The Travelling Circus did a question and answer session with Viscant about his thoughts on Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom and various other topics. There are some pretty interesting questions here. During Devastation you mentioned to me that you haven't won a game against Combofiend in almost 10 years. Why do you think despite having favorable matchups, some players give you a lot more trouble than others?
A lot of it has to do with how you think. Combofiend and I think about the game in a very similar style, he's better at it. If i'm thinking of something he's thinking of the same thing also. We look at characters in the same way. We both think about the game in the same way, he's just that much better at it. He's got the edge on me mentally and that's pretty much what it comes down to.
It seems like the gossip in the fighting game community is that during UMVC3, a lot of top players will be incorporating some sort of Vergil/Strider/Dr.Strange composition into their teams due to current testing deeming them as "top tier characters." Do you agree with this top tier assessment and do you have plans to incorporating any new characters into your own team?
It's interesting because you can't really tell. I think the best of the new characters is actually Hawkeye; he has a lot of ingredients that are a bad idea. He has a lvl1 gravity squeeze that he can do in the air, so that right there means he's anti Phoenix, and I still think that's a big part of the meta-game. Being good against Phoenix will be very important. You can't be sure about characters like Vergil, Stryder, and Dr.Strange. They look good, but you're not exactly sure what kind of game it is going to be. Dr.Strange looks good only if he can get started, which looks like it's hard to do. For Vergil and Stryder, how hard is it going to be for them to build the meter it takes for them to be dangerous? For Vergil in particular, a lot of his normals are unsafe, they're like minus 20 on block. So how are you going to fix that? You aren't going to know this until you play it out. As far as competitive teams go, I don't know what I will use until I have literally over a thousand games played. I will probably get a thousand games by one weekend; by SCR I will have over 3000 games played, so we shall see.
After the jump you can see an interview with LB|ChrisG and another very humorous one with BT|IFC Yipes.
Lastly we have Twisted jago interviewing BT|IFC Yipes done over at the FingerCramp studios.

ha, I honestly wasnt sure it was an error. I assumed my slang wasnt cool enough.
Viscant has admitted so many times that other players beat him a lot, luck of the draw at EVO I guess like he also said.
Great player though still. Wonder how he's gonna do in Ultimate. Apparently Combo's playing Nemesis, Hawkeye, Spencer so that'll be good too
I just think people got to get off the whole "I think he's Top Tier" thing and just play the game. Obviously people have their own optinion but a lot of it is based off of a couple of hours of gameplay. If I was as good as these guys I would never destroy my credibility makng such wild claims only to have it slap me in the face later.
I also think such a thing makes you a bad player. limiting your ability because you feel this character is top/low tier. If your trying to win tournaments and some cash fine, use the best but play everyone to their fullest so you can help the community extend their meta-game, thats how we get better as a whole.
Just my 2 cents.
Mad respect for Viscant for the awesome MVC3 knowledge.
LOL I'm Sexy and I know it.
Best ending ever

I myself feel that maining low tier/unpopular characters isn't "limiting your abilities" but instead a challenge to your abilities and to yourself.
Maybe your doing it to show people that this character can compete and that this character is good or maybe your doing it because you like to use characters that aren't as simple to win with as others.
Players who decide not to use the top characters have there reasons for doing so whether its because its more fun to them to do so or whether its because they enjoy the uphill challenge (I myself main Jill because of these reasons) Its just fun to us.
I for one love just LOOOVE seeing some underused team beat the teams or characters you see day in and day out. Its just soo much fun to see that stuff. Like combofiend vs DJ Hoshin (probably got his name wrong) DJ Hoshin took that using Felcia,Super Skrull and Taskmaster.
Everyone has there own reasons. Just my 2cents.
Jago is the best there is at what he does. Making you laugh without even trying, AND keeping a straight face.
"discussing his thongs on the Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3..."
