@1
RE2 remake needs to happen asap. I'll pay big money for that game to be remade.
well its official, no MM universe. i wonder what's the reason behind it.
also, how do YOU think Ryu would have worked out in MMU? punches and kicks? or spam of hado's?
im trying to get a concept of how he would fit in MM style run-n'-gun environment.
besides ryu, pretty much everything went peachy. i love how it is so far.
"Street Fighter 3 Third Strike Online Edition has a high budget, i.e. a lot of money is being devoted to improving the game. It has an even higher budget than SSF2T HD Remix had even with all of the redrawn sprites in the previous game."
sorry i can't believe all we're getting is a effin gallery and hd filters. that statement is meant to express there is something like sven said "you will wet your pants".
does anybody think that its getting a re-draw too!? think about it hdr was done in about a year, 3rd strike oe has been in the works for over 2 years that we know of. i'm sticking to my guns it's going to get a major upgrade they never said its getting balance changes, and never said anything about not revamping the extremely dated look.
#15
SF3SO hasn't been in the works for two years. It hasn't even been a year. It was announced last year and Ono and Seth even said that when they announced it literally no work had even been started.
We're not getting new sprites, I gaurantee it.
I am *so happy* they're aware of the DHC glitch. In my estimation that's the only non-minor balance issue remaining in Marvel 3, which is really amazing considering what a complex game it is.
Concerning 3s, they must have really put a lot of money into their vaseline filter technology.
WHY? Why does it have such a huge budget, when they're not really working on it, just slapping on a filter and the crappy SF4/MvC3 netcode?
I really hope they lose money on it, so they finally get the picture that SF3 needs to be left alone.
@ darko_p86:
Two reasons why they remade RE1:
1.) PS1 version of Resident Evil was impossible to beat. There were lack of ammo (and herbs) for you to kill everything in sight. Therefore you had to run pass so many zombies and dogs (and get bitten along with it) so you can kill the ones that need to be killed.
2.) They remade RE1 for Gamecube b/c Gamecube was just released and it had better graphics than PS1. Capcom wanted to showcase how RE would look with enhanced graphics. Plus they added a couple new features including the defensive tactic with Chris using a flash grenade and JIll using a knife. To be honest, I became a RE fan after playing RE for Gamecube. The PS1 version kinda ruin my fun with shooting zombies in a dark mansion.
@17 you sound pretty confident about that false info. back when all the hype was on hdr jimmy let slip that another version of street fighter was in the works of a "remake of sorts" and no plans were to redraw that game because he was so over budget on hdr and they were unsure as to how well hdr will do, over on unity. this was before hdr was up for sale on the networks.
they said over two years ago that to re-draw a game with as many frames as 3rd strike would take a lot of money and time. OVER TWO YEARS AGO THIS WAS SAID. hdr sold millions you honestly think that capcom wouldnt keep the money rolling in because of a challenge to update the look? that's just bad business and stupid to say.
(Of course there's more to reveal about SFxT, like a COMEBACK FACTOR
:P)
"• Street Fighter Alpha 3 is coming to the PSN in the future."
And they'll make more money off of that alone than anything else listed/stated....then they'll be left scratching their heads wondering why this is the case.
Had Capcom knew what the word 'prioritize' meant, they'd probably be collectively doing a lot better off.
Alpha 3 as a PS1 Classic... getting it. Loved the PS1 version of Alpha 3 especially with the World Tour mode.
@SpinRyu
Well if SNK really are in gutter then wouldn't it be in their best interest to have Capcom bail them out with a crossover title. Again.
@Jerry
If Alpha 3 is coming to PSN I say to hell with a crappy PS1 "classic", give us the Sega Saturn version which has everything the PS version has and more! Same goes for any re-releases of say Darkstalkers 3, don't cop out on us be giving us a inferior version, no offence to the old skool playstation but that was something the Saturn had, it was leaps and bounds ahead of it for the highest quality 2D Capcom fighter so yea we should get get in future Sega Saturn versions of the old school 2D fighters like X-Men Vs Street Fighter (which was laughably bad on the PS. No tagging? REALLY?) or anything else like that.
More clarification is needed on the quick bullet points of what went down on the stream.
