Of course. Fighting game fans don't read comics. If they did, Phoenix never would have made it to MVC3 in the first place because shes probably considered the strongest being in the Marvel Universe.
What kind of a Marvel fan would put Phoenix, a marvel character that can incinerate the universe if she wanted too, in a game that has D-Class Marvel heroes. No Marvel fan, that's who.
They should have characters like Daredevil, Havoc, Bishop, Cable, Iceman in this. Not an Omega class being like Phoenix. Some omega's are fine, like Hulk and Magneto and Thor because in the least, they can eventually wear out or they have some type of weakness.

Actually when you say Omega class I assume you're referring to the Mutant power classing system. Omega classes only refer to mutants (from the Xmen series ofcourse) and Iceman is an omega, it pretty much means, the strongest in the world AT THAT SKILL. So there are millions of other Telekinesis users in the multiverse, but Jean Grey is the strongest of them all.
Just like Magneto with magnetism and Iceman with cryomancy (being so powerful as to freeze air in peoples lungs to kill them for example)
But Hulk and Thor aren't omega classed mutants, one is a mutate, the other is a god.
All of these characters you want. Are in the game...in CARD MODE!

I am referring to the Mutant power classing system and yes, I did realize I put Thor and Hulk in the list of omega's.
But over the years I started just adding other characters to the omega list, those that are of even strength or greater than Omega class mutants.
It just a way I use to compare non mutant powerhouses to the mutant power houses.
And I do know Iceman is omega so nice try trying to one up me on that. Why do you think I mentioned Iceman in a post talking about omega class mutants? lol. And Cable is omega class also and your didn't point that out. Missed that one didn't you.

@36, 43, 47: All irrelevant because storyline power does not and should not have an impact on game balance. Magneto is good in these games because of the tools they give him, which mostly don't even fit his comic-self. When was the last time Magneto lead the Brotherhood into battle by tri-dashing and comboing the X-Men? The characters are just graphical skins; it's their mechanical combinations and options that give them strength.
Also, Jean Grey/Phoenix was right alongside Thor and Ghost Rider in the olden days, in terms of requests. Tunnel vision memory, whoo!

I've had this discussion with several people before I don't want to have it again because no party ever leaves the victor. But here goes.
Hes omega in my book. And here's why. One of the required elements to be considered to be a omega class mutant is "extreme manipulation of matter and energy".
Some people have said that his manipulation of magnetism is not strong enough to fall under this category, but, in recent years Magneto has shown time and again his potential to control magnetism is far greater than what is usually shown. (Let me look back a in my comic collection)
In Utopia when Magneto focuses his powers, attempting to divert the interstellar path of the metal bullet Kitty is trapped in and bring her home to Earth. He successfully returns the world killer bullet from interstellar space with his dominance over one of the four forces of the universe, control over magnetism. If that isn't omega class energy manipulation then I haven't see it anywhere else yet.

Besides fighting game sites, I spend a lot of time on Comic forums, especially Marvel stuff.
It always annoys me how much both communities are ignorant to the other. The Capcom side always thinks the entire Marvel universe begins and ends with 90's cartoons. The Marvel side thinks the entirety of Capcom is Street Fighter 2.
I'm kind of glad this game segregated both companies to dealing with their own fans. It gave us some variety. Otherwise the cast pretty much would have been all the same people as MvC2 and we'd never get people like Dormammu, Raccoon, Ammy, ect.

LUKE CAGE - he could be like the premier boxer in the game I.e. barolog or steve from tekken. I know he's not a boxer but he does fight using mostly his hands (street fighting) give him some unique moves too, to make him stand out like his "cage" belt/chain") weapon and maybe a few martial arts attacks that iron fist trainned/taught him. He also could have body slams and environmental attacks where he could punch/pound and/or stomp the ground to hit you like jax from mk or like his ultimate alliance incarnation. Give him super armor, super (tank) strength I.e. hulk, thor, haggar, nems, etc., medium (NOT SLOW) seed and durable.

Nova represents cosmic characters and stories of Marvel U and he is the most popular character in that area, which Marvel wishes to promote and is becoming more popular.

And desert eagle.

I'm a fighting game fan and a fan of Marvel on the big screen, when I see a character in MvC3 I get interested and look it up, then I tell my friends and some of them actually get into the comics.
I think, as a gamer: Captain Marvel, Sandman, Black Widow, Doctor Octopus could be good picks, they all work with unique styles of fighting and attributes

This is the truest statement I have seen in a while. Capcom fans only want nostalgic characters that were in MVC1 or MVC2 where as Marvel Comics fans could give a care less about some of those characters seeing as they are no longer relevant in todays mainstream comics.

BLACK panther - give him a never before seen fighting style that incorporates both science and sorcery to match his "fighting styles that belong to no known disciplines" mixed in with some african martial arts, acrobatics, the ebony sword, vibraium claw attacks, a collection of magical artifacts, and an energy dagger. Etc.
Focusing strictly on Marvel DLC requests, I would ask for Silver Surfer and Sue Storm, the Invincible Woman. I know they said they couldn't work out Surfer's board, but come on, She Hulk can grab a car and a light-pole out of nowhere, and don't get me started on Invisible Woman. I mean , we can expect to fight jacked up, invisible opponents in Heroes & Heralds mode, but figuring her moves out would be too tough? I think not. Anyways, I'm just looking forward to see how the new characters play for now.
@ 138 I would say I'm a bigger fan of Marvel than Capcom and I would rather have some of the mvc2 characters. Not because they were in that game, because they are awesome characters a good portion of us grew up with i.e Psylocke, Gambit, Iceman, Juggs, Venom, Cable, Omega Red, I could go on. Half that list is still relevant.
Anyhow if I had to pick 5 characters to make it I would go with Nightcrawler (Age of Apocalypse version, dude isnt afraid to wax someone and is still relevant) Fantomex, Gambit, and so pysknife/forcecoverage doesnt b!tch Psylocke and Domino (though I would of chose them anyways:) If we need a villian Apocalypse, dude is godlike!

