so i get two bobbles dope cause of course gotta have it on both systems hopefully its e.ryu and oni for one or the other system and not be random or because of supplies or location
(Damnit, bobbleheads? Curse you, Capcom, you've found my secret weakness for video game memorabilia!)
Banned a great pad just like that, doesn't seem like they understand what this means for some people. They should offer 2 pads of their own with every ps3 at EVO if they think that people bringing pads from home is such a problem because I ,like many others of this same community, love the ps3 pad for all games I play and wouldn't even enter EVO if I could since it is banned now. F*** converters btw it's not the same, stuff will jam up randomly and that ends up horribly sometimes.
(wait can you get the $15 version w/ the bobbleheads? Didn't realize it was the disc/$40 one)
Are they serious?
The Dual Shock 3 is banned but the awful Madcatz PS3 fightpad isn't? That fightpad has real bad lag because it's not wired. That's why if you look around, the PS3 fightpad is ALWAYS cheaper than the 360 one.
And I wonder if an imported PS3 pad like the Hori Fighting Commander 3 will be allowed?
Anyway... I can understand why they'd do it, but why not set up a dedicated PS3 for use as a de-sync station so people could de-sync PS3 pads there post-match?
It's their call though.
PlayStation 3 wireless pads are banned at EVO??
and i need to use a MadCatz or Hori equipment?
i smell BS contracts being made.
If that is a real occurring problem why don't change to 360(me being a PS3 user im not familiar to the xbox control, console sync) as many more top players play on said console.
Man I don't think a MadCatz fightpad can be compared to a PS3 controller. The d-pad is complete crap on the MadCatz FP. Any pad player will tell you how precise and comfortable a PS3 controller's d-pad can be.
Once you break it in sliding inputs are effortless. I wish MadCatz would make a controller with a d-pad as high quality as the Dualshock 3.
Looks like if I plan to go tournament-wise, I got to learn how to use a Fightstick.
In regards to SSF4 AE, I'm getting the DLC for the 360 and retail for PS3. I'm going all out!
Put the consoles further away than where the crowd sits or something for the remote can't interrupt the game. Its bs saying this so close to the event. Its not easy for someone to just buy a stick not just because of the price, but if they have been playing for so long in pad its not easy to adjust. I play ssiv with a stick but don't like it in mvc3. Sounds more like a devious scheme to have people buy more sticks.
Pff...most BS news I read all day. I guess I'm not going EVO ever. I facking hate playing on sticks. It's like trying to walk with two left feet for me. Guess I'll never get to flaunt my Guy or Cody.
Simple solution to PS3 controller issue, desync station. Lots of tournaments have them. It's just a station where a PS3 is hooked up and you just plug your controller into the charger, and it'll sync up to an unused PS3. It could be a slight problem for a tournament as big as Evo, but I think it's ridiculous to ban the default controller.
In for 1 copy for PS3. I also found this coupon code that saved me 10%. CAPCOMSAVESU, use it :D
About the bobbleheads, I wish instead there were stuffed street fighter characters, that would be cool. I want a Blanka stuffy!!! And a Zangief stuffy!!!
Oh and I just read the article, PS2 controllers are allowed with a converter, that's pretty much the same as the ps3 controller, and ps2 controllers are dirt cheap, don't know about the converter though...
There is a serious issue being overlooked here.
Evo thinks that the Madcatz Fightpad has a Blutooth Dongle? I wish. It has an IR Dongle!
I have used the Madcatz Fightpad since they came out. I love them, and would never trade up. But....
They CANNOT be used in tournaments! I was all set to attend Seasons Beatings last year. I contacted the hosts to ask them about the MC Fightpads, they told me they were banned due to connection/interference issues.
They were right too. Since I've owned them I've gone thru 6 dongles. Madcatz was always very nice and replaced them quickly. But that doesn't change the facts. Let me explain.
When using a single dongle things are usually ok. Unless the fuse overheats, then connection is lost and the dongle may burn out.
When attempting to use to IR USB dongles at the same time... Omg, buyer be ware. They start to interfere with eachother almost instantly, until one of the dongles starts blinking and gets fried. It will never pair with a fightpad again. Now you have to call MC and get it replaced.
I've collected 7 fightpads and had this issue with EVERY one. My friends too. The MC support line always knew exactly what I was talking about.
I even had a helpful MC tech guys direct desk line saved in my contacts (I play sf a lot lol).
Two issues:
1) Evo seems confused about the operation of the MC fightpad, as it's IR and not Blutooth.
2) I've been screaming about this for years, praying MC/Mark Man would address this issue and just throw a damn cord on the PS3 version.
What frustrates me the most is that no on even responds to me. From casual posters to forum heads.
We as consumers have a real problem here. And no one ever listens to me.
I don't want to switch to a Hori commander, I really enjoy my MC FP.
I saw the controller post and thought I'd give it one last shot.
Catalyst, please ask Mark what's up with this issue. Can it be switched to blutooh? Can it get a cord?
Why was competitive play taken into account with the sticks but thrown out the window with the pads? (I own two sticks btw, modded)
Please help, I've been asking for years.
lol @ all the armchair warriors saying "no way I'm going to Evo now".
@9 - No BS/contracts. I specifically remember the PS3 pads causing problems and drama during Evo2k10. IIRC, Sanford's match was interrupted more than once due to someone's pad messing with the system. I can't blame them for banning them.
@15 - Agreed. My guess is they don't even want to bother with the possibility of it happening at all.
That Voice Actor site seems to have mixed up the voice artists for Galactus. It says that Jonathan Adams did Galactus....but he was the VA for Dormammu.
pretty cool that the voice actor for deadpool was the same guy as Nathan Drake from Uncharted.
and lol at the voice actor for sentinel
The double KO video was awesome.
The best VA for MVC3 are X-23, Felicia, Hsien Ko, Spider Man, Dante, Deadpool, She Hulk, Phoenix, Chris, Wesker, Dormamu, Zero and Galactus.
If EVO think players PS3 controllers will cause problems, then they need to provide the controllers them self. 2 per console, register them for a specific console and make the rules that no PS3 controller can be remove from that area or use it on another PS3. Leave them turn off until a Pad player comes in, give the PS3 controller from that console to the player, once the fight is finish turn them off again set it on the table next to the PS3 and continue.
so ps3 controllers banned for ps3?
i see why.. but it's just really funny they get their own controller banned..
i wish sony could make a wired version of the DS3
