Capcom: Requests for Darkstalkers hit 100,000, more needed

According to statistics being kept by Capcom, the campaign to have a new Darkstalkers title made has attained 100,000 signatures, Yoshinori Ono told EuroGamer recently.

Unfortunately, Capcom has asked for one million signatures to get the title green lit, so there's still a ways to go before it's approved for a new entry in the franchise.

Ono added this bit on the process.

"One day, if it goes half a million, Capcom may raise its eyebrow a little bit and I could do what I did in London in 2007 when I announced the comeback of Street Fighter [4].

"In the near future, with your help, it may become true. It's on its way, because we're pretty much where we were with Street Fighter a few years back. So keep it up."

Then u can see from there how many people truly want it, and act from there.

Don't we have enough fighting games, Ono? We're still waiting on SF4: Arcade Edition to hit consoles, MvC3 just came out, 3rd Strike is on the horizon, and so is Street Fighter VS Tekken, a game that YOU are working on. We've got plenty. If you REALLY want to make another fighter, give us Capcom VS SNK. Darkstalkers is dead and with good reason. Sure, there's a small group out there that still like it, and that's great, but SF is the king. There's no reason to waste time making "that other Capcom fighting game" when they could just give us more SF

@3 I read that average development costs for a multi-platform game are in the neighborhood of 18-28 million, so they would have to sell way more than that just to break even.

At this point I think people would be happy with a graphically updated Vampire Savior with netplay/replays/lobbies. They don't even have to do the graphical update, either.

They wouldn't even have to rebalance it, with how people reacted to the HDR/Marvel 2/3S Dreamcast Version/CvS2 EO rebalances.

Would that cost a lot?

difficult to get hyped for a new darkstalkers- already alot of good fighters/ updates on the way: SSF4AE, SF3, Tekken Tag, SF x Tekken, Tekken x SF. Not to mention MvC3 just came out and MK is coming.

the field is looking pretty saturated.

I won't go as far as too say I prefer Dark Stalker since I don't but I would love to see a new one. Why not? Seriously the more fighters out there the better is how I see it not just Capcom, I don't mind seeing more fighters and weeding through the ones I like and don't like as much.

Oh my god, I agree so much. Darkstalkers has such a colorful cast of characters paying homage to legends/novels/films, and representatives of the series end up being the boring scantily-clad girls. I'm surprised Hsien-Ko even made it into Marvel 3, at least she's interesting. I'm so sick to death of Morrigan, Lilith, and Felicia.

@23 Capcom Unity knows that trick and it will ultimatly not count. They can check your IP and such for stuff like that if im not mistaken. Don't risk gettin banned for stuff like that. Capcom-Unity is a good site.

That being said, I don't want a DS4 personally, although if it were to happen I'd probably buy it. Not on launch, but I'd get it someday. To say the very least, I agree with the people who are talking about the HD remake of DS3.

Why should they care? Fun Factor and the technicality of fighting games nowadays.

MvC3 and SF4 isnt beating anything out, since those games are getting boring. They have too many fighting games that are still be played to this day, so at most they should re-release those games on PSN and XBLA. a new game? nah not so much. Im pretty sure they will add x factor to darkstalkers, so no thanks

Darkstalkers brought about almost all of the conventions that are taken for granted in Capcom's current fighters. It also was fun to play, had interesting characters, and was very deep.

I play it because it has Monsters, has what MvC took from it and made famous, Giant Killer BEES (She's my main, too), amazing levels, awesome music, PYRON, that bastard Jedah...

The series is awesome. Oh, and I almost forgot about Huitzil/Phobos! The guy who should of gotten in MvC3 with Nimrod and fought against Sent! It would have rocked :3

1) I love me Vampire Savior.
2) I play it on MAME and the PSP version for the go.
3) I don't play on GGPO, nor does EVERYONE in the world know about it.

I can bet at least 90% of everyone else is almost exactly like me. Just because the GGPO room is empty, does NOT mean "Oh, it's not as popular as everyone says it is."

1) I've been playing Morrigan and Felicia in MvC2.
2) Morrigan in TvC
3) My main team was Morrigan, Felicia and Hsien-Ko at one point in time for MvC3, now down to just Morrigan.
4) I use Morrigan in CvS and CvS2 for the hell of it.

Trust me, I'm dying for a Darkstalkers 4, and I can put money ALOT more than 100,000 people are, too.

Darkstalkers is a game series that's last real installment was 1997. And a LOT of it's elements were transfered to other Capcom fighters, like the V-Ism in Alpha 3 I'm sure is related to coming from Vampire Savior, Air Combos, Dashes basically, and more than one Super Combo.

for a genre that is so underrated and unpopular its amazing to see people who love said genre bash a game thats part of it. we dont have a lot of fighting games on the way, just more street fighter and tekken. we should be taking all we can get. thats the only way for the genre to grow into something more than just a niche. I'm personally dying for another game, will it happen? probably not but i hope I'm wrong

Many pros play because its new, so they gotta jumpstart the metagaming for the noobs so they could act like pro comboers. Then we would wait for another game to come out and its like "oooh i cant wait to see the new fighters(mind you, the characters came out like 14 years ago)", the beef, the crap.

Capcom just like to oversaurate the market with fighting 'stuff', and im tired. No Tech Romancer 2? PowerStone 3? Breath of Fire? A new awesome original series that caters to the old, so we could move on and recycle OLD MATERIAL and DREAM PROJECTS?

No wonder why Keiji Inafune left Capcom.

I am so looking forward to another darkstalkers. I really love the series. The art direction, the music, the mechanics. A lot of mechanics that have since, become a mainstay for capcom fighters. We should take that in consideration. Also, I would argue that fighters are capcoms' main source of revenue. Prior to streetfighter 4, Capcom seem to have really given up on the community. Fast forward a couple of years, and now we have SS4,SFAE,MVC3,SFIII ONLINE EDITION... One could argue that they are 'milking' the franchises, but I don't agree with that sentiment. Every time I look at MVC3 I am amazed at the detail of the characters, banter (big comic fan), and other nuances that will go unnoticed to the casual observer. The same can be said about SS4. All in all, DARKSTALKERS will be amazing.

PS3 and 360are americas console choice but in japan its the Wii. If it goes out on all consoles, they get money and we get the game.

later if an "ultimate" or upgraded version comes out, the WiiU can be included due to built-in HD