"There was a big meeting about the future of fighting games at Capcom, but they couldn't offer details on what was said there. The session was called "extremely great." Seth said his old quote still stands, it's an exciting time for fighting game fans, people will have smiles on their faces for a long time."
The quote above was in reference to Capcom's future in fighting games, also related to Capcom fighters that are NOT Street Fighter and Marvel. IPs like Rival Schools Darkstalkers.
"For Capcom vs. SNK 2 to come out again, there would have to be a renegotiation with SNK Playmore, as a contract runs for a period of time and is specified for certain platforms. If the title is going to come out again, a new contract will have to be negotiated."
It was also stated that CVS2 didn't have enough demand for the risk to be taken. I find that very hard to believe, but whatever.

This makes me very hopeful for Darkstalkers.
@CeeJay323
I don't think he's salty at all. It's just that SF3 series over-alienated majority of the fanbase and did a masterful job of underselling by catering to such a tiny fraction of the fans that SF3 is still widely considered the game that almost killed the franchise.
If Daigo and that Parry video never took place, there wouldn't be a bunch of phonies trying to inflate SF3 to make it appear to be more than what it really was.
Whatever Capcom's trying to do for SFIII now is wasted and could have potentially have been better time and effort spend on Alpha 3 or Darkstalkers.
The fact that this is Capcom's FIFTH time trying to take a chance on SF3 to make it profitable despite the first 4 attempts that obviously didn't work out means that Capcom just can't take a hint.
The fact that they haven't been able turn a worthwhile profit speaks volumes about what the widespread consumer base thinks of it. Only the chronically enfeebled SFIII hardcores who can't let it go are the people supporting it, which is NOT ENOUGH. As to why Capcom is still bothering to try is far beyond the understanding of the more rational-minded.
@ 39 how am I the salty one?
3rd Strike is praised as the "smartest" and most "savvy" of the series yet when it is explicitly stated that gameplay won't be changed people still have room to complain.
I'm just saying there's no reason to be bent out of shape about the game content being touched up.
"Capcom is aware of the demand for an upgraded version of Marvel vs. Capcom 3 that changes stuff like X-Factor, the DHC Glitch and other things, but there's nothing they can talk about at this time. They're aware of the demand, and it's nice to hear, but nothing they can say on that front right now."
Woah woah woah, X-factor being changed now? I'm pretty sure that's more of a problem with Sentinel and anyone who plays the game well is fine with X-factor. Worse than that, "upgraded" version? No one wants to buy the damn game over again.
"I don't think he's salty at all. It's just that SF3 series over-alienated majority of the fanbase and did a masterful job of underselling by catering to such a tiny fraction of the fans that SF3 is still widely considered the game that almost killed the franchise."
Totally off the mark. The reason that 3rd Strike failed was because it was on the CPS3.
The only reason it was nearly impossible to come back in mvc2 when you were down to your last character against 3 is that the game wasn't balanced at all. I think almost all the characters in this game can come back with out xfactor but the damage and time during the fight revolves around it.
@#23 Ok, I know this is off topic but man, there are so many things wrong with your post that I don't even know where to start.
Yes, PS1 Resident Evil was hard at first, but it wasn't by any means impossible to beat. Also, not being able to kill everything in sight is a *good* thing for a survival horror game and is one of the things that made the old RE games so awesome. Scarcity of resources and a constant sense of vulnerability are a staple of the survival horror genre. What would be the point if you could go around killing everything in sight without having to worry about ammo or health? It may be fun for an action FPS, but it wouldn't be a survival horror game anymore (e.g. RE4 and 5). /rant
@darko_p86: I'd love a RE2 remake too, with all the survival horror elements intact, or better yet, enhanced. Oh, and it needs to be for PS3/360 of course. We can only hope.
No matter how balanced the game would be, the only chance you would make a comeback when you're down to your last character and against 3 is if you have Cable, and catch your opponent's point and assist in an AHVB and chain them enough to kill both characters. Other than that, yes, it is nearly impossible no matter how balanced it is. Even if you have an awesome Magneto and you're down to that, but you're up against a full Santhrax, the chances of you winning would still be extremely low. It's not because of balance, it's just simply 3 vs. 1. Being outnumbered.
