Multiple users wrote in this afternoon reporting that Event Mode for Marvel vs. Capcom 3 is now available. It's under the Online Menu option for the game, so you must be connected to a network to access it. 1. Event Match 01, Arcade — Finish Arcade with a diminished vitality gauge (final battle excluded).
2. Event Match 02, Arcade — Finish Arcade without using Hyper Combos (final battle excluded).
3. The Road to Victory 01, Online — Win one online match.
4. The Road to Victory 02, Online — Win five online matches.
5. The Road to Victory 03, Online — Win ten online matches.
6. The Road to Victory 04, Online — Win 30 online matches.
7. The Road to Victory 05, Online — Win 50 online matches.
8. Event Match 03, Arcade — Finish Arcade with only Hyper Combos doing damage (final battle excluded).
9. I Got Next! 01, Online — Win two online matches in a row.
10. I Got Next! 02, Online — Win three online matches in a row.
11. I Got Next! 03, Online — Win five online matches in a row.
12. I Got Next! 04, Online — Win seven online matches in a row.
13. I Got Next! 05, Online — Win ten online matches in a row.
14. Event Match 04, Arcade — Finish Arcade mode with normal attacks shaving off vitality (final battle excluded).
15. Event Match 05, Arcade — Finish Arcade with only combos of 5 hits or more dealing damage (final battle excluded).
16. Event Match 06, Arcade — Finish Arcade with a gradually decreasing vitality gauge (final battle excluded).
17. Event Match 07, Arcade — Finish Arcade with only Team Aerial Combos doing damage (final battle excluded).
WTF is this?!?!?!.... we don't pay for this rite??? and whats up with these challenges....
8. Event Match 03, Arcade Mode — Finish Arcade with only Hyper Combos doing damage (final battle excluded)....
Wft!?!?!?
This is stupid. I've already won 50 matches, and I've already gotten a 10 win streak. And do I have to select the win 50 times challenge to get it? And if I get a 10 win streak in those 50 do I not get the challenge without selecting it, losing all of my progress on the win 50?
#8 I have no idea... Morrigan assist spam?!?!
Anyway, I am SO EXCITED for this, MvC3 was nothing to write home about before this. It's the mode everyone was waiting for - who needs those silly replay and spectator modes?!
Capcom, no-one wants or cares about this. Just focus on spectator mode.
@umad
yeah people were complaining about lack of spectator mode, replay mode, and record mode.
And this isn't really a mode, it's just stupid crap that no one will really care for
tbh i would have preferred champs mode or even a mode where everyone is fighting as much as possible switching opponents would have been nice... just seems capcom have made a few errors of judgment
@#17
I thought it was obvious by now that Capcom fans don't know what they want.
[Insult edited out by a moderator.]
anyways.
Obviously these modes are catered towards casual gamers, ande I mean REALLY casual, when they said they were doing some exciting stuff for online I had no idea it was gonna be this lack luster.
This is the same kind of mode you would find in Halo Reach but the best thing about that is it was geared towards points that you ACTUALLY USES! Also you could in most cases take on more than one challange and you did'nt have to do one at a time? I can't do win 5 matches in a row? with win 5 Xbox Live matches at the same time? Thats just dumb.
Cmon Capcom you have COMPETITION NOW you gotta do better than this.
I would'nt mind doing these modes if they were towards some good unlocked content like costumes or something. Titles and Icons are whatever really.
nice, finished events 1 and 2. can't wait for more news this coming Capcom Captivate. here's hopin for more DLC goodies to come
And this is why I quit playing this game. Crapcom isn't gonna do anything useful to improve the game. At least not until SMVC3
i'm so pissed at mvc3 now...online is so bad i can't block anything and i almost ragequit the first time ever...but then i decided not to and instead play some SSF4 again (didn't play it since MvC3 release) and guess what i lost ALL of my skill i absolutely didn't know what to do, i celebrated when i managed to tech a throw
so basically MvC3 i can't play without smashing either my stick or my face against the wall after a few matches, and SSF4 i suck now
....black ops, here i come :*(
the game has been out for little over a month and has had a costume dlc, 2 characters for dlc, 1 patch(sent nerf, glitch fix, and event mode patch. for a fighting game that has been out for 1 month and 11(?) days I think it's getting attention.
I'm gna be patient(remember when people knew how to be patient and this virtue still meant something?)and just relax. As for me, gna enjoy my Friday, go out later tonight have a few cold ones and just relax.
This is free so some of the complaints here are over the top I'd say. Capcom wants to keep building hype for the game so putting out new modes for free after release is doing it.
