping on the DLC bandwagon like blizzard or some of the other MMORPGS types of companies. It's all about money. Those conditions are stupid. I want to play a game where at the start of each round it feels like the same game as the end of the round. 5 dumb gems with different needs of activating adds a dumb stress that games don't need. It's a game not a job. At first I thought the gems even though dumb, might be good since you can balance your own character as Capcom is too lazy to do it right. But now you can clearly see, they don't really know what they're doing with these gems at all.
Easy way to fix gems and not remove them if they can't due to programming, lower the roster of gems to like 10. Keep them BASIC and PASSIVE, i.e. SLIGHTLY more damage or SLIGHTLY more meter gain etc. Stop bein greedy f**** and worrying about your wallets post dlc. This crap keeps up they're gonna find a petition of people who WON'T buy this game. I for one right now am not buying it and would sign a damn petition. Will wait 6 months post launch on this forum and others to see how bad it is haha.
Bottom line is, you can't BALANCE a game with 100+ gems, some crap pandora mode that is going to get tweaked to death, and 50 characters that need constant re-balancing.
Someone needs to get fired for this trash!
I don't work for "Crapcom", but I definitely support them. capcom has a lot of potential in fighting games, u need to see the bigger picture. In order for them to make more games in the future in order for them to please the fanbase in the future they need to make a lot of money, it's as simple as that.
Are people still whining about gems.....jeez ha
#37 Agreed
#38
COD is not the best FPS lmao...its the same game over and over again and idiots buy it every year allowing the developers to repeat their actions. They sell well and thats it..the game is trash and targeted for brainless kids who just wants to respawn after dying in 3 secs.
BF3 is a better overall game even though it might not sell as good as CoD.
sorry for the triple post, but people also should stop whining with the "super was balanced and AE is unbalanced bullsh*t". All of you where whining and begging for AE to be released on console, so y'all did it to yourself in the first place.
I agree that the game is a bit unbalanced but that's only because of yun and feilong, if you take them out, the game is perfectly balanced except for the blanka-thawk matchup :p
@38 Cod is s--t right now. That game does not have gun on gun atm even if you have Specialist it's the perks that's still helping you out. At least COD doesn't sell perks like CA$HCOM's Gems Collection even though it's a gameplay mechanic.
#35 instead of pretending you're "cooler" than other people and the "intarwebz", why not discuss constructively your positive views? This forum is for discussion after all and we all did view the same videos. Unless you have some hands on experience we don't, don't pretend to know the game is going to be good. Tell the vast majority of us why we are probably wrong.
Looks like Mike Z timed his game right. Capcom keeps this up (catering to the casuals and free players for easy cash), tons of other fighting game companies will rise and take over.
I say let capcom die, we need a better company out there creating true fighting games.
Seeing some of you making FPS comments :) I want in on that! I used to play quake 3 somewhat competitive on the net. Found all the FPS after that to be a bit slow for my tastes. Also they all started focusing more on realism. I don't have issues, I don't want to pretend I am killing someone for real. That's why I play games for the surreal stuff.
Hey Crapcom. Shove your gems up your KEISTER and keep them warm. I call them Geisha gems. kthxbai.
I don't wanna discuss how bad or how good COD is, I don't like playing FPS in the first place, but saying COD sucks is just a lie, u can say you u don't like it, but u can't say it sucks or say that it is s--t, it IS overrated and Battlefield 3 IS indeed better, but COD is still a good game.
The reason I'm supporting Capcom and willing to give sfxt a chance is because I don't want them to end up like mistwalker, they released one hell of a game namely lost oddyssey, it was purely made for the fans, one of the best next gen RPGs there is. But it didn't sell well eventho the game rocked IMO. And now they're done making RPGs -___- I don't want capcom to end like them that's all...
wow a lot of selfish and greedy people in this world.
Never satisfied with what they get and always wanting something different or more more more.
Quit crying kids, its just a game, and if u don't like it don't buy it.
and as for the COD argument, that series is garbage. FPS in general is garbage.
It so easy and user friendly you might as well just sit on your desktop and click on folders.
Also people saying SFxT is garbage because of gems haven't even played it yet, then say im gonna wait for TxSF instead, because the artwork look amazing!
So you will base a game off of 2 little pieces of concept art and call it amazing but have no idea how the game will play or even look.
