A report this morning by EuroGamer through the BBFC, listed Super Street Fighter 4 Arcade Edition having a release date of June 24, 2011 in the United Kingdom.I called the disc release months ago here's to a cut price release
@mark_Morrison. Most ppl played MvC3 for a week after release and returned to SSF4..only pros play it seriously IMHO
FINALLY weve got liftoff. Show some AE el fuerte. I love fighting shotos.
I really really hope this isn't a disc release. Super gave us 10 new characters, a second ultra for every single character essentially reinventing every matchup in the game, and 5 new stages for a discount price. Arcade Edition has... 4 new characters. Arcade Edition needs to be DLC, or they need to give us more content. People were receptive to Super as a disc release because it was actually worth it (as DLC, $5 × 10 = $50 for characters alone¹). Ono mentioned the possibility of DLC and an optional disc release a la Resident Evil 5 Gold Edition that had redeem codes for Arcade Edition characters and every costume.
¹Standard established by Marvel vs. Capcom 3, but probably accurate.
@15: I don't belive Capcom is gonna force everybody to buy a new disc, but giving the option to would be a smart move. If they don't, they're gonna piss off everybody that believed them when they said SSFV was going to be the last SF4 disc.
We know that's most likely not true, but as of now they've got to stick to what they've said UNLESS they're giving a HUGE amount of new content (which we know is not the case of AE).
I'll buy it, disc or not. I've already got a lot of store credit at gamestop from trading in MVC3. I was gonna save that credit for sf x tekken, but depending on how much AE is gonna cost, I might just use it for that. Long live Street Fighter <3
Apparently, on the Japanese AE site, there are 7 possible spaces left for fighters after they just added Evil Ryu. So after Oni, we might HOPE for 6 additional fighters from a disc based version of AE on console. I would not mind that if extra characters were the case....bring on the disc! Of course at a discounted price!
its difficult to get hyped for this, knowing that alot of people playing AE and Ono himself are saying that the twins are kind of OP'd. although it will be day 1 for me.
given that mvc3 cost £10 for two char and the balance patch caused some minor screen freeze issues. So add the four known charcters that we know of thats £20.
It's also likely to be the cut price deal we got for super at £25 so there is no real sense in complaining. Never mind the unkown stuff patches can cause.
The only way I'd buy another disc is if it were no more than £5. Unless they're planning on adding alot more stages, more characters (it's presumed as 8 more additions to the roster) and an even better online mode, then there's no way I could buy that
I'll happily bet that this is a DLC and disc release - DLC online, but also an in-store "install disc" that comes with extras like the new alt. costumes for Yun/Yang/E.Ryu/Oni, themes and gamerpics along with the DLC, very much like EPIC games and the Gears of War 2 all fronts collection and Bethesda and Fallout 3's expansions.
Also, don't get your panties in a bunch! This isn't official yet
i prefer a disc release (you can take the disc everywhere) but in this case will be in two flavors dlc and disc release so is good for everyone. :)
@#2 Mark_Morrison I don't think MVC3 will die, i think once its been patched and word gets out that it is a far more balanced game the hype will revive again, don't forget this game is hyped coz of the legacy MVC2 left behind. Thats just IMO though. I personally love the game and its crazy OTT flashy looks.
@#22 HKsupastar 6 possible spaces left?! If they fill them 6 other spaces then its worth an entire new disc. As for 4 new characters and huge "Balanced/Purposefully Unbalanced" gameplay, its not worth a new disc instead of DLC.
Hope it will be different from the AE???? Just dont wanna play the same thing as arcade because it is arcade. Show some love for the console players other then a release date. Did some one say no nerfs included. (JUST KIDDING)How about more bonus stages and stages as well. Theres two more slots, make it four since theres two ryus and akumas. Maybe alittle more characters. Costumes included, even new ones. Maybe a story challenge mode to unlock more titles and emblems. Oh some returning favorite stages like vegas cage, sagats stage with the goddess statue behind him, hondas sumo bathroom stage, rmikas wrestling ring. Maybe 5 additional taunts, more color unlocks, hopefully a championship mode. I dont think im being to greedy, its just consumer demands since this will be another disc based game and most likely the last. Just saying capcom end it with a huge, enormous bang. Street fighter fan since 1991. My first fighting game was sf1 and sf2turbo. IL gladly pay any price. And thats from the heart. Disc or dlc!
