EG|Justin Wong's third column is now live here on EventHubs. This piece covers playing under pressure, and things you can do to prepare for these situations when they come up.One of the hardest things to achieve is being able to play the way you want to play under a huge amount of pressure. Some players love the pressure and some players despise it. I personally love playing under pressure. I believe that I make some of the best comebacks when I am under pressure which is how the “Wong Factor” came up. Many players have gotten some awesome comeback victories when a huge crowd is watching. We have Peter “Bionic Arm” Rosas, Daigo “Lets Go Justin” Umehara and many more.
In order to see if you can play under pressure, you can do the following things.
• Play on an online stream such as Peaceful Jay or Shoryuken.
• Travel to a local tourney and see how well you do in the tourney with actual people.
• Travel to a major (EVO, Season Beating, Canada Cup, etc)
• Try to play on a stream at a tournament (Highly Recommended)
• Do you get nervous playing against a top player? Y/N

To play under pressure is really tough. It tests the players to their limits and most of the time, new players and even experienced players crack under pressure big time. For those who can play well under pressure are great players. Strong mentality is a way to go.
i have issues with pressure especially based on the fact my heart starts sinking if some guy starts winning after he tells me he'll whoop my ass in a FT5 online and I accept the challenge
he can let people rag on him about that one comeback all he wants when he has a handful of comebacks like that one out there
I do get nervous playing against a top player, but only the first time I play him. I usually get out of character being too busy being in awe. I played Combofiend last weekend, he bodied me super free with a perfect. By the time I blinked I was dead, no hypers used, no xfactor, no nothing. lol
i feel like its worth mentioning that this can improve over time, as with anything else. I used to get nervous as hell playing in public places, tournament setting etc. ur mentality about it is something u can change tho. after recieveing several beatings my mentality now is "whats the worst that can happen? even if he bodies me i dont give a fk. ive been bodied before."
then again ive never had to play in front of a huge crowd in grand fnals or anything, and i wuld probably get the jitters if i had to.
as long as u play ur best it doesnt matter if u lose, so theres no need to feel pressure. i think dealing with pressure just comes with experience.