@ Aluppoj MALDA
Dude was it? I was checking wiki and it said with the 4 MEG cart it would give out all the goodies with very little imperfections and a few extras.... but hey I guess thats Wiki for you and it is like 2 in the morning over in Scotland and I can barely keep my eyes open so I possibly misread lol *^^"*
But yea if it was the Dreamcast version as you say then Capcom give us that one then if it is the defintive/best version of the game outside of an actual cabinet with it lol.
ok, so if everyone is really powerful in sfxtekken right now, doesnt that mean we have balance?? They need to make characters GOOOD, puting characters in like sf4 vega or hakan is a waste of time. please, lets balance up. I want a game where everyone is like sf4 sagat.
Im kind of sick of waiting for MVC3 news. They left us in the air with that one, they release a costume pack for 5 or 6 characters and then stop completely. All we get is those Event Modes and Shadow Mode that I don't give F* about. I just hope they are just waiting for the release of AE to start making some updates for MVC3.
I want some MVC2 characters to return and complete the costumes so every character has one, thats all.
@28
thats true, snk is hurting right now. Honestly i figured they would have reached out to capcom as soon as sf4 was a hit and try to do cvs3 and hopefully pick up some new fans in the process but i think that ship has sailed with sfxtekken on the horizon. Its ashame, i would have loved to see sf characters done kof13 style.
"People who are not excited about Street Fighter X Tekken right now may be surprised in the future. The gang said there's more stuff to announce that may get people really going, Seth added it'll be a hot topic"
We'll see about that. As it stands, I don't like the current direction. I much prefered the Comic Con gameplay trailer over the new one.
The highest budget? Does it mean SF3 3S OE will have more bugs than any Capcom game before?
Unbelievable, but yet not impossible.
@57
I agree. Until I see something that REALLY catches my eye, I doubt I'll be buying. From what I'm seeing, the gameplay looks almost exactly like Mortal Kombat. Not that I don't like MK, I just don't need a game with almost the exact same gameplay from Capcom.
Oh and about that other part:
"• People who are not excited about (game title) right now may be surprised in the future."
I wouldn't buy that game even if the extent of use was to use it as a coaster or even just to snap it in half. I've even told guests that the title is banned from entering my household, just like sports titles.
^^ If they added new characters and rebalanced the game it wouldn't be Third Strike.
I'm guessing they're putting the money into the online network. Possibly GGPO, or better. That, and I hope it has normal/parry training, the alternate console colors, or a custom palette editor.
But, we gotta wait a month for anything substantial, so... yeah.
So does this mean a Darkstalkers sequel in the future? God I hope so!
Zeidust
WITH some of the fan favorites they NEVER included like
-the tall grass stage with the lightning. the grass would have to cover their feet up to about half way to their knee. and when they land or step on the grass it has to look real according to how it actually is when you walk and fall on tall grass. id have the lightning come out in random times, some weak yet some strong streaks.
oother cool stages would be
-moonlit wilderness
-cammy's aurora borealis stage
-birdie's truck stop restroom. id have random drunk punks, truckers, tourists,etc just walk in and go around the characters, baffled just wantin to use the restroom. yo could even see a guy or two using the urinals (their backs toward us of course)and sinks. trash cans could be knocked over and sinks would be destroyed leaking out onto the floor.
and of course, vegas net stage with spanish people drinking in the background
All you people complaining that there should be a balance change in 3soe, quit bitching.
What's to stop them from patching it later down the road, better yet, and who knows if they aren't going to give the option to play a rebalanced version of it, or to play regular 3s.
After reading the comments on this post I think I'm going to stop reading the Eventhubs comments in general. No one can have a civil discussion and everything is a largely uninformed outraged of one kind or another.
That said I'm surprised there *isn't* more outrage at the implication they may be forcing us to buy a Marvel update..
@69 & 70 Just about most sites I've been to are the same like SRK trust it's a lot more toned down here than it is over there. Also outside of FG websites like for example TF websites G1's hate quite a bit of the gen after them I've seen some of there flame wars not pretty.
But civil discussion can be had it's just damn hard...
