Heh, THat's how it's always worked for me. in Alpha 2, I got good with guy 'cause I thought his foreward walk was awesome. didnt play much SSF4, but I used guy pretty well in that game too.. As for Smash Bros. Melee n' Brawl, Peach was my main because I was a huge Peach fanboy and I eventually got to the point where I had no one to fight against because I kept taking everyone out.

Now MvC3 (Vanilla) I honestly couldn't find a character I liked or could get excited about. I was only ok with spencer and Zero.

with UMvC3, I love Phoenix Wright and Frank west, so those are currently my main 2... I'm starting to like having hawkeye paired with them, but I don't know much of his moves yet, plus, I've only just started getting decent at comboing with frank.... however, I keep accidently using his launcher instead of his camera, and I feel that I could stand to be more aggressive with Wright

Man I'm surprised how many people besides me have Frank West and Phoenix Wright on the same team.

I usually bait with Phoenix and do a TAC into Frank and snapshot so I'm guaranteed to get to atleast level 2.

Also, I have Taskmaster as my 3rd guy.

Dante, because he is the reason I bought the game. I was seriously like f*** mvc3 until I found out he was in the game. Mained him since day one, I've beaten every DMC game on the hardest difficulty multiple times.

Doom, because wanted a beam assist, and I loved his win quotes.

Akuma, for tastu assist and level 3 xfactor.

I suppose I should explain my choice for my primary team via each individual character. I chose this current team setup not because of the reasons said in the video and..oh the awesomely convenient fact that the team personifies who I am. I apologize in advance for the long response:

Haggar- The tank and my main on the team as I developed various resets and combos revolving around him that are basically 1HKOs; plus his Lariat is a god-send. Why I love him? Well Final Fight was the first game I played with friends, so I thank that game for giving me a start on my social life, but simply put I love wrestling. I want to be that brawny guy who turn out to be a people's champion with their heart of gold (har dee ha har) and one awesome mustache. Being the Mayor of Earth is simply Haggartastic (like Deadpooltastic, but with more pipe)!

Frank West- The truth must always be set free, even if it hurts you or the ones you may/may not know and/or love and the search leaves you alone in the end. This is basically Frank's philosophy on the job of journalism, and as a journalist as well (but not a photographer, different branch) I couldn't agree more with it. We have both proven in our lives to be pros at improvisation though in much different scenerios, use wrestling moves to fight, and like Final Fight, I like his games. But more psychological-wise his constant desire to grasp onto his fame is similar to mine. We both want our 5 minutes of fame to stay on pause and make it 50 years on the stage. In UMvC3 he's my mid/Support and primary assist used. A decent fit to my team, but his potential has yet to be peaked in my opinion.

Felicia- Have to be honest here, Felicia is the one original team member I transfered from MvC2 to this game (unless you count Haggar in place of Zangief), but the main reason I chose her then was because I didn't want my team to be a total sausage fest and cmon..she's the cutest of the bunch. But as I played her more and learned who she was throughout the years, I began to Love her! Her playful, positive, and somewhat naive/innocent attitude as well as her dream to become famous and bring joy to the world via entertainment matches mine purrfectly (sorry, had to do it). She's also the link that ties the previous two characters together; Frank seems to have this flirtatious fanboyism over her (either herself or her obtained celebrity status is uncertain), and she's BFFs with Haggar's daughter, Jessica.
Playstyle wise, she's the Ninja of my team. As a grappler fan, the long if not longest reaching throws and command grabs are a welcome addition that adds some serious reset+meta potential to my game. Her assist also helps set up some unblockables with Haggar's pipe and Frank's Lvl 2+ overhead. She's placed third because of her scary anchor potential.

So that's my current team, based around team use-ability, character loyalty, and personification. Sure the team has its flaws, I don't think I would want it any other way. ^_^

can anyone give me some tips i use trish vergil and morrigan

for they assist peekaboo judgement cut and morrigans uppercut whatever you called it. are the assist good or should i change it up a bit cause i have problems when i get my friends down with vergil i dont know what to do after that

and for my 2rd team i had to make a resident evil team 8) with nemesis jillre3^^ and chris so far i have no question for these just wanted to say my team lol

@6: I know, right? I'm holding off on doing that, but if I can't find a suitable 3rd to join Wright and Ammy, I might just try Frank.

The two huge gimmick characters working well together. Go figure. :P

In Vanilla I used Tron, Felicia, and Hsien-ko. Tron and Felicia I used in MvC2, and I love both of them as characters. They will always be my 2 characters I used in my main team. In MvC2 I had BB Hood because I thought it was awesome beating up people with a little girl that was an assassin. I choose Hsien-ko because I liked her look, and I saw her reflecting gong move as the best way to shut down spammers. This game I replaced her with trish because I love her DLC outfit, + I like how she plays.