Peeps complaining about something that's free to them and shows Capcom cares enough to keep updating their title... at no charge. Stay classy community, stay classy.
@umad
People have a right to complain, this game still lacks good game modes. At least Mortal Kombat got creative this time around. Shadow Mode and Event Mode don't really feel like true game modes even if they have the word "mode" Shadow Mode feels like a simmer down training mode, and Event mode is just trophies or achievements. A survival mode similar to Dead or Alive's survival mode would of been better. Even 1 vs 1, or 2 vs 2 Computer Vs option would of been better than Shadow Mode and Event Mode.
For people ranting about spectator mode... do you ever read this site? There's been multiple articles here saying spectator mode wasn't easy to do like they thought it would be. If it's going to happen it will happen later on down the road... if Capcom's programmers can figure out a way to pull it off. Looking at this mode it's just an extension of achievements and was probably easy as hell to do cause the framework was already there.
@WrathOfBanja
I completely agree, I think that's what they are doing. Make you upset about what you get, then come out with an updated version to make you buy the new one.
@35
Yeah it's free alright, but the point is it should of been there already, and the game didn't have what was expected already either. Capcom made it sound like something special which is where the true disappointment came from. It's like don't hype something that's going to disappoint. It was probably better to not even have those free modes like that because people are not looking for that.
This is just another stupid attempt by Crapcom at trying to get people to forget about Spectator Mode.
Some people are saying that Capcom isn't fixing spectator mode because they can't. I think that's bullsh*t. Capcom is just not choosing to fix it so they can release Super MVC3.
free update? time to watch hordes of people bitch about it. these updates take time and money to do from capcom they don't have to do this and maybe they'll stop if the complaints keep up.
i will say it since so few people seem incapable of expressing any kind of gratitude or appreciation for things they are given for free.
thanks for the update capcom its something new to play around with and enjoy.
@Struggs
I never, ever say this, but for once it's true: I don't think these are 'free updates' in the true sense; rather, they are likely parts of the game that were scheduled to be included at launch but Capcom didn't have time to include (possibly because of pressure from Marvel to get it released well in advance of the new movies they are releasing?).
I could live without spectator mode, but replay mode would be fantastic. I enjoy watching good players game play this game more than I enjoy playing it myself (I'm rubbish at it), so replay mode would be getting a lot of love from me.
@36
they're modes just like survival/time attack mode so what's your point? 1, 2, 8, 14-17 looks like different 'modes.' so they put in modes and people still complain. so you would be happy if they updated w/ survival/time attack? did people even play those in SFIV? they took out that crap in SSFIV cause no one even played them. probably won't play this crap also, but it's more 'modes' for people that want more modes.
Relax. I'm sure they're working on spectator mode. I personally have not experienced much lag. This is just one more thing I can complete. Damn, you people just complain all the time. You're lucky Capcom even bothers to patch that up when you whine like that. You already bought the game, what more do they need? Shut it and be patient. You don't like Event mode? Express your disinterest in an appropriate fashion and shut the hell up. Freakin' nerds.
@50sent
what? are you missing a chromosome or something? everyone uses specator mode in ssf4 in lobby rooms
It's really funny that these people are bitching about free content... I guess it is true: Capcom fans don't know what they want nowadays.
No offense, but you guys really know how to cry whenever things don't go your way... like little kids.
@50cent
You don't use spectator mode, it is a part of the online game system. If you go into a lobby before a match starts and two people are ahead of you and the game goes into play you will enter spectator mode and start watching them play.
Apparently a lot of people here don't even know what Spectator Mode truly is. It's not even a mode it's just a feature gutted into the system by nature. Which in this case for MvC3 it was not.
Well, I finished the arcade-based Events pretty quickly. I actually would've liked Event Mode okay if the win-based ones stacked, but they don't. I honestly never imagined I'd be bored with MvC3 5 weeks after launch. At this point, the only thing that will keep me from fully moving on to Mortal Kombat is Spectator Mode.
Even though I'm disappointed in MvC3 in certain aspects, it's still an amazing game. Thanks for creating it, Capcom.
...knew it was stupid of me to get excited over this.
I wanted Capcom to be creative, and make this something like SSB's event mode. You know, actual EVENTS? I wanted to have characters with history fight under special conditions, or at least just fight under special conditions. Why are these all just Completing Arcade mode multiple times and getting win streaks online? I was really looking forward to see what Capcom would do with this. But as others have said, these are all more like conditions to get trophies rather than actual events.
