Siliconera broke an interesting story which may have confirmed that Arcade Edition content for Super Street Fighter 4 will indeed be heading home to the consoles.Korea’s Game Rating Board rated Super Street Fighter IV Arcade Edition with Capcom Korea listed as the publisher. What’s interesting about the rating is Super Street Fighter IV Arcade Edition was actually rated twice. Capcom Korea usually does this for PS3/Xbox 360 multiplatform releases such as Marvel vs. Capcom 3, Resident Evil 5 (listed as Biohazard 5), and Super Street Fighter IV (the regular version). In the case of PC ports, like Dead Rising 2, Capcom Korea files three ratings.
Captivate, Capcom’s press gathering, is just a few weeks away and that would the perfect time to officially announce Super Street Fighter IV Arcade Edition, if it’s in the pipeline.
Tip from Bluth53, Tanoris and L___E___T.
That took a while. Wonder if/how they'll tag a DLC price to Lee twins and E.Ryu/Oni.
dlc or disc release i dont care either way i just want new characters and just MORE ssf4 :D
I can't WAIT for Yun to run unstopped through every match online!
He's such a likable character, with a unique moveset to boot!
#12 cool story bro. I'm sure Capcom will be devastated to here that.
I'd love a disc release. We'll get more for our money. It means even more characters, levels and tweaks.
Plus, people will buy Cod and Madden full price every year but they won't pay $40 for a game with infinite replay value and roster, level, options and gameplay changes that ACTUALLY update the way the game is played? If you argue a disc release you don't care about SF OR you don't understand the limitations of DLC. For it to be worth it, it would have to be mandatory updates and if that's the case, just do DLC anyway.
if its a disc im not buying. i want dlc. on ssfiv they said "the ultimate version of sfiv is here" so i spent money. if it turns out i was mislead and lied to, i wont be conned into buying the same game again. i love ae, but a ssf4 disc is what i already have
OK I'll put it this way with SSF4 we got 10 new characters, 5 new stages, bonus stages and an improved online all for 40 bucks thats worth my money and shelf space. If AE gets a disc release then thats just 4 new characters and a slightly altered ultras nothing else. Now I would buy the characters if they were DLC for about 5 dollars each and the changes in commands can be done via patch but to charge 40 bucks just that much more for so little change is just stupid.
@12
Hell im done with SF4 "now" lol.
F**k the SF4 series & the people that play it imho.
Plenty other fighters are coming out besides 3rd Strike Online Edition (Which HALLELUJAH "WAS" complete) that are "FUN" & "COMPLETE" (hint : Capcom cant make complete fighters anymore) such as Soul Calibur 5 , Tekken Tag 2 , Tekken 7 , "Tekken" X Street Fighter , Dead or Alive 3D , & Mortal Kombat 9.
People need to snap back into reality , realise there are more rewarding games that honor their purchase & quit wasting cash on these sequels.
Enough of that bulls**t. We in a recession. Dont nobody got time for these games Capcom wants to play.
Disk or not im getting it as long as they do more balance changes and balance Yun out. SSF4 series has a good thing going with its balance lets not have Yun mess it up. Patch HIM!!
I'd much rather have a disk release than DLC, why?
Because the game already takes freaking ages to check for DLC on startup!
Man, some of you guys are delusional. Where does everyone get the idea that we might get a disc release? Sven already said there won't be another disc release of any version of sf4. Say what you will about Ono, but Sven has so far been true to his word. The SF team is working on SFxT, they don't have time to please all the cries for more characters and stages and another disc release.
AE will be dlc. The technical changes will be a free patch and the characters you will have to pay for. Let's use some common sense here, guys.
I'm excited for this, so I can get back in to SF4, because MvC3 is garbage. I went from zero to platinum in 3 weeks, with minimal time invested. The game just doesn't take any skill.
I don't care if it is DLC or disc. All I ask is that if it is a disc, PLEASE import all completed trials from SSF4. I don't want to do some of those trials for a third time. I'd also suggest giving everyone an equal number of alternate outfits, and add a character "setting" mode that let's you scroll easily through characters, outfits, colors, taunt, win quote, and ultra. So we can easily set all of our favorites.
I'll be able to dust off ssfiv. I prefer mvc3 right bought now. Ssfiv got boring to me. I have a feeling all they'll add is just yun,yang,oni and evil ryu. I'm not holding my breath for new characters. Till this date IMO alpha 3 was the best street fighter
@shakaka
Why are you assuming AE is unbalanced, have you played it? i haven't heard 1 pro say its unbalanced, i bet the real reason your saying this is because you cany turtle loool
@GUNNAH_MAN
Daigo already said fireball characters are dead in AE because of their nerfs and Yun/Yang.
Uryo said AE is all about who can beat Yun and Yang. He said the game was balanced except for those two. He complained some characters are never used.
Most japenese pros uses Yun/Yang even Daigo,Tokido,Kindevu,Sako Tokido has to use Fei Long on the side because Yun/Yang rape his Akuma. Mago uses Fei Long he got buffed and he beats Yun/Yang.
@GUNNAH_MAN
There are nearly no Rufus players in AE because Yun/Yang do what he does better plus they rape fireball characters hard.
The thing that makes Yun/Yang op are how easy they are to use with how good they are. Fei Long is said to be the best character but he's hard to use so you don't see him much. He also doesn't have easy to use ultras or combo's.