LMAO
I swear the kids now days are so easily bought by eye candy and "concept art".
What ever happened to enjoying a game cause it had good gameplay?
#50, Dont worry, I dont plan on buying this barebone game that sells for full price since the gem is the main core of the game which will sell through DLC's
Its like trying to sell X-Factor for Marvel:
Its there. its part of the core game play...you DONT have to use it but the person you are playing against will and will whoop your ass :P.
Remember, the person with the most options has the most advantage.
WARNING, DO NOT READ WHILE SALTY:
Okay, more people following the crowd with the whole "Gems are gay!" BS. No matter what Capcom says none of you will be satisfied with the gems unless they took them out, I wouldnt care but I also dont care that they're in the game either. Its really not a big freaking deal.
People complained that the gems would stack and be broken so they fixed it and you're still not happy, they told you that you didn't have to use them for yourself and you're still talking nonsense, they said DLC gems wouldnt be game breaking and you're still trashing the game, they said the gems are staying so stop asking them to remove them just smile when they try to meet their demands from the whiners like you while trying to sell a game. They've been making these changes to shut you up and the game still has months left to go so before you say "I'm not buying this!" how about you let me enjoy my game and just go play KoFXIII or something? nobody said the game was competitive they called it a party and a celebration, why can't anybody just enjoy a game without it being hardcore i'm gonna love all of the features, customization, and online with my friends tag teaming you can go kick rocks if some gems are holding your wallet back. the one time capcom loads a game with actual features it becomes a problem yet i bet you have that barebones game mvc3 in your xbox or ps3 probably right now.
To obtain the gem listed you have to block 4 attacks to get it (which is easy) but it doesnt last very long it only lasts for 15 seconds unlike oooh I dunno level 3 X-factor!? but I bet there is a guy reading this whom doesnt like gems but bought MvC3 and plays it seriously if you fit these terms you're just a dickrider and one of the many pawns for the "I wish I was pro" army.
Pay attention to ALL of the details instead of band waggoning the rest of the community about your tourney bullcrap. I bet none of you even go to tourneys you just bitch about how the scene you're not personally involved in will change. bunch of elitist online warriors nut hugging each other. Just dont buy the game then keep playing games more worth your money. I hope you get Lvl 3 X-factored by wesker or Pile drived to oblivion by Tager or Genei jin'ed to death by Yun, Think before you type.
@54
I agree with you 100% man. I mean why come on every piece of sfxt article and trash it? Its like u mande ur point..what more are u trying to do? KOF 13 is just as good if this isnt what you want... Time to give this gem fight up..
15 seconds is actually a lot of time for a buff to last. Also, you can have 2 of the same or similar so perhaps 30 seconds. If they are sticking to true old fighting games that is a total of 1/3 of a round. You don't think that is significant?
Make em passive and take out DLC gems. Buying the same game over and over isn't appealing to anyone. Some people are commenting on other people complaining that they are never satisfied etc. The game isn't free, nor are the gems.
This isn't about people whining, it's about people making valid requests they are PAYING for. It's not like this is a PC game people are going to rip off the net for free. Capcom is not going to sell just 100 copies they need to milk, no sir they are going to sell A LOT more.
@53 & @54 - MY problem with that argument is that every copy of Mvc3 has X factor in it, & every person has the option to activate it. That's not the same case with gems.
#53 says "Remember, the person with the most options has the most advantage." & the problem with that is, it's been confirmed most gems will be DLC so the person who pays more money will have the advantage. There's the issue.
#54 Said "Pay attention to ALL of the details", well you haven't since you didn't consider this gaping hole in your logic.
im a very big sf fan and ive been playing since i was 8 in a local chip shop (SF1) loool with my older brother! then when sf4 was announced i went out and bought a ps3 lol its the only game i play lol
loved mvc2 but i played with friends who never knew how to unlock the full potential of the game so when mvc3 came out i picked it up and realised i sucked loool casually its fun but i cant compete like sf4 series.
then they announced sfxt and it looked sick my type of game sf4 system with a touch of the vs system... at first i werent to bothered with gems but i needed to know more but now im starting to think its all a bit too deep lol all this picking gems and buying them sounds a bit worrying.
i personally think some people will think what the f is all this crap i knew some people that got pee'd off with having to unlock chars lol so all this picking gems is gonna deter them from this game they will still play it but its all gone a bit geeky now lol
im hoping this game pans out to be a hit and a legend as it has the hype to do so but if i find this is all a bit to neeky for me i will be happy to stick with ssf4 v12 as that is definitely the type of sf game i feel in love with from when i was a kid
regardless of whatever happens im just happy capcom made the sf4 series and for that alone i take my hat shoes and socks off... then i sit back and go 4 hours straight with a few toilet and smoke breaks!
