Updated: Marvel vs. Capcom 3 ranked #1 in U.S. sales

Updated: According to a post on the official Marvel vs. Capcom 3 Facebook page, MvC3 was actually ranked #1 in February in the U.S. for sales, beating out Call of Duty: Black Ops.

Previously, it was reported that MvC3 was ranked 2nd overall for last month. The game was released on February 15, 2011, in North America.

1. Marvel vs. Capcom 3 (Capcom) - Xbox 360, PS3
2. Call of Duty: Black Ops (Activision Blizzard) - Xbox 360, PS3, Wii, NDS, PC
3. Just Dance 2 (Ubisoft) - Wii
4. NBA 2K11 (Take-Two) - Xbox 360, PS3, PS2, Wii, PSP, PC
5. Dead Space 2 (Electronic Arts) - Xbox 360, PS3, PC

Company V.P., Christian Svensson, told EventHubs that he was pleased with the numbers for North America.

Not a surprise that Black Ops made #1. Besides the FPS community is the worst community I've ever seen. But I am surprised that MvC3 made #2. Not bad!

Lets hope Capcom uses a portion of their profits to FIX THE ONLINE IN THIS GAME!

I'm talking spectator mode, replays, better ranked matchmaking, the whole 9 yards!

Some more DLC characters would be nice too (Cable and Strider anyone?)

Black ops is the same for ps3 as it is for 360. Stop the bullish*t. I had both only difference is the colors are brighter and smoother and the controls are smoother on a 360 control. I switched over cause I got an xbox for Christmas as a gift and all my boys have it on 360. The online is the same on both. Mw2 had smoother online but black ops is more balanced in terms of gameplay IMO. It's all personal preference.

@23 You haven't played that much on the PS3 don't you?
Graphics are horrendous for the PS3... I mean, pixelated textures and shadows...
And the frame rate... every napalm (now fixed) and rolling thunder (not yet fixed) makes the FPS go to 30...

lol VP was pleased with results but probably pissed off at results around the rest of the world. fun to see what tops off the charts in each country. happy to see mvc3 sell off as many copies as it did but more than half the people that own the game don't play it anymore. great marketing strategy!

Actual sale figures has yet to be released but judging from their vague responses the probably sold poorly to their expectations.

However, if Capcom had taken their time with the game and release a revamped online service with spectator mode, 3 VS 3 action that allows 6 players to play simultaneously, they would have had a better game and better sale figures.

We might be fighting game fans but I like shooters and truth be told, Black Ops is been there done that. Also suprised people still buying Black Ops but considering these games are on automatic pilot we might as well say MvC3 is 1st.

The graphics in black ops is bad on both xbox and ps3. I seriously wonder why they released a game with N64 graphics. The textures on the M16 look straight out of Goldeneye!

I love how the michael jackson game is up there

anywho, COD has sucked ever since 4. Campaign is...alright, but the MP blows. I'm not saying that because I'm a 'fighter fan' either. I do play other shooters too (gears, RE5, etc)

Yeah, online needs fixing. As for the actual game? Glitches aside, it's amazing. It takes soooo many risks and has such unique characters that just turned out awesome. But I seriously hope Capcom doesn't ignore that online, that'd be a waste for this game and the fans overall.

I think that facebook page is lying. I just read that black ops is the number one selling game in the states, its on xbox ps3 wii ds and pc. Mvc3 is just on two consoles and its a fighter. Its real hard to be number one even if cod is a few months old. I hope its true though.

This does not include the amount of Black Ops sold on it's release date. Sorry guys but the amount of sales total for a fighting game will never beat a game like that. A lot more people are into shooters nowadays.
