Hmm.. Still bitter about the jH nerf to Tron... but being able to special cancel after the boulder might make somewhat viable.. Someone's just gonna have to demonstrate how to get in on opponents with her now..
Wesker REALLY didn't need so many buffs, at all... I expect to see at least ONE high lvl player rocking the Wesker, Doom, Dormamu team... I have a feeling that may be of the norm in ultimate, to see at least one of those characters in the majority of teams.
Still super hyped for this game to come out, I'll still be using Doom regardless of his probable Top Tier status in umvc3 (:
No more dash canceling after foot-dive to start a combo! Yay!
tron's J.H nerf isnt that bad... just use J.M or j.S to start combos.
the worst nerf is her assist nerf. other than that she's a better character... servbot launcher, cancel from gustaff, cancel from bandit boulder, i'll take those 3 over J.H any day.
Tron can still push opponents to the corner pretty easily for those long corner combos.
I haven't seen the Gustaff Fire nerf in action, but remember that on top of the invulnerability it had a really great hitbox, too. If it still has that hitbox, it could possibly still be worthwhile?
I'd like to see Flash Metroid and PR Rog try her out before throwing her in the garbage, at least.
All those people belly-aching about Tron should try playing a character with real problems...
@4 A matter of perspective, where people seen nerfs I've seen much needed buffs that opens her up more. It was'nt exactly a solid mix up. J.H was too predictable and relied on the opponent to block incorrectly or open themselves up. Now she has more options to get in thanks to her cancels. It looks like you can J.H int Bonne Strike though but Max did'nt try it out but I bet it works.
With Hsien Ko you need to follow up Gong reflects with Senpu Bu to close the distance, gongs won't reflect beams but they will nullify them especially if you throw two out at a time. You don't need to air dash all the time. Also the nerf on air dashes works in reverse, it will now be more difficult to get in on Hsien Ko.
You guys have to remember that this game consists greatly of your assists.. i see a lot of possibilities still to the nerfd characters.. maybe not as much in vanilla but they are still usable. I've had my ass handed to me by viewtiful joe and he's not that famous of a character. Just find your way around them if you wanna use them.
@5, that's actually my BEST team in Vanilla. xD
Ah, poor Tron. I think apart from her assist, she was fine. =\ (Oh and that TK Bonne Strike infinite, which is nothing new, really.)
The toy touch nerf might hurt Felicia's game a little bit, but she got some nice buffs to make up for it.
Chris = Awesome.
Wesker, even though I use him, he really did get buffs that weren't needed; but I guess it gives him new combo's instead of your everyday bnb.
Spence, to be honest, I think he's pretty balanced. Don't fix what isn't broken.
The rest I don't care about because I know I won't be playing many of them online.
So I guess Wesker will continue to appear on 75% of teams... ugh...
Buff WESKER and Spencer but completely screw up Tron? Cancelling her gustaff fire? Big deal, she could combo off that anyway, rapid firing her little bots? That moves' hardly practical anyway.
NERFING HER OTG SO THE LAST HIT IS AFFECTED BY DAMAGE SCALING? AND YOU BUFF WESKER?!
im happy that tron is nerfed some people do that talk in the whole fight that was very spamming move and chris thank god they fix him in here and wesker still good now he can make a new combo instead of using a otg combo with assist anyway morrigan i thought theres gonna be improvements but the new its ok but for combos its useless but it can take opponents hyper meters soo its half good zero its still good and a little better than before and max forgot that he can start at the beggining with his blaster shotlv 3 before its says start! and i want to see whos next which the game comes in 4 days soo those videos gotta be quick or its gonna be useless until its released
YOU GO, FELICIA! She got everything she needed, I'm so happy.
Chris got alot more tools to cancel into everything like that for zoning pressure.
Zero players are going to have to readjust and tweak their combos to adjust to opponents going more upwards during j.H, and Self-OTG relaunches make him not so reliant on assists anymore for combos.
I hope Morrigan's increased priority on j.H and j.S are as good as they say it is, because she needs all the help she can get with no way to block even on ground dashes, and still no overhead. Faster flight canceling helps with instant overheads WAY better, and I can't wait to test out Astral Vision with dual meter-sucking Soul Fists flooding the screen like freaking TouHou!
Wesker seem to come out okay unlike the nerf bat they hit She-hulk with.
Spencer, Doom and Wesker got buffed!
Really sad to see Magneto being destroyed like in this game.
Ever since XMvSF he was among the top and his tri-dash rushdown is what he's known for.
I'll give him a try but I WON'T use him for zoning.
I NEGATE zoning in this game.
Glad to see that with the buffs to Sand Splash Felicia can end a combo with Dancing Flash without having to cancel the new Toy Touch into X-Factor. Can't wait to experiment with Air Delta Kick and Sand Splash.
Also liking the Arthur assists, somewhat invincible AA, buffed Air S for more combo potential, too bad he can't throw 3 lances like he was rumored to be able to.
Yeah after what they did to she-hulk and magneto, and even zero got some nerfs (although they are manageable) I agree with everyone about wesker. And tithe people who are going to say oh he still got nerfs max and everyone who played him in ultimate didn't even notice the nerfs...
Use Air Bonne Strike H to combo after j.H. It's even safe on block. Problem solved.
The rapid firing of the serve bots looks petty good. The look like they could really keep someone down.
@38 Wesker died for good in Resident Evil 5.
If anything, they nerfed Tron because they canceled MML3 with your logic.