If Roll was here though I would use her over trish since I loved playing her in TvC, and again, I like her as a character. Plus beating up big strong men as a little girl amuses me.

My character selection is broken down first by who I like as characters (in this case from the games or comics they come from) and then by how well i use them or how comfortable i am playing as them. As a result, i don't really have any top tier main or alt teams. X-23 is generally on point for me, followed by Spiderman, Jill, Hsien Ko, Dante, Dormamamu, Ammy, and Morrigan in some sort of team.

In Ultimate, i'm throwing in Hawkeye, Vergil, Frank West, PW, and Dr. Strange in that pool of characters =) Still soul searching a bit.

In short, practicality be damned, get good with the characters you enjoy and enjoy =)

Dante- one of the main reasons I picked up MvC3, and I played all the Devil May cry games

Wolverine- Ive loved X-men forever. I use to watch all the old school 90's x-men cartoon which was way rad!!

Dr. Doom- Cause I never liked the Fantastic Four and I always wanted Doom to kill all of them. haha

i switch a lot. this was my first fighting game so i originally went with characters i liked which were x23 dante deadpool. after that i went with hulk akuma deadpool just cuz i was really cheap with all of them with the hulk strong arm and tatsu spam. after that i bought a stick and tried to play serious, a friend who was good at the game told me to try wolverine cuz he was easy to pick up so i played wolvie akuma hulk. Then i did some massive training and picked up the combofiend team shehulk taskmaster spencer. eventually i learned akuma and replaced spencer with him. so at the end of vanilla i was playing she hulk taskmaster akuma. Now with the release of the new game and the massive nerf to she hulk i dropped her and picked up iron fist who is difficult to use but has some nice damage. I mainly chose this team based on my favoritism of iron fist, my enjoyment of combofiend's taskmaster and i like how he plays, and i also like the way akuma plays.

Nova's Stun move like down Back heavy is full screen & if you do it again it wall bounces Definetly the best move in the Game in my opinion. Frank West has so much range on his moves/attacks & it never seems like he's punishable. I think Ghost Rider and/or Iron Fist make a team cause they have the Best mix-up & Style.

I actually picked my team with the knowledge that my execution is crap. I played she hulk, super skrull and ryu before. But now i play frank west/nova , super skrull, ryu.

Let me explain : i have always liked playing fighting games and vs series is the best and i usually play ryu or ken in all of those. When i frist saw super skrull i thought "This is the most broken and awesome character in the world". now nova and frank well there just cool. In short i play the easy to play characters

I all always pick characters on how they play, if I like the way they play I pick them but in a game with teams I use a character I like and two that go well with him, in vanilla my many team was Trish,Storm,Wesker built the team around Trish it was a good team and work for me 80% of the time but now I'm using Vergil,Hawkeye,Wesker it seem to be a good team made it for Hawkeye but it might change and I always try every character in a fighting game to see which ones I like, in MvC2 I play Marrow,Psylocke,Dan,Ruby Heart,Omega Red in Street Fighter I play E.honda,Guila,Juri in Kof I play Ryo,Athena,Kensou,Yuri in Samurai Shodown I play Galford,Nakoruru in Darkstalkers I play J.Talbain,Lord Raptor, if you like your see a lot of this characters have nothing in common, I play characters if I like the way they play.

I use Phoenix Wright/ Nemesis/ Nova. As soon as I saw Phoenix's gameplay, I thought he seemed like a really cool and weird character and he is. He's actually harder to use than I thought but he's so fun to use. I chose Nemesis because he is just sooo fun to use and I love the way he groans during the match XD. "UUUURRRRGHH". Nova looked really fun to use in his reveal trailer and Im having a blast with him.

The most important things for me simultaneously are liking the character's overall design and how comfortable I am playing them.

Tron meets both and has done so since MvC2, so I main her in MvC3. And despite the unwarranted nerfs (not the invincible assist and infinite, I agree with those) in Ultimate, I'm making her work.

Following in that vein, Blackheart was my OG since Marvel Super Heroes, and I was even more familiar with Dormammu from the comics, so that was a natural pick. Not saying they're that close in tools, but I do love a big tall evil infernal villain.

My last pick ahs pretty much been a revolving door as I'm trying to find someone else I'm comfortable with and has synergy with the team. Right now that's looking to be Ghost Rider, whom I would not mind making official.

In vanilla:

Zero: I loved Zero in the Megaman X series. My childhood hero by far.

Wesker: I have always seen Wesker as a complete badass, so I had to choose him.

Tron: I used her a lot in Marvel 2.