Good thing the general public doesn't have much of a say for the roster. Because every Marvel game would consist of Wolverine, Cyclops, Storm, Psylocke, Iceman, Rogue, Gambit, Cable, Nightcrawler, Magneto, Juggernaut, Sabretooth, Deadpool, Spider-man, Venom, Carnage, Cap, Iron Man, Hulk, Thor, Blade, Punisher, Doom, and the F4.
It would just be the same roster over and over and over if these people always had their way. We'd barely get any new faces and classics like Hawkeye, Strange, and Iron Fist never would have gotten a chance.
I would like to see more females join the roster. I would personally like to see Gamora (The Deadliest Woman in The Universe). She's my number one choice.

Ms marvel because she is a fan favourite in all the lists and threads.Because they add no female or any minority. Come on Iron Fist is a White Bruce lee rip off for god sake. Pixie is the most popular newly created X-men next too X23 (Genderbender wolverine to get more teenage emoboys buying New X-men) She been on the X-men A rooster for years now , has had her on mini series and she is from Wales (uk). Would be nice too have some European character of us Europeans since we do play Marvel here and maybe they increase there sales here.
Rachel Summers (phoenix/Marvel Girl) clones are to fill a slot with lower production time and cost. But in this cause it makes extra sense Clockwork,F.champ and even Seth killian have stated that find phoenix too be a great character without dark phoenix and would love to play her solo. But do to the low health she is never a front/first character.

@170 Daredevil would be a waste,he would basically be Iron Fist with a baton.Gambit can do what Daredevil can and then some.
PROFESSOR X - he could be another WTF character I.e. modok, amaterasu, phoenix wright & rocket RACCOON. Best used for troll purposes and should be overpowered offensively but made of paper defensively like dark phoenix making him a high risk character to use. I think capcom could make him extremely unique.
If any Girls get in they better have a good moveset, and be in not ONLY BECAUSE THEY ARE GIRLS! With that said, Black Cat(or Domino) could be an interesting choice if she could cause her opponent (after a while) to fail to hit her (Bad luck powers) Maybe Energizer, Cloak and Dagger, Dusk.
AntiVenom and Gambit MUST HAVE
Green Goblin, Current Punisher (Dudes a BEAST. Cap Shield,Goblin Glider, BATTLE VAN?) Speedball or Quicksilver, ANY OF THE CLASSIC SINISTER 6 (each and EVERY one of them could have interesting movesets.)

@36 Phoenix would not be the only one taken out if they were not allow use anyone above D-class, you would have to take out Dormammu, Nova, Doctor Strange and Shuma-Gorath (Thor is if you made him = to the comic book) because these character are at cosmic levels (capably of destroying earths)
(about Phoenix) She is one of the strongest, but not the strongest character in Marvel. Here is what I would consider the top (might be a little out of order) TOAA > PR Beyonder > (heart of the universe) Thanos > LT > Eternity/Death > Phoenix Force

Marvel does not care what the fighting game fans want.. they only wanna boost sales they think they can push through the game... its not like fighting game fans get to pick what marvel movies come out. let the fighters pick the characters and let the comic fans decide the comics. i tried calling marvel and capcom and both companies avoid fessing up to the character selection. if they cared we would have captain commando back. they should let us fund the characters ourselves.. have a pot to contribute into for thecharacters we want.
@173 don't be silly, my friend. Gambit does nothing better than daredevil and daredevil would be nothing like iron fist if done right. Daredevil has better mobility than iron fist and his baton can act as multi purpose weapon I.e. long ranged attacks, close ranged attacks, projectile ability, etc. He's already different then iron fist jus off those 2 things alone (1. Better mobility, 2. Weapon based attacks)

Gambit would be my #1. I want Psylocke but the chances of them adding two more X-men characters aren't very good.

These Marvel honchos want to see some diversity in characters requests, characters that are in the here-and now, and/or have untapped potential. Also--and I don't know how big of a factor this is--I can see why they would prefer to use characters that aren't in the spider-man or x-men fold seeing as how they don't own the movie rights to either of those franchises.
Conversely, Capcom developers want characters that have a unique style, characters that will likely have something new to bring to the fold, something that adds as a whole to the overall feel of the game.
How bout: Drax the Destroyer, new-school Agent Venom, Skaar, Multiple Man, Blink, Baron Zemo, Pixie, Ghost, Anole, Fantomex, Psylocke, Archangel, Absorbing Man, Black Panther, Namor, Emma Frost, Ultron, Annihilus; Carnage has recently returned after an extended time out of the spotlight. I'd love to see Gambit or Blade(though neither character can sustain his own comic); Daken (though with both Wolverine and X-23 in the game already, his chances are slim to none); somebody mentioned Penance, who I agree would bring a truly unique play style to the game, though given his character will never be revisited in Marvel comics again, his inclusion has even worse odds than Daken.

I dont even read comics any more and I have a superior understanding of how pheonix force works and how pheonix avatars work. Jean greys dark pheonix avatar would be destroyed by characters in mvc3 alone. If magento and destroy her in 1000 pieces then there's characters that would demolish her in marvel universe. Cable has never "whooped his ass" without some extenuating circumstance in his favor: a time vortex in X-Cutioner's Song, juiced up Apoc in Messiah War and X-man saving his ass in Blood Brothers.
His losses are no less than Magneto or Apocalypse and he would be a welcome addition to this game.