Yeah... Kind of curious as to what they are going to be spending that money on if there is no re-drawing of sprites and no re-balancing...
The only thing that would make me very very happy/smile on my face for a long time is if their future titles start using ggpo(or something better) so I can play them the way they're intended.
I hope their big meeting about the future of fighting games is about that, not just new titles.
@FGM
Yea dude I knew it was out on it :) I can mind reading about it in the old Saturn mag saying about that magical 4MEG cart I just wasn't sure if it was as close to arcade perfect as you can get or not..... good times, but it should be good to have that back on the go again.
But man, to think back in the day that was a big thing, an extra 4MEG onto it but now thats nothing lol. Game still looks amazing though, I always believed games like that with the 2D spirites were like art in motion.
@70
Because we all already knew that.
We got suckerd.
We will just wait & see how the update turns out & not jump the gun brainlessly like we all did.
Those are my intentions atleast :o
I wonder what's so impressive about SF3TSOE, since they said they won't add any new characters or make any balance changes.
And balance changes is precisely the only thing that could catch my attention on this case. I'm so tired of Street Fighter 3: Yun&Chun Strike
Would love to replay re2, re3, veronica and 4. Now that umbrella and wesker are dead, do we even have a possibility in seeing a new re6 trailer or game coming out in that matter in the near future? (SFtheWOLF) i agree, mvc3 is growing on me like a third limb, but do we actually have to buy a marvel update???? Wassup with that????? Now we have to purchase updates too...................... I dont mind buying another version of mvc3 if its cheap and its the last installment of that game. Sucks i cant play my old classic ps1, ps2 games on my 80 gig ps3. I dont wanna shell out more money on a ps2, or a 60gig ps3 if its going to give me problems in the future.(like over heating, and corruted data etc.) and a ps2 iL only use to play classics and not really use it that much.
cammy- agree with you aswell. No new characters, modes or balance changes??? Dont know why everyone is excited about this game. For me i wanna play online and try to get better replaying this old classic with a good online netcode and challenge mode and replay mode. Is it that hard to add these?? Just curious. Seth says they collected alot of money, why not add these??? Just the ability to play online with updated graphics. Alpha3 MAX included yun, eagle, maki, ingrid, and unlocked guile, eryu and arcade balrog with some new challenges and balance changes. Would love to see a 2d el fuerte, abel, cvip, rufus and juri. That would be sick on a 2d platform. CAPCOM/SETH, dont hold out on us. We know what your capable of doing.
A new megaman universe is a must. Surprised theres no new megaman games on platforms. Only handhelds. Weird. Platforms just get classic megaman games, which is still not bad on psn. Dont know about live. SNK really needs capcoms help if they still wanna make it a float. There not gonna last in the future if they dont start making decisions now. But i think its to late for that. They just want to keep on competing with capcom. MK9, sfxt, MvC3, tekken7(near future), SSF4ae, and most likely sf6 in the future, SF3S online, and probably a new darkstalkers game and a remake of sfa3. Most of these games are capcom related and thats just fighting games. SNK should be worried. They have to compete with these giants. Hopefully capcom can rebuild SNKs infrastructure or its game over for them. Only thing keeping SNK alive is fanbois and japanese players since KOF's is so popular in japan.
They're putting in extra characters, aren't they. It's just occurred to me that including Oni in AE makes no sense unless he's in SF3, too. This is going to make absolutely no sense, but whatever. If they include another SF2 character or two, I'll be happy.
New DINO CRISIS plz. DC3 sucked hard balls. And I wouldn't be surprised if Capcom is lying about what it is and isn't doing. Hopefully CvS3 is in the works, hopefully it will be better than 2, and hopefully KOFXIII is localized, or else SNK's sunk, with Capcom reviving so many IP's and Namco not far behind with fighting games,Tecmo will undoubtedly continue with DOA, and Arc System works and others are coming out with original IP's. Only Sega's not a threat to SNK, since they're busy getting their ass reamed by Sonic fanboys and with not releasing VF5FS.
someone ask em "what about mega man uneverse?" they abandoned that since the earthquake. any chance of it getting back up?
and how about a RE2 Remake just like RE1 Remake?
