Capcom vice president, Christian Svensson, and special adviser, Seth Killian, hosted a live question and answer session via the Unity website. They talked about a number of subjects related to their fighting games, among other things.
In before all the ungrateful gits come in. Can't wait for Third Strike news :D
Can someone ask them specifically which Marvel characters surprised them and how? (ie: cuz they were too high or too low on the list)
@4
That's because they've answered the Darkstalkers 4 question umpteen times alreaady. I think even in the last Ask Capcom, Why would they answer the same question twice in a row?
@4 I think it should also be noted that there has been no official announcment about a Darkstalkers 4 so there is nothing to really answer except they are not working on it.
Asking mass questions about Darkstalkers 4 is not automatically gonna make it appear. They know people want it. As they said many times their staff is busy with other projects at the moment.
Man, a lot of people are really sarcastic and douchey about Event Mode, but I love it. I already completed all the missions and I would love more challenges. It gives me something to do when I'm not in the mood for ranked and my friends aren't around.
eventhubs come for the best sf news stay cause of the pictures of akuma pissing himself :P
no new chars in sf3 oe http://www.eventhubs.com/news/2010/de...
Can't wait for the 3S:OE news. Really hoping for a very small rebalance, not because I think Yun and Chun are broken or too cheap, but because if the games competitive scene gets revived I dont want to see just those two in every tournament.
I love that Mr. Svensson is swedish lol.
Pretty high on that Hierarky list no ? =D
besides from new characters i dont know what could make me wet my pants about sf3oe.
come on capcom, you guys know what people want, spectator mode for mvc 3, nerfing sentinel to dan standards so people stop having nightmares with that dude and info on the AE for consoles (maybe with a patch that brings yun to a less s-tier level)
one of those three is just what i want.
MVC3: TOURNAMENT EDITION
completely remove sentinel and phoenix from the game, make it to where xfactor is only ever lv1, you can activate it in the air, and it bursts you out of a combo like in blazblue.
i would pay an additional $60 for that update.
^^ okay Troll newb. stop acting like sentinel and phoenix on Xbox live is even good. i have beaten so many sentinels team out there i dont think hes not even good at all beside his Asst. and Jean Grey.. i havent seen much at all.
I really dont think these opinion of pros even applies to Xbox live players at all.
Not to rain on the Spectator Mode parade...
There is an interview on EventHubs from March 6th with Marvel vs. Capcom 3's producer, Ryota Niitsuma. Here is a quick cut and paste from that interview:
Ryota: "We threw in all the elements including ranking match, free match, rankings and the lobby, but we couldn't add in a spectator mode.
4Gamer: "Was it because of technical issues?"
Ryota: "That's correct. This title is a 3-on-3 and the game speed is very fast, so the volume of communication data is larger than in SSF4. Even if we added in all those kinds of systems, they'd be no good if the matches were full of lags.
4gamer: "Looking at it from the outside, we'd assume that throwing in the mode would have been easy since you guys have already done that in SSF4, but it's apparently not."
Ryota: "No. But I thought so in the beginning too (laughs)."
Anyway I just thought to repost this because it would seem that many people had questions about it.
@30 and yet they added simulated lag.... Let that one sink in.
Wow video not working for me... except for the commercials. "Ya'll come down here to the gulf and eat some shrip".
*shrimp... anyways. I can deal with having no spectator mode. While those license cards are humping you can smoke a cig or grab a brew from the fridge. :) I just want the ranked matches system to work a little bit more like SSF4.
Sentinel really isn't that bad. So many characters in the game that can counter him.. like my whole team (Mor/Cap/Dorm).
Looks like I was right about the Event titles. As for 3S OE, online training mode. I got $5 on it. What else could this revolutionary feature be?
I'm sarting to become a little doubtful in capcoms other titles. Like, there are so many good games that they could rebuild or reboot, that have a good fan base. Like Dino Crisis.
and I'm starting to see them moving into different things and that's great for growth but at the same time, It hurts to see another company capture the essence of a series or genre alot better than what the main company has done.
Had I have not known any better I would have said that Dead space two was Capcom made based on how well they did justice to the fear factor aspect of their game play.
However, that isn't the case and it's a shame to know that in it's latest release Re5 had zero element of fear in it.
Exactly what IS event mode I wonder, Its probably challenges they want you to do in different battle situations, like Smash bros. Melee and Brawl perhaps?
SF3 by far had the most pathetic cast of characters, just "hip" music...doesnt even feel like a street fighter game, and the poor sales proved that!
I played MvC3 offline with about 10 people today. We were all good so watching and cheering made the games even more hype.
I realize just how bad this game is online without spectator mode. And until they fix it, it'll never be a very popular game.
@40 I agree about the cast it was sh*tty! My guilty pleasure is the music though lol as bad it was. The problem with 3rd strike was they changed it up so much and didn't market it right so a lot of sf fans where like WTF ?! It was for the diehard crowd. Me personally 2nd impact>3rd strike.
Also, poor sales proves only a few things.
- Arcades were dying at that point and not a lot of people knew about SF3.
- The game is for people willing to learn the intricacies of it and it's not for scrubs who aren't willing to put the time and effort into those things.
- The series was only available on one console for 3-4 years and even then that console died within a few years.
There are more but I can't be bothered. Tired of the herp derping that goes along with SF3 haters.
