Ono trolls/hints at something more for Super Street Fighter 4 AE? Sven on PC DRM

Capcom's Yoshinori Ono might be getting back into form a little ways before E3, as he's started leaving ambiguous messages again on his Twitter account that can be taken a few different ways, in regards to the character select screen for Super Street Fighter 4 Arcade Edition.

Capcom USA vice president, Christian Svensson, also followed up on the PC release DRM concerns that have been a hot button as of late.

Are there any remaining characters for Super Street Fighter 4 Arcade Edition on consoles & arcades? Like two for the remaining missing slots? — GeekSquadPAllen

Is it really not possible to differentiate between offline players that haven't registered a key and offline users that have? Obviously, if they have a key they bought the game and only need the online features locked away in offline mode, and people that haven't entered a valid key can be written off as pirates and need to have their game demo-fied. — McJon

Svensson: The answer is no. At least not no securely/indefinitely. One of the first rules of security is that you can't ever trust the client. What you have is the all in one flag for "secure/unsecure" on the client. Hackers just need to figure out how to trip the "secure flag" to have full access.

The whole point of a network connection requirement is to have the validation not reside on the client side.

Svensson also responded to let the community know they're still being heard on the DRM issue for SSF4 AE PC on this page.

Svensson: Still reading all posts... threads been a bit all over the place but there's still lots of constructive dialog.

I've called a meeting on Wednesday to discuss with folks internally. This thread will be referenced extensively as we talk about options.

I can definitely see at least one more fighter being added. The bottom right slot looks like the timer will overlap the image so I doubt that will get filled.

nah i dont think Charlie would be in. we already have Guile. now before you say "well we have like 50 shotos." each shoto in SSF4 plays differently though. with Charlie and Guile you have the same basic character with different looks and moves (Charlie one handed Sonic Boom)(two hit FK). im not gonna argue though as i dont know the characters either, so maybe your who knows. im just stating what i think. maybe Karin and Rolento/Hugo/or Arex (thats right i said Arex as in RX lol).

If they are adding 2 extra characters it would make sense if it were Alex and Hugo. Alex is the main characters of SF3 and Hugo is his rival. And Hugo is also standing in the background in SSF4.

I think I might get it: When they hacked the Arcade machines and only found data for Oni and Evil Ryu, everyone assumed that it must just be those two (plus the twins) that were new for AE. But I'm going to say that they had a console release planned long before anyone knew about it and so maybe they planned to release a further one or two characters on the consoles once it had cone out for that hence the missing slots and the lack of code/data on the arcade machines. It's a possibility anyway.

That's not true. Daigo said he's always liked Yun as a character and the only reason he didn't use him in 3S is because he wasn't really into 3S, so he didn't bother to put in the time to learn him.
