srsly I did a MUCH better less opinion based review of this on my FaceBook.
Including the over-shoulder fighting and the CG intro.
Basically, the 3D is what he said, NICE...nothing more. It makes the backgrounds move back further not to make the game pop out.
Looking back at the video I really dropped the ball on it. That said I only had about 5 Min on it and I had "The_1Darknight" waiting to play as well and they were closing up shop so I wanted to let him get his play in. That said here is a more calm and clear review of the 3DS.
First off the size. It again feels sturdy in my hands but the D-pad and analog feel off. The D-pad is very small so as a pad player on consoles I had a hard time executing the moves. The face buttons are also pretty small so I didn't get the change to do a fk>fadc. AS you can see after a few FA crumbles I tried to do something after and I ended up hitting the wrong buttons.
The analog when you move it or roll it seem as if its floating, so I would try a rekka i couldn't feel a border like for example when your on a stick and you can feel the square gate inside of the stick. I didn't get the feeling at first. So thats why I switch up between the D-pad and analog so quickly. I just wasn't comfortable with it on my first go around.
The 3D effect was very nice. It doesn't make the characters pop up but it makes the background drop making giving it much more depth. You can adjust the depth with the slider. If you turn the 3Ds ever so slightly is will appear blurry. The unit requires you to view it directly. The sound was decent as well as the graphics. It ran really smooth and as one point i was able to land Fei Long's BnB.
I only tried out SSFIV and again I was impressed. Would I tell some one now after letting it sink in over a few hours to spend $250 on a handheld for just this 1 game...? No I wouldn't. If other games turn out to be as cool as Super then yes it will be worth it as again the 3D effect gives it a new perspective and its really enjoyable. Really listen to me get all hyped when I pump up the 3D effect. I hope you the viewer and reader enjoyed it.
Again I apologize for the video feeling rushed and all and me saying "the D-pad is still" like times in a row but thats was my 100% feeling at the moment. But I do hope you the viewers and readers can also get a feeling from my laughter and excitement when i pumped up the 3D effect. So I tried to go first as a reporter for EH but I ended up turning into a fan at the end.

Yours Truly Sampled the 3DS today. The 3D on Some games will split your head like you are crossing your eyes. The games to 3D in the same fashion as 3D movies. The Analogue Slider is very precise as is the D-Pad. The Shoulder Buttons are MUCH better now. The Screen and buttons are the same size as the DS Lite (I pulled it out side by side). The Top Screen is Bigger by 1cm on both sides. The Analog Stick is retractable; Regular DS to DSi XL size minus girth. Graphics are better. SSF43D, plays VERY well. The over the shoulder view is not too bad but NOT necessary. Most games will be $40 they said, I will review some more samples tomorrow. Including a Card game...
Slight Edits:
Yours Truly, sampled the 3DS today. The 3D on some games (Madden) will split your head like you are crossing your eyes. The Viewing angle is meant for your angle only. If anyone wants to see what you are playing, while you are playing, their eyes will get messed up. I GUARANTEE IT!! The games to 3D look in the same fashion as 3D movies (BackGround Pops out). The Analogue Slider (control stick) is very precise as is the D-Pad. The Shoulder Buttons are MUCH better now; sturdier. The screen and buttons are the same size as the DS Lite (I pulled it out side by side). The Top Screen is Bigger by 1cm on both sides. The Analog Stick is retractable; Regular DS to DSi XL size minus girth. Graphics are better not just a DS+; GameCube Worthy. SSF43D, plays VERY well. The over the shoulder view was not too bad but NOT necessary. Most games will be $40 they said, I will review some more samples tomorrow. Including a Card game...
Nice review! So the timing on combos is exactly the same on the 3DS? (exactly the same like with console version)
This ugy has a genuine New york accent, its amazing
If i recall, we didnt have a street Fighter for DS, Street Fighter 4 on 3DS is gonna be awesome!
Yo Jason, werd on the footage... so those touch buttons do super at the touch of a button right ?
What about charge characters?? Do you have to charge their supers with your left hand, hit the button with the right ?
If you dont have to charge moves, this sounds like some SSF2 CPU ish .. which is .. well .BROKEN!
Thanks for the response man!... doesn't that seem kinda busted ? I mean essentially you could pick honda and waddle around throwing crouching lights... and then walk up and oicho ultra throw without even buffering!!! Thats a non charge example ...
Or like you could just be walkin around with guile waiting for that jump and you just anti air with his Ultra 1 ( or 2 ) man that's gonna change that game yo!
I could have done the same thing, (I was there yesterday too) but i HIGHLY doubt Catalyst would put my video on his site.
