One year ago it would have been an unquestionable yes because that was the Japanese standard and we tried to remain consistent because of the PS2 era.
But not anymore. The Japanese do Godsgarden and other online tournaments on XBOX because it has better online, sometimes faster framerates in fighting games and is generally an easier system to replace if broken.
If EVO was started tomorrow it would probably be XBOX but because of tradition we still use PS3

Yup the lvl of play for Blazblue is horrible. Tokido is beasting but even he's not that impressive. He's dropping easy combos left and right.
I would like to see his MvC3 play though. A lot of people think he was trolling, but now we can really see where he's at.

yeah you mean most small tournaments right?
many big tournaments like to use ps3 because it moves the tournament faster. the new xbox 360 is very bad for tournament. it restarts alot if you are not careful when plug in the arcade stick. If you run it on old 360, there is big risk for rrod after you play 360 for 5+ hours.
Winter Brawl was using ps3 too.
evo is going to use ps3 because Sony sponsor them.
Justin Wong won the SSFIV team tournament without even showing up. That's skill.
It was nice enough for Ricky and Tokido to split the money three ways even though justin was absence.
On another note, Tokido's fadc ground combo into U2 was awesome.

Winner final: Ortiz/Tokido vs Banana ken/Sanford Kelly/Wolfkrone. Tokido started and OCVed them and he pulled Ultra 2 setup on Wolfkrone (you can google it for video)
Loser's final:Mike Ross/Combofiend/F. Champ beat ken/Sanford Kelly/Wolfkrone. I believe Mike ross ocved them.
Grand final: Ortiz/Tokido beats Mike Ross/Combofiend/F. Champ in one set. Ortiz won against Combofiend but lost to Mike Ross. Tokid took it from there.

They did it on the second stream He took Tokido down to little to no health but Tokido managed to get a clutch super to take the match and the set they were very even through out. He is salty about still not being able to beat him but his reaction on the stream wasn't really as too what he acts like online.
As for footage it's a big maybe since he says he might not get footage since they are making a DVD of the event.

actually the main reason people use the PS3 at Evo is because it is the biggest tournament so there a lot of people there. a lot of people means different uses of buttons controllers etc...my point they use the PS3 because you can just switch the controllers from the home button instead of always going to the main menu to switch (360). maybe they also use it for tradition, but all i know is that thats the main reason.

How well did Tokido do in the team MvC3 tourney? I know they won but JWong is in that team so it's an automatic win.
tokido did very well in team. He ocv few teams on stream. He even clean up teams in loser final and grand final without needed J wong to play. he made top 16 in mvc3. But i don't think he will make top 8 in mvc3 though.
So what did we learn today? 1. No one picks Deadpool for some reason (ok one person did but still). 2. Sentinel and Phoenix are overrated. And 3. She-Hulk is one of if not the best character in the game. Who knew. Honestly, after a month of moaning over how broken and glitch MvC3 is, it's just awesome to see people doing the unexpected. Who knew SheHulk, Taskmaster, and Bionic Commando were a pretty good team. If there is one thing I take from this tournament after 2 days, is that MvC3 is just awesome and can't wait to see it at Evo. Also, hats off to the girl player (Guilty I think was her name) who played in MvC3 teams, she wasn't not only good, but be a really good player too (I think it was P. Champ if I remember right). Congratulation, you were great and you are better then 95% of the people who comment on this site, me included.

He is good at mvc3, but he still have a long way to go against U.S. top mvc3 players. he is better than Mike Ross though. That's why i don't think he will make top 8. maybe top 8 if he has good draw tomorrow. Not top 4 that's for sure.

#73 The best thing about MvC3 is that since everyone is virtually super strong in this game and can beat anyone with the only real factor being player skill, you can pretty much pick and choose a variety of teams and have a chance. OF course you can't choose any combination and expect it to be consistant.
I could have told you Sentinel and Pheonix was overrated, only a select few can exploit them correctly, but unlike Sentinel I enjoy fighting Pheonix Teams, gives me a goal to work towards (kill the behatch!) XD
Deadpool is not the best keep away character, he excells better in rush down/Hit and run tactics. The biggest reason is probably because Deadpool has crap health He goes down really fast in a few long combos if done right.
Tokido did very well he OCV'd Combofiend/Mike Ross/ Pr Balrog's team during one of the sets and showed off some sick new Akuma combos. That video he put up of him playing earlier in the week was obviously trolling.
My bad Fchamp was actually on that team with Mike Ross and Combofiend. Anyway point is Tokido impressed a lot of people.

So many good players on the mic, I enjoyed Jwong and Ricky O, UltraDavid is always good, and even Arturo was actually really informative. I learned lots about the Rose-Dictator matchup from him during the ShinkuuR/TwistedJago match :D

A loss is a loss is a loss. PR Rog was on point, it wasn't that Tokido didn't play well. If Tokido was doing badly, he wouldn't have made it to the finals.
Also, props to PR Rog for beating JWong, Wolfkrone, and Tokido all in consecutive. You know that in the long run, these three are better, but it's great to see some new people win these tourneys from time to time.

@145 well yes & no you have to understand that foe today ssf4 was done early in the morning add the hour change the room was pretty empty since naturally you feel the change now if ssf4 was later in the day odds are the hype would have been at a good lvl now I'm not saying it would beat mvc but it would be close at least.
tokido did very well in mvc3. J Wong said tokido only play that games for like 2 weeks and he taught him how to play Akuma and Wolverine via facebook. lol

Marn is already very good at mvc3. This game is not build for marn, marn likes to rush down and take risk. take risk will get kill you in this game. Marn would destroy combofiend if not for those one touch kills. this is just not marn's style of game.

Combofiend vs Justin Wong was awesome!
For the most part, they were very even, and fights often came down to their last character. After that though, it definitely looks like Combofiend's team perhaps better designed overall. I love how all of his character can DHC into each other, and Spencer proved a lot better than Tron closing things out and making use of level 3 X-Factor.

Yeah the thing I thought during the Grand Finals was that Tron is not a good character by herself. She needs assists, and all her ground normals are unsafe.
Combofiend had three characters (She Hulk, Taskmaster, Spencer) that could play 1v1, while Justin only had two (She Hulk, Amaterasu).
It was still a great set though. I just had a feeling that if Justin was left with Tron, he'd lose... he probably should have busted out his real team (Wolvy, Akuma, Storm).
No SSF4 before tomorrow?
