In this episode, Gootecks shows us the dangers of trying out a new team online... WITH NO SENTINEL! Is he a brave fool? Is Sentinel a necessary evil... or merely a drug that Mike Ross keeps pushing??

Wow. Mike Ross, could you possibly cry about Sentinel anymore? Gootecks wiped the floor with that guy using Wolverine/X-23, then he started dicking around or (as Gootecks said) lag kicked in a little bit and it ended up that Sentinel was the last man standing. Anyone else would realize that Gootecks had the game in the bag already, but in true "Salty Sentinel" fashion, Mike Ross is all like "SEE!? YOU PICK SENTINEL AND YOU WIN! YOU ONLY WON BECAUSE OF SENTINEL" even tough Wolvie did like 90% of the work on his own.
And Gootecks is right about 1/3 of the cast being great against Sent. Look, I'm not going to deny that Sent is really strong. He's quite possibly the best character in the game, but all of this talk about him being overpowered and impossible to win against is nothing but garbage. It was a knee-jerk reaction because the game was new, but now people are finding out anti-sent strategies, and like Gootecks said, he might not be the best for long. I can't believe Mike Ross is hopping on the train along with the rest of the scrubs who cry and moan about Sentinel being unstoppable and how you need to use him to be good. Very disappointing to hear that scrub-talk from him.
/\ Almost right but I think Mike Ross was making a joke. I don't mean to be nitpicky, but it's hard to take you seriously when you take something so literally. No offense or anything, but I wouldn't compare him to a scrub on any terms.
GooCASH needs to get a real job. How is it that most of th top players have real jobs and yet he doesnt have to work....being decent at certain games?
While # 4 did miss the point you'd be surprised at how salty people get if you win with Sent even on your team. I can run through a whole team with Mags and Dorm, and barely have Sent out and people say I won due to Sent. So I do understand the sentiment.
Mike Ross needs to go back to his Ryu Storm Hulk. That was a decent team and if he sticks with it he can own. Gootecks might need sentinel as a handicap. I'm disappointed that Ross is falling back on sentinel though. If your going to replace him on your team don't do it with Thor...
You can win without sentinel. I use to feel sorry the robot in part 2 but now i just want him dead. Hulk and Sentinel in the same team is uber cheap. Basically 1 combo from each will kill 2 characters. I've just come offline from playing a Sent/Hulk team and there is enough salt in my body right now to feed the planet.
Note to Gootecks: use whoever the F*** you want.
I was reading all your comments and this idea came to my mind... If theres so much trouble about the top tiers in the game, like sentinel; because lets face it, even Gootecks without being any good in the game, knowing just the standard bread & butter, is able to win in seeminly difficult situations... the thing is, Capcom should restrict the balance with a game system like the on in CVS... forcin the sinergy and all that cool stuff that could make this game very very strategic
See, the thing about getting killed in 1 combo is that basically everyone is capable of doing it to everyone. It's just easiest to do with Sentinel, assuming he catches you not blocking.
I don't see Sentinel as a broken threat. I mean...I suck. I play Arthur. And I'm far more worried about getting rushed down by Dante.

I do like watching Gootecks' Dormammu. If he keeps using him, he can do some nasty stuff with him.
And while I agree that people shouldn't take Mike Ross' Sentinel jokes too seriously, it is kinda annoying to hear people complain about him. I side with Gootecks.
That GooTeck has a serious point. Play without sentinel gets you very fustrated against sentinel users. Sentinel is for people that are limited to learn more about the game. Easy as that. Marvel 2 still lives in marvel 3 with that robot sentinel in. Win without sentinel it's an auto applause. Win with Sentinel in it. *Steals Spiderman taunt* "Dude you suck!!!!"
Wow, I really am bad. I main She-Hulk and I completely get destroyed by Sentinels on a regular basis despite Gootecks saying she’s one of his worst matchups. So not my game, this MvC.
I think everyone should use Dante/Wesker/Sentinel ;)

Yup dealing with his assist is the worst part about him. I like to just snap him in cause I'd rather face him then see his drone the whole match.
It would be Mike Ross being a tier whore like he usually is.

You say he isnt either because you are gay for him youre his best friend and know forsure he isnt or the game producer and know which character is top tier.

Most of this makes perfect sense. The game was new and people were bitching about sentinal, now we have strategies against him plus a good amount of the cast can shut him down. But what you guys have to also understand is that even if sentinal is useless as a character in the long run people will still use him as a way to chip w/xfc and also for his godly drone assist.
People crying about HONDA being top tier need to get slapped.Sentinel isn't even the problem, it's the SETTINGS that are the problem. Last night they must have had the settings on lowest damage, but sentinel did NOTHING but get passed around.
Online however, the settings work with him because damage is so high and the time is so low.
I'm not sure why the story about the Machinima event was taken down, but in the interviews Jwong got asked how he got so good.
He said at first he was like 'OMG Sentinel is so cheap', but then he realized being whiny wasn't doing him any favors, so he completely changed his attitude about the game and went at it from a different approach. Basically going in and learning, instead of being a tier whore/whiner.
Way to put all the sentinel bitchers on blast.

To be honest, Sentinel and maybe phoenix are the top of cheapness. I tried sentinel once in mvc2 and once in mvc3 just to see.. and he's so powerful and his input is so simple. However, just as gooteck said. When you reach a certain level, sentinel isnt that krazy. Especially in mvc3. Patience is key. With another zoner like dorm, arthur, trish with sentinel maybe cause even more frustration. But believe me, there's always a way. Personally, I didnt feel like a winner with top tier like sentinel or vanilla sagat or whatever. in mvc2 when I infinite ppl with my magneto. Felt like i was in training mode. So boring... Have fun ppl.
Who really went into mvc series and said... "Ou I cant wait to play with sentinel. Ou, sentinel looks so kool." Or even tron. Maybe a good 1% of all ppl. They just want to take the easy route instead of taking a few losses to improve yourself with the characters you actually like. LoL. Doesnt matter, I can tell a good player from a scrub sentinel bandwagon one. Easy work. :)
Victor Von Gooteks is such a brave fool. I applaud his learning to play with no Sentinel.
