I completely understand why Mvc3 sold too little. People still like SSF4, and MvC3 only met the demands for only a few fans of the series. This game is gonna have more fan service, but they need to learn to keep the hype, and keep close to the communtity because we found bugs and defects for them to make it a great game.
At least it sold as many as it did
and pokemon black and white sold a million in a day in the u.s i wish sf would do those numbers when it comes out here =0
MvC3 just didn't live up to the 10 year hype like most people expected, and I can see why sales dropped so dramatically for it a week after. Capcom's plan on sticking everyone for their money with DLC's and add ons that should have been in the game already I'm sure was a big letdown to a lot of fans, including myself. Majority of the people I've talked to at game stores and seen ranting on the forums express how much is lacking from a game thats been anticipated for over 10 years. And the ongoing coverage of it months before the release left very little to the imagination. I even avoided them myself.
Complaints ranging from: a lackluster roster, long searching for matches, the graphics being too much too handle on the eyes for too long (which I dont mind), odd health balancing, and DLC rip offs are all I hear mostly. There are some that are still trying to give it a chance by devoting more time into it. Though they still admit how much the game came up short and how it doesn't match the fun factor of other fighters like SSF4 or even MvC2. Hence they don't devote as much time to it in comparison.
I got the midnight release.... played it for a total of 24 -30 hours over the course of the first week, haven't popped it back in since and looking to sell it. No point in playing and investing DLC's in a game I personally don't feel is worthy of it. By the time MvC3 is to a point where everyone is at a happy medium and the complaints die down, they would have already shelved out boatloads of cash to get a game they are finally satisfied with, which is a sad reality. No point in complaining about MvC3 on forums hoping Capcom hears about it because it's obvious due to the shortcomings MvC3 has, that they will do whatever THEY think is best for the company to get more money out of the fans. Just play something else until they bring out another fighter thats more to your liking.
Im sure there are more reasons why MvC3 didn't sell as well but from word of mouth, those are some of the opinions Ive been hearing from many disappointed hopefuls.
@themasman capcom expected the game to sell just by slapping the number 3 to the end of the title and thats it. the roster is really weak.

Yeah Im aware its the Japanese charts. My comments were based purely on what Ive been hearing around from folks locally in the U.S. But my first sentence in my post probably led folks to believe I was speaking on Japanese solely so I should have re-worded that a bit better. I'm even curious to see how it's still fairing out in the U.S. far as sales go in the midst of all the complaints. It was selling out everywhere the first few days around here.
Have to get that Phantasy Star Portable 2.