#57, you fail to see that gem is the core gameplay. It will be there..its your choice whether you want to pick them or not while your opponent will obviously pick them. There is no option to turn off the gems. It is much like xfactor but in dlc form.
To add, you don't have to activate xfactor but your opponent will..Much like gems, you don't have to pick them but your opponent will.
I wouldn't give two sh!ts had the gems been FREE. They are a core element as well as being a DLC?! that's such a bs move. Capcom is going downhill. From selling color palettes to CHEAT CODES and now a core element of gameplay?! What's next? a 60$ demo with additional 60$ required to unlock the game?
The more fighting games come out and saturate the market the more I am right about what is going to happen in the coming years. It's going to DRY UP and fade away soon kiddies. Bet on it happening. SF4 brought back a lot of nostalgic hype and resurged the whole bandwagon of fighters but that is quickly diminishing. Whoever said Capcom is becoming like CoD is right. And whoever said CoD is the best FPS out there is an idiot. True, it's the best FPS out there TODAY but it's a dumbed down casual shooter for autistic kids struggling with ADD. MADDEN WARFARE 3 is a prime example. Yes MADDEN because they sh1t out a new CoD game every year just to MILK you bad kids.
Are you kids mad right now? You salty? Truth is rough I know for kids who think their precious franchise video game could possibly be the thing of the past due to over saturation and just a general lack of interest from the mass public.
SFxT is just the beginning.
I feel bad that they're trying really hard to make this system sound as appealing as possible but only achieving the opposite effect...the game play footage from Korea didn't have gems in it and it looked like a fun game even though it didn't have this "core" mechanic available.
@67 As a person who stopped playing brain-dead fps for fighting games, CoD has infiltrated fighting games. You can stay in that ignorant world of yours and enjoy your CoDified fighter.
@45 apparently both sarcasm and the complete ignorance of 3/4 of the posts in this "discussion" are lost to you.
@64 Sorry to burst your little "I am right" bubble but as long as EVO is around fighting games will never die.
And trying to compare cod series to SF/mvc/sfxt is laughable.
COD = 1 Car multiple paint jobs
SF/mvc/sfxt = all different cars, they feel, look and play all differently form eachother.
so has ono or anyone said when the next character announcement is?
#72, the cod comparison went way over our head. You sir are an idiot.
Action speak much louder than words... And even more so than typed words. If it truly makes you unhappy with their choices... Stop buying any and everything Capcom puts on the market. After they start seeing major drops in sales... They will begin to truly listen. I saw somewhere in a previous article that Capcom stated that North America was about 60% of their sales or something similar to that. If that is true then if the majority here stopped buying the products.. Would it not come to their attention?
I just feel that if this gem system is killing the majority's desire for a game or two... Then it is high time you guys give Capcom some tough love... You all did it before... You can do it again.
Its not about who pays the most money, there will likely be a lot of dlc Gems that you'd have zero use for even if you were given them for free. If you have to download Gems, just work out which ones you would use the most and just download those.
Next characters will be revealed a few days before Christmas.