The team just ended up being really good with Zero and Wesker being good/overall hated characters, and Tron with her godlike assist.

In ultimate, I dropped Tron and made a team with her on point, and replaced her with Strider(<3)who I play a lot in Marvel 1 and 2.

Well for me I play Wesker because he fits my rushdown playstyle, Deadpool because his one of my favorite marvel characters and the reason I pick up this game, and Spencer (to be honest I play him because of a video I watched). Also have a secondary team of Hsien-Ko,Ammy,Felicia just because I love those characters. Also play teams of

RR,Deadpool,Taskmaster and FW,Chris,Spencer.

(Vanilla) HULK,HAGGER= BOTH JACKED,BOTH AWESOME!

Wesker/Magneto/Sentinel = Team Vanilla A$$hole
MODOK/Rocket Raccoon/Hsien Ko = Team I dont like winning!
FireBrand/Ghost Rider/Dormammu = Team FIREHOUSE

I've had many teams but the one consistent thing is hulk he is my favorite hero and I like the way that he plays in the game I will always use him

In Vanilla it was Captain America, Wolverine and Ryu, the angry man team, I love these guys in anything they were in and they suit my personality and I also like the underdogs

I haven't yet played UMvC 3 but when I get it, I think I'll try Dormammu, Ghost Rider and Taskmaster, the skull team, they look cool and I like their move sets.

For me, a team means characters you enjoy that have good synergy. For me, that's Ghost Rider, Frank West, and Deadpool.

My main team is-

Strider/Ryu/Taskmaster

My second team is-

Phoenix Wright/Zero/Amaterasu

I just play people I like, but as long as it has Dormammu it's the best team, to me.

mega man and cyclops aren't here so im just loyal to tron.

Hulk-The best feeling I've ever had in MSH was finishing someone off with "GAMMA CRUSH" written across the screen...but only if the first part of it hit, because then it's written right in front of Hulk in the middle of a massive Gamma Charge and he says Gamma Crush right after the freeze goes away, and the rest was history...he's been my favorite Marvel character since then

Iron Fist-I like punchy characters lol

Hawkeye-This game is all about zoning, and it's Hawkeye, need I say more?

Anybody else miss when the announcer said the name of the hyper for the KO?

I have always picked my team based on how much I like the character in any fighting game, usually their personality (crazy, cool, wild or something) or how cool their supers look. In MvC (all of the marvel cross over games) I chose Marvel characters because I liked their comics or they were fun to play. I never play tier because its boring to have the same team everyone else does. I have dropped or used characters less if I do find out they are top tier for that same reason.

I would like to see more of a mix of characters I know everyone wants female characters well I want minority and its not because I just want to play as black people it because I want some diversity, I was so hoping they would put Bishop and Cable in the game because of the Messiah complex story arc (Bishop is my fav character)

As for capcom side usually games I like (like DMC) decides if I choose a character. Really wish they would make some minority characters that werent too offensive they should look at Tekken to see how to do it right lol

Captain america- bc i love him in mvc1 nd his comics

Doctor Doom- bc i hate the fantasatic 4 nd play him nd mvc2

MSH v SF Ken/Cyclops

In MvC 1 My team was War Machine/Chun Li
In MvC 2 towards the end, my team ultimately came down to using Iron Man, Cyclops/Cable and CapCom.
In MvC 3 my first team I played was Taskmaster, Amaterasu, Spencer and towards the end played Wolverine/Akuma and Spencer Or Wolverine, Iron man, Spencer, or Zero, Iron Man, Spencer since Bionic Commando for NES next to Super Dodgeball was one of my favorite games growing up in that era.
In Ultimate my team is Nova/Zero, Hawkeye/Iron Man and Spencer.
I'm still exploring other team possibilities though.
Ghost Rider, Doctor Strange/Storm and Frank West/Spencer could be my B team.

i pick characters usually based on style and personality then if i like their play style i usually stick with them
in ssf4 i picked ibuki because she's so cool being a highschool ninja and all
in mvce i picked:
-she-hulk: cuz i like her personality in the game and i got good with her
-chun-li: cuz she's chun-li why else
-tron: cuz she has a robot and she's cute being all tsundere to megaman
i got good with these characters and liked how they interacted but dropped
chun cuz of her low damage and assists
i then picked up dr. doom cuz i wanted a better assist and i watched your
assist me dr. doom

in umvc3 even though hawk eye seems to be a good character i can't stand his design and im very salty about capcom taking away she-hulk's slide kick and giving it to hawk eye

pick whoever the f**k you want, learn the team and enjoy the game. I have a friend who was a real good MVC2 player. I've watched this man this man pick apart people using top tier teams consisting of Mag/Sent/Storm/Cable/Psylocke etc...while he was using double wolverine/Sent or Gambit. Look up Joezaza...

