Versus City translated a report from Arcadia Magazine stating that Oni will be unlocked in Super Street Fighter 4 Arcade Edition on April 8, 2011. Also, there's brief news about Super Battle Opera and a few other things from the magazine.

What would Ono's Ultra be? He'd stun you by yelling out some kind of troll remark then finish you off by tweeting about it?
Seriously though, any details about how Oni will be unlocked? Do arcade owners get some kind of code to unlock them? Or does he just get unlocked automatically when the arcade time reaches midnight of April 7?
Ono's Ultra should be him going to the Dev Team and having them nerf your character.
I like all your guys suggestions for ultras for ono.

Who even cares anymore? Evil Ryu and Oni were never interesting or exciting characters to begin with, then Capcom ruined what little hype they had by revealing everything about them before they were unlocked and then getting all pissy when people found out how to unlock them early.

I think so because Oni doesnt really resemble akuma in anyway lool evil ryu is more akuma like than Oni also why would capcom call him Oni and not Oni akuma I mean they did SHIN akuma so this should be no different right ? I dunno feels like Oni is someone new, notice how he has a better version of KKZ from 3rd strike and this ssf4 is ment to be before the events of 3rd strike lool maybe akuma got kkz idea from Oni

Well he does have the beads that Akuma wears, he just tears them off at the beginning of a match. And he has the same voice. The exact same voice. And he has similar moves. And he looks like Akuma. It's a safe bet that he's probably some alternate version of Akuma, like E. Ryu is of Ryu.
yh i think "Hibikster" has the right idea, if you follow the rule of +14 from march 25th or april 8th you get to june 24th which is the release date for AE, i expect something to happen on april 22nd, may 6th, may 20th, june 3rd. my theory is that capcom will release 2 characters on each of those dates bring a total of 8 other characters which reminds me of the japanese capcom site, theres 8 characters missing lool
Not knocking oni or evil ryu cause they designs look cool but does it hurt Capcom to think of new characters?! I mean they tried with yuri and hakan(who I think sucks) Abel was cool and viper,el fuerte was meh and Rufus was WTF. But at least they tried! So how bout at least 2 new characters and 2 new classics from alpha or 3rd strike?!

what? lool he sounds nothing like akuma lool oni's voice sounds warped, he doesn't really look like akuma if you factor in body shape and his face slightly looking ogre-ish, Oni's moves look nothing like akumas, he doesnt even have a teleport, look at evil ryu and Oni gameplay and tell me which one is closer to being akuma
The beads man!!!! Those beads are Gouki's signiture. Thats why the assumption is being made that he is another version of gouki.

if i remember correctly thost beads belonged to his and goukens master so... wouldnt be suprising if some else wore beads lool and erm when did akumas beeads gain the magical ability to glow yellow and float ? lool its a new character, you'll see
i think the only move oni has that is the same as akuma is super: raging demon, Oni's fireballs alone tells me its not akuma lool qcf fireball doesnt reach full screen, qcf fireball (charged) reaches full screen and does 2 hits, hcb firball reaches full screen and gives the electricuted animation on hit much like c.viper's thunder knuckle

Come on, guys. I don't think there's any real merit in comparing the new characters to the old. (If you really think about it Ryu looks a lot like Ken yet is a completely different character.)
However, I think we can agree that, regardless of whether Oni is related to Akuma or Gouken, Oni uses the 'Ansatsuken' style and so falls into the group we lovingly call the Shotos. :)

I'm convinced Oni is Akuma but I wish people would stop calling him "Oni Akuma" too. It's redundant and he was never officially referred to as such.
I'm thinking that Akumas body is being used by an ogre/demon thing and thats why it kinda resembles akuma, but it still has ogreish features, like the bumps on his forehead.

Oni = alt Akuma. I don't care what any nay sayer say. There's a reason why people always mention Akuma whenever Oni is involved.
I believe Capcom used Gouken's character model in order to create a monstrous Akuma. Capcom has a habit of recycling things. To me, Oni is to Akuma and Gouken what Seth is to Urien and Gill in terms of recycled animations.
I'm glad that this is happening so us non-Arcade having types can get our hands on it soon AND this opens up the necessary timeline for a couple more characters (And in the a previous story someone commented SIX possible slots left? I hope so.)

I think Oni is a product of Akuma and Gouken doing a fusion dance. It's rather awesome if you ask me. I'll play ssf4 again when he is available. He's def my main without even knowing the slightest about him.
