A Capcom employee, who goes by the name of Neo Deus, put up a FAQ page for Super Street Fighter 4 Arcade Edition explaining how some of the ins and outs of the title will function. There's a breakdown on lobbies, how the version select works and more information. Okay, but I heard that you can have lobbies with both Original and Arcade Edition players? How does this matching work?
Ooh, time for an illustrative example! Let's say we have three SSFIV players. The first two, Asura and Barrett, both purchased the Arcade Edition DLC. The third player, Vector, downloaded the free upgrade but didn't purchase the DLC.
If Vector wanted to create an online lobby, he could only do so as a Original SSFIV lobby. Any and all matches played in this lobby would be with the characters as they are in SSFIV, and all points won/lost would be Original BP/PP.
Now, because they purchased the DLC, both Asura and Barrett have an option of what their lobbies would be. First, let's say that Asura creates an "AE-Only" lobby. In this lobby, Barrett could join, but Vector couldn't. All characters will be rebalanced, and they'll be playing for AE BP/PP.
The second option is that Asura could create a lobby which is set to "Both" which, as the name implies, allows for players from both Original SSFIV and AE to join. Both Barrett and Vector could join this lobby. If Asura plays against Barrett, they'll play with rebalanced characters and earn AE BP/PP. If, though, Asura plays against Vector, Asura's game will automatically toggle to Original Mode, meaning that the characters will not be rebalanced, and they'll be playing for Vanilla BP/PP.
Capcom need to suck as much money out of us is disgusting, I wish they would just explode into a million pieces.
Lol, that was the most eccentric FAQ I've seen in a while. Good stuff.
Dnt bother me on grammar, n wat not I'm very flustered today. Leave my grammatical err's ALONE.
Q: "Are the four characters' alternate costumes available when you buy AE?"
A: "No, they will become available after a couple weeks. Each of the four new characters has two costumes which will be available for purchase in a single pack (at the same price as the previous costume packs)."
Two each? Interesting.
so download a free upgrade that does absolutely nothing....
damn capcom ftw
so download a free upgrade that does absolutely nothing....
damn capcom ftw
what can u expect capcom to do for free honestly
i still dont get. i know im kinda a noob but please someone explain it slowly and make me understand better. why did they choose the names Asura and Barrett? I JUST DONT GET IT!!!!
;)

No, they will become available after a couple weeks. Each of the four new characters has two costumes which will be available for purchase in a single pack (at the same price as the previous costume packs).
Isn't that just great. We have to pay for every little thing. Just give us these damn comstumes for free.
The Shotokan: "Capcom need to suck as much money out of us is disgusting, I wish they would just explode into a million pieces."
No, they've gone to a technical effort to allow people who already had SSFIV and DIDN'T want to pay more money to still play with others. If they wanted to "suck" money out of you, they'd have made a more decisive split. Get someone to help you read news stories if you're going to misunderstand them this badly.
I want this setup for PC too! more options = better, people like options. Heck I would rather 2 games instead of just one ;D
I dont see what is confusing, the example was perfect, just set it up how you want to play it.
I plan on getting the DLC, but I also like to have something tangible, so what-
BOXED VERSION.
you can game share the AE DLC right ? because I know I'm not BUYING it lool
This is far too complicated than it has to be. They should have just rebalanced ALL characters according to the AE standard and been done with it. The only thing that having the DLC or the AE disk would grant you, in my opinion, would be the additional character content.
Is it really so hard for any of these sites to just straight up ask if there will be any more character introductions other than the four announced fighters? I know they said there would be no new characters via dlc but never have answered if they were done introducing anyone else.
This should be nice. Switching between Chocolate and Chocolate with Sprinkles is gonna be nice.
I will buy AE but I think it's possible that people will go back to SSF4 if AE proves to be too unbalanced. I haven't played it so can't say but the Yun Yang Fei matches look boring to me (imo).
@Chunners they already said they are done with AE. It's the last iteration of SF4. If there were more characters we would have been trolled by the producer (forgotten his name!). Plus Evil Ryu and Oni were supposed to be keeping us excited around about now but they got hacked early. I don't think there are anymore characters...
@29
I couldn't agree more. I thought this is what they were originally planning...oh well, i'm buying it anyway...I think a 15 dollar dlc is not a big deal more than a year after the game has been released...if you don't buy it good luck finding games lol.
That's all I needed to hear about switching between versions.
I think the most interesting thing is that you can win/lose bp/pp in a lobby
I can see myself buying AE and playing Super SF4 lobbys all the time.
DLC Shoulda been free
Im not playin with super people ever
AE makoto is where its at
Good Riddance Super
they need to get to the bottom of this anytime before June 7
QUestion? Lets say I set a lobby to "both" meaning i can play either a Super or AE opponent, right? Ok, but what if I just main Evil Ryu, and say my next opponent was vs a Super player. Does that mean E.Ryu is not playable? If so , that sucks.
It is damn rediculous to maintain two sets of SSF4. Why can't they Keep It Simple, Stupid?
1. SSF4 will be updated to follow AE rebalanced standard
2. If I don't have AE, I will use only non-AE-Exclusive characters, but I STILL be able to play against Yun, Yang, Oni and Evil Ryu.
That way, there won't be those nonsense thingy mentioned.
#44 are you joking? Or serious? Looks like Oni to me.
M
#47 dude, you need help there is no way that is remotely Oni, it's not Chun Li or Yang, I know that is a character that hasn't been revealed yet
"The second option is that Asura could create a lobby which is set to "Both" which, as the name implies, allows for players from both Original SSFIV and AE to join. Looks a bit too complicated. I really wish everyone would just have to use AE....and be done with it. If I'm going to adapt to AE changes, I don't want to be going back to Super. I guess I'll be doing "AE" only.
@VanCityPlayboy
The model does seem way too small to be Oni, but the stance definitely fits him.
It would be nice to think there are more characters to be unlocked, (with the Hugo image and Justin's Karin comment) but why wouldn't they have been unlocked prematurely at the same time as Evil Ryu and Oni were?
You can hope for a sneaky reveal, but I wouldn't count on it.
GomuJonny> you're right it's too small to be Oni but I still think it's either Alex or Charlie (more closer to Alex due to the flap of the overalls) and you're also right I can hope for a sneaky reveal but it'll never be revealed unless it's last minute
Aluppoj> you have a good head on your shoulders about this
So.... you have to make and find "AE-only" lobbies unless you want to switch between SSFIV balance and AE balance every other fight? Seems like a cumbersome way to go about it.