I know this is dumb but I dont like playing evil characters. but I picked up Nemesis anyway because he hits so hard...and I needed to replace my favourite character Tron.

I'm glad you don't choose characters based on tiers, but you need to calm it with the offensive terms, buddy.

I almost WISH I chose top tiers... but it doesn't happen that way. (Unless Frank West + Doctor Strange are top-tiers---I just picked them up).
My She-Hulk took a dive for the worst when they destroyed her slide. A little more distance wouldn't have hurt! Eeesh.

in mvc2 i used spiderman because hes my fav super hero, megaman because i loved his games and how he played Jill because I like how she played, and Gambit/Jin/Cap/and morrigan, mainly mixes of those characters

Spidey has carried over to mvc3 despite a few changes, so has Cap and Morrigan... i hate how jill plays now so shes done

So i use teams with Spidey, Cap, Ryu, Nova cuz i Just thought he would be cool and i like him, Nemesis even tho i never like slow hard hitting characters i like him. Frank, morrigan, spencer... still working on IF and Hawkeye. Deadpool cuz i love him as a character, and Dante was one of the characters i wanted most along with deadpool when i first started thinking about a mvc3 way back in the day.... but alas, i cant play him :( dont have the execution skillz lol

I use Magneto cause I've always been a fan of him. He's powerful and his attitude makes me laugh when he does his evil laugh. I use Vergil now cause he's a serious Dante and requires more strategy than just sitting in the corner and sending projectiles. I like to actually fight my opponent.

Okay, In Vanilla, my FIRST team was like this.

Storm - I liked her a lot in MvC2 and after seeing her trailer how she was nearly identical to her MvC2 self, I wanted to pick her up.

She-Hulk - When I saw her trailer, or actually HEARD her theme song, I was already interested in her. After seeing her Level 3, I was just fascinated and I though immediately, I need her on my team just so I can get people with that car. Combofiend helped me greatly into sticking with her.

Tron - Same thing with Storm. Believe me it wasn't really for the assist, but that was a plus.

After a while, I saw that my Storm was really lacking so I switched onto:
Phoenix - I actually did a little experiment on seeing how she would be as a starting character. After some practices, I did really well with her. Even if she were killed my Tron and She-Hulk got the job done. What I loved the most is when I would start with either Tron or She-Hulk instead and the opponent would immediately snap Phoenix in they would endure the fury of the Regular Phoenix! Hahaha. She put a lot more synergy in the team too.

In UMvC3 I pretty much have the same team. Phoenix is still a great rush down character, even with her horrible health drop. If I get combo'd with her, I'm basically dead meat.

She-Hulk's changes, I can live with, but what I hate most is that her c.H doesn't even cover anymore ground. She's basically in the same place...why would they take away such a great rush down attack when she is a rush down character? They gave it to Hawkeye, who is obviously a zoning character. Even Frank took her slide, but thats fine he's a melee character.

Tron's changes are actually annoying me. And its not the assist, I'm actually using her Bonne Strike assist now because it comes out quicker that Gustaff Fire and will push the opponent away. I need to work on getting j.H connected with H. Bonne Strike, but what annoys me the most is that her H. Bonne Strike on the ground feels horrible. It's a lot harder to actually combo from it, but that may be because I am used to just pressing s.M s.H. S to get into it. I've seen that s.L works too, but eh. I really don't wanna drop the character so for the sake of Tron, I'mma work on it.

Then we have my new member to the team.

Phoenix Wright - I was heavily influenced from his games that I already wanted to pick him up when I saw he was a character, no matter what. After seeing his gameplay, I couldn't wait. And much like She-Hulk, his theme helped me in that department. He is a great character, with or without Turnabout, but something I wish he had better was that his assists were a lot better. His Press the Witness assist doesn't even send them "flying" like his actual move does when he uses it.

I'm looking into seeing Frank, Nemesis (because of what I've seen so far; thank you Combofiend), Zero, Nova, Rocket Raccoon, Dormammuu, Hsien-Ko, and maybe Hawkeye (Combofiend again)

People are gonna pick their best characters. And more often then not, they're characters they like. I ran into a dude online who had a team of Vergil, Dante and Wesker, all wearing black. I don't know if he's picking the team because they're all really good, or he just thought they looked cool with black trenchcoats. Probably the latter, since the team has little synergy.

My favorite character is Nemesis, simply because I'm a huge a Resident Evil fan, and he's by far my favorite RE villain. I never liked playing as Wesker because, although he's badass, in the RE games, he was the weirdo who always wore sunglasses that I just loved to hate.