What's next? Are they going to put in a car bonus stage and consider IT a big, important new mode? I am so tired of the way Capcom tries to get people hyped over things they know aren't exciting in the slightest...
ok guys 50sent wasn't trolling he just didn't know what we meant by spectator mode. sorry bout the accusation, sent, it sounded like you were trolling
really Capcom?
after 2 months you ask people to win 1 match online and other stupid stuff like that? not only that it's pointless, but it's too late.
this crap would've been cute on launch, but now it's just making you look like morons overlooking the real problems with the game: the horrific online experience.
cramming a bunch of sh*t in the Online menu (totally unrelated to Online - AI battles and glorified achievements) doesn't make this game fun...
How about in misson mode we get a demo option. 2. how being able to wacth matches. 3. Balance and add more characters I WILL PAY CASH FOR MORE CHARACTERS!!!!
the most important thing is to somehow make the online more fluid...even matches with no big lag it's hard to block right because it's such a fast paced game
spectato mode would be nice but it's not soo bad without it, i'd rather play good matches myself then to watch other people play laggy ones while i wait to play my laggy match
50 Titles!? Dang, looks like I'm gonna be quite busy.
I swear you guys complain about EVERY SINGLE THING. Omfg I've never in my life seen a community filled with a bunch of whiney ass people! Jeez the content was FREE! Yeah it might of sucked, but atleast you didn't have to pay for it. Would you have liked it if you payed for this? God, I'm sorry to say this but the fighting game communitity is filled with people who can't make up their minds, and when something doesn't go their way, they whine and moan! God damn, can't you be happy that they atleast pay attention to their fans somewhat? I have yet to see a comapany that does the things capcom does, but the community is so horrible, I don't know why they do it. Yeah they make bad choices from time to time, and they can get bad with DLC and etc, but atleast they are doing this for the FANS, somewhat. Just be freakin hapy about the litle things, LIke "Hey, atleast I didn't have to pay for this"
My personal recommendation for Capcom:
Add a "Versus CPU" in Offline, then have story based/restricted Event matches with fixed settings/characters. I'm all for replay value, but playing Arcade Mode multiple times gets redundant. I can easily cheese Arcade with Sentinel, Easy, High Damage, so I find these Events to be rather pointless in terms of a challenge.
I don't mean to come off as an unappreciative prick, but I must admit these Events came off as underwhelming.
@73
Doesn't matter if it's free or not if it still sucks, especially something that should be free in the first place
Anyways, don't like to be associated with the whiners on Eventhubs but a lot people here have a point
Capcom hype this game up like crazy as if they've been working their asses off, then hand out some unfinished, half-assed title, still getting modes it should've had at launch, a crappy ass netcode and no option to select players based on their ping which makes the game near unplayable, lack of decent modes online or offline (I don't give 2 ****s about their excuses, if you ain't gonna have spectator, don't have lobbies, simple), DLC that's already on the disc and charging for silly stuff like costumes which only come in a single colour
The way they've handled everything so far has just been too sloppy, and I'm not gonna be some Capcom fanboy and say that they are doing a great job just because we get a couple free modes
/rant
I like the event mode its cool free content but I reckon they could have done more like "Your defence is raised by 300%! Fight the Weapon X subjects...at the same time". Here you would have all 3 of them on the level at the same time and you have to defeat them.
"X-men,Brohterhood...UNITE! Defeat Mango Sentinel" Mango Sentinel will have increased health, be much faster than regular Sentinel, have hyper armour on all normals.
Im sure capcom is going to include events like this in the future
@79
See his is the problem with the fighting game community today.
"Doesn't matter if it's free or not if it still sucks, especially something that should be free in the first place"
Who in the hell said ANYTHING has to be free?? This is hard work and money on THEIR part, you think they are getting any sort of money giving out free modes? They DON'T have to do any of this, the could of released the game and left it alone and so called "unfinished" after that. They didn't HAVE to release Jill and SHuma,they didn't HAVE to add Costume packs. On the disc o not You have no right to declare whats free or not and you just sound like a spoiled brat, like most of the fighting game community. Also, this net problem that everybody has been having, I haven't had ANY major problem. and you want to see bad net coding? Look at tekken, try to play a mathh there.
and this is y this edition should have been there from the start most of this stuff ive done already they have taken acheivments and put them into titles i mean win ten in a row or play fifty matches wow i dont mind the ones in arcade but still i have beaten arcade with all characters and it doesnt even let u upload scores so meh next outing better be grand
@85
No they didn't have to, but considering they are, they obviously feel as if the title could do with a bit more weight to it. I don't see too many other developers just adding in more modes for no reason.