Dont think imma buy these new costume packs since it will most likely be in AE. Just my opinion.
I seriously hope it's a dual release (Disc AND DLC), similar to what Bungie did with Map Packs.. before they started fragmenting Halo on the 360.
It would make sense for people without broadband connections, or people who would prefer to have another fancy looking game case lying around. They could buy their physical copies, and people with no patience such as myself can just purchase it digitally.
If it is indeed going to be a disc only release, then I'll be disappointed. But that's also assuming we're only getting 4 new characters. Capcom is in a good position to pave the road in favor of the consumer on this one.
Valve does a fantastic job keeping TF2 up to date with their business model, and it's still remaining profitable to this day with no signs of stopping. It's a compeltely different game from release at this point, and how many times did I have to buy it? Once.
What about the US? Will the US have a release? This ain't right.
If we got 10 extra characters for ssf4 then we can expect some more! Disc for me if get extra stages, sodom and rolento and ssf4 pricing. Big ups.
Intersting they haven't started hyping AE since Mortal Kombat is looming on the horizon.
It'll be dual. The AE content is small enough to do as DLC, and then they'll have a "Gold" Edition much like RE5 as mentioned above for those that prefer everything on disk.
And those of you thinking we're getting more characters: Stop getting your hopes up. We're not getting any more. Stop looking for things that aren't there, there are no blank character spots on the japanese site. They're just empty spaces and nothing more.
People are saying the Japanese AE site looks to have slots for six additional characters after Oni and E Ryu are included. If those slots are indeed for more characters to come (along with buffs and nerfs), then yes, it's worth putting on another disc. However if it's just the four that are announced / leaked, Capcom is being greedy and stupid to put that little content on a separate disc. It can be easily done like MvC3 on DLing the characters (with a price tag) and patches to correct glitches.
Eh. All I want is the balance changes. I could care less for the characters that I am not remotely interested in. Maybe with the exception of Yang. I don't play shotos. On the other hand if they had Alex or Karin then........ I would be there day 1.
If it's gonna be disc released, they're going to give us more characters and stages and possibly new features. A new disc with 4 new characters is not worth our time or their time because releasing these discs (and the marketing) cost a lot of money. So...if it's disc released, I'm betting besides Yun/Yang/E. Ryu/O. Akuma, we might get 6 additional characters with maybe 3 - 5 new stages.
Now that worth a disc release, otherwise DLC is sufficient. But the more characters that show up, more likely it won't be DLC, because that's a lot of data to transfer. =P
Thing is, if we get something else, what's it gonna be?
In terms of characters, I'd like: Rolento/Karin/Q/Alex/Urien
So if anyone else makes it, I'm betting on some of them.
If it's anything like RE5 Gold Edition, there will be a disk option, and the option to download it as well. Don't get your panties in a bunch folks!
Plus it can also be like Lost Planet Colonies, as it can be labeled as Greatest Hits/Platinum Hits and sold for like $20.
I doubt they will charge a whole $60 or rather $40 for it.
Either way, I'm confident either option will not break the bank.
In addition, Ono mentioned the twins were designed to be overpowered. Well comes DLC AE, I doubt that'll be the case. DLC AE is confirmed to be released at the end of June. By then, which is eight months after its released in arcades, I have a gut feeling the twins will be nerfed. There will be enough complaints to Capcom that the twins will be nerfed. People managed to bi*ch enough to Capcom about Sentinel in MvC3, I'm sure it'll happen to the twins also haha.
@45:
In this case, SSF4 at Evo 2011 will be the same as last year. Daigo ad his Ryu, jwong with rufus, tokido with akuma, etc. The only different is if any of Canada's top players will show up...like air, d-bag jsmasters, etc.
I thought that AE would be a free DLC. If buy a disk release of AE, I'll have 3 versions of the same game. Not this time Capcom.
(Lol, AE not announced for states yet? I guess non-low tier Hakan is still a dream, then.)
They just needa nerf Yun's stupid ex-dash punch. It's a free(well 1 meter, but yun builds so ridiculously fast), and his mediumx3 into dp is too damaging and fairly easy to execute. Yun/Yang need less active frames on their palm, damage reduction too, and maybe a reduction in recovery for the opponent if they get a command grab. Other than that I think just because they are fairly well rounded doesnt mean they need the nerfbat that hard. I would like to main a half-decent Yang when it hits consoles, so nerfing him hard would make me sad :(
(Don't even. My point was, Hakan..if it comes stateside, gets some well-deserved buffs)
I believe Canada/USA will get it on June 21 because United Kindom gets their games 3 days after North America
me too and I agree with you MALDA, Alex needs to be in this game because he is the main character of SF3 series and I'm still interested in who is that
I am a little slow today, is this discussing console AE or UK receiving the actual Arcade Machine for AE. Pardon my ignorance on the subject.