Yun/Yang are right behind him except they are 10x easier to use and have divekicks. Easy to use Ultras that can go through fireballs across the screen and are easily comboable. Their supers also do insane dmg. They only bad match-ups seem to be Fei Long and Zangief but aren't that hard for them to win. No more than 4.5-5.5 at the worst.
How does this not hint another disc release and $40?? Its pretty stupid that they call it "Arcade Edition"....if they weren't going to charge for a whole new disc, then they would have just put it in arcades (without calling it "Arcade Edition") and had updates for free DLC. for consoles.
Who gives a crap whether it's disc or dlc.
It makes NO difference to us one way or the other.
In the end, what matters is the price VS the added content.
Period.
So far each version of SF4 has been well worth the price we paid for each iteration.
Vanilla gave me a year worth a great fun. Well worth the initial 60 bucks.
Super gave me another year of great fun with new interesting characters to master. Well worth the additional 40 bucks.
If AE adds enough value to warrant the price, then it is a good deal.
say it was DLC. If you faced someone online who didnt buy the DLC online which version of your character would you play/ face.
@NeoSmoke
when has characters being able to rape fireball characters been unbalanced? would you call dhalsim unbalanced?
most pros use strong characters and that is what yun and yang are "strong" I do agree there a little unbalanced e.g fast meter gain but its nothing training mode cant fix. Learn the match up, test out what best works on these 2 characters, is it that hard?
of course rufus would become obsolete, yun and yang are more versatile and hit harder, the only reason you'd play rufus in AE is if you actually like his look. tell me how do you know there easy to use? if a pro says "they aren't that hard to use" do you really think that would apply to you?
just... stop, easy ultras? what makes them easy? if it aint like abel's ultra 2 or roses ultra 2 just how the f*ck are they easy? and again wrong about super, it doesnt do that much damage due to scaling... THINK!!! where are you looking?
if it was dlc the only thing you'll be paying for will be the use of the new characters, the balance patch would be free... meaning because you have the free patch your able to vs the new characters but you wouldnt be able to use them simple... ppl need to use there brains. blazblue is an example of how this works.
So if it is a disc release, people are willing to pay $40 for just 2 characters? I Karin and others are added I will happily pay for another disc. If it's just Yun and Yang with arcade tweaks......... Then................. no.
Can anyone clarify this? So if there are TWO ratings for AE, then that means 1 rating is for the Arcade port, and the other rating would be for any of the two consoles? But there are TWO consoles so shouldn't there be 3 ratings, 1 for PS3, then 1 for Xbox, and finally one for Arcade?
Because as the article mentions there are games that receive THREE ratings, PC/XBOX/PS3. So shouldn't there be 3 ratings for AE? (Arcade/XBOX/PS3). I mean I know that XBOX/PS3 SSF4 versions are almost EXACTLY identical, but shouldn't they at least put 3 different ratings for the three different systems they are available at?
Very possible a disc based version with extra's. AE was already being tested on consoles month ago. Remember the 360's XLive trophies leak with E.Ryu/Oni/Yun and Yang back in November'10.
With the current crisis in Japan, I'm expecting a delay til Summer 2011.
I am a fan of disc releases... especially for tournament play and longevity, so I hope for a disc release. Discs are more portable than dlc data and allow you to go to places in irl and play sf, especially on multiple setups. Discs also do not have an expiration date, and ALL online content has an expiration date. One day, both sony and xbox will stop offering the game online, you will have a messed up harddrive, and bam, the game is no longer available to you except through alternative channels like buying an old ps3 or xbox. I occasionally like to get out PSX classics, and occasionally even go back to old sf games for story purposes and to teach others how to play the series. This may not be possible in 5-10 years without a disc.
Either way, I want it of course, but I'd prefer a disc.
Guys, just think, "Arcade Edition" An new edition with just new characters!? C'mon its gotta be a disk. I mean look at Red Dead Redemption, they made Undead Nightmare into a DLC And! It was 2 GB. And its not a whole lot for a 2 gb DLC. But they made the DLC into a disk. So why not a fighting game?
I'd buy a disc release since my SSF4 disc just recently cracked. (That's the last time I'll let anyone touch my games. [insert mad face here])
Ofcourse, I'd prefer if there were more than two characters on disc. I don't care for Oni and E.Ryu just give their worthwhile moves to their respectful characters or to other existing characters who are more fitting for such moves. For example, I'd prefer that the air dash go to Rose or Bison who are more fit to utilise it and not on Akuma. It'll just look gimmicky as hell on him just like it does for Oni in an SF4 game that is much more grounded than a game like MvC.
Man if this is a disc release then you know what? F*CK CAPCOM. I think the "re-releasing different versions of the same game" tactic is getting annoying. Not to mention that they stated that "ssf4 would be the last disc release" IF they released another version of this game on disc for like $40 again then they'd be lying to their word. And hopefully the new characters are balanced out for this game; cause adding yun and yang basically made rufus obsolete, and all the old sf2 characters are about to be forgotten. I'm gonna be seeing a lot of evil ryu and oni akumas online now lol........now ken and ryu have been switched with yun and yang, the new online duo lmao. We'll see how this goes....no one should be quick to judge, im just hoping it doesnt end up this way.
