Svensson made a new blog post running through some of the more intricate details concerning the PC release of Super Street Fighter 4 Arcade Edition, including how they'll deal with lower frame rates and online play.As with SFIV, there’s a benchmark that should be used by players to adjust settings to a level where they can consistently hit 60 fps. What’s new though, is that the benchmark results will be used as one of the online matching criteria. That is to say, it will try to match players with good framerates with other players with good framerates, all other criteria being equal (and conversely it should match folks who don’t have proper settings or hardware with other folks who similarly haven’t made that point a priority). This should help to keep experiences consistent assuming enough people are in the matching pool at any particular moment.
The second part of the solution comes in the form of a new options setting that will allow players to choose “smooth” framerate, “variable” framerate or “fixed” framerate. Smooth will attempt to playback all frames but potentially at the expense of a consistent or high framerate. This is similar to how SFIV handled it. Fixed will drop frames to keep the gameplay speed and inputs consistent. Variable is a hybrid of the two modes that will sometimes drop frames where absolutely necessary to maintain the gameplay.
I might get it for PC but not sure if I want to buy the same game twice as I will be getting it for PS3. But man my PC will rock this game going by the recommended specs they put up.
Is this the kind of boring crap I can look forward to until launch? SfxT and PC talk? Way to hype the game. While we're at it, here's some shadow mode dlc... Lol, I'm going to jump off of a bridge.
I really wish they'd have done one more character to reveal this month and totally Hype the Sh!t out of the month leading up to launch.
Sure, but how about a port of SSF THE MOVIE AE ?

what do you mean by frame skipping? like if someone has a slow computer, he just loses the animation frames in between but the gameplay between the two opponents stays at a fixed fps?
cause if thats what you mean, i totally agree with you. i hated all those green bar opponents who had good connections, but still had trash computers running at low fps
#13: Deserve? Who said we, PC players, deserve a game?
First, it is all about marketing. Capcom marketing decision not yours.
Second, what make you think you deserve that game in the first place in whatever console you are using? Someone may consider console players as dumb persons because they only know how to play and nothing more. What about TvC? Does that game "deserve" to be out in anything else than the Wii? You know there are a lot of engines that came before XBox and PS3 like Atari and PC. Do ALL RPG, simulations, and so on... "deserve" to stay on on PC and Atari?
Third: How does that affect you in the first place? You are just jealous that that game is available for more than just XBOX and PS3. You don't have to buy the game either. It is really just for a small niche of people of like to play on PC. There is virtually nobody who is going to play on PC.
Fourth: This is not like we got the game before you. Actually Capcom should have released the game to PC first since it is easier to release the game to windows than console. Therefore we "deserve" that game before you.

Yeah, that's what I'm talking about. It looks like the game is going to function identically to SF4 in that regard so they didn't even fix the original problem that everyone was complaining about. This is probably going to be yet another failed attempt at a PC port by Capcom.
Come on guys, this isn't meant to be a commercial for the game to hype you up. You should be glad that we get solid information like this straight from Capcom. If this had been from Ono we would have gotten a blurry picture of a benchmark screen with a doll in front of it.

Lol wow.
@18
He's probably saying that cause the majority of the PC gamers on this site openly admitted they were gonna pirate this game :U
from the article:
If you aren’t signed in to an online GFWL profile, the offline mode has limited functionality. Obviously there’s no online play, access to replay channels or other online-centric features (and this is the part that keeps the online play secure from hackers or pirates). Additionally, you won’t be able to save any progress in challenges or settings, won’t have access to any DLC you’ve purchased and all local play will be restricted to 15 of the 39 characters.
Ok seriously WTF is this Capcom.
Why the fvck does offline play get handicapped if it isnt connected to GFWL? And WHY WILL YOU BE LIMITED TO 15 CHARS.
I'd like a logical explaination regarding this.
@ 24 : but this is ridiculous.... it means we have to stay online in order to get full content. My internet connection isn't that great and what if i played it at someone's house who doesn't have internet?? it's like they asked us to pirate it!!!
good job capcom, good job...
#22 This pirate thing is old, and I can't belive why console gamer's can't belive THERE IS piracy on console too. Not to say, console only titles are downloadable almost 2 or 3 weeks earlier than PC relases from "not too legal sources".
Me for example, I don't download any game illegally since about vanilla SFIV relase (since 2 or 2.5 years), just because I belive it's right to do it. And yes, I pay for every game I play, and I miss a lot games I can't afford to buy, but I don't download it. Trust me, there are a lot of other players similar to me, and there is no people out there who deserves more to be able to buy SSFIVAE for PC than these people.
To single cores turn off your background
put all settings to low overclock your cpu to 3ghz..
and upgrade your ram 1-2gb ram...
i suggest you upgrade cause this game heavily depends on the processor...
(To all PC haters)
Thats ok. but we do have
Witcher 2 diablo 3 starcraft2 Amnesia
dmc4 Re5 Sf4 with better graphics
oh were so left behind.. lol
Pc will live on while
consoles will quickly vanished..
so save your money for a new xbox or ps4
so, by how things look.. legit buyers now will benefit if they pirate the game as well to bypass that offline limitation
way to go Capcom! but please don't cry when the torrent statistics show up because a large portion of that have the game bought as well :D
So I'm going to buy and pirate the game. Why wouldn't someone who bought a legit copy be able to enjoy the game to it's fullest?
way to go CAPCOM.
I don't know who are the bigger clowns, those who accuse PC player automatically of piracy, or console players who openly admit to pirate the PC version, just to show off how smart they are.
#33 Totally agree and as if ps3 players Dont use jail break..
even on the xbox360..
it matters on the consumer not the platform..
#34 He he.. valid point there..
After reading all the comments:
I guess when I haven't registered my legit copy of SSF4AE, I only can access to the limited edition of 15 characters.
Then if I register my legit copy for first time in GFWL, I'll always have the full content in Online and Offline mode without losing anything.
In brief:
-Offline mode without SSA Key = Limited Content
-Online mode without SSA Key = Impossible
-Offline mode with SSA Key = Full Content
-Online mode with SSA Key = Full Content
Am I right or wrong?
@30 if you don't think consoles are the epitome of DRM, then you need to take off the distortion goggles. The entire ecosystem of a console is locked down and pretty much requires you to update if you want to move onto anything meaningful, like playing your games online. I suppose it's not much different in regards to the game itself on PC, but at least I don't have to update my entire OS, and just the title itself.
@22 I highly doubt the majority of PC players on this site have openly admitted to piracy, unless you take trolls who want to start flame wars seriously.
@13 derp
I for one, welcome our new glorious PC master race overlords.
sweeeet, i like that they are using the benchmark to try and make you not play with people rockin old singlecores with dx9 cards lol