Thanks in advance, all my fellow Sagat players that grinded it out with Gat, it's gonna feel like such a level up for him. Improved all of his tough matches with better TK's and TU. Still gonna have a tough time against Viper, Akuma and Sim. The twins so far can be handled if fought smart.
cvs
I think people are interested in how Alex became the main character for SF3 series instead of it being Ryu
Sh3azu> you are 110% right about that one, I'm still gonna buy it on disc regardless
Hitstick> yes, he(Alex) needs to be in this game
Wait, why are you people even considering buying the AE? Even if the god-tier scrub brothers ARE nerfed, they'll still be the only characters worth playing, thanks to the changes CAPCOM made to everyone else...
I think everyone will agree that the hardcore SF fans will buy this disc-based or DLC-based as long as its priced reasonably close to SSF4.
Now, the real answer is if Capcom is willing to do fans service and give us what we are looking for to fill us up till SFxTekken. SSF4 was an awesome sequel to SF4, but Capcom please give us AE on console with the following:
1) Yun/Yang/Evil Ryu/Oni Akuma
2) Up to 6 more characters from previous SF Alpha and Third Strike editions.
3) "Championship mode" from SF4. That's a instant buy if they bring that back.
4) More stages!!!! Especially homage to the old SF2 ones!
5) Better online play
6) Throw in bonus taunts(11 and 12) and costumes color versions(13 and 14).
7) Event mode like MvC3 with challenges to unlock trophies and special items!
That's a big list, but if Capcom adds all that, I would not hesitate to buy this disc-based at $50..even $60. And I will think most hardcore SF fans would agree with me.
...and of course, another balance to the game to remove the strength of Yun and Yang. And give these nerfs a break!
3) "Championship mode" from SF4. Capcom if your watching give the man what he wants he's on to something
simple question (and Im not gonna look though all the comments to see if it has been answered) If all the balance updates are applied in AE....: Online match: someone who has AE vs someone who didnt buy it....what version will each player be using? Or will the update happen regardless of whether you buy it. because if your only buying the 4 new characters then big deal...
My guess is it will be a $20 dlc release, with a full retail release for those that don't own ssf4 already. I'm not expecting new characters or levels, just some balance updates. While 4 new levels and 2 new characters would be nice, I just don't see that happening in reality.
All i'll say is i told you guys so, i said when ER was 1st ever mentioned that he'd be in. Now my fellow Shotokan fighters, now is the time to take control of everything. Let anything not shoto be eradicated, n thrown into infinite n perpetual anguish with the fact that we are power personified. Let them be overwhelmed n suppressed by the infinite hordes of shotos let them cowardly run as they watch us lay waste to everything. This is the year of the ShotokanS!!!!! LOL shotos4life :)
Disc release needs more content otherwise DLC with a disc release in lines with RE5 Gold Edition. No BS Capcom...Please.
#87 and Swag> Amen, Gallery mode is also important
chunners> same here if they do include Alex into it, I'll make sure I reserve my copy
people need to realize Arcade and console will never be the same...
Arcade is for pro, where the tweak need to be top competitive (it seems capcom overdid it with yun...)
the console version will be way more balanced and i think they are experienced enough now to give us more well-balanced character
I buy "Ultra Street fighter" on disc for 40 bucks :P
like a lot people like to say "its more than a game", 40 bucks for a game you play every day for 1 year... worth it imo
I said this was coming out in june time ago... Take heed when I post.

I enjoy hearing Justin Wong talk about games that have not yet been released such as MVC3 and SSF4AE because the pro's get told things before the public and he always slips up and reveals information.
Yesterday at seasons beatings he said that SSF4AE will be released roughly six months after it's out in December in Japan. So
EXPECT SSF4AE TO BE OUT IN JUNE
or around then and if it doesn't come out in December in Japan expect it to be out six months after whenever it comes out in Japan.
what does this mean?
REALLY A NEW GAME????
or DLC?
MORE INFORMATION!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
