In a brief report by SiliconEra, they noted that the PlayStation Vita release of Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 will support attacking by tapping the screen. No other details were offered on how the touch sceen(s) would be implemented, though.To give a little background, West is a freelance photojournalist who cut his teeth covering wars. Always cool under pressure, he sees the zombirific events of Dead Rising as an opportunity to boost his career. Insensitive? Perhaps. Still, he rescues the occasional survivor when he can spare the time, so you can’t help but love the guy a little bit. Also he looks great in a banana hammock.
He was even named the Third Manliest Man in Gaming by ScrewAttack.
Dead Rising 2 saw a new, more serious protagonist in motocross champ Chuck Greene, but Frank was back for more fun in DR2’s expansion episode, Case West, which had Frank working together with Chuck. You could even play the episode in co-op, with both Chuck and Frank as playable characters.
Tip from Rafael2487, Alex_MMorales and neoWhite.
neoWhite's covered wars?!?!?!
Damn Catalyst why won't you give him credit for the tip?!?!?!?
Why would we need on a backstory on a character who was "popular" enough to get in over MEGA-MAN!
Frank West is my favorite Capcom character, so glad he's in the game. I highly recommend Dead Rising 2 (or Off the Record) to anyone, only reason I don't recommend the first one is, it's pretty outdated, but DR2 fixes everything wrong with Dead Rising and makes it a very fun experience.
Only thing I don't like about Frank West in UMarvel is that he has Chuck Greene's moveset (minus the camera attributes) if he was ever in a fighting game. Chuck is a cool character in his own rights, but I love Frank West. He's covered my heart,ya know.
@6
Not every Marvel Vs. Capcom fan plays Capcom games. Alot of people are also Marvel fans. Didn't you need some back story when Rocket Raccoon was first announced, didn't you look up Shuma-Gorath after years of wondering what the hell he was back in the old Marvel games?
Don't be so biased.
@ 7&8
Well...that's one BIASED fans "opinion".
FYI I know what biased is because that's what Capcom is when it comes to putting in "certain" characters favored by the staff who are pretty garbage in the game. That do nothing for future products.
OMG there is a little something called YOUTUBE!!! Geezus i can find out about any character there. nobody READS about a character anymore(im joking guys).
-Replace Jill with Chuck Greene form Dead Rising. 3 RE characters and 1 DR
-Replace Lei Lei with Vanessa D Schnieder (PN03)
-Vanessa is from a lesser known game. She dances and shoots bad guys with her power suit. She would be able to gracefully get around proj. And use her whip to tame foes.
2 DS and 1 PN
-Replace Akuma with SHIN Akuma (because that's basically what he is in MvC3) Thus not whoring regular Akuma in every game like they are now.
@14 Yeah.... No.
As someone who low-tier wh*res, I wanna keep my Hsein-ko and my Jill.
@14 wtf dude. stick to the megaman cries your better at that.
Im not 'crying' for Mega-Man... u Troll
Im just trying to figure out how to figure out how Frank, Lei Lei or Trish is more important than Mega-Man.
He's covered wars?
He's also started flame wars.
Is that something else for you Derp West fans to jizz your pants about?
He's only "awesome" because he's like an internet meme.
Popular (for no reason) on principle, just like Chuck Norris jokes.
You know it to be true, he's from a hack/slash game where you use anything you can find in a mall to kill zombies. Mediocre (AT BEST) but, because he's "Frank muthaf!cking West" and "He's covered wars, ya know." he's "awesome".
I can respect him as a character, but I despise his fanbase.
@19 It's not about who is more important but rather who can bring something new to the table. Frank, Lei Lei and Trish are all unique characters regardless of tier differeces. They offer new ways to play the game.
One of the biggest problems with Vanilla MvC3 is you had these characters like Magneto who is super good then they put in Storm or Thor and they just end up as a bootleg version of Magneto, in the end Magneto will be picked oer them.
I would rather they take their time with Mega Man so he becomes more different and interesting to use instead of being a bootleg Zero with no sword.
Im looking at you Vergil.
@20
"I respect his character but I hate his character."
ok.