SF3's sales is a combination of poor marketing and a higher barrier to entry, and they already know this. I don't think they plan on making a ton of money off the game, because only certain people can actually do well in it. That doesn't make it a bad game, it means the game has a "niche," a set target that it has its eye on. SF4 targets five year olds to pro players, so of course it'll have massive sales.
Just like Battle Field won't outsell Call of Duty, for similar reasons.
@Combo_Knight: That's because fear in a survival-horror game requires atmosphere, which requires you put a certain amount of time into the game before the element builds up. I've played every main Resident Evil game and I know exactly what you mean. They stripped out all the atmosphere in five and made it mainstream. Their goal was to make a lot of money off RE5, but not to make it a great RE game. If you look at the latest DMC game you'll see that point as well.
How sad it is that their only adding this event/challenge mode just to try and compete with the challenge tower that MK9 is bringing to the table.
SF3 fans will wet themselves over anything.
(Also, I love how they're so desperate for nostalgia, they don't want even a token rebalancing.)
It would be cool if we got some old stages from 2nd impact. I like some those better then some in 3rd strike.
Also, if would also be cool if they do what they did with Hyper Street Fighter IV, and HD Remix, where you can pick which version of a character to use as well.
THAT would make me wet my pants.
@malda WTF 3rd strike best fighting game lmao. F*ck out here! You can can count by hand who like 3rd strike around the world. 3rd strike almost killed the street fighter franchise. Look how long it took em to put out part 4! Parrying and a WTF cast of characters nobody gives a sh*t about is what brought this game down. 3rd strike is very over rated even though I do like it. 4 bought back cast favorites and made things simple so everyone can enjoy it. hands down alpha 3 is better than 3rd strike IMO.
It's def not for everyone I do like it though I don't hate the game I owned 3rd strike on dreamcast, street fighter 3 double impact on dreamcast and the anniversry edition on ps2. It just wasn't the best street fighter or fighting ever. Best looking 2-D fighter yes though
I don't get the character argument since at the end of the day there were just the top 3 being abused most of the time.
I think sfa3 was a solid and probably a better game then 3rds. But 3rds was a competitive and fun game as well. The only crazy thing i didnt like was parrying supers and ultras. Thats ridiculous, even when i saw daigo do that to wong. I think sfa3 was known because it was on the ps1, plus arcades i think. Dreamcast was a money chaser trying to survive against ps1 and nintendo 64. Then got annihilated when ps2, xbox and gamecube came out. Dreamcast couldn't get alot of companys to make really good games that much for them since sony, nintendo and the new fonded xbox was created back then. Its all about who can make a better system and have as much exclusive games as well. Its all about money which dreamcast didnt have. Unfortunately sf3rds was created for that system and wasn't really known, thats why it didnt sell plus the arcade scene was dying so thats why it didn't get any recognition. When it hit on the ps2/xbox with sf anniversary edition people started playing that like crazy. I know i was. Just my opinion tho.
Malda I'm dead serious I don't d*ck ride the same game 99% of people in this website and other forums do. Alpha 3 was a better game hands down. Better cast and so much more to mix and match the isms and see which one suits your character better. As oppose to yun, chun and Ken matches in 3rd strike.
sf 3rds im maining ryu,ken and chun. what!!!!!!!!! theres over half a million players maining them. F#(X that, im going back to alpha3. outdated or not.(laughs himself to death in the background)died smiling.
how about yun, urien and akuma?(JESUS)them to.[$H!T!!!!!] (JESUS) stay dead, 3rds is for shotos, chun, and the twins. [nnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo oooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo]
hey they have sfa3max in heaven. WHAATTTT????? but i can only play yun,dan and chun.Jesus am i in hell???(JESUS)who ever said all the characters were playable.[okay maybe i should of prayed for you more often] (JESUS) Now you know.
jdigitalseven
What's wrong with the music in 3rd Strike? I don't know about you but I prefer it to that techno bullsh|t in SF4. Now gameplay, on the other hand...I would understand. The parry system completely destroys other variable strategies or characters who are built around said strategies. I can only wonder how my dude Vega would fair in SF3 or even Gen and Dhalsim.
@61
Opinions are stupid (sarcasm)
Yeah I like Alpha 3 more myself mainly because of the cast and varied tier list when its isolated by ISMs but liked 3S for its smoother controls and the more refined juggle system.
As a 3s player believe me when I say the only thing that the 3s community actually cares about is that it be arcade perfect and have lagless netplay. Nothing special, just the exact same game is all I want. PS2 version is far from perfect and so is GGPO. I'll pay easily $60 or more for that. I love this game to death
I hope it would be similar to ssf4, ranked, lobby, title and spectator mode wise only. I think it could work. Now that would make my pants wet. IL even give ssf4 & mvc3 a rest. Even one or two more new characters. Now thats awesome. I hope its not like hdr??? This will be something i would spend all my time learning on.
From both watching the latest tourney streams and playing online myself, I think the whole sentinel thing has been well exposed by now and not the raging terror everyone thought he was 3 weeks ago. Quit bitching bout him already and learn to play the game. Same with phoenix. it's just taking people more time to figure out how to get around her. Some things have already been shed to light such as command grabs canceling her transformation. Game is still relatively new and people would rather whine for capcom to "fix" things to their liking instead of figuring out this stuff on their own. And if two characters out of 30+ ruin the game for you, go play something else.
And yay for event mode. Something new to play with.
Oh yipee, the MvC3 patch is for Event Mode instead of things we actually need. How exciting.