LISTEN YOU RETARDS! YOU DINT HAVE TO USE THE GEMS YOU DON'T HAVE TO USE THE GEMS YOU DINT HAVE TO USE THE GEMS YOU DINT HAVE TO USE THE GEMS WHAT DONT YOU RETARDS UNDERSTAND! NOBODY SAID THEY'D BE PAYED DLC AND THE GAME COMES WITH OVER A HUNDRED FROM THE START! SHUT YOUR STUPID MOUTHS YOU PEOPLE DI NOT REPRESENT THE GC YOU ARE A FEW LOW LEVEL PLAYERS WHO COME ON A SITE ONLY THE GC IS INTERESTED IN AND EVEN WE THE ACTUAL PLAYERS WHO WOULD PUT THEIR MONEY WHERE THERE MOUTH IS LAUGH AT YOUR IDIOTIC HALF ASSED COMMENTS. STFU YOU RETARD TROLL SCRUB FRAUDS! SHUT YOUR MOUTH OR PLAY TO PROVE YOU HAVE A RIGHT TO COMMENT ON A COMPETITIVE GAME! IF YOU DONT HAVE HUNDREDS OF HOURS IN THE GAME YOU COMMENT ON SHUT UP! FOR SOME REASON CAPCOM THINKS THE LOUD MOUTHED TROLLS ACTUALLY PLAY ON A SERIOUS LEVEL! YOU MORONS RUINED THE BALANCE OF AE AND YOU DON'T EVEN PLAY IT SERIOUSLY! SHUT UP AND YO AWAY LITTLE SCRUB FRAUDS! SHUT UP! IF ANY IF YOU SCRUBS WANT TO COMMENT PROVE YOU HAVE THE RIGHT AND SEND THE REQUEST THAT'S MY PSN TAG, PROVE YOU PLAY THE GAME TROLLS! COME ON!
#75, exactly ..I'm trying to aware people of what their buying into. Avoid the game.
I don't know what most people' s gripe with UMVC3 is aside from the lack of non DLC content. The game isn' t terrible unless you think all games with tiers are but no need to label this game as a miss for Capcom though. Capcom is going to continue releasing multiple versions of essentially the same game and i don't see this game being any different especially if the ones who will buy the game are gonna cry about it later. Boo-hoo my character is too weak and needs more tools...buff them now!
It' s a never-ending story with you imps...please don't blame Capcom exclusively for your inferiority complex.
@#78
People are aware..that part is clear....and everyone knws you dnt like sfxtk or capcom.... but im sure the ppl here can and will make their own decision about this game..no need feeding your hate to others....
@flungdungfar
It's like you read my brain's teleprompter
@17: "so what's the next Capcom game coming out? MVC has been ruined"
Read: I suck at this game, and every other Vs game, but I'll pretend I know what the fuc* I'm talking about.
"SF4 is decent"
09'er SPOTTED
"and SFxT is going to suck for sure the more we hear/see the more people question the game"
You can predict the future? HOLY S*IT, I need to know whether or not the world ends on in 2012, TELL US
It's just easier to call you a fuc*ing moron
this game is to far into production to remove the gem system completely. its unfortunate the producers thought these gems would make the game better. fighting game need to be as balanced as possible for everyones enjoyment, this feature really does bother me.
The game is clearly going to be beast, the more they reveal the more i get excited to play the game. You can't say the game is going to bad or broken when its not even out. Yes, i do understand the concern for tourney play and sure we don't know enough but at least let them finish before we start to bitch. I'm not a pro player but i do enjoy the sf4 and mvc3 titles very much and play them almost everyday. Prior to vanilla street fighter 4's release i was skeptical because i was a die hard mortal kombat fan, but in putting things in perspective i manned up and relaized i like sf way more than any mk game. So stop being salty until the game comes out. The txsf game has two pictures and one looks like a sf4 pic, just EVERYONE STFU, SIT YOUR ASS, READ THE FORUMS, AND BITCH AFTER THE GAME IS COMPLETED!!!
@#91
LMAOOOO... couldnt agree more man. Im actually gonna buy this..fully aware of that tricks capcom pulls.... but im a sucker for Nina Williams and Cammy in the same game.Im not purchasing no dlc gems..costumes..ect..just what my 60$ buys me..go online and dnt care if gems are used against me or what... Im excited to see the crazy colors people are gonna have online...and if I can take a dude who decides to use these gems.... Imma play the hell outta this and kof 13...until they release tekkenxsf...
50% meter gain for blocking a block string lulz. What a joke.
I'm buying the game. I'll either enjoy it... Or I won't. Who cares? I'm sure you people don't. So I won't bother blithering on about this or that and how I feel. Who cares.
But I would like to bring it to Capcom's attention that they might be alienating the "casual" fans more than catering to them.
All of the "casual" fans that I know bought SF4 and MvsC3. Furthermore, those same "casual" fans seem to have no plans to buy SFxT. Strange right?
