Via Capcom-Unity.
It's okay, it seems like there was effot put in, but it's to choppy for my taste.
uhhh... I'd feel bad to spit on someone who'd dedicate so much time to create something, but... If only at least the voices were decent... <.<
again, i guess its ok, like RisingSun777 said i think they put a little effort into it. they took scenes from different sf comic, movies ect. and mad it into a comic animation...just to state the obviouse...but as i said in the other vid i still like the other one better. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_xDamw...
Rating 5 out of 10 (AVERAGE, not bad not good JUST AVERAGE!) and I'm being majorly generous
Audio is off, ALOT of living holds(ryu standing in one place just breathing or hair being blown by the wind) with a leaf falling down, Their fist don't touch during the first blow (WTF!),RYU FADES IN!(when he leans down to Gouken's body), and alot of "I see what you did theres" that are fake animation
Sorry I thought it was awful. Bad animations, bad voice acting, very slow action.
If he did this alone, I could imagine how much better it would be if he had a hand in this.
This was a great video for someone alone. People need to appreciate what is delivered because putting it together is alot harder than you guys might think.
Voice is off but next time if he is adaptive he will read these comments and upgrade that.
6/10 for me because the art is great and it has potential to be better however the audio needs work but not as much as most people are mentioning here.
Ex_Ein, there's nothing wrong with giving your opinion bro but you don't have to continue insulting it. I think we get that you think it's rubbish and don't like it lol.
The animation was done by only one guy, so taking that into account it wasn't bad. Voice acting wasn't good though in my opinion. Agree a lot with coolboycorporate ^
The animation is fine It's just the fact they are working on a story about street fighter. The street fighter story was written by drunk third grader.
The guy just took alot of Udon's work and used it.. I don't really respect that, and it didn't turn out good either.
I prefer this guy's work:
http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x75m...
There were too many poses traced from other capcom art and some of the shots had awkward perspective.
But i respect that this guy put alot of effort into it. If film making/ animation is what this guy wants to do and he can continue to make clips w/ as much vigor ( but w/ his own art)- i suspect he'll do great.
(4/5 months? Takes some dedication, geez - that's why I gave up on programming.
Anyway, VO needs work, specifically some clarity issues with the ambience taking over Master Gouken's monologue. Used the same leaf falling wayyyy too many times. Was done by a small team, so probably not much could've been done anyway.
Side note, seriously reminded me of something from newgrounds, heh.)
I know how hard it is to take a project of this size on by yourself because I've spent 6 years of my life studying animation specialising in 2D Flash character animation... That said... this is horrible.
The bulk of the animation was at a very low frame rate (that why it looks "choppy") and alot of it was traced from different ryu-based sources giving no continuity of style between shots.
The audio was terrible, most notably Gouken's voice being completely inaudible, but on top of that there were bad SFX used throughout (basically the sound didn't truly reflect the motion).
And some SFX were not needed, i.e. the footsteps in the water shouldn't have been there by them selves due to the lack of other SFX in the scene.
If there were SFX for the waterfall, breeze through trees & maybe some ambient nature (i.e. birds or crickets) at the right audio levels in relation the music soundtrack it would work alot better to build a believable environment for the characters to exist in.
There's also alot specific techniques that need to be used when animating that give more exaggerated movement to any moving object (i.e. "Squash & Stretch", "Anticipation" and "Follow-through").
The only hint of any use of the basic principles was on the single animation on the falling leaf which was constantly repeated throughout, which judging by the rest of the animation that was contained in the film, I believe you have roto-scoped the frames of either an animation of a leaf falling or sample frames from a tutorial on animation.
Anyone who knows anything remotely comprehensive about animating in Flash could knock something of this quality out in a week.
Sorry for the rant, but it just annoys me when people say "The animation was done by only one guy, so taking that into account it wasn't bad"... because it's not a good excuse. I personally have completed Uni projects of better quality in less than a week (by myself also). Given that it took the guy 5 months to complete it's incredibly shoddy work.
@#19
Yeah, I've read the Ultimate Editions cover-to-cover and it looks like he more or less traced Udon's art for the key frames.
@#25
Thank you, I wasn't sure if I should say it. I have a Bachelor's in Animation, and personally, I would have spent those five months putting together fewer shots of much higher quality, rather than essentially stealing key frames and doing some shoddy in-between work. The presentation wasn't great either, but for one guy doing a project like this, that tends to get pushed to the end, so that I can forgive. But the rest... no.
...You didn't happen to study at EUP, did you?
Never thought I'd see the day I'd prefer Dhim's animation over something else.
@king_e_dawg
I'm not entirely sure what EUP stands for but I studied for a BSc at the University of Portsmouth in England.
My personal methodology is to get as much of the presentation up to scratch as I go along and then polish it all over at the end, but I can understand it getting pushed until the end.
4,5 months seems to long for this quality. Don't want to say anything too bad...but I don't understand what all of the voices are saying. Animation is terrible, the music is decent. The quality of some Japanese self-made animations on nicovideo or youtube are way better.
@Quezacoatl
Are you suggesting that I need to create an animation of my own in order to validate the integrity of my critique?
... I could chuck something like this out in very little time, but there would be no point in doing so because it would get the same terrible reception that this has received... and rightly so. (maybe slightly better, simply because I wouldn't trace any existing style for Ryu and I'd master the audio far better.)
If I were to create an animation to pay homage to the Street Fighter series, I would want to spend some serious time on it so as to do it properly and to a quality that would satisfy my standards as both a fan of Street Fighter and animation itself.
The time required to complete a project like this to my standards would far exceed the time that I currently have at my disposal.
If I took your comment in the wrong way, I apologise... Bottom line, you won't see any SF animations from me in the near future.
I'm with Goldfish on this. While I appreciate the effort and time put into it, that doesn't make it automatically good.
@40 - not sure if you're joking or not, but any animator worth their salt would appreciate a valid critique from any source.
That whole "you haven't done it so you don't count" train of thought is bull.
Waste of time posting this. Oh well i killed six minutes out of this. Five months to complete this??? $H1T!!!!! That cammy video was way better and top notch.
genocideSX- pretty much a crappy copy of the video you posted. Atleast they have time in there hands. I cant even give em credit for this.
Guy copied this almost 1:1 from http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_xDamw...
@#45
yea watched them side by side and yea just about the same thing, except the vid you posted was posted about 3 years ago >_<
Peace everyone! A major love of mine will forever be fighting games and people who play them are the kind of people I always want to connect with!
Check me out at:
Goldfish & roknin thank you for backing me up on this one
Gunner
I'm explaining why it's Rubbish because there's certain things even me(a guy STILL IN COLLEGE FOR ANIMATION) can see is wrong here in terms of animation and wouldn't fly in my class room let alone on TV even
Audio balance....Can't hear Gouken