That's besides the point though, adding free modes doesn't excuse the game from being a poor overall product. You seem to think because they gave us some free mode that they should be devoid of any criticism. Sorry for sounding "spoiled" but considering I bought the game with my own money, I think I'm entitled to say where they screwed up, and instead of fixing or even addressing these problems, they hand us stuff that was meant to be in the game from day 1. I just find it a bit silly as all
As for the netcode, it's pretty poor, lags like crazy and input delay hits me ever other match. If you're talking about Tekken 5: DRO then yeah that netcode is just as bad, but Tekken 6 got mad improvements after they patched it, doesn't matter though, as long as you can check someone's ping before you confirm to play them, T6 will always have the better online, and that game has spectator, like every other fighter with lobbies this gen
@87 I never said you couldn't critise, if you think the game is bad okay, but demanding what should be free or not isn't your choice or not, and they did not have to do any of this. Yea the event mode sucks, but hey, atleast it is free.
And I've had more solid matches then laggy ones. So I don't know what to tell you guys about that, give them some time to patch it like thy did tekken
Thank you #87
That is exactly how we as consumers deserve to feel in response to the quality of the product. In different ways, I almost want to compare this game to kof12 in terms of missing game features at launch. While I do love the core gameplay, overall the package does not offer a compelling single player or online experience. Blindly not critiquing a product is ignorance. I hope capcom continues to flesh out their product, and I'm thankful for when they do, but I'm not pleased as a consumer when given misguided hype. The Event Mode DLC was hyped as a package that isn't as exciting as it's living up to be.
Anyways, hopefully capcom will continue their work on MvC3 to create a better overall experience.
How DARE you, Capcom! Where do you get off releasing a completely free, completely optional update to a game?! The NERVE of some people. These people need replay mode to stroke their oh-so-fragile egos!
to the idiots calling us whiners: we payed for the game. the game obviously was rushed and lacks standard features. you'd expect a game newer than SSF4 to incorporate the same kind of stuff at least.
you are the idiots setting for less that Capcom tries to fool with these "free" gimmicks.. enjoy your crippled-ass games
@Aqua
Instead of whining why don't you send capcom a well developed messag statin why you have a problem, but I doubt they'll listen. I'm happy with the game, I don't need all of those feature that I would BARELY ever use, even though Spec mode would have been fine, but I'm not going to die every second about it. I'll enjoy it without you bro
@DarkCyclone
I agree 100% with you. People think we should be grateful to Capcom for this rubbish? When they cynically released a game that clearly hasn't received the polish prior to release that SSFIV has? Sorry, I don't buy it.
I refer you to my earlier comment (#44).
"I don't think these are 'free updates' in the true sense; rather, they are likely parts of the game that were scheduled to be included at launch but Capcom didn't have time to include (possibly because of pressure from Marvel to get it released well in advance of the new movies they are releasing?)."
Sooo you would rather pay anther 40 dollars for the same game with a few extra modes and a couple of extra characters with some game play patches or recieve the patches and modes for free VIA download and only pay for the characters and customes? It you add up both Super Street fighter 4 and Regular S4, you've already shelled out 100 dollars, and that isn't with the other DLC? And like i've said before, they did not HAVE to release this, they're job was finished after they released the game. And if you think the game is so bad then just don't buy it or sell it.
Even SFIV was a lot more polished than Marvel is. Come on man, do you really think the game is 100% finished? That they were satisfied that what they released was the best they could do? Or did they decide that is was 'good enough' to be released and finished with patches?
Don't turn what I said into an absolute. I like the game and am glad that they released it. I just wish they had released a finished version. I agree though, they have their $$ from sales and could just say 'Right, that will do, now let's milk them with more costumes'. So I suppose I am kind of grateful that they are trying to make up for not releasing a finished game.
Pointless fluff in a fighting game, is exactly that. Pointless fluff. The meat and potato's will always be the core player vs player experience whether its local versus mode with friends or online.
I really hope you guys do your homework on things like MK9. The tower gimmick may sound good but the MK series has notoriously hidden weak/shallow game play behind gimmicks and gore. All the "modes" in the world wont make it more rewarding or fun in that case. I hope im wrong.
@73 Random hating doesn't only concern the gaming community(ies), believe me. The people using the Android platform, which is completely free, are now sh!tting on them because the newest free version is not what they expected. Again, the people at Android are basically working for free, for ungrateful imbeciles who are too used to be spoonfed with every aspect of their lives. Did I mention it was all FREE?
Imagine what people can do when they have spent their money...
on the issue of spectator mode in my opinion its ok without only due to the fact that they cant see ur playstyle before u they come in works for this game were randomness rules and no matter how skilled u are something can mess u up but its totally needed for street fighter definitly with the skill level allot higher than this so i would like spec mode but dont need it
More details coming soon...
