Updated: Dan quick throw after knockdown against Cody in Super Street Fighter 4

Updated: EXCh33ky sent in a new video showing how this works, as Cody is able to be thrown when he hits the ground if he does a Bad Spray wake up. The video also runs through several other scenarios to see if Cody can be thrown. To check out the new footage, hit the jump.

BBWFTyrant recorded an interesting thing that happened while playing Super Street Fighter 4. After a knockdown he went in to whiff a grab and instead of the expected miss animation, it grabbed the Cody player while he was on the floor.

El Fuerte and Makoto can do this too (grab/hit the opponent while he is still on the floor),if I remember correctly.
El Fuerte can bounce with cr.MK (it was in SF4 though) an opponent from the floor,but it seems like it only works in the corner.
I am not sure,if the Makoto one was a glitch,but I have posted that in 1 of the recent F&C moments episodes.I think it was episode 31.

@Dtwizzy It's weird because of where in the animation this connects at. Cody is on his back after the knockdown when the throw grabs him, the animation for another move hasn't even begun.

It is a simple example of an OTG grab... you can do it calling an assist too to pop the opponent from the ground...

I'm actually more amazed on why would someone try to throw when the other character is falling on the ground than the glitch itself.

I Use Sim. And that has happened enough times that I went "WTF?!" myself. And I swear, these Danny players pratice exactly that! Watch how he keeps goin for the throw

This video is a good example of why you should enable inputs for videos like this. To me, it seems like he got grabbed out of the Bad Spray startup, but I'd be certain if I had input displays :)

I didn't play SSFIV yet (PC FTW :P) but shouldn't there appear "Technical" or "Reversal" if Cody did a quick get up with attack?

Well I do not know much about the bad spray move of Cody but, just curious, would it show it as a reversal anyway or no?

I'm pretty sure this is a glitch. It would've shown as a technical get up at least even if he didn't do a bad spray. And from the animation he the Cody barely stayed on the ground before dan grabbed him off of it.

It's a glitch. Cody is clearly falling onto the ground, before that happens Dan's grab overlaps with Cody's hitbox.

I already thought it was because of the bad spray. Thanks for checking into it EXCh33ky. Now i'm starting to get curious, can it work with other characters besides Dan?

I think anybody can throw Cody out of bad spray if timed right. I think this only looks better cause Dan did it..if Ryu did this we would all be saying that RYU is broken or something. (not like they don't already)
