Lynaken has made a new posting on the Forums showing the Japanese character use rankings in Super Street Fighter 4 Arcade Edition. Each group has the number of players in each BP slot.
Woops can't edit my post, but I was going to mention that Guy isn't in the groups for some reason.
@#2
I think it means theres 12 people who are 55+ BP. Correct me if I'm wrong :)
No Blanka on the bottom list. Should be between Dictator and Abel.
Yeah it means the number of players who have that much BP with said character so out of this list 20 characters haven't been able to reach the 55BP mark the only real exceptions would be Oni & Ginger since they haven't been out as long. But it could also be an indicator of how some characters struggle or just aren't used enough.
Wow look at how many Yun, Fei, Yang & Sagat users there are in the 35bp mark all over 30 then after that Viper & Bison over 20
People using a fireball character in AE? What's the world come to?!
They also nerfed dmg on his EX messiah which is beyond stupid. Guy isn't underrated there just characters with better options the only character that surprises me that don't have as much use is Akuma & makoto.
Well guys keep in mind a number of things. This is from Japan, that is a small percent, when AE comes home and all over the world (some places) the numbers will change significantly. This is'nt really a tier list, rather more it's a rank list on a broad scale.
Basically all this list means is more people play Yun, Fei, and Yang more because for one, Yun and Yang are new so they are popular, have been out longer than Oni and E.Ryu and Fei has always been strong but now he's stronger.
Although the game is balanced again these are the only new characters so naturally they will be the most played, I think it will even out over time.
You mean unbalanced Yun and yang while new people figured stuff that will work and most the cast has a hard time punishing hence why they are the most picked.
Not really.
Most popular characters are still Ryu, Ken, Gouki in Japan arcades.
Yun, Fei, Yang are just that powerful. If the new characters were Hakan and Dan, guess where they would be in the ranking for being "New" and "Popular" ? ^^
You've got a point on ONI and Evil Ryu though.
I'm going to take this as the official Eventhubs tier list.
Naw it's a usage list but if its any indicator ugh most have made the jump to Fei even gamerbee :(
This list is less about usage, and more about usefulness. It's not an out-and-out tier list, but it gives you a very good idea about how the game plays in an open environment.
Tier lists deal more in tournament viability, so that data is skewed somewhat, with that in mind, as tournament play cuts out the bottom 70% or so of useful tactics (as well as players, in general).
Still, this list is very good in seeing the overall usefulness of characters in AE.
It's obvious that Yun is #1. It's not about Yun being new... it's about Yun being good. You can argue that people didn't know how to fight him, but you could make the counter argument (that would be just as accurate) that Yun players wouldn't know how to fight match-ups with Yun. The results Yun players are seeing, is based on Yun being really effective. That's it.
Surprised that Blanka, M. Bison, Abel, Dhalsim & Zangief rank higher than Akuma. Well I can get Zangief and maybe Bison.
''the only character that surprises me that don't have as much use is Akuma & makoto.'' Same. I mean they aren't at bad spots, but Akuma/Makoto are Mixup beasts, crazy options, require some good execution, a lot of potential. I thought those things were what the Japs loved.
but good stuff, tbh I'd prefer to see Yuns 90% of the time instead of Ryu (What we have now) Yun is a little harder to use anyways.
Also Im glad E.Ryu isn't OP or really overused, they are at good spots.
Surprised at the lack of Akuma players. He is a difficult character to dominate with....which is why Tokido is so respected.
@26
I don't know part you are in Japan (if you even are), you hardly see the high-ranked shoto's in top arcades like Safari and Battle Arena.
Yun and Yang are definitely the most used characters, no doubt.
@42 : It's only the global characters chart usage of Arcade Edition, not only in some few arcades.
When Top players like Kindevu are saying they want to play strong characters, this in not a surprise. Even Daigo said he couldn't believe how Capcom made Yun that good...
Wait till you see the jump in Fei & Yun players in the tourney scene ugh.
Reports have been saying high Mid on Yang and between the two Yun has better tools also he's still up their in usage but out of the three (counting Fei) he is the weakest.
since fei's normals were buffed, does this mean his links are easier to do to combo into a rekka? does anyone know this please let me know just asking.
Blanka beats Yun free in AE. just pick gief, blanka if you ahte Yun and yang.
and yeah, Ryu is still the most use character in AE.
You sure doesn't the cut in blanka ball distance hurt him against the dash punch?
No more AA Headbutt without EX, for one.
Another day at Safari, another day full of Yang (seems to be rather popular lately, many players picked him up like Mago, Fu~ and Bonchan. Cancelling out of Rekka is such a pain to deal with, not to mention the trillon ways to combo into Ultra I AND II.
@60: Picking charge characters are suicide now (because they could pose a problem to poor little Yun). Even Rog and Bison have a lot of drawbacks.
Well Bison has been doing pretty good despite the changes, Dee Jay should get more love with his buffs. Blanka takes more patients now IMO especially since the ball is more punishable.
Has Daigo got a cabinet in his house?! Eat, sleep and dream AE.
&66 The only reason he ranked so high was due to him destroying the lower tiers the rest who where in his class didn't have such a hard time.
I'm surprised Gen is above Rufus in the BP rankings.