@ 22
Well Said,
I cant believe that they made Sent and Mags really top class AGAIN. I mean if everyone is good that's one thing it's just that they gave them TOO MANY advantages that HAD to be on purpose.
How come NOVA and Iron-Man cant cancel a normal into flight like Magneto?
How come Hulk cant do chip on his normals (knowing how slow he is) like he could in MvC2? Yet they gave Sent's instant full screen beam that ability? And the ability to bounce with normals and have more armor than anyone and a instant INVINCIBLE air hyper and...
@20 not everybody likes him for those reasons. A lot like him for what he is: a kinda dick-ish, not-too-bright photojournalist.
Though fanbases do ruin everything.
@20 Why? Why even care what other people think. You seem to think you got the fans all figured out. Maybe the fans like Frank West because they are FANS!! Last time I checked thats what fans are. People like him because they like the game, because they enjoyed the game. I see nothing wrong with that. You just need to stop focusing on what other people think and feel about something.
@22
Yeah, honestly Virgil is the only character I'm upset about in the UMarvel new comers. Just Dante with no guns.
@20
I like frank because I like dead rising
It is one of my favorite games ever made just because of it's unique feel.
I like frank est because there is more to the man then people are looking at. He starts out as a man obsessed with glory but gradually starts to mentally unravel and starts ripping zombies intestines out while wearing woman clothing and killing all the survivors in the mall. At least that's how I played the game.
Also you kind of bond with frank when you go for 7 day survivor achievement it's kind of boring but good old frank is there to keep you company drinking orange juice while baracaded in a sword store
I've seen what Frank West is capable of. It's going to be fun though it'd be good if someone can be able to reach Lv.5 with Frank West in an online match. That would be interesting.
I actually really want Capcom to throw a Robot Master in the game, but not Megaman just to see how much wrist cutting the people who constantly complain about Megaman will do. I'm thinking a Robot Master along the lines of Sheepman, Clownman, Brightman, or Aquaman.
@30
Thank you. I'd personally love Sheepman over Megaman.
@#20
True, Frank is a stupid character. Guess the game was fun. And Chuck Norris jokes got real out of hand for a while, for no reason. They just never stopped. I wonder what the real Chuck Norris thought about those jokes.
@#26
True, people can like stupid things for no reason. Just like I love rocket raccoon. A raccoon with guns. Love it. I was hoping they would make him great just to spite the haters. And they did. Commence orgasm.
@#29
In a legit battle, I can see Frank getting to lvl 3, possibly mustering a lvl 4 if he's lucky. Your only gonna get a lvl 5 if the person your fighting either really sucks, or your exceptionally skilled and lucky with Frank, considering the only way to get there before their whole team dies is if you can pull off drinking without being punished and get a big combo. I highly doubt he will be in major events unless Capcom either buffs him, or someone comes out with some magic to get him to level 4 in one combo or somethin like that. This is just me guessing. The game aint out yet so im sure I can be proven wrong. Either way, fans will still play him, and he aint gonna be garbage.
So much ignorance on these comments SMH.
First of all, Frank is a great character not because of the covering wars line (which is a great line mind you, just ruined by internet like everything else) but because of his great personality. No one who has played DR1 can possibly say the DR franchise would've been the same without him. The games would've been fun but Frank is the soul of DR. Yeah, he's not your typical "cool" or "badass" hero, he's just an "average guy", but that's precisely what makes him such an unique and likable character, and that's what Inafune wanted to accomplish with his design.
Also, Dead Rising 1 may be a bit outdated graphically, but it's still a great and unique game. If you can get past the awkward save system and controls, it's a very enjoyable and fun game. If you haven't played it, you're missing out IMO.
So, for all those Frank West haters out there, I say just go and play DR1. If you still not like him as a character, at least you'll (hopefully) understand why he's so popular among other gamers.
I'll say it once:
Sigma should've been in this game instead of Zero for the sake of having more Capcom villains. I do like Zero but Sigma would've been badass.
"Prepare to become space dust!"
I never played the game, but it does look good. Honestly, I'd have rather put in Chuck than Frank. But meh.. -Shrugs-
