Someone want to explain to me how it's Too-Amine-ish? You're talking about Street Fighter 4 people, the only way it could be anymore amine is if the games story was written by Hideaki Anno. Points to you who know who that is without looking it up.
It looks almost photoshopped or something, maybe I just need to see it in better quality, but I can barely tell where his head is.

@14, I doubt that haha. I feel like Evil Ryu's cons outweigh his pros. Basically Ryu, gave him some Akuma aspects, and slowed him down like crazy. I'm feeling like he's lower mid tier honestly lol
I dont usually use shoto's but i think i will try to actually master one, and that is evil ryu.
U know even in SSF2 in the anniversary edition i was never fond of ryu and ken because they seemed hard to use.
It was only Fei Long, Bison and Sagat that i could use best against the CPU when i started to seriously play SF.
Cant wait for Yang And Evil Ryu for DLC on Consoles because the gameworks down here in seattle is sluffin on the AE machines...IT WAS SUPPOSED TO BE HERE!!

I've been trying evil ryu for the past month or so in my local arcade, and he does have more cons than pros, he dies way too easy, his power is great but against most fighters especially the higher tier ones, he just loses horribly to. Without Demon flip makes it harder to play also, hes basically a fan service character. Oni is much more usable.
btw How do they see the alternate costumes? you can't choose that in the arcade can you?

#27 hes also really good too lol. Just because a couple videos of first time japanese players not using him well are shown, doesnt mean he isnt good. He has one of the best dashes in the game, the hit stun on cr.mk is amazing, and its a good poke. His potential damage off of a cr.mk fireball fadc is insane(minimum 350 damage), two very useful ultras, and even a teleport. I personally think he's a little under top tier, but I haven;t seen how he fairs in every match up yet.

Capcom likes to put certain chars in their ganes to promote something else of theirs. E.ryu was put in becasue he is gonna be in street fighter x tekken so their commercializing him now and getting gamers used to him its how they do most of their games thats why 3 two complelty being unneccassary darkstalkers are in the game cause the director wants people to get back into dstalkers its fckin annoyig but what can u do? Other than buy mk9 which is at a whole new level of beastly
Street Fighters Drawing Style and art design isn't Anime-ish. When someone say's Anime-ish they're expecting tons and tons of over the top and unnecessary clothing with accessories that are usually for something else but they were them casually. All of the original street fighter costumes are very basic and lack the ridiculous flare or complex designs of an Anime like outfit.
If you look at the Street Fighter 2 cast most of them wear just the basics or almost nothing at all. Even in the other Street Fighters most of the characters wear basic outfits to their respective fighting style.. except for a few I'm sure we can name but not many.
If he has an inuyasha color to go with it I'll be sold.

I can't really see the reason to play a shoto with similar stamina to Akuma, but with worse offensive capabilities and mix-up.
I don't understand why people is saying he's terrible. Up to this point, the only people who should have an opinion about him, based on gameplay, are the one's who have or are going to the arcades to play him. So everybody else just get off your periods and shut up.

It helps no one e.ryu as a character is beast becasue the whole existence or purpose of seth,m.bison(other than ruling the world), and akuma are all trying to unleash the power of ryu yet we never get to play as him in evil form or even get to see him...until now e.ryu is a way interesting char than elena,rolento,or karin stop cryin
Even you know that alternate costume design is lame as hell. I don't care about shots being in the game, but make the alt costumes less "shoto".
Also, after playing Evil Ryu in SFA2 and CvS2, he has never been that much different from Akuma. Actually, he has always been worse because his moveset isn't as good as Akuma's. I played with him a little bit when he got unlocked and I formed the same opinion. I don't hate that the character is in the game, but I'll be damned if I play him over Akuma.
Also, name another SF character that has moves similar to Rolento? Maybe Vega if you stretch it? That sounds a lot more interesting than Shoto Mk.5.

I agree 100%, only thing thats really going for him is the bad ass evil look.
I'm glad we have more worthless shotos (worthless because of the scrub brothers) in the game, instead of a character with a unique moveset and Super Combo, like Elena...or Rolento...or one of those EX characters...

-[ Thai Senpai ] I don't give a fawk about what he looks like I'm maining him. I mean I've read most of this and people say oh he's no different then akuma or he's worse but when you think about it.. Dan's a worse version of every shoto but Sunset uses em.. Guy and every grappler is a water downed version of Abel but we all use the others Hence I main T-hawk. I just enjoy Evil Ryu and Street Fighter all together so I don't complain.
Question: Would you rather face 100 Ryu's in a row online, or 50 Ryu's and 50 Evil Ryu's?
As uninspired as the character is, it may be CAPCOM's attempt to add diversity to people's character picks, since it may be the only way to get the Ryu-playing hoard to try someone else...
i wonder wot they have in store for oni's new costume. i dont kno how much more sinister they can make him look.
People will still play Ryu since it is a lot harder to be a scrub with a character that dies very quickly.
Looking forward to playing against some good E.Ryu players. His aura makes him look scary which I like. I've never played 3rd strike but Yun and Yang feel amazing to use. I can't wait for Oni to be released. I'm enjoying SF4 again :)

@38, I assume you've been using him as well. I haven't played him too much, but if your strength is footsies, I think he's really well suited. I think another problem is that people already have a good idea of how to play against a character of his style(even though i think he differs a little) while Yun and Yang are different altogether, which will take adjusting. Regardless though I'll probably be maining him or keeping him as a secondary.

I would probably keep him in my "getting bored winning with main so ill play him/her" pile, I see him more of a failed akuma because as "Darkyellow" said he has worse capabilities and mix up, E.ryu really just gains more strength and more combos, his footsie game isn't that much to talk as its just a little better than ssf4 ryu so in the end he was a waste but I don't really care as long as capcom gives me a mobile grappler other than abel
Oni on the other hand seems like he has some tricks up his sleeve and thats what i'm waiting on, so far Oni seems defensive with a few offensive tricks but i'm hoping he can be aggressive. Oni needs to show me his worth before I can retract the thought of him being a waste lool

I think it's based on the romantized vagabond look of Mas Oyama ... a legendary traveling karate fighter , born korean , and funder of the Kyokushin karate .
Dont forget he was one of the model for Ryu .
It's also the same kind of look you see in the movie "Fighter in the Wind" based on his life .
Capcom:Just slap some hair on Ryu and you have a new alt.