Well, let me explain. Making a team, then changing the game with hundreds of gems, then telling them about the "collectors" gems and the retailer exclusive gems turns plug and play casual gamers off.
I have no idea if this game will be good or bad. But I will say it seems mad complicated lol. And difficult to explain to ppl.
Charge Super, Dash Cancel, Reversal properties ftw!
((@58)) key word is "perhaps" perhaps it will, perhaps it wont theres really nothing left to say you're just thinking negative for the sake of it. Paranoia over video games? Thats dedication i respect that. ((@57)) lol okay tell me what DLC gem is going to make that problem occur? Whats that? you don't know any!? these are just speculation and people getting red in the face over what they don't know!? Why didn't you say so!? Yeah, I had the "mind reader" gem on, it's activation is hearing stupid scrubs trying to sound smart. Here are quotes from Seth Killian who knows much more than you.
"A good player will always beat a weaker player, and the gems aren't going to change that mechanic in any way shape or form."
"The system is still in development as far as implementation goes."
"Will gems create an imbalance inherently? If you have more gems than I do, does that give you an advantage? Ono-san mentioned the Magic The Gathering concept. There were some ridiculously powerful cards versus, here's a land card. There were some cards that were clearly massively more powerful and valuable than others. The gem system is not approaching it that way. The gems are all meant to be balanced against each other."
"Some of the gems have liabilities built in, where you'll power up your punches by 25 per cent, but your kicks will now lose eight or nine per cent damage."
"It does create all these interesting little meta-games around whether you're going to change your strategy based on an effort to try and activate the gems."
"It may be the case that if you have more gems than I do, you have more customisability options, but it's not going to be the case that you have straight up more powerful gems than I do."
I stopped reading the interview there but seriously guys people are complaining about stuff being addressed and questions that have been answered already. Its ironic that people who've tested it LOVE the game and people who troll forums hate it and (go figure) haven't even touched it yet.
Link to interview: http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/201...
I don't know how some ppl can complain about ppl complaining,
most of us will be spending our money on the game which entitles our opinion to be heard, I have every right to complain about AE because I spent my money that could have be used elsewhere, To get change you can't be quiet.
As for the gems, It has to be (probably Ono's) ego/false pride that makes them keep it the way it is, if you have customers and A LOT of them are saying "we do not like your product, we will not buy it" don't you guys think that's reason enough to change it fast? granted you can't please everyone but nobody asked for gems to be added, nobody would miss it because we did not expect it.
Like I said before in a previous article, if they want to be smart about this they should give us just 5-10 gems at first , so players can get a feel for it, if the response is good, give the rest as a DLC, free or pay for is up to them.
wowoww, after reading this i dont know how anybody would even buy this.
I cant even gather how many times in the past the public had a terrible opinion of a game, and it came out fine, and the vice versa as well. For now, I really only have a concern whether they go overboard with the DLC gems. Having DLC gems is fine, because I will have plenty to pick from just off the disc. Hopefully the ones they put as DLC aren't overpowered compared to the rest.
I dont know why people are complaining about the boost gems and that some activations seem easy. This is obviously supposed to be a flashy fighter. It's not street fighter style. It's mean to have lots of juggle, crazy combos, over the top supers, etc. Of course they will have easy ways to build excessive meter. It honestly sounds like Marvel's approach of constantly having meter. They toned down the damage too so we'll need plenty of supers just to avoid time outs lol.
And as far as complaining about balance, I dont know why everyone gets so bent out of shape about balance. At the end of the day, all that really matters is that you don't have anyone that is completely broken and is above all others by a great margin to the point that it's pointless to fight him. The game will have overpowered characters, and the game will have lackluster characters, just like every other fighter. It practically unavoidable even with a game with a modest roster, let alone one of like 40 people. The gems can actually help people buff against their weaknesses to compensate. Just wait and see. It's going to be a crazy flashy over-the-top fighter. If that's not your cup of tea and you are expecting some technical, fairly dry, yet traditional fighter, there are other games out there for you.
Capcom have always looked for new directions with their IPs. e.g. DMC, RE & Megaman. Just because this is first time they're doing it with their fighting games, some people act like Capcom has suddenly turned on them. Well, the truth is that they're probably used to the backlash from deviating from the norm and they'll probably keep on doing it.
