What? Canada Cup is gonna charge for watching a stream? Like SBO?
This is not just the exhibition matches, it's the first time where you have two audio tracks one being the commentators and the second being the players. On top of that you get to see the crowds reactions everything that's going down, all of that in high definition of course.
They put a lot of work into these videos and are they're really well done.
What's wrong with charging for this? Clearly a lot of work goes into the creation, selection and editing of such content, and its real people putting in their time and doing all this work. So why shouldn't they get paid for it? If you don't want to pay then don't pay, that's fine. That does not mean that they shouldn't be putting it out for sale.
Pay me 10 bux instead, ill guide you through the best 150 exhibition matches on youtube. kthxbye. Can't believe they're starting to make money out of us now. I thought it was for the community and all? Now it's getting serious! Money gets involved. No love.
@7
Strangely enough, equipment and travelling actually costs money.
i love CC dont get me wrong. I just dont give a hoot what the players are saying its prob a bunch of trash talking anyways and theres enough of that on here for a lifetime. I also agree with #7 its supposed to be for the community...not making $. They have a job which most of us would LOVE. payed to play VG's...travel all over. I watched the stream anyways...so I know what happens ;)
Funny to see all the disgruntled and misguided people who seem to have a huge sense of entitlement. Doing stuff for the community is different from charity. I'm sure they have done more to grow this community than anyone who is bashing on this.
Link was removed.
It basically showed that Capcom wants to charge more money than usual for a 'Evil' 3DS game...the article had a lame reason as to why.
shoutouts to Noel Browns Kelly Kapowski T-shirt.....and this looked hype for sure
Bought, love the input these guiys are doing and i support CrossCounter.
Love crosscounter tv and crouss counter live
Cheers Crosscounter
If gootecks and Mike Ross ever needs $10 from me all they need to do is asks, however they can keep this video I seen the stream...
according to spooky it's being split between cross counter, sb staff? and himself
@2 there is a free stream ya whiner. Get a job. Most people pay $8 a day for a pack of ciggys everyday. An hour and a half movie these days is $10. And you're gonna complain about a full premium stream of a full weekend event...
I swear some people in this community need a freakin' reality check.
@33
If you mean whoever made post 33 then no it's not. He's some troll that's been posting the same moronic conspiracy theory here all day, and has gotten banned a few times for it.
@7: Wow you guys are terrible lol. Theyve been giving us free stream content for days..months..yearsss, now they give us 4 + hours of footage in HD quality of one of the best Exhibition matches ever for only 10 bucks? They could have asked us to just donate 10 bucks, but instead they give us something for it. That + Interviews, double audio/couching audio/smacktalk = gold
Stop being greedy yo.
i would pay if i haven't watch those matches. too bad, i already watch them. Next time, don't stream and just sell it or sell the dvd.
I bought it. I missed this when it streamed and I'm all for supporting the CC/TS guys, considering how much free entertainment I get from their videos. I'm watching the USA vs World and unfortunately Yipes pretty much single-handedly ruins the alternate "commentary" (I use that term loosely) track. That guy is completely obnoxious and not funny at all.
Some of you people are the cheapest people..."omg so many things to pay for nowadays." It's a high-quality products with extra audio and crowd interaction and makes it easier to hear the players themselves. It's not for everyone, but $10 is nothing.
E-sports is growing, and the FGC will hopefully be more of a dominant force in that arena. I'm sorry to say that many of you will apparently be left in the dust, because it appears most of you can't pay miniscule amounts of money, and things are only going to get more expensive over time. Better get used to it.
As far as Cross Counter getting money from Complexity through the sponsorship, that just started a couple months ago. They have been producing great material and traveling to tourneys for a while now. Complexity recognized their talents and ability to draw views and sponsored them for it. That's how people are successful in the real world, taking pride in their work. They deserve every bit of support they receive imo since the money they receive is proportional to the increase in quality of their output.
@41 You are the first person i've heard have that opinion about Yipes, lol. That's cool though. Considering how many quotables in the Marvel vernacular originated from his commentary, it's hard to knock on him. I like his style. I also like Ultradavid and James Chen together for a more mellow but informative commentary, for Street Fighter at least. Only one that kinda bores me a bit is skisonic or whatever.
@42 Yeah, I don't really get it, though he's not really commentating in these videos. He's just sitting behind the guys who are playing yelling "F--- that bitch!!" over and over again. It only lasts for a handful of rounds, and mostly only when the "World" players are playing female characters. I know he is a big part of the culture of the fighting game community, but I honestly feel that this kind of crap makes the community look bad and if Gootecks and co. want to keep spreading their brand on a professional level, they would be wise to keep clowns like this out of it.
@44 I see. He holds back a bit when he is actually commentating, but I guess that's what happens when someone gets an unfiltered look into what's said behind the scenes. It's really no different in regular sports. You see players and coaches say things all the time, but there aren't player mics equipped to hear it lol.
It's a good point you make though. I would only say the one thing in their favor is that something like this type of video is less geared toward generating interest from the general public that may want to watch (like excellent adventures, a tutorial, or cross counter), and more toward just the hardcore stream monsters that already know how things are behind the scenes and would be less likely to care about professionalism. A "for the players by the players" if you will.
I didnt catch the stream, so i bought this for 8 bucks. Good value imo 4 hours of footage is nice. I could think of other ways to waste 8 bucks. Seriously 8 bucks is a 10 piece nugget meal at mcdonalds. I think some of you guys are making way to big of a deal about this. It was 8 bucks with the eh code. I dont think 25% of 10 is 2 bucks.
@46 That's a good point, too. I'm a big hockey fan and I've always wished I could get an unfiltered feed where the players are mic'ed up. I can appreciate that this thing exists, and I can't complain too much since I can allegedly switch to the main commentary track (though I haven't been able to figure out how to do so).
And I'm impressed that these guys can concentrate as well as they do with Yipes yelling nonsense in their ears.
Crappy 90 mins dvd are $20 so what the hell is wrong with $10 for 4 hours of footage + features that we rarely get (raw player's reaction/commentary)?
If you're happy with the youtube version then don't pay the $10, and if you want a better experience then pay $10. Most adults now a days make at least $10 an hour. Some of you acting like they are charging $1000.
NBA, NFL, MLB, NHL, MLS, EPL,etc... all charge much more for their uncut raw game tapes. Hell most normal people can't even get a hold of them.
This is great stuff at a low price people. Since when is $10 for a completely optional video of what some of you claim you "Already saw" by watching a stream in low res.
If you like it buy it, if you don't try not to b*tch so hard if you want to find some sort of high and mighty reason for why you can't afford to buy this DVD just because your lazy.
Mike and Gootecks deserve any amount of funding they can get - they aren't exactly rolling cash just because they are sponsored and get donations here and there. (And these are the guys who've released tons and tons of free original content so far without charging, not to mention free downloadable torrent files as alternatives to buying their DVD tutorials).
I don't see anyone else trying to provide this level of quality programming anyways, so kudos to them.
Ultimately this is like buying the special /collector's edition of a game, in a way. If you're content watching replays on youtube go ahead, and if not then there's no harm in them releasing a bonus for all the fans out there who want a video of an inside look at Season's Beatings Exhibition matches.
typo: "by watching a stream in low res**, a "rip off?**"
ya...i can think of like 20 diffrent things I can use $10 for...why charge? rather silly
