EG.Justin Wong recently tweeted a note about SSF4 3DS which was released in North America today.
Guile and E.Honda IMO are the best chars in SSF4 3DS. No charge for Sonic boom and flashkick? Honda hands one touch LOL
Do you think that the Button Mapping system that the 3DS system uses was a good idea for extremely good charge moves or high-priority mash moves? Keep in mind that you can choose whether or not you can fight against Button Mapping players online and leave your comments below.
@1 are you really going to give him flack for that he Wong has shown time in and time out that he knows what he is talking about
played it for a hr didnt like it =/ but he is right guile and honda r Extremely good.
I tried it for a while. Seems good in and of itself, but the controls seem too far removed from even pad PS3/XBOX 360 to enable you to transfer over skills. And with no equivalent of L2/R2 (3 punches/kicks) I don't understand how you can realistically perform ultras without button mapping. Anyone know?
@JasonLee totally agree, but i'd like to take it even further and call even coming up with the sheittyy idea of a handehld fightinggame a fiasco
I don't have SSF4 3D nor a DS but doesn't one touch sonic boom means infinite in the corner? Think about it. Constant booms in the corner. Someone try it out to confirm please.
@RandomJohn No you can't do infinite booms, once you do one you have to wait for it to charge again. I like lite controls though because of the new combo possibilities, ppl can get more creative now. e.g. it's now possible to combo guile's df.hk into sonic boom into super!
Anyway, I think Justin Wong overlooked Balrog, since you can assign TAP punch and TAP kick to two of the buttons, and they will auto-charge from the beginning, no matter what you do. Wait 30 seconds and you are 2 button presses from a KO lol. For more info on 3DS SSF4, go to http://forums.eventhubs.com/viewtopic...
Well you "are" given a choice when you play the game after all. If button mapping is something a player disagrees with, then the simplest solution would be to set your game so that you don't fight people who use button mapping.
People seem to forget that Guile and Honda were already one of the best characters in the console versions.
considering that guile and honda are already some of the best chars in ssf4, this will pretty much make them extremely strong, but we have to keep in mind that other chargers will also get these "buffs" and that you can simply play without that advantage.
I picked Guile to main on the portable. The reasoning is simple: Guile only has 2 special moves and it's really hard to do motions on the 3DS. Button presses are a bit easier to get used to, but's its not as convenient as having all 6 buttons right there on the face of the controller. without a proper joystick to do motions things like ultras and focus attack dash cancels become difficult to nearly impossible without shortcuts.
Capcom knows this, and that's why they've thrown in options like auto guard (you take grey damage if you fail to block). I think this actually makes the game both very accessible and fun, and think all the features were implemented amazingly well.
Shortcuts aren't really a bad thing. I like this version of Street Fighter just as much as the console version. It's lack of controls is properly balanced with it's options. With that in mind, if they would have only re-balanced the game for the 3DS (Guile's auto-charge possibly taking longer, tweak Honda's hands, etc) we would have an amazingly balanced and fair game, suitable for tournament play.
The Lite controls are fine. Some people believe it to be broken, but I think it works fine considering the charge moves actually have to charge on the touchscreen (although they do so automatically). What's really wrong with the moves charging on their own? After all, Ken can shoryuken all day long.

hmmmm ^^ you need to put in what game because. in Sf4 GUILE was TRASH. Honda was MID tier. SSF4 guile/Honda is very good.
in AE ALL Charge character are TRASH.. in general 3/4 of the character are weaker than the top 5. UP hill battle for all the Shiiit list
@21 much as I don't like the 3ds d-pad, it's easy enough to do qcf/hcf/double qcf motions on, same goes for thumb pad. I can even do super jump cancels into ibuki's super and ultra manually, and I'm not a pad player at all on console version
What about boxer's charge punch into ultra 1. Or constant charge punches or charge uppercuts?
also Vega can finally do dp fadc into ultra 1?
While I dont play with in lite mode like Wong apparently does (I play in Pro mode), the same thing happens with all "easy" control methods in fighters.
Its a lot of fun to mash around with the easy-mode controls, though. Zangief becomes somethin' else!

Except when he doesn't know what he's talking about. And it's not just the Adon thing. It's his knee-jerk reactions to every new Capcom fighting game. SSF4 comes out, Adon sucks. MvC3 comes out, you just need Sentinel to win. Now SSF4 3D is out and apparently all you need is Honda or Guile.
Even if months from now Honda and Guile turned out to be the best, I don't think you can really use that as an indicator that Justin knows what he's talking about. The man is already setting up god tier in his head the same week the game comes out. He just did the same exact thing last month.
@ hitstick the adon comment was when before several changes that were made to Adon, NWAndroid he never said anything about Sentinal that was everybody else including Capcom because they nerfed the robot, and I trust the judgement of the most acclaimed fighting game player in the US

The D-pad on the 3DS is good, way better than the PSPs d-pad. The 3DS is the perfect combination of clicky and lose, but it's a + shaped pad. It's not nearly as good as a fightpad that has a round d-pad, or fightstick that has a joystick, for SFIV. It's the best controller d-pad I've used besides those two ideal controls. It's actually better than all previous DS models for comparisons sake.
@Calvinfoo
lawl you have made my day with that silly comment.

He actually tweeted about Sentinel . The whole 7 stages of grief gag is there for a good reason .
And so what if Adon was changed ? He should know better than trashing a character in an early copy . Not to mention the sheer (repeated) arrogance of claiming you've figured a fighting game out so soon in infancy .
He obviously would wipe out most of us , even with one hand :p ... but he's the last person i'd listen at the release of a game .
Aren't you the guy who said Adon sucked?