Personally, i'd like to get some hands on time with gems already. Come on, Capcom. Get a demo out already!
@104
Please tell me what makes Capcom so greedy for DLC gems, when we don't know how much they are charging yet or what they even are? Perhaps we can blame Capcom for going with the status quo, but what company isn't doing DLC? Capcom already had DLC with marvel 3 having jill and shuma available weeks after release for five dollars each. Mortal Kombat has had a ton of DLC that trickled down for like five dollars each. SF4 had DLC. Blazblue had DLC. Tons of games over all genres have DLC that either adds to the game, or gives you extra benefits.
SF x Tekken is no different than any of the other games. The game is already coming with the majority of gems for free. Either be satisfied with those, or you have the option to download more. No one's twisting your arm.
@105
If the gems weren't a core mechanic of the game, I wouldn't have given a damn about 'em being DLC. If all DLC gems turned out to give you more tweaking options in terms of your character's appearance only, I honestly wouldn't mind 'em AT ALL just like the costumes in SF4.
Please don't tell me that "ohh but we don't know how powerful the DLC gems are", I don't care, even if they added only 1 extra damage to your attack, it should be available to all so we can unlock our characters potential and strategies on even grounds, not because someone has something the other player doesn't.
I for one can afford DLC gems without any issues, but if I played someone who doesn't have access to DLC gems, I will feel like I have an unfair advantage. Fighting games should show who's the better player because they both have access to the same tools.
@106
How do you feel about people who don't have access to fight sticks?
@106
What i was actually referring to was DLC characters, a major part of fighting games. Sure, you only deal with it during that match up, but whoever is using a DLC character automatically has an advantage if the other guy doesnt unless he just knows how the character works from online videos or something. Tons of other games in other genres though have DLC addons for multiplayer more akin to what the gems would do, such as some first and third person shooters, in the form of perks or buffs. It's never been a dealbreaker, just something you deal with.
How about you just wait and see what the DLC gems are? You have no idea if they are going to improve abilities, change appearance, etc. Nobody really knows how this is gonna play out since it hasn't been attempted before in a fighting game. I hardly think it will be a product without any issues, but it's a fun attempt to try something new.
@109
Who said I'm behind the idea of DLC characters in a competitive fighting game? Same **** to me, people don't complain about MvC3's DLC character because they're nothing special and aren't common enough to complain about 'em since they effected those matchups only (Gems will effect every matchup), if Phoenix, Wolverine or Wesker were paid DLC characters, I'm sure Capcom would have gotten a completely different feedback from the community.
Just because other games do certain stuff, it doesn't magically justify those things and make 'em right. If enough people are against something and it led to significantly affect the sales of a Company's product, they'll be Forced to make changes.
Capcom must be taking feedback from the community now and see how are we responding to their paid GEMs DLC bull****, I'm voicing my opinion out and saying that if they'll effect the gameplay in any way, I for one am not buying this game and hopefully many won't fall for their bull**** either.
@ 58 Hands of God playing in a Chip shop that's old school, the first place I played Street Fighter 2 was in a Sweet Shop. The first place I ever played any Arcade games was a South London fried chicken shop.
Anyhow with SxT I was hoping for a tag game with similar mechanics to SF4. With the focus being on fighting rather than additional gimmicks. There's still hope the game has a decent line up so we may all be surprised.
@108
"Fighting games should show who's the better player because they both have access to the same tools."
It's one thing when a player can choose between a stick and pad, what about those who can't? Those who are forced to play on pad although they prefer stick? Where's the outrage for their plight?
@112
Are you seriously retarded to make such comparisons? In that case how would you feel about people who like a fighting game but can't afford buying the console or can't afford buying the game?
I'm talking purely about in-game tools that's controlled only by Capcom considering the players already have access to use their choice of how to control the game whether via pads, sticks or hitboxes.
@113
When Daigo went to Evo in 2009, he and his friend had to borrow fight sticks because they don't own one.So, not everyone has access to it.
Sticks may not be "in-game", but that are so important to it that people have quit playing completely when they lost their stick. Sticks are not cheap to replace after all.
I consider the gems to be same as fight sticks in that they are both just options. If DLC gems should be free to give all players the same options, than fight sticks should be free as well. But neither are free and that's just how it is.