@37
Zero nerfs were necessary, really, and as a Zero user, the things they nerfed weren't all that important. Shippuga loops were easy, and only helped to build meter, honestly.
D-Loop taken out is kinda "Eh" because it forces Zero players to think up new options because of the ONE buff that counte the most. Lv.3 Zero Buster cancel property opens up SO many things for him, and he's a much character overall because of it.
LMAO You think Morrigan buffs are a joke and Hsien-Ko is not supposed to be in this game?
The Darkstalkers in this game are highly underrated mostly because they are VERY execution-heavy and you guys stick to your braindead Wolverine/Weskers/Dantes to get spoonfed damage.
Then you guys cry foul when you get raped by a Darkstalker. LOL Cry more, Team Darkstalkers is actually more possible in Ultimate than ever before.
@45
Seems like somebody had a bad experience with wesker dante wolverine. If your running bottom or semi bottom tier characters like lei lei over people like Dante, your asking for trouble. I fought a guy who had like 2000bp with hakan, I was fei, and he called me a tier whore. Does he have the right to? I'd say no. Seeing if you know your tiers well enough to call me a tier whore. You should know better than to pick hakan.
I still like Tron. I don't think they were that bad for nerfs. Her assist is gone which sucks, but her j.H can be replaced with a strategically done j.M/j.S (which don't have egregiously large hitboxes, but aren't difficult to hit someone in my experience).
Still wish Hsien-Ko was taken care of a little more, definitely didn't get as much as she needed (I mean, if Wesky can get a speed + damage buff for getting hit/one super bar, why can't she?) Hopefully she'll get a patch.
Morrigan's damage output should be better with Soul Fist doing more damage, I just need to find more Soul Fist-heavy combos. That flight-cancel-soul-fist-flight-cancel stuff isn't easy to perform to get the same damage as, say, Wesker, but it's a hell of a lot more satisfying.
And hey, I WISH I found Wesker and higher tier folks interesting, but I don't. Would be much easier for me to win battles, but unfortunately, they just don't suit my style. All I ask is some tweaking. It's not micromanagement. In any case, I'm exciting for the game will avoid pitting my Hsien-Ko (armorless) against Wesker like the plague.
Also Chris looks MUCH better.
@45,
Sadly... Most tech from a bunch of characters will never see the light of day from Vanilla MvC3. (I'm really interested to know what broken thing Jill had about her.) I feel like most of the "Top Tier" characters are just ones that we figured out how to use the first few days. Not enough time went into finding other things. I think I remember Seth also mentioning how we weren't able to crack open Iron Man too.
Just keep letting these fools get spoonfed tips and tricks other than finding them out themselves. I already know (or have a REAL good feeling) why Dormammu's c.Light got nerfed, some people see it irrelevant, but I know what tricks it held. I also learned a few tricks with Taskmaster that I never came across on the interwebs. It's a humbling feeling finding your own tech. Just let these guys think what they want. They don't know what we know.
I'm more interested in Spencer, Arthur and Chris than any one at the moment. Their play-styles are so much more fun IMO. I do play Wesker occasionally. He is a really good character and fun at the same time.
I'm really don't care about Morrigan, Felicia, Or Hsien-ko. Darkstalkers is one of my favorite capcom games outside of the Street fighter series. I Will reserve more time with them when they release another Darkstalkers game (I think it will happen) The only other Capcom Character that interests me is Trish.

Like you statement. Look what Nazty has done with Skrull. He really played him well up in Norcal at that small tournament with UMVC3. I think every character has potential if you put the time in. As it stands everyone wants to win easier so they go to characters that aren't execution heavy.
I Knew Spencer, Skrull, Chris, and Dromammu had potential and I think they are solid characters IMO.
#48 & #50
You two are right about players mostly using easy execution characters, honestly I'm not really good (maybe intermediate) but since the first day of vanilla MvC3 I heavily studied the abilities of Skrull, Zero & Spider Man and it was a real challenge to use them effectively and win matches. (I also use them because their my favorite characters) It took time for me to learn effective assist combos but when compared to easy execution characters, they seem to pale in comparison. From learning to properly predict my opponents movement to land an elastic slam, to attempting stranges mix-ups using Zero's Sougenmu and L hienkyaku, its fun and challenging which I like but it takes vast amounts of execution and planning which is not worth it sometimes when compared to Wolverine or Wesker.
Sorry for rambling about my own opinions but thats what I think at least.
Yay for Tron nerfs. Shes still useful but not spammable anymore. Loven my new Wesker already.
@46 From what I'm getting from your post your pretty much saying play high tier characters to win. Which I have to disagree with. Yes the hakan player didn't have the right to call you a tier whore but that doesn't mean that others should play high tier characters just to win. If anything play the character that you like no matter where they place at. Which leaves me with this final questions. Would you still play fei and/or dante,wesker,akuma if they were low tier?
In my honest opinion Hisen-ko seems better in UMVC3 as far as combos. She can jump cancel now and the fact her forward h is good now. I even bet no one knew that ner jumping M and jumping S has crossup potential. I been using Deadpool/Hisen-ko/Zero since day 1 and i had some sucess but in ultimate i'm using Zero/Hisenko but not sure on my 3rd yet.
Chris looks so good in Ultimate now. I might just have to pick him back up.
Interesting note about Wesker that performing that Level 1 Super/ hyper removes his shades and gives him the full buff. I thought for sure Seth said that doing any of his hypers/ supers would reset it to be like he still had his shades.