So to answer your question, whether it is a console, a game, an arcade sticks, or even gems, they will have to buy it if they want it. Stop using selective logic.
Btw, if you really need to call people a retard to get a point across, you might want to look up the difference between Responding and Reacting. Just sayin.
@114
At the end of the day, anything you can do on a stick CAN be done on a pad whether it's your preference or not. On the other hand, if anything can be done using certain paid DLC gems, it can NOT be accomplished when you don't have 'em.
Your logic fails so bad I don't even know why I'm responding, it's people like you who make it OK for game developers to release half assed games these days then pay extra for the whole package.
Not gonna bother explaining it to you anymore, it's a waste of time.
LOL! If there were more people like me, then Capcom would stop wasting their money to make DLCs since I've never bought any except for AE upgrade. I doubt I'll be buying any in the future. ;)
While you can do most of the stuff in-game with any controller, can you do them the same way? Can you grip a pad, stick or hitbox the same way? Can you press the buttons with the same finger motions? Aren't these options that are controller exclusive? Shouldn't everyone have access to all options?
If you say any controller is good enough, then I can say that any gem is good enough. After all, it should be about how you use them, not what you use.
It's cool if you don't want to continue. Thanks for sharing your opinion anyway.
This game stinks of garbage. Hopefully other people could smell it from a mile away like I could.
@16 I don't understand why people do this. You're whining about people whining. You're just as bad as them, why do you do it?
I really can't understand what makes people so mad when they're reminded of these gems. I mean, you just landed three hits this way! Here, have an attack bonus for a period of time! OH NO SO GAMEBREAKING.
I guess the DLC-only gems thing is kind of a kick in the nuts, though, but that's the only truly bad thing about this. I think you guys are overreacting too much, once the game is out you'll most likely see how they don't really change as much of the game as you think.
Wasn't this posted a couple of days ago and just put back on the front page??
Been playing KoF13 for the past few days and funny enough when your going through arcade there are certain conditions you have to meet to build drive meter. These conditions include landing 3 attacks,jumping 3 times, performing 3 role backs or landing a desperation move. It seems very similar to the gem system except without boost perks but honestly its not bad. You find yourself wanting to meet the conditions faster and faster without delay and personally if this is the way the gem system will work I look forward to it. However DLC gems is a big no no.
@128
theres a difference between being open minded and not looking at something for what it is.
wow so much time waste on the gems id rather have them spending time on makin more characters instead of stupid gems. 15 seconds wtf we got x factor mode guys just speed gem, speed gem and attack gem or speed, attack and attack.
Can't believe I'll be playing SF4 for another f-ing year at least. Damn that sucks I'm bored to death already. UMVC3 ain't my cup of tea, Blazblue CS2 they messed up my character, SFxT looks like a game to attract children... Leaves KOF13, looks awesome but sucks when there's no community support for a game. I'm still hoping for Capcom to admit the gems are wack for competitive play and add a mode w/o them.
If they don't make these stupid gems tournament friendly they're going to be a complete waste of time. Because tournaments are whats making fighting games popular again. And frankly, if gems aren't tournament friendly, tournaments will just ban them. Thus nobody(At least players actually training to be good on tournament levels.)will never use them as they don't want something that's going to boost something they wont have in a tournament.
All I can say is they better come up with an easy way to have ALL gems available and easily equip able for EACH player to be able to set in a reasonable time frame. Otherwise, this ridiculous amount of development time could have been spent on more characters or balance focus.
wtf? dejavu comments! LOL
on another note. as much as i dont mind the gems,
they should've just kept it nice, clean and simple. No gems.
Plain SF x Tekken like it should've been...
if i wanted gems, i would play pocket fighter. capcom messed up with this game. i'm not looking forward to it as much as tekken x street fighter.
What's up with all this hate for something you haven't tried out yet. Things need to EVOLVE people, and adding this strategy factor to the game is one step forward for sure. U mad bro? Why dont all of you bashing the new system, go back to play SF2 and do whatever tournaments you want for it, "clean and simple".
I won't discourage capcom for tryin something new and perfectly rational. It's like adding some of Starcraft (or any other strategy game) to SF, will not depend only on execution, now you have to know your opponent as well. I like it, at the end this game is becoming whatever you want it to be in terms of complexity.
Complaining bout gems now is like being a little freakin' 5 year-old kid who wont eat something because "they dont like it" but have never tried it before.
And I'm gonna laugh when Namco introduces their dlc game booster whatever it is for TxSF for all those "who are going to wait"
Im just gonna pick two characters I love (Ryu and maybe Jin) and pick gems that are really good for my playstyle, simple as that. I don't plan on getting any DLC gems. This game will be in tournaments for sure.
You can also think of gems as a handicap in online play. If you want a challenge, don't use any gems.
It really seems like a games that will make you a better player.
LOL, I'm with #140 no this, true comment dude. Guaranteed they're all love the gems and feel like muppets afterwards
Well, at the end of the day, moral of the story is " you can satisfy some of the people some of the time, but you can't satisfy all of the people all of the time.
Let me throw this in (and think on this):
1. Complain about the gem system. Let's say they take it out, even though they've stated in earlier interviews that the gem system would be OPTIONAL from the get-go. Now you have a regular 2v2 party game. But guess what?
2. Balance issues. Now you want a re-balance b/c some characters are OP. They do this. Now another set of characters are OP. And on and on and on.
3. roster size. It's too small. Make it bigger, b/c you hold out that your favorite character will make it in the next installment. Which, in turn, will lead back to number 2.
Simply put, some of you will buy it. Some of you won't. But everyone will be a critic before AND after release. I bet this, though. If Justin, Marn, Combofiend, Mike Ross, and/or even Fanatiq decided to pick this up and play this, most of the people shouting foul are gonna be the first ones lining up at Gamestop or wherever and buying it solely b/c they're playing it. Some will stick to their guns and say nay to SFxT. Hell, if Spooky streams it, I bet you'll watch. You complained about MvC3. You didn't like it, they made another. People complained about UMvC3 (b/c of the non-existent features in vanilla). People STILL WENT OUT AND BOUGHT IT! Same with SF4. People complained about balance issues. You STILL BOUGHT AND PLAYED IT! Long story short, no matter how much you complain about it, some of you will still shell out the dough to buy it ("cough" hypocrite "cough"). If Capcom is catching this much hell this early, I feel sorry for DMC5 (DmC is in the same boat at the moment) and Asura's Wrath.

It's about damn time someone talks about that. Funny thing is that people that say that won't buy it or play it are hypocrites!
I actually love sf. But this game is looking more and more disappointing.
#134
I used Litchi since BB:CT day one. Never used another character. In CS2 none of what she could do before still works it's horrible. I tried to find high level replays of litchi in CS2 and all you see is the same short 6 or 7 hit combo bnb that is not even the same bnb as before. It's mad awkward now. I know before that if you landed a crouching jab, you could go into a long azz combo, reset in the corner and pretty much win, but now she's just boring to use. Maybe they could've lowered her dmg output or something. Anyway
#143, you need to read this whole page..all of your nonsense has been addressed.
@147 lol, you think you got it bad? Hazama is completely different, and Tager just got worse :L
@150 it's true, he's capable but, he's still so weird.
@154 read the post bro, I didn't say he was bad, just everything changed about him

First of all, i dont care about Justin Wong, Mike Ross, or any of your heroes.. The game was fine without the gems in my opinion. I dont ride their nuts like you do. As for SFxTekken, I am pretty sure that Redbox or Gamefly will have the game.. If the gems are ok, then I might buy the game or wait for Super SFxTekken Overhyped Edition comes out...
Overhyped edition will take out gems. And thus be the better sequel they always make. Yay for capcom and their monotony. It's like a bad joke you can see coming a mile away from them by now.
JUST DON'T BUY THIS ONE, WAIT FOR THE NEXT OF NUMEROUS INSTALLMENTS AND THAN PICK ONE OF THOSE
It's so simple what don't people get already?
lool@SrAbuguet~ dont hate meee~
i dont mind the gem stuff as well, if anything im looking FORWARD to it. just saying since this is the DREAM game for me, it would've been better to just keep it nice n simple instead of adding stuff to it, which FOR ME, feels like its just taking afew steps back from what im looking forward to~ but yeah, im ALL up for this game, and the gems too! So yeah...STILL HYPED. NEED MORE NEWSS~
They're still trying to sell people on this garbage?
